Finally got a fancy(tm) pic of my aquarium - think I figured out the solution to awful photos is just I have to do them at night because the hugeass window in my room directly adjacent ruins everything. Going to try and take a pic like this weekly to track growth!

@queerscout YOU'RE RIGHT THOUGH its so funny seeing the different vibes from the mammal keeper groups vs weirdos with tanks. Mammal keepers are like the best traits of horse girls but nerdier and I think the difference I note is the Weirdos with Tanks tend to fixate on specific animals or systems more than the job itself? Like we have the coral people, the shark people, the jellyfish people, and there's some overlap but it's the difference between having a general reef tattoo or shark necklace (or in my case my favorite Stony Boi coral sticker) vs having a license plate that says "zookpr."

This took Randall by surprise-which, in hindsight, it shouldn't have, since Emily seemed unabashedly smitten with him, in a way he'd never known any woman to be with him. Most women wouldn't look twice at him, he wasn't exactly New Orleans' most eligible bachelor...but that just didn't seem to matter to Emily. She was head over heels for him, it seemed-and the feeling was mutual.

And even though this was only their first date, he felt comfortable with this request-were it anyone else, any other girl he was going out with, he'd think this was all the set-up for some great big prank, some sort of practical joke cooked up by his co-workers...but this was Emily asking him this, and he knew she would never be so cruel. He couldn't explain how, he just knew, in his heart of hearts, that he could trust her.

And so, it was with trembling lips and a pounding heart that he gave his answer, trying his hardest not to stutter as he gave his breathless answer:

"Y-Yes."

im lowkey a little desperate to set up a little nano shrimp tank so im not feeling so AOUGH about the main tank,, also i just think a nano shrimp tank would be SOOO pretty but i also know i could be moving house again before the end of the year and i dont want to set up the tank only to then have to rehome the shrimp in 2 months

#but at the same time i might be here so much longer than that #so like... idk #tbh the ideal would actually be setting up a 100L+ tank #been looking at angel fish lately....#where my 55L tank is now could fit a 100L tank #but that would require draining the 55 and figuring out where to put it #(probs where my record player is)#but a 100L is a bigger responsibility than like. a 30L nano #A 30L Nano would b easy enough to rehome if I move countries #man idk if thats even gonna happen any time soon #just OUGHHH let me have a 30L nano PLEASSEE #maybe for a betta fish #like a bunch of shrimp and a betta #that would be so so so pretty

always found it kinda funny how my dad was a commercial fisherman for much of his life yet has a daughter who can’t bait her own line (icky!) and who finds most seafood to be viscerally gross

so im kinda really getting into freshwater aquariums

#i bought a little 1.2gal tank from family friend #once i get it set up im gonna try a few cherry shrimp in there #and my aunt says i can have their 10(?)gal tank and glofish #the 1.2 will fit on my dresser or desk #but wherem i gonna put that!! maybe my yarn stash should go downstairs #but im looking at a bunch of fish that wont bully the shrimp #rover still is not trusted with friends #also im scared to test his water bc dude could be living in mini chernobyl for all i know #i just Know if i change something in there itll be what finally kills him #dude survived a house fire. abandonment in elementary school. ick.#but yeah let me make sure the ph is what it should be and rip #anyway i am Excite #im sure dad is too he loved our old saltwater tank

my general Side Order thoughts:

I don't have much of anything groundbreaking to say. I haven't publicly said much in relation to side order in the first place, i don't want to build up crazy expectations, and I've seen much of the fanbase making solid theories anyways. also there has been a lot less information compared to ROTM which is great, I don't want to be able to predict the whole story before the game comes out. I'd rather be surprised like i was with octo expansion! here I just want to put out my thoughts real quick so people know where I stand and that yes i am aware of the Hints and Foreshadowing

Marina's quote at the end of her interview in Splatune 3 is relevant of course, gives us a sense of what this whole world of order is. But did she build it this whole digital simulation, or was it something she found? (mix of both perhaps? found it, contributed to parts of it and it went out of her control?)

Mem cakes, agent 8, cerebral theming...very interested where this all goes. love all the references to OE keep em coming

People have been talking about this already, and the foreshadowing was acknowledged back in haikara walker in 2018. the hat logos on dedf1sh and paul gotta be connected to this thing.

It'd be a huge waste for a more grown-up paul to not show up in s3, either as someone mentioned by Acht or for him to make some sort of musical return post side order.

Glen fiddler has always been interesting to me (in that i anticipated he would become plot relevant somehow) with how he was fully 3d modeled in his sunken scroll. im not 100% on if hes gonna be in side order but the copy machine connections in side order (the fish skeletons in splatoween, also the recent poster?) are sus

I LOVE SHIRMPS SO MUCH SOMEONE STOP ME BEFORE I BREAK MY PHONE

The shirmps already come with that working mentality to go clean (IT IS SO CUTE TO SEE A SMALL SHIRMP DOING THE SAME THING AS THE BIGGER SHIRMP AAA) I am thinking that maybe now yuu is a shrimp merperson but they got eels in them would the kids come out as mixed? Maybe one of them is a shirmp but with the colors of the twins and there is also a moray eel but with the bright colors of shirmps

WHAT I WAS GETTING TO is that maybe since kids can be shirmp or eel that the baby shirmp just out of nowhere starts doing that cleaning motion and their moray eel sibling is confused about it (sort of how some cats are raised with dogs so they copy some of their characteristics)

The moray version of confusing the hell out of their shirmp sibling is that one day the eel sibling tied themselves into a knot and they go "????"

I like to imagine that a shrimpmer Yuu would be a Pacific cleaner shrimp, which are the ones most often found around morays. They're a bright red with a singular white stripe down their back with very long antennas:

I think that for the babies, the easiest route to take is either a moray kid or a shrimp kid in either teal or red colors. We can imagine how a hybrid might work, but that requires more time that I don't have atm to write.

I think that the moray babies would be curious of their shrimp siblings, especially when they start mimicking their shrimp parent's mannerisms and “cleaning”. They think it's cute, and the moray siblings are a great practice for cleaning for the baby shrimps! Plus, that means less work for Yuu in the long run.

On the other hand, I think the shrimp babies are confused by their moray siblings' predatory instincts. Baby morays feed on mostly small raw fish and crustaceans (like shrimp) until they get more teeth in and are able to eat larger chunks of fish provided by their fathers. The shrimp siblings get weirded how seeing their siblings feed on their animal counterparts.

Though, they all get along and like to compare their colors to each other! Some of the morays are a deep red not typically associated with morays, while a few of the shrimps are a combination of teal and red, making them look a bit like a mosaic! And, of course, all of them glow when feeling strong emotions. Mostly happiness though, they're very spoiled and cherished.

This is why they love to clutch onto Yuu when they carry another batch of eggs. Their siblings glow whenever they rub Yuu's tummy and say hello! What a sweet sight that must be!

(I have many thoughts about this, it might have to become a series at some point tbh)

every time i go to a fish place near me (for pets, not food, not an aquarium) i look at the shrimps like the guy looks at the painting in ferris buellers
