What's your favourite (alleged) UFO/UAP crash incident?!
Mine's the Aurora Incident, Roswell maybe more popular but considering the year of the Aurora Incident and the descriptions/testimonies, I cannot not be enthralled.
The aurora incident is a cool story! I should look more into it honestly bc I only know the basics, I'm not as well versed in the ones that happened pre 20th century as I am with more recent ones, aside from really well known stuff like 1561 Nuremberg celestial phenomenon.
Off the top of my head some of my fave UAP encounter incidents are the Benton harbor weather station sighting/recording in 94 (I love this one bc it happened like an hr and a half away from where I live, just across lake michigan, and it's very heavily backed up with hard data from a reliable source along with tons of eyewitnesses), the navy pilots sighting of the tic tac object near the aircraft carrier nimitz off the the coast of San diego-where advanced military tech recorded them breaking the laws of physics (descending 80k feet in under a second) and also the related ATFLIR tictac recorded along the east coast, the rendlesham forest incident in the UK, Ariel school mass sighting in Zimbabwe (this one is fun), the Phoenix lights. I particularly love any videos captured by pilots, military or commercial, from the cockpit bc it feels less likely to be a hoax esp if sonar readings pick up the object as well.
Just realized none of these except rendlesham are actually crashes, just encounters lol. I love this stuff so much. By far my favorite UAP encounter was my own though! I saw 3 of them (well, 2 combined to make 1 I'm pretty sure) hovering around my house last winter. One of the coolest moments of my life.

The mystifying Voronezh UFO incident.
On September 27, 1989, in Voronezh, the skies bore witness to a perplexing event that would captivate the world's imagination. An eerily glowing, cylindrical UFO reportedly descended upon a city park, leaving onlookers in awe and disbelief.
What followed was the emergence of humanoid beings, unlike anything anyone had seen before. According to TASS, boys playing football in a city park "saw a pink glow in the sky, then saw a deep red ball about three meters in diameter. The ball circled, vanished, then reappeared minutes later and hovered. " The children claimed to have seen "a three-eyed alien" wearing bronze coloured boots with a disk on the chest and a robot, exiting the object. According to the children, the alien used a ray gun to make a 16-year-old boy disappear until the object departed.
The incident quickly captured international attention, making headlines in newspapers and news broadcasts. Though the children were the only ones claiming to have witnessed the aliens, Lieutenant Sergei A. Matveyev of the Voronezh district police station claimed to have seen "a body flying in the sky." The Interior Ministry said they would dispatch troops to the area should the object reappear.
On October 9, 1989, TASS reported that a correspondent had spoken to "10 or 12 youths" who claimed to have seen a flying saucer.
Despite the astonishing nature of the claims, skepticism shrouded the incident. Some argued that the event could be attributed to misperception, exaggeration, or even deliberate fabrication. The notion of collective hallucination or mass hysteria was put forth as a possible explanation for the perceived sightings and interactions.

SUPERMAN! MYSTERIOUS HERO SAVES THE WORLD
By Lois Lane, Senior Staff Writer
PUBLISHED: 23:00, 13th December 2013 | UPDATED: 23:46, 13th December 2013
Tumblr media
STRANGE VISITOR? Satellite footage taken from Wayne Enterprises.
An epic showdown over the skies of metropolis, the caped wonder we now call Superman, along with the United States Air Force, defeated a group of alien terrorists attempting to destroy the city and ultimately, the world.
Days ago General Zod and his Kryptonian army invaded global airspace, and declared the citizens of the Earth were harbouring a fugitive from the planet called Krypton. As government agencies scrambled to respond, clues about the alien living among us had already been discovered deep beneath a glacier in the Canadian Arctic Region, specifically Ellesmere Island. Embedded with the military and scientific teams of NORTHCOM, I witnessed their detection of a mass concealed in the ice. It was first believed that what they had found was Soviet era submarine, what they discovered was actually something much more exotic.
Interestingly, a series of UFO sightings occurred in the Manitoba region between 1975 and 1976. A mysterious signal began to emanate from beneath the ice of Ellesmere Island sometime in 2012, which was detected by a NASA satellite. The satellite then picked out an anomaly within the ice shelves. A mission to scope the icefield was commissioned in 2012 at the same site as Scout Ship 0344. Only, the Scout Ship was discovered a year later when I arrived.
An isotope analysis of the surrounding ice bores suggested that an object had been trapped in the glacier for over 18,000 years. The Pentagon was quick to deny any such encounter, but when the ship broke through its icy bounds and disappeared into the sky, questions were raised from locals in the area. Civilian contractors corroborated my recollection and their description of the ship matched my own. I had a firsthand experience in dealing with the alien visitor. He had secured a job working on the military base stationed just outside of Yellowknife, the capital, and the only city, and has the largest community in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
I followed the mystery man into the glacier, when I was scoping the area. He seemed to have known how the ship operated and activated it successfully. He rescued me when I was wounded from a Kryptonian robot, he possessed godlike strength and could shoot heat lasers from his eyes. My rescuer saved me from death, for which I am eternally grateful. I was unable to regain consciousness for a prolonged period of time and when I woke up, I was taken back to mainland Canada by military personnel with no answers from my questions posed by this appearance of an alien ship.
As for my rescuer? He disappeared during the object's departure. A background check revealed that his work history and identity had been falsified. The questions raised by my rescuer's existence were frightening to contemplate, but I also know what I saw I arrived at the inescapable conclusion that the object and its occupant did not originate on earth. Teams from across the world tried to track the ship, but were unable to locate its whereabouts.

