It’s time again for a monthly check-up on all the players scattered around the globe who got their start in Major League Soccer or a club academy, a group still needing several doses of health.
Injuries have slowed the likes of Geoff Cameron, Omar Gonzalez and Weston McKennie in recent weeks, but some guy named Landon Donovan did enjoy a winning Leon debut south of the border.

HOU: 2008-12
Due to some hamstring troubles, the US national team veteran has been in and out of action for the last few weeks. However, the real news here came from the local Sentinel, which reported that Stoke City rejected late transfer window offers from Crystal Palace (twice rejected, actually), Newcastle and West Ham United to keep Cameron for their relegation battle.

On Saturday, the US right back went the distance as Newcastle logged a big 1-0 triumph over Manchester United. The club’s first win over the Red Devils since 2013 lifted them to 13th place, two points above the Premier League danger line.

There were rumors that Hyndman could head out on loan in January, including reports of MLS options. The young midfielder remained with Bournemouth, however, and hasn’t played since an FA Cup outing over a month ago.

Shortly after our last check-in, the Schalke talent was sidelined by a small MCL rupture in his knee that was expected to keep him out for six weeks. McKennie has just resumed running and light workouts on the side, so he looks to be on target for an early March return. The Miners have stumbled a little in his absence, going 2-2-0 since the injury, but still hold the Bundesliga’s last Europa League slot.

These are exciting times for the Mexico center back and loan employers Eintracht Frankfurt. The Eagles (who did make one European Cup appearance, finishing as runners up back in 1960) are hunting for their first ever UEFA Champions League invite. Salcedo��has locked down a starting role in the Bundesliga’s second-stingiest defense, which has helped key a 5-1-2 run up to third place.

He began this month by nodding in the opener in a 2-0 win over Groningen. After helping his loan employers stroll past defending champs Feyenoord on Feb. 11, the US defender missed out on Saturday’s home defeat against Excelsior due to a flu bug.

The Excelsior defender returned to the selection from an abdominal injury four weeks ago, but has watched the last six Eredivisie games from the bench. His club are on a decent 3-3-2 run that has them 12 points clear of the drop zone.

Palmer-Brown made the sub’s bench for the first time this past weekend, but give him time to earn some minutes. The club did fall off the summit this past weekend, landing in third after a galling 1-0 home loss to strugglers Hapoel Ra’anana, a result that could shake loose some playing time for Schoenfeld.

He also recently helped the Steelmen advance in the Scottish Cup; with a semifinal place on the line, they’ll host Hearts on March 4.

Directly following his recovery from the flu, Castillo sat Trabzonspor’s first three matches coming out of the Super Lig’s winter pause because of knee troubles. He returned with a 33-minute outing on February 10, and got another short shift as the club suffered their first loss in 13 games against second-place Istanbul Basaksehir this past weekend.

