I tried looking around in search and in the archive, but most of the posts are from years ago so the answer might be different now. If it is different, I have the old tried and true question: what brushes do you use? Im in love with the subtle textures. Thank you!
Hello !
For my personal illustrations, I use mostly Procreate, so I'll answer on my procreate brushes ; I use photoshop for my pro work and in that case it kind of just depends on the project and I have a lot of brushes I made or got working on different productions so I can't really share.
My main inking brush on Procreate is the default brush called Dry Ink. I've modified it to reduce the pressure variation on thickness. I also sometimes use it for detailing for when I paint.
My main sketching brush is Color Burn from Tristan Yuvienco's brush set. (I only use it in black, but I find it super comfortable for rough sketching).
For colour and painting, I use various brushes from Max Ulichney's amazing Gouache Maxpack. Those gouache brushes are the best I've seen and they work great for me.
That's basically my rotation. I sometimes use other stuff but I find that those allow me a fairly good range of rendering variations. Hope that helps !

Hello I love your art so much especially the watercolour brush you use! If you dont mind, could you tell me what program you use and what the brush is called? Ty 🥰💕
AUGHHHHHH thank you!!! And I don’t mind at all!! As long as you don’t mind me throwing in other brushes in this ask jskdkd I had another person ask me which brushes I use and I am an ass at answering so… two birds w one stone 😭🙏
So the water color brush comes from MaxPacks!! That’s my go to shading brush, but you should play with all of the other brushes in the pack!! I’m still figuring them out akdndk but they are funnn
The lining/sketching brush I often use is Rusty Nib #3 from the Debaser pack! They also have paper textures which I sometimes use!! I have a few of their packs sndnddn
Then there’s Funny Haha Brush I use for lineart and the procreate pencil brush 🫡 sometimes I use it to sketch sometimes to line or to shade!!

garlic scapes and sour grass
redraw of this dude. cant believe how shit my composition used to be. im still not immune to the maxpacks gouache brushes, though.
[ID: A digital painting. A nude trans man lies in the grass by a creek. He reclines upside down, with his head towards the bottom of the page and his knees towards the top, his hair splaying out around him. A pile of garlic scapes lies on his shoulder. The peice is surrounded in a border of oragami paper and gold foil. End ID.]

i never understand why ppl get mad when a digital brush pack is like 25$ instead of free like dont buy it then lol.. brushmaking takes a lot of effort believe it or not and its also. a way for artists to make a bit of passive income i dont get the issue

The second loose painting experiment featuring party members from the game I'm DMing; this is Fiera the half-drow druid (and camp counselor) and she belongs to @kanthia
Oil Maxpack, the Sadie Lew oil sets, and some old fav brushes in Procreate. I'm not 100% happy with the expression but toothy smiles are hard, I tried