The UFO of Florence, Italy, 1954
It was 27 October 1954, a typically crisp autumn day in Tuscany. The mighty Fiorentina club was playing against its local rival Pistoiese.
Ten-thousand fans were watching in the concrete bowl of the Stadio Artemi Franchi. But just after half-time the stadium fell eerily silent - then a roar went up from the crowd. The spectators were no longer watching the match, but were looking up at the sky, fingers pointing. The players stopped playing, the ball rolled to a stand-still.
One of the footballers on the pitch was Ardico Magnini - he was something of a legend at the club and had played for Italy at the 1954 World Cup.
"I remember everything from A to Z," he says. "It was something that looked like an egg that was moving slowly, slowly, slowly. Everyone was looking up and also there was some glitter coming down from the sky, silver glitter. We were astonished we had never seen anything like it before. We were absolutely shocked."
Play was suspended because spectators saw something in the sky, according to the referee's match report.
Among the crowd was Gigi Boni, a lifelong Fiorentina fan. "I remember clearly seeing this incredible sight," he says. His description of multiple objects differs slightly from Magnini's.
"They were moving very fast and then they just stopped. It all lasted a couple of minutes. I would like to describe them as being like Cuban cigars. They just reminded me of Cuban cigars, in the way they looked."
The incident at the stadium cannot simply be interpreted as mass hysteria - there were numerous UFO sightings in many towns across Tuscany that day and over the days that followed. According to some eyewitness accounts a ray of white light was seen in the sky coming from Prato, north of Florence.
Another weird occurrence of that day was the silver substance that fell from the sky over the stadium. Variously described by witnesses as similar to cotton wool or cobwebs, the substance was hard to collect because it disintegrated on contact - but some people were determined to find out what it was.
Tumblr media
(the ‘substance’ that fell from the sky)
One of them was a journalist at the Florentine newspaper La Nazione, the late Giorgio Batini. In 2003 he told an Italian television programme, Voyager, how on that day he received hundreds of phone calls about the sightings. From the offices of La Nazione in the centre of town his own view of the sky was blocked by the Cathedral, so he went up to the top of the newspaper's building to see what everyone was talking about. The 81-year-old recalled seeing "shiny balls" moving fast towards the dome of the Cathedral.
Batini ventured out to investigate. He came across a wood outside the city that was covered in the white fluff. He gathered several samples by rolling them up on a matchstick, and took them to the Institute of Chemical Analysis at the University of Florence. When he got there he found that others had done the same.
The lab, led by respected scientist Prof Giovanni Canneri, subjected the material to spectrographic analysis and concluded that it contained the elements boron, silicon, calcium and magnesium, and that it was not radioactive. Unfortunately this did not provide any conclusive answers - and the material was destroyed in the process.
Sixty plus years on, the chances of determining the cause of the incident are slim.

