Here's the breakdown:

The main rack of equipment contains the following (from the top):

Knox RS16x16 composite video/audio router

Blackmagic Design Smart Videohub 20x20 3G-SDI video router (3G -SDI is equivalent to 1080p60)

Kramer VP-501XL UXGA (VGA at 1600x1200) to composite converter

CQ-900 Real Time Color Quad (allows 4 video composite video signals to be combined into one, spaced into 4 quadrants)

Extron AVT-100 tuner (for demodulating RF on old game systems)

Extron DVS-304 Scan Converter/Scaler (DVI version with SDI input option)

Videotek VSG-201D 601 Digital Sync Generator (barely used)

Digital Processing Systems Inc. DPS-220 TBC/Frame Synchronizer

Ubiquity Unifi 24 port gigabit switch (unrelated to video stuff)

Hidden behind the rack are a pair of Blackmagic Design signal converters: one SDI to Analog, and one Analog to SDI.

The RS16x16 takes center stage, since most standard definition signals and all of the audio routes through it. Here's the current router chart:

Video and audio on this router can be sent as a pair, or separately as I so choose. I control it via the front panel keypad and watch the status on the LED matrix, but I can also run it via RS232 in a terminal. I've been thinking of making my own control panel for it modeled after the NV9601.

Many of these sources are audio from my various computers, video and audio from vintage computers, connections for a game system or two, and some other oddities. The destinations are a few vintage computer monitors and some video encoder devices on my various desktops, which I control mostly from OBS.

The last 4 destinations are the CQ-900 Quad's inputs for video, and 4 faders on my AM500 Stereo Mixer for audio. This means I can pick 4 things and give each one a fader on the mixer:

This is my Atus AM500 stereo mixer. The output of which runs to the Scott Integrated Amplifier 480A below, which runs to two sets of speakers in my workshop. I can have a video game running on one fader, audio from a voice chat on another, and music on a third. Works great for co-op games or streaming stuff.

Source/Destination #10 is labeled Bench, which is my workbench across the room:

On the workbench I have a Knox RS8x8 composite video router hooked to a bidirectional tie line to the main RX16x16 router. This means I can send a signal over to the test equipment, or send something being tested on the bench over to the main router, and then to an encoder device. There's also an SDI line to carry the HD feed from one of my bench cameras over to the SDI router, but I don't always use that.

The workbench router doesn't have too much wired to it, so I haven't written up a chart. I've got two bench cameras, a small monochrome monitor, and a TV, plus the ability to run video cables directly to an oscilloscope.

Here's what it looks like behind the main rack:

Yeah. It's a mess, but it's always in flux, so I don't bother arranging the cables too neatly. I try to use BNC terminated cables whenever possible, but occasionally I have to use RCA adapters. Right now the TBC and the Sync Generator aren't wired up because I don't need them. I unplug the SDI router when I'm not using it because it's loud and obnoxious.

Most of this is surplus gear I got for cheap, mixed in with inexpensive new bits and pieces of things I scored online. I've got other equipment scattered about that I connect as needed. There are also video adapters you don't see here, and this doesn't even cover all of the various encoding hardware I have installed in my desktop computers.

So, that's my setup (as of right now). It will be different in a month, I'm sure.

Live Sound Workshop

I have been attending live sound workshops provided by the university music team. Within these sessions I have learnt how to setup the ‘band room’ correctly to maximise sound quality so the audience can get the best possible audio experience!

First step was setup. Making sure that everything was powered with the same ring, but the overall Amps were not passing the fuse-point levels. Correctly spacing out speakers and subs so the sound was equal left and right.

This mixing board (behringer x32) contains volume adjusters for each channel (Red), Screen for adjustments and settings (Green) and matrix groupings (Blue). The goal is to get each instrument at a volume level so that nothing is overtaking other instruments, and that sound is clean, with no problems such as loud feedback or humming that can distort the overall sound output.

We also used EQ to create our own cross points between the subs and speakers. This separates low end frequency and high end frequency’s.

Drums set up with microphones for kick, snare, toms and overhead for picking up cymbals.

XLR inputs from live stage (amps, drum microphones, vocal mics), this audio will be connected into the mixer at the back. each instrument has its own channel so there can be control over every aspect of each instrument.

We then did ‘squeak’ tests on vocal microphones, this is to remove problematic frequencies that can cause feedback.

Then we were finished!

L'estate di Praja Gallipoli, paradiso di divertimento e musica gestito da Musicaeparole, uno degli organizzatori di riferimento in Europa per quel che riguarda il divertimento (e non solo), continua. Il lungo weekend che inizia il 7/7 e continua fino al 9/7 è decisamente scatenato.

