Do you have a recap of the panel from the earlier day that you posted pics from as well? Or only the last day? (No rush to post it if you do, just want to know whether it’ll be coming).
The Saturday VIP panel was awkwardly run, and not as good as the Monday Panels. I did take some notes after I left just for myself so I would remember what they talked about. They aren’t as comprehensive because I hadn’t yet realised people would be as interested in knowing.
I have had a few people ask about the first panel so I’ll put my notes below for those who are interested. I haven’t edited these so if there’s any spelling or grammar mistakes forgive me. And just to note, a lot of what was said was repeated again in the Monday panels because people asked similar questions.
Michelle
My favourite Michelle story was her saying when she pinned Peter to the wall and kissed him and she held her other hand back behind her and Jenna just took her hand and held it in her own and she turned to Jenna and said you’re weird.
She auditioned for a different role got it had to turn it down because she was working on something else at the time, wouldn’t say what, but told Moffatt that if anything else came up to give her a call because she really wanted to do Doctor Who. Then she got a call from her agent they asked if she was sitting, so she sat down, and they told her that Moffatt wanted her to play the master and she asked her agent is Moffatt new she was a woman, her agent said yes and the rest is history. Also a number of answer were similar to the main panels because people asked similar questions between the panels.
It was Moffatt’s idea for Mary Poppins to be the most terrible villain in the universe, which she thinks is great. And she gave props to the costume designer for bringing the outfit to life.
In SVU her first scene was with Mariska Hargitay with 4 pages of dialogue and at the end of it she walked off and in character shoulder tapped her, that wasn’t in the script or directing, and she walked around the corner and freaked out because she realised she just shoulder checked her boss, and she heard Mariska go… who is that? And she thought oh no I just got myself fired but Mariska loved it.
She had a crush on Peter back in the day… long before Doctor Who. She remembers him like a Scottish David Bowie when she was up and coming as an actress
Her first job out of school was playing David Bowies girlfriend in a movie.
She talked about if wanting to pursue acting be ready for rejection and understand what parts you’ll be able to play. That she found success later in life because she couldn’t really pull off the girl next door but once she got older and grew into her face and could play villains and witches she was able to get more parts, but that can take time and lots of rejection and you need you push through and not let it get you down.
One of Michelle Favourite episodes is when she turned up to set with her 8 year old son and there were daleks everywhere and she put her son in one and stayed in all day he was so excited (she wasn’t sure the episode name but maybe it’s The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar?)
She didn’t adlib much in doctor who because Moffatt was very good at writing in her voice so when doing the scripts nothing ever felt off.
When asked about where is like in NZ she said she had only gotten in the morning before so she’d have to come back to that but she was planning on doing some sight seeing after the con.
Sacha
My favourite Sacha story was saying he had to send in an audition tape to Chibs of his interpretation of the Master and Chibs was like, great but could you take it down a notch, because the Master isn’t on drugs. Could you imagine a more unhinged Master? That could have been epic! 5 episodes was not enough of my little SpyMaster.
Sacha said it’s easy to get caught up in acting and getting jobs but make sure you make time for life because all those lives experiences go into your acting and if you’re so caught up in acting and finding work you’ll miss out on that. Michelle agreed.
Sacha talked about how when he was in Sherlock he was doing a fight scene with Ben and it ended in a pool so there kept having to go to a heat unit between takes and strip down out off the wet clothes and while they were in there talking he told Ben he had audition for the marvel show iron fist and Ben made a phone call and told someone there to make sure they took a look at his tape and he got the job. Then at a convention he saw Ben there so went up and said hi, and they had a quick chat and as he left he say I love you, and Ben said it back but he has no idea why he said it. But obviously they love each other.
Name dropped Ray Holman asking if that was who design Michelle’s costume too, but Michelle just looked at him like ‘I don’t know’ so he didn’t say any more. Lol.
Mentioned that lots of people talk about who came first him or Missy, and this was new information to Michelle’s and she was like ‘really’, and he explained because her arc was a redemption arc some people wanted her incarnation to be the last master.
Sachs’s favourite moment is the O revel, when they did it in rehearsal and the cast and crew got to see how he did it there was such a positive reaction he knew it was something special.
When asked about ad libbing he talked a bit about the fact that the shooting schedule being really hectic so there wasn’t a lot of time.
*The impression I got was that he wasn’t able to do much ad libbing because of the hectic schedule there probably wouldn’t have been time for multiple takes.
When asked about favourite place in NZ Sacha mentioned his trip to Hobbiton but that sadly he was returning home on Tuesday so didn’t have much time to explore.

They both said they would be interested in doing a multi master story together.
They only just met yesterday here in New Zealand when they did a radio interview together
Both were honoured to play the role.

paternity (SVU)
The other day I listened to an interview with Isabel Gillies, and she was talking about filming Paternity. She said she and Mariska watched the crew crash the cars on the first day of filming that whole sequence, and even seeing that was scary and freaked them out (I think she said they both cried?). And then after internalizing that, they got into the car for several more days of filming all the parts that came next.
And part of me is stuck on this:
Sure, on its own, that whole filming experience must have been really profound and troubling and scary. A heavily pregnant woman, mother of 4 other kids already, stuck in a crumpled car, very much imperiled. The awful, sickening way a car crash has the power to completely and irreversibly alter a family. It's hard to inhabit that mindspace for several consecutive days and not have it affect you.
And the star of the show, the hero of the episode who is being tested and who is fighting to save mom and baby and therefore to also save the family, is Mariska Hargitay whose own family was completely and irreversibly altered by the car crash that killed her mother. A car crash she and her brothers experienced. A car crash that caused scars she sees on her face every day, all these years later.
I can't even imagine.
I dunno, it just brings that much more intensity into an episode that's already so powerful and scary and awful, even with the everybody-survives ending.