The Mass UFO sighting in Ancient Egypt
Tumblr media
The fascination with unidentified flying objects (UFOs) is not a modern phenomenon. Throughout history, there have been numerous accounts of mysterious objects in the sky, many of which predate the invention of flight by millennia.
The Tulli Papyrus document has intrigued historians and UFO enthusiasts for years. It is believed to be an account of a massive UFO encounter that took place during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III in ancient Egypt. The papyrus was named after Alberto Tulli, director of the Vatican Museum's Egyptian section, who reportedly came across the document in a Cairo antique shop in 1933. Although the original document was too expensive for Tulli to purchase, he made a copy, which was later transcribed from the original hieratic script into hieroglyphs. Some have questioned the document's authenticity due to the transcription process, which introduced opportunities for error and embellishment. Despite concerns regarding its authenticity, the Tulli Papyrus has been cited as one of the earliest known records of what could be described as a fleet of flying saucers. The text describes a celestial event witnessed by Pharaoh Thutmose III, where "circles of fire" filled the sky. Although the papyrus is incomplete, it has been translated. It suggests that this event left the royal scribes and witnesses in awe.
Tumblr media
The alleged UFO encounter described in the Tulli Papyrus would have occurred during the reign of Thutmose III, a significant period in ancient Egypt's history. Thutmose III ruled Egypt during the 18th dynasty from approximately 1479 to 1425 BC, a time often referred to as Egypt's imperial age. This era was marked by military conquests and the empire's expansion, as well as great wealth, artistic achievement, and architectural innovation. The construction of numerous temples and monuments, many of which still stand today, was a testament to the prosperity and cultural richness of the time. The ancient Egyptians, with their emphasis on celestial events and their belief in the gods' communication through the stars and planets, meticulously recorded astronomical occurrences. These records were often interpreted as omens or messages from the divine.
The Tulli Papyrus is the center of debates about extraterrestrial encounters and ancient Egypt. The papyrus describes "circles of fire" that appeared in the sky during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III. This account could be evidence of a genuine UFO sighting. In contrast, others argue that it is merely a work of fiction. Those who support the idea that the Tulli Papyrus is an accurate account of an ancient encounter with the unknown point out that the ancient Egyptians were knowledgeable astronomers. They sophisticatedly understood the heavens and often precisely documented celestial events. Therefore, it is unlikely that they would mistake a common astronomical phenomenon for something as extraordinary as the event described in the papyrus.
Tumblr media
Furthermore, the emotional response of the witnesses, as recorded in the papyrus, adds a human element to the UFO sighting. The witnesses, including the royal scribes, were reportedly in awe and fear, a reaction that could be consistent with encountering something beyond their understanding or experience. This emotional response could indicate the event's authenticity. Moreover, the level of detail provided in the Tulli Papyrus is unusual for typical mythological storytelling. The description of multiple objects, their motion, and their effect on the observers could suggest that the scribe was attempting to record an actual event as accurately as possible. However, skeptics point out that the Tulli Papyrus is not an original document but a transcription, which means there is potential for errors or embellishments to have been introduced.
The Tulli Papyrus remains an enduring enigma, whether it describes a genuine UFO sighting or is simply a product of myth and legend. It continues to capture the imagination and invites us to ponder the mysteries of the past. The document challenges us to keep an open mind about the possibilities of human experience and the vast, uncharted territories of our ancient heritage. The truth may be lost to the sands of time. Still, the story endures, a testament to humanity's eternal quest to understand the universe and our place within it.
Let us delve into a fascinating journey exploring notable UFO sightings from antiquity.
The Phantasmal Ships of Rome
In 218 BC, the Roman historian Livy recorded prodigies in the winter sky during the buildup to the Second Punic War, including "phantom ships that had been seen gleaming in the sky." This description aligns eerily with modern reports of UFOs, suggesting that even in ancient times, people witnessed phenomena that defied explanation.
The Spark of Pliny
Pliny the Elder, a Roman author and naturalist, described an event in 76 BC in which a spark fell from a star and grew as it descended, eventually appearing as large as the Moon before ascending back into the heavens. This account bears a striking resemblance to modern descriptions of UFOs changing size and shape.
The Wine-Jar Flames of Phrygia
In 73 BC, the Roman army, commanded by Lucullus, was about to engage Mithridates VI of Pontus when "the sky burst asunder, and a huge, flame-like body was seen to fall between the two armies," described by Plutarch as being shaped like a wine jar. Such an event would undoubtedly be classified as a UFO sighting today.
The Celestial Chariots of Judea
Flavius Josephus, a Romano-Jewish historian, reported seeing chariots "hurtling through the clouds" in the skies of Judea around AD 65, before the First Jewish–Roman War. These celestial chariots could be interpreted as ancient depictions of alien spacecraft.
The Silver Rain of Rome
In AD 196, the historian Cassius Dio recounted a "fine rain resembling silver" that descended from a clear sky upon the Forum of Augustus in Rome. He claimed this substance temporarily plated bronze coins, only to vanish days later. This phenomenon, called "angel hair," is often associated with modern UFO sightings.
The Airships of Clonmacnoise
In the annals of Irish history, entries from around AD 740 describe "ships with their crews were seen in the air" over Ireland. These accounts from the Ulster, Tigernach, Clonmacnoise, and the Four Masters annals suggest aerial phenomena that defy conventional explanation.
While varied in detail and geography, these ancient accounts share common themes with modern UFO sightings. They describe unexplainable objects and events in the sky, invoking wonder and fear in those who witnessed them. Whether these were early encounters with extraterrestrial visitors, natural phenomena misinterpretations, or myths and legends, they contribute to the rich tapestry of human history and our quest to understand the unknown.
As we continue to gaze upward, the stories of ancient skies remind us that the mystery of UFOs is not a new curiosity but a timeless intrigue that spans the history of civilization. What were our ancestors witnessing? Were they visitors from distant worlds or something else entirely? The answers may be lost to time, but the legacy of these sightings endures, fueling our imagination and our desire to explore the cosmos.