Giovedì 6 luglio, come capita da tempo, il festival Popfest People on Pleasure viene aperto dai Milk Bar, ovvero Silvio Carrano e Marcello Lepore, talenti pugliesi della musica elettronica. I loro dischi ed i loro dj set fanno ballare il mondo. "E' complicato proporre novità assolute, perché i dj, soprattutto in italia, non rischiano, e programmare un brano che non sia già un successo conclamato è virtù di pochi" ragionava Silvio Carrano recentemente in una intervista ad AllaDiscoteca.com "I nostri colleghi più giovani dovrebbero iniziare a cogliere la vera essenza del nostro lavoro, ossia divulgare la buona musica. E i direttori artistici, spesso incompetenti, dovrebbero fidarsi. La gente mica scappa via se non usi i mash-up di Elettra Lamborghini".

Venerdì 7 luglio torna Big Mama party decisamente scatenato dai ritmi latin, hip hop & un sound black music assolutamente scatenato, alla Praja Gallipoli.

Sabato 8 luglio ecco un trio decisamente amatissimo sul palco della Praja: ci sono gli Eiffel 65 con il loro dj set. Quello della band torinese è ancora oggi un successo planetario, con oltre 15 milioni di dischi venduti e successi internazionali. Parliamo di brani ancora attuali del calibro di "Blue", "Move Your Body", "Lucky in My" Life e "Too Much of Heaven". Sono anche mille altre le canzoni degli Eiffel entrate ormai nelle orecchie e nel cuore di milioni di persone. Il nome Eiffel 65 fu scelto casualmente da un software; i componenti della band, veri esperti di computer e campionamenti, fin dall'inizio scelsero la strada dell'autoproduzione e aprirono un attrezzatissimo studio (la Bliss Corporation) nella loro città. Dagli anni '90 ad oggi il loro successo è una costante nella musica da ballo nel mondo. Con loro anche Ludwig, ovvero Ludovico Franchitti, ex Dark Polo Gang, un personaggio di riferimento nella scena trap italiana. Sarebbe già abbastanza ma ci sono anche Gli Avvocati Divorzisti, live band capace di coinvolgere chiunque con la sua energia.

Domenica 9 luglio ecco una divertente Zarro Night (nella foto) con Dj Matrix @ Praja Gallipoli by Musicaeparole. E' la notte perfetta per cantare e ballare tutte le hit anni 90 - 2000 con gli amici fino all'alba. Dj Matrix è un maestro in questo tipo di serate, decisamente scatenate.

L'estate della Praja Gallipoli spinge forte a ritmo di musica che fa scatenare. Ormai il calendario lo dice chiaramente e l'estate della Praja Gallipoli, discoteca simbolo del divertimento estivo italiano gestita da Musicaeparole, continua a far ballare anche a fine giugno 2023 dopo aver iniziato la sua stagione il 17 giugno con un super party che ha visto sul palco Federico Scavo al mixer e il violino di Mark Lanzetta... il locale ha risposto alla grande alla splendida musica proposta da questi due artisti. Anche il party di qualche notte fa con Francesca Brambilla e Fred De Palma, grandi protagonisti musicali dell'estate italiana...

A luglio e agosto, nell'estate 2023 la Praja Gallipoli (Lecce), capitale musicale del Salento e del divertimento è aperta 7 sere su 7, spesso con due o tre superstar sul palco ogni sera. Musicaeparole sta comunicando via via la presenza, come capita del resto ogni anno di tanti top dj mondiali.

Il 27 luglio, ancora per Popfest, ecco Merk & Kremont, super dj italiani che producono tanti artisti tra cui quella di Sangiovanni ed Il Pagante. Ecco poi un dj set molto atteso per il 10 luglio: al mixer della Praja c'è Ale Basciano, che divide la console con un artista da sempre amico della Praja, Cristian Marchi.

E ancora: l'italiano Gabry Ponte è atteso il 26 luglio; Bob Sinclar, il re di Francia e del Salento, torna alla Praja il 3 agosto... ed è già stata annunciata mentre scriviamo anche la presenza di Steve Aoki, ovviamente per Popfest, il festival più internazionale della Praja Gallipoli. Il super dj americano sarà alla Praja Gallipoli il 14 agosto, per un Ferragosto scatenato.

Tra gli altri dj set egli eventi già annunciati, a luglio '23, c'è una serie di eventi davvero da non perdere. Oltre a diversi eventi legati al Sottosopra Fest, ecco due dj set scatenati per Popfest - People on Pleasure: il 20 luglio arriva Timmy con la sua tromba, mentre Acraze arriva il 27 luglio con i suoi ritmi irresistibili.

Praja Gallipoli (Musicaeparole), si balla sempre: 6/7 Milk Bar per il Popfest, 7/7 Big Mama, 8/7 Eiffel 65 e Ludwig, 9/7 Zarro Night con Dj Matrix

L'estate di Praja Gallipoli, paradiso di divertimento e musica gestito da Musicaeparole, uno degli organizzatori di riferimento in Europa per quel che riguarda il divertimento (e non solo), continua. Il lungo weekend che inizia il 7/7 e continua fino al 9/7 è decisamente scatenato.