Tomas Hertl and the Sharks Have a Favourable Upcoming Schedule
All fantasy owners need help in the short term AND the long term. The Looking Ahead feature identifies one player to plug into lineups in the short term, a second to invest in for the long term, a third to bench for the coming week, and a fourth who will struggle to meet expectations for some time. All players discussed are selected based on their upcoming schedule. Stats in this article updated through January 31st
The Immediate Fix (Grab this guy and use him for the next several days)
Danton Heinen, C, Boston Bruins (Available in 71 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – Brad Marchand’s loss via suspension is rookie Danton Heinen’s gain, as he’s slotted into Marchand’s spot on both the first power play – where he previously played the point, swapping with Ryan Spooner – and more importantly at 5v5 with Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak. Heinen’s value in keeper leagues is high, with 11G-22A in his rookie season, but in season-long leagues he can be picked up for the next handful of games.
The Building Block (Buy now, sit back and enjoy the production)
Tomas Hertl, C, San Jose Shark (Available in 58 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – Another spot fill-in, but Hertl will have value for much longer than Danton Heinen as he’s moving up in the lineup to replace Jumbo Joe off an MCL injury. Hertl in the three games since Jumbo went down has seen ice time of 21, 22, and 19 minutes, and has put up 1G-2A with 7SOG. Given that Hertl’s having his “breakout” year with 14G-17A in 50 games (his career highs are 21-25-46), the added ice time and playing on what should be a potent first power play unit of the Sharks for the bulk of the next 30 games makes him very valuable.
The Odd Man Out (His short-term value is cause for concern)
Nick Leddy, D, New York Islanders (Owned in 60 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – Leddy’s poor play recently seems to be a mystery, as it’s not been a lack of ice time or a chance in role that’s slowed him down; Leddy is still seeing at least 22 minutes a night (minus a blowout vs. Toronto) and prime time on the first power play unit, but over his last ten games he’s put up only one assist and 14SOG. That’s a far cry from the player Leddy was earlier this year. He can take a seat on the bench if there’s an up & comer you’d prefer to take a shot on, or grab someone who’s hitting a hot streak as a quick fill in.
The Anchors (They’ll do nothing but disappoint even over the long haul)
The People That Decide Goaltender Interference, NHL (Owned in 100 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – Can we just stop with this?
Zach Parise, LW, Minnesota Wild (Owned in 45 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – With Nino Niederreiter returning, Parise’s role in the top-6 is more tenuous than ever. Although he’s returning from major surgery and continues to fire the puck at a decent clip – 29SOG in 11 games – he’s neither getting the ice time (16:36/game), nor producing when he does. He’s been horrendous in leagues that track +/-, already -7 in those 11 games, and has only found the back of the net twice. There are better players available on the waiver wire in EVERY league, don’t be fooled by his past successes.
Love ‘Em (These squads are sure to pay dividends in the coming days)
San Jose – The Sharks have no Joe Thornton but they do have an excellent upcoming schedule, with seven games between the 2nd and the 14th. More than that, they’ll get to play the Oilers, Coyotes, Carolina and the Nathan MacKinnon-less Avalanche.
Boston – Beyond San Jose, there’s a very crowded group of teams that play five or six games, and Boston is in the latter group. Luckily for Boston, they’ll get to look to continue their rise to the top of the standings against some real bottom-feeders: at Detroit and the Rangers and at home vs. Buffalo and Calgary (where the 3M line’s defensive play will be muted thanks to Boston having last change).
Philadelphia – Philadelphia is in the same spot as Boston, with six games but some soft competition in those six. They Flyers get a stretch of home vs. Ottawa, at Carolina after a two-day break, then home vs. Montreal and back on the road against the Coyotes. With a power play that’s clicked for four goals in their past five games and the coming-out party of Travis Konecny, target your Flyers players.
Leave ‘Em (These squads will leave fantasy owners sorely disappointed in the short term)
Dallas – Excluding the game against the Rangers, the Stars don’t have the most enticing schedule with five games during this period; the Lone Star State team will play Minnesota, the Rangers, Pittsburgh and Vancouver at home, with their lone road game coming against Chicago – which immediately precedes their game against Pittsburgh.
Edmonton – Beyond their special teams woes – second-last in PP% (14.5%) and DFL in PK% (72.15%), the Oilers are a bottom-10 team in terms of goals per game, which is really what fantasy owners care about. That McDavid & co. have been so poor offensively this year is a disappointment, in the same way their upcoming schedule is: at LA/SJ/ANA, and home vs. Tampa and Florida. Ouch.
Florida – Not only do the Panthers only play five times in this stretch, but they have two days off between four of the five which makes it very tough in weekly leagues. The first three all come at home, against Detroit, Vancouver and LA, while the last two are part of their Western Canada swing – at Edmonton and Vancouver.

thats why, he decided to invite you to his apartment
you had a really hard time convincing your dad
after all, his first impression wasn't really good
but, promising you would get back in time
he gave you permission
then, cas camed to pick you up
and, he confidently said hello to your father and promised to take care of you

when you two arrived, his dog jumped right into your arms, licking your whole face

actually, he shared with you every song he writed

in a cool place, just under a palm tree, lys set up a cozy corner for both of them.
you both sat near the sea, the wind blowing your hair.

