Mermaid DFO au please? 👀❤
1 - From as far as Izuku can remember, he has always been drawn by the ocean but his mother categorically refuses for him to go into the sea. Naturally, since children don't always listen to their parents, Izuku often go swimming, but in secret.
2 - One day, Izuku rescues a merman trapped in a net. He quickly becomes friend with Tomura. Like, in a day. Through their conversation, Tomura reveals many things about the mermaid society.
2.A - Such as the fact there was tiny bit of war fifteen years ago where poor innocent mermaids were persecuted because of who they were, many of them seeking refuge outside the sea. Tomura is a child of the mermaids who aren't accepted in mermaid society anymore, forced to wander in the trench.
2.B - And that Izuku is so drawn to the ocean, it's possible he's actually the child of one of them.
3 - Izuku doesn't believe it for a second. Tomura looks great and everything but he's no mer. He says goodbye to his friend and goes back home, only to find it ransacked and his mother nowhere to be found. He follows the traces and sees that it leads straight to the sea. He also finds a box under the floor where mermaid jewelries were hidden. One of them is a beautiful green jewel that always feels very cold to the touch, no matter how long it stays under the sun.
4 - Tomura confirms that this is mermaid jewelry indicating that Izuku's mom was from the Shimura pod, which doesn't mean anything to Izuku but Tomura assures Izuku that this is a forsaken clan and that All Might might have find her and dragged her under the sea to answer for her crimes. Of being a Shimura.
5 - Humans can't do anything to help. Tomura offers a plan because Izuku saved his life by freeing him from that net. They check that Izuku can turn into a mer (he can... kind of) and they are going to seek the help of Tomura's master. He was imprisoned in a cave in the deepest part of the ocean but with the green jewel that Tomura found in Izuku's home, they will be able to free him. (Because the jewel has ancient powerful magic and the mermaids who took Inko were probably looking for it.) and he will fix everything.
6 - Izuku follows Tomura on this quest and discovers the world under the sea. It's beautiful and he makes friends with many people, but he never forgets that if they knew that he was a Shimura, he would be taken away, just like his mom.
7 - But as the trip goes on, Izuku starts to get more and more uncomfortable.
8 - It just feels weird that Tomura, despite loving his sensei so much, lets Izuku keeps the jewel.
9 - Tomura somehow looks really uncomfortable when Izuku is nice to him. When he saved his life and got injured for it, Tomura looked incredibly guilty.
10 - But the thing that really bothers him is that he soon learns that every mermaid, just like people on the surface, have some specific kind of magic.
11 - Tomura can decay things.
12 - So why didn't he use his magic to decay the mundane fisher net Izuku rescued him from?

deep sea merman shigaraki….who becomes so…enamored with you, covetous of you, obsessed with you. it started during one of his rare visits to the surface. he doesn’t leave the deep of the sea often but sometimes he wants nothing more than to feel the warmth of the sun, craves the kiss of sunlight on his pale, cold skin more than anything else. it’s an urge that, every once in a while, just becomes too strong to fight against.
he was relaxing, floating on his back when he first saw you and you first saw him. he tensed immediately, prepared for the reaction he always seems to get when spotted by pathetic land dwellers. but instead of being met with your terror and shrill screams, he’s met with….fascination. a soft sort of fascination. and an outstretched hand. which, honestly, he finds quite dumb. there’s a reason your kind tends to run from him. his sharp teeth and even sharper fangs are not for show.
but….you don’t run. and he finds that he has no urge to sink his teeth in you. at least, not in the way he’s used to. not when your voice is so kind and soft, and you smell so good, and your touch is so gentle and so so warm.
it starts with that one chance meeting. but all the rest that follow are not left up to something as fickle as chance. tomura wades in the same area day after day, waiting for you. and you always come. always. with your kind and soft voice, and gentle warm touch, and divine smell. and each day he finds it harder and harder to watch you walk away from him.
you should be with him, he think. you’d be better off.
he knows how your kind can be. so violent without cause, without reason. so many ways you could get hurt. so hurt that you might never come back. and then he’d be left all alone again. he’d be left so alone and so so cold.