Giovedì 6 luglio, come capita da tempo, il festival Popfest People on Pleasure viene aperto dai Milk Bar, ovvero Silvio Carrano e Marcello Lepore, talenti pugliesi della musica elettronica. I loro dischi ed i loro dj set fanno ballare il mondo. "E' complicato proporre novità assolute, perché i dj, soprattutto in italia, non rischiano, e programmare un brano che non sia già un successo conclamato è virtù di pochi" ragionava Silvio Carrano recentemente in una intervista ad AllaDiscoteca.com "I nostri colleghi più giovani dovrebbero iniziare a cogliere la vera essenza del nostro lavoro, ossia divulgare la buona musica. E i direttori artistici, spesso incompetenti, dovrebbero fidarsi. La gente mica scappa via se non usi i mash-up di Elettra Lamborghini".

Venerdì 7 luglio torna Big Mama party decisamente scatenato dai ritmi latin, hip hop & un sound black music assolutamente scatenato, alla Praja Gallipoli.

Sabato 8 luglio ecco un trio decisamente amatissimo sul palco della Praja: ci sono gli Eiffel 65 con il loro dj set. Quello della band torinese è ancora oggi un successo planetario, con oltre 15 milioni di dischi venduti e successi internazionali. Parliamo di brani ancora attuali del calibro di "Blue", "Move Your Body", "Lucky in My" Life e "Too Much of Heaven". Sono anche mille altre le canzoni degli Eiffel entrate ormai nelle orecchie e nel cuore di milioni di persone. Il nome Eiffel 65 fu scelto casualmente da un software; i componenti della band, veri esperti di computer e campionamenti, fin dall'inizio scelsero la strada dell'autoproduzione e aprirono un attrezzatissimo studio (la Bliss Corporation) nella loro città. Dagli anni '90 ad oggi il loro successo è una costante nella musica da ballo nel mondo. Con loro anche Ludwig, ovvero Ludovico Franchitti, ex Dark Polo Gang, un personaggio di riferimento nella scena trap italiana. Sarebbe già abbastanza ma ci sono anche Gli Avvocati Divorzisti, live band capace di coinvolgere chiunque con la sua energia.

Domenica 9 luglio ecco una divertente Zarro Night (nella foto) con Dj Matrix @ Praja Gallipoli by Musicaeparole. E' la notte perfetta per cantare e ballare tutte le hit anni 90 - 2000 con gli amici fino all'alba. Dj Matrix è un maestro in questo tipo di serate, decisamente scatenate.

L'estate della Praja Gallipoli spinge forte a ritmo di musica che fa scatenare. Ormai il calendario lo dice chiaramente e l'estate della Praja Gallipoli, discoteca simbolo del divertimento estivo italiano gestita da Musicaeparole, continua a far ballare anche a fine giugno 2023 dopo aver iniziato la sua stagione il 17 giugno con un super party che ha visto sul palco Federico Scavo al mixer e il violino di Mark Lanzetta... il locale ha risposto alla grande alla splendida musica proposta da questi due artisti. Anche il party di qualche notte fa con Francesca Brambilla e Fred De Palma, grandi protagonisti musicali dell'estate italiana...

A luglio e agosto, nell'estate 2023 la Praja Gallipoli (Lecce), capitale musicale del Salento e del divertimento è aperta 7 sere su 7, spesso con due o tre superstar sul palco ogni sera. Musicaeparole sta comunicando via via la presenza, come capita del resto ogni anno di tanti top dj mondiali.

Il 12 agosto, dopo il concerto di Mara Sattei, torna il groove di Benny Benassi @ Popfest - People on Pleasure c/o Praja Gallipoli. Il 30 luglio c'è il pop scatenato di Irama, una vera star per chi ama la musica italiana. Il 27 luglio, ancora per Popfest, ecco Merk & Kremont, super dj italiani che producono tanti artisti tra cui quella di Sangiovanni ed Il Pagante. Ecco poi un dj set molto atteso per il 10 luglio: al mixer della Praja c'è Ale Basciano, che divide la console con un artista da sempre amico della Praja, Cristian Marchi.

E ancora: l'italiano Gabry Ponte è atteso il 26 luglio; Bob Sinclar, il re di Francia e del Salento, torna alla Praja il 3 agosto... ed è già stata annunciata mentre scriviamo anche la presenza di Steve Aoki, ovviamente per Popfest, il festival più internazionale della Praja Gallipoli. Il super dj americano sarà alla Praja Gallipoli il 14 agosto, per un Ferragosto scatenato.

Tra gli altri dj set egli eventi già annunciati, a luglio '23, c'è una serie di eventi davvero da non perdere. Oltre a diversi eventi legati al Sottosopra Fest, ecco due dj set scatenati per Popfest - People on Pleasure: il 20 luglio arriva Timmy con la sua tromba, mentre Acraze arriva il 27 luglio con i suoi ritmi irresistibili.

Riassumendo, l'estate targata Praja Gallipoli e Musicaeaparole è tutta da vivere, ovviamente in Salento.