Men in black in action. Nevada desert 1952
The Man in Black are figures said to operate in the real world, although their existence is shrouded in mystery and many conspiracy theories. According to these theories, the Man in Black are either government agents or members of a secret organization in charge of covering up UFO sightings and keeping contacts with extraterrestrial entities secret.
The Man in Black are said to wear all-black clothing and are said to arrive at places where alien sightings or encounters have occurred, threatening or intimidating those involved into keeping quiet. They are described as nameless and emotionless individuals who seem to be alien to our humanity.
These agents may suddenly show up at the homes of eyewitnesses to sightings, trying to persuade them not to speak publicly about the incident. They may use intimidating methods, threatening legal consequences or even suggesting the possibility of physical harm. They are also said to have the ability to manipulate physical evidence of sightings, erasing or destroying evidence that might support the existence of UFOs.
The reason behind their actions is a matter of speculation. Some suggest that their purpose is to preserve social order and stability, avoiding the mass panic that could be caused by a revelation of encounters with extraterrestrials. Others believe that there is some sort of secret agreement between the government and the alien entities, and that the Man in Black are charged with enforcing that agreement and maintaining its confidentiality.

Ep 269: The Hitchhiker of Mogollon Rim
"The trickster is found worldwide. Superficially, his tales seem little more than entertaining stories for children, but they encode important truths. The trickster is central to many religious beliefs, and some of the tales are sacred. In fact, a number of cultures permit only a few persons to tell the stories and restrict when they can be told because they have a power of their own."  -- "The Trickster and the Paranormal," by George P. Hansen
Description:
The Mogollon Rim in northcentral Arizona is a geological landform that spans around 200 miles east to west, demarking the southern boundary of the Colorado Plateau in the state. This topographical feature is classified as an escarpment where wide and steeply sloping cliffs and rock masses delineate the high pine-covered plateau on the northern side, which receives cold winter temperatures and light snow from the desert-like conditions below to the south. This transitional nature provides a habitat for significantly varying types of plants and animals. Perhaps because of Mogollon Rim’s liminal nature, this variance is claimed by many to also extend to creatures and phenomena that dwell beyond our understanding. Accounts and legends of UFOs, supernatural occurrences, and even its own brand of a hominin-like beast known as the “Mogollon Monster” are familiar to the territory. The supernatural element became all too real for our guest, Jay, who endured a terrifying encounter while working as a wildlife biologist for the Arizona Game and Fish Department. While studying black bears in the rugged canyons and terrain of the Rim, Jay encountered an impossible stranger in a pretty unlikely place, one that insisted on getting a ride. But who or what was this thing, and what was their intention? An ancient spirit known to the Native American cultures of the region or a physical being with mystical powers masquerading as a weird human? While it is never advisable to pick up strangers, it seems that one may be compelled to give a ride to a hitchhiker on Mogollon Rim, maybe as just a playful reminder that humans are not the apex of the paranormal food chain.

THE LUBBOCK LIGHTS - Lubbock, Texas - First seen on August 25, 1951 by a group of local professors, the strange formation of nocturnal lights known as "The Lubbock Lights" would be seen (and photographed by Carl Hart Jr. on August 30th) by dozens of local witnesses over the following weeks. Reported by the popular media (including LIFE Magazine), and investigated by the US Air Force, the encounters at Lubbock would come to be known as one of the first celebrated mass sightings in UFO history. Skeptics of the period attributed the sightings to a formation of reflective birds. ❝ Very cute, ❞ he agrees.
Certainly a lot fuzzier than the Iron Moth Paradox that inhabited parts of Area Zero. AIdrés was certain that it was a lot less likely to be mistaken for a UFO, too, unlike the sea of alien rumours that inevitably accompanied any Iron Moth sighting. He would have thought that Paldea would have known better than to believe that superstitious mass hysteria so easily, but alas...