Real talk out of pure curiosity: I saw you posted you were working on chapter 59? Of your fic
How do you have the motivation to write 59 chapters of a fic? Or I guess how do you keep inspiration for it?
I tend to lose inspiration after like three chapters rip
Real talk: I've been working on chapter 59 for 3 months. XD
The story in question (Hypnotic Nightmare - AFO x F!Reader - TW: noncon/abusive relationship/non-reader directed violence) has been going since October 2020. It's 265,000 words and rising. I also have A Taste of Your Own Venom (Shigaraki Tomura x F!Reader - TW: consensual relationship but Tomura is pretty obviously a yandere) which is about 197,000 words and my original, professionally published book Maid For Your Master which is about 86,000 words (Gothic romance, horror, F!Reader insert, TW available here) and I am working on the sequel.
There are a few things that help me out writing these monsters:
I like slow burn relationships. Smut is great and all, but I need the back story to be seduced.
I binge produce 10-20k words at a time then take several weeks off to chill.
I try to have multiple projects so that when I can't work on one **cough cough Venom**, I work on another.
I don't post the chapters right away. I used to, but I find that writing them out, holding them back until I've started working on the next chapter, and editing them one more time before the post works best. Ideally, I like to work 5 chapters ahead because it lets me add new ideas and then build them in to previous chapters. This makes it more fun and less stressful.
I have an ending in mind before I post. This allows me to work towards an specific point which is satisfying to readers, even if I get distracted by writing out every kink on earth (eg. Hypnotic) or I need a break (Venom).
I don't post everything I write. I write out tons and tons of ideas and wait to see if I have the motivation to finish them. For example, I have a 5 chapter outline for a yandere professor Overhaul story which is waiting in the wings to be posted. Been working on that for two years.
I don't hold back when a short fic idea hits just right. That is why we've had things like Red Sky at Morning (AFO x F!reader - dubcon merman) and Hands-On Instruction (AFO x F! or M! reader - dubcon professor x college student). If someone suggests something and it sparks joy, I write it. If if doesn't, either because it's not my bag or I'm too over stressed to work on it right then, I usually just reply in private.
Truth is #4 is not happening with Hypnotic right now because these are the final chapters. I am hoping to make 60 the last and then write an epilogue to give closure.
Another thing to consider is that, for long fics (eg. > 5 chapters), I don't recommend posting them on Tumblr. Tumblr gets buggy after about 2k words, can randomly drop your post and seems to hate extensive formatting (eg - glitches after you make so many formatting changes or tags). Also, based on my two years of fanfic experience on this site, Tumblr users don't engage much with long fic as a rule. They prefer headcannons, short smut (eg - one chapter), witty one liners, etc.
For proof of this, let me point out that Part III of Feeling The Spirit has 89 likes and 25 reblogs. The <200 word SFW drabble I posted last night of Tomura clutching a plushie while gaming? Over 100 likes and 12 reblogs in 6 hours. Tumblr like fast and furious content.
Archive of Our Own is much better for long fic. The website is more stable, formatting is much better with HTML (see the text bubble exchange in the first chapter of Liar Played by the Heartstrings - it's my crowning glory), it's easier to scroll between chapters, and long fics do better with their algorithm. The more chapters you post to one story on Ao3, the more your fic gets bumped to the top, the more people see it. Tumblr shows your story more based on reblogs, so you want things that people can quickly agree with and move along because that's what they reblog.
If you're writing on Tumblr alone, losing motivation in 3 chapters makes sense because engagement drops like crazy. On Ao3, engagement doesn't really take off until chapter 10-15 (where people can binge read your stuff), so it's more motivating.
The honest truth is though - this is my natural temperament:
Ask anyone who has had the misfortune to DM me. My mouth doesn't have an off switch. One of my commenters on Feeling The Spirit compared me to Victor Hugo because I spent an entire chapter introducing the haunted house.
So... for example... Hypnotic started as a 5 chapter project... and then it kinda ran away with itself.
Honestly, the thing for me is that writing is a hobby, not my day job. I just write when it makes me happy and then post it slowly when I have enough content for people to enjoy. That keeps the pressure off and lets me share my messed up brain with all of you.

Shuichi Iguchi: Hogwarts AU
Shuichi Iguchi is a half-blood/half-merman wizard that was born on the 8th of August 1975 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1986, being sorted into Gryffindor house.
He grew up in Ryugo village, one of the only two wizarding villages in Britain with this village in particular being for families with half-mermaid/man children.
Due to his half-breed status, he was heavily bullied during his first years at Hogwarts but he did still have one close friend in Tomura.
His popularity did increase a little due to his duelling skills in the Duelling club and his work as one of Gryffindor's Beaters.
After graduating from Hogwarts, he worked at Quality Quidditch Supplies at first as a shop assistant before Tomura invited him to join the Death Eaters which he accepted so that he could change the Wizarding World for the better just like his idol Stain tried to do.
While he did question some of the Death Eaters' motivations, he did gain a few close friends among them like Dabi, Himiko, Kenji, Jin, and Atsuhiro.
His first wand was destroyed by Izuku Midoriya during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries but after the kidnapping of the wandmaker Dell Clawthorne, he got a new one made.
He eventually participated in the Battle of Hogwarts where he was eventually defeated by Mezo Shoji much to the anger of many other 'half-breeds' that had started to look up to him as a leader.
After the battle, he was sent to Azkaban with the rest of the surviving Death Eaters.
He has an aspen wand with a dragon heartstring core.
His Patronus is a Fire-dwelling Salamander.
His favorite subjects are Defense Against the Dark Arts and Flying.
His least favorite subjects are Care of Magical Creatures and History of Magic.