the water was calm, only those sounds of the waves swaying in the wind could be heard.

and with glassy eyes, you didn't give him time to finish, when you jumped into his arms.

when they parted, they kept their foreheads together.

so, i hope you guys know what laser tag is
well, in this game, there were 2 teams
and you both, ended up in two different ones, becoming rivals
the game consisted of shooting your opponent with a weapon, so that he would be eliminated and your team would take the lead
to tell the truth, you've never played before
in a way, it was similar to paintball
(at which, you weren't too skilled either)
anyway, you ended up successfully dodging the other players' shots
and, on occasions, you managed to shoot them
normally, the games last between 1 hour and a half or 2 hours
at the moment, their game had already been an hour and a half, and there was only one opponent left from the rival team and you
you were going around the labyrinth full of neon lights, being a bit difficult to spot the rest
and then you saw him
armin was the last target
"it can't be!" your boyfriend smiled at you, proud that you're the only one on your team still in the game
"i told you, you didn't trust my skills?" you laughed, approaching him slowly
"well, congratulations i guess. too bad you will lose now…" armin smirked.
you on the other hand, continued to approach. the black haired boy arched an eyebrow, looking at you questioningly
and then, being close enough to him, you clung to his neck, rising on tiptoe to join your lips to his in a sweet kiss.
armin was a little caught off guard, he took you by the waist.
and relaxing against you, pulled you closer, devouring your lips.
and once he let his guard down, you pulled away from him and shot in his direction
and when he had time to process it, the loudspeaker announced the victory of your team
"oh, come here, you little cheater!" and with a false expression of anger, armin began to tickle you
"it's only fair! You let your guard down!" you yelled while laughing
"yeah well i guess..." he smiled "kiss me again to make it up, and maybe i will forgive you.."
and with a big smile, you kissed him, feeling him smile against your mouth.

kentin thought a picnic date would be a good idea
once you arrived at the park, he chosed the tree with the most shade, placing the tablecloth and the food
the day was sunny, the river moving calmly, a nice wind..
it was the perfect weather
at lunchtime, after running around a bit, you two sat down to eat
"look, i cooked this…i don't know if it's going to be too good," kentin admitted, taking a slice of strawberry shortcake out of the basket.
"well, i don't think i'm gonna get intoxicated either" you joked.
"you're too mean to me" kentin smirked, carefully watching your expressions.
"it's not good, is it?"
in fact, it is true that it was a little burned, but,
what more adorable than eating a cake made especially for you from your boyfriend?
to think that he put so much effort into it, and that he made it with while thinking of you, was enough.
"it's delicious! A little too crispy, but delicious!" you ruffled his hair, the red of his cheeks spreading to his ears.
you were amused by how nervous he got when you touched him
after all, some things never change
soon, the wind grew stronger, and the day darkened
the clouds turned gray and the sun was hiding fast
and suddenly, a couple of drops began to fall
and just when they finished putting everything away, the rain was already soaking them completely
"this is amazing! there was supposed to be no rain.." kentin looked so upset
"ken, don't stress too much, i had a great time.."
"no...sorry. i screwed up! this wasn't supposed to turn out like this..."
for some reason, kentin was especially affected by the path the date was taking.
however, you had a brilliant idea
"look, you'll see that it's not all ruined!" you smiled
kentin looked at you doubtfully, as you took him by the hand and led him away from the tree, where the rain soaked them completely.
"did you never danced in the rain?" you asked, with a bright smile on your face
"n-no... well... not really..." with the hint of a smile on his face, he let herself be guided by you
and soon, you led him to dance with you ridiculously in the rain
"and you know what else i want to do?" you asked him
"what is it?"
and without giving warning, you jumped on him
quickly, he reacted and grabbed your thighs, pushing them so that your legs wrapped around his torso.
your arms wrapped around his neck, and his lips pressed against yours
it was a dream, a kiss in the rain
they were so close to each other that they only felt their body heat, the rain almost forgotten as the drops slid down their faces, soaking them completely
your fingers threaded through his caramel-colored hair, making him relax at your touch.
and then, after a torrid kiss, they parted ways
"i..this is better than what i had planned" kentin smiled, looking at you with bright eyes full of adoration
"anyway, just spending time with you was enough…" you smiled at him one more time, giving him one last short kiss.

you were so far away from him
he missed you, a lot, really
and he usually made a lot of efforts to go and see you
cas wanted to stay as long as he could with you, but he knew it wasnt possible
anyway, he tried
he tried so hard
so he couldnt understand why you were telling him this, he couldnt understand why you came to see him just to tell him that
"i can't do this anymore"
castiel acted as if your words didnt affect him, hearing you speak while having a blank face
but he was dying inside
and once you left, he destroyed everything
and cried until his eyes were red and his head started spinning
the next days he looked like a dead man
at least for a week

he just layed in bed, looking at the ceiling, trying to think what made you want to quit

but secretly, he's been planing your couple costume a few weeks ago
i feel like he REALLY loves halloween
or maybe he just likes scaring people and having a reason to do it
anyway
he keeps doing it to nath and ken
they hate him for it
but he laughs his ass of as he tells how loud their screans were
when the big day comes, he would shyly confess you that he already got your costumes
you would laugh and call him cute
he would blush but then brush it off making fun of you
as he always does😤
castiel took you to a hallowen party
it had amazing atractions
you two went to a scary house
he OBLIGUED you to go
it was an excuse to hold you

after it finished
he laughed at you and called you a baby

he made it up tomyou by buying you a really cool shirt

he thinks halloween is a nonsense holyday
but, he ends up celebrating it if you really like it
he would even agree to get a costume
and ofc you would MAKE HIM wear a police officer costume
and tbh he looked really hot
anyways, your plans at first were to stay home
but, some of your friends were throwing a halloween party, and you two were invited
he picked you up, and you two arrived to your friend's house
it was REALLY hard to convince him
and he acted as if he didnt wanted to go
but then he went crazy
drinking, dancing, even doing karaoke
you would film him and take a LOT of pics of him drunk while singing his favorite song
when he woked up the other day, he didnt remebered anything
so, you showed him the video
he was soo embarrased
let me tell you that you will have a hard time convicing him to go to a party w you next halloween.

i think lys is kind of used to halloween because of castiel
he used to also drag him to celebrate his favorite holiday with him
thats why he cant deny you when you invite him to decorate pumpkins w you
its kind of cliché
but, he really likes it
you two made a whole pumpking thing with candles and all that
and, used it to decore the school as they were organizing a halloween party
he didnt know if he actually wanted to go
but castiel and you took him anyway
(altought it wasn't really hard for you to make him wear his costume)
he was kinda uncomfy at first
but then he ended up having fun
halloween felt different w you
i mean, he liked going with his best friend

and you gaved halloween, a holyday he didnt liked much, a new a meaning
and, as long as it means spending time with you, lys loved halloween.

anyway, he doesnt really need an excuse to cosplay a character of a game he likes
but, it was an excuse to make YOU cosplay someone
he really had to work hard to convince you
but when he did, he was really happy
armin throwed a huge party at his house and invited everyone
and he OBLIGUED them to come cosplayed
and he def made fun of everyone
every single person
if castiel camed with a costume, or kentin
neither him or alexy would stop repeating it for the rest of their lifes
but it was different w you
he loved how pretty you looked
and he made sure you knew it
he complimented you the whole night and took a lot of pics
he made polaroid and gave it to you as your first halloween as a couple.

i think the fact that ken made you watch the whole saga of twilight w him its totally canon
in case you hadn't ofc
so, he decided to dress up as jacob
he kind of felt identified with his character
and, as a matter of a fact
he made you dress up as bella
he took a lot of pics too
and published them in every social media
he loved showing you off and how pretty you were that night
he liked that part of halloween
parties, costumes, the decoration..
the part he didn't liked much, was the prank part
the twins loved to make everyone angry by pranking them all the time
and let's just say kentin was his main target
but anyway, none of that really matters to him
because, since he met you
he wanted to spend this holydays with you
no matter wich one is
he loved you so much
thats why you made everything better for him.