“Benson.” Olivia rasped our tiredly and you smiled at the sound of her voice. “Hey liv.” You said and you heard her sigh “what’s wrong y/n?” Olivia questioned you and you knew something was wrong, you just didn’t know what. “Nothing. I’m just really hungry and was hoping on your way home you could get me a cheese burger with extra extra pickles?” You asked her and she sighed once again making you frown.
“Maybe I don’t know. I’m really busy right now hon. I’m having a tough case and we really need to catch this guy.” She said while you were trying to understand why she can’t be home right now. “Please come home liv…please I miss you so much.” You said getting choked up and she felt her heart break at the sound of your voice but she had to catch this guy.
“I’m sorry baby. I’ll check in on you later okay?” She said and you whimpered back in response and hung up causing Olivia to run her hands through her hair angrily and sigh loudly. She feels terrible. All you wanted was a cheese burger and your wife. She understood that but she needed this guy to be caught and out of the streets for everyone’s safety, especially yours.
~ a couple hours later ~
Olivia went by McDonald’s on her way home to get you your cheese burger. It was around 11 o’clock when she finally got off of work. Fin came into her office a few moments after the phone call she had with you and filled her in about how they caught the guy and he’s in the station being processed. She couldn’t be more happy and grateful that he was finally Caught. But it dawned on her how she treated you and she felt awful.
So, Before she went home with your bag of food, she decided to go to the store to get you some of your favorite flowers, chocolates, snacks, and candy. She feels awful and she wanted to make it up to you. She headed back to y’all’s house and opened the door with her keys. The jingling sound made you startled and you jumped up and got a knife from the kitchen. You slowly walked to the door and was about to attack when someone grabbed your arm and turned on the light. “Liv?! What the fuck! You scared the shit out of me!” You said breathlessly and handed her the knife. “Well at least you weren’t almost stabbed by your own wife.” She chuckled and you rolled your eyes at her with a small smile on your face.
“I thought you were supposed to call to check in on me? But seeing you is much better.” You mumbled out and she sighed. She took you into her arms carefully, trying not to hit your bump as she held you in her muscular arms. “Well…we caught the bastard and decided to get you “im sorry for being a jerk of a wife” gift.” You looked at her confused until she held up some bags filled with your favorite things and your cheese burger. You immediately snatched the McDonald’s bag from her and started eating it. “Thk y-u..” you mumbled out with your mouth filled with food. Olivia wouldn’t ever let anything happen to you, she will protect you with her life. You finished your meal as she finished her story and you gave her a soft smile. “I wish you would have told me…I honestly thought you were being distant with me…” you confessed to her and she gave you a sad look. “No sweetheart…im so sorry that I made you feel like that…I just really wanted to catch this bastard and I wanted him off the streets as soon as possible.” She explained to you and you leaned up to her and kissed her softly on her lips.
She kissed you back gently and held your face in her hands. The both of you pulled back and gave each other big smiles. “So…what else did you get me to eat.” You smirked and she laughed. “I got you your favorite chocolates, snacks, and candy.” She replied and you gasped excitedly making grabby hands at the bags on the floor near Olivia. She chuckled as she handed you the bags and you stared munching on them while Olivia watched you with a adoring look on her face. “Do you forgive me babygirl?” She asked you and you smiled at her. “Of course I do silly. I couldn’t stay mad at you. You were just doing your job I know that. I was just a little insecure I guess.” You said and she gave your forehead another kiss “I understand baby…but just know that I don’t distance myself from you on purpose. I just get so caught up in my work that sometimes Im distant. But just know that I love you so much darling.” She explained to you and you gave her a loving smile.
“I love you most liv.” “And I love you too little bean-son.” She joked and you giggled at the nickname she kept calling y’all’s unborn child. You felt the baby kick in response and you quickly laid Olivia’s hand on your bump and the baby kicked again which made Olivia break out a huge smile. She leaned down and gave your bump a gentle kiss. Olivia started talking to the baby as you ran your fingers through her short hair and she kept giving your stomach loving kisses.

DWOHT short film idea
If there was ever a DWOHT mv I’d want it to be like a mini movie. A branch off from the Bad Blood mv. Taylor and Karlie sparred against each other as she was training to beat Selena. Imagine using DWOHT as a song to explore running into each other again years later whilst spying it up.
Like imagine a mv where Taylor is on assignment collecting intel that leads her to an underground high roller casino. She is in disguise and has a contact on the inside. She’s scoping out the space trying to find out who runs this operation. While she’s surveying the room Karlie appears from a back room on the arm of the owner of the casino. Karlie is going around the room mingling with guests. Taylor clocks Karlie and her brain flashes back to the bad blood sparring match and other moments from training we didn’t see.
Taylor’s contact at the location walks her over to the bar and tells her Karlie is the wife of the casino owner. They’ve been running this operation together for years. Taylor takes in the information and observes as the camera pans to Karlie at a craps table socializing and throwing the dice. As she throws, the camera slows down and follows along the sight line of her eyes from the dice up to Taylor’s eyes at the bar. And for just a millisecond she freezes before going back to socializing. Taylor turns around to ask her contact another question and when she looks back to the craps table Karlie is gone.
Taylor says to the contact “I need to get into that office. Is there any other way in? The contact says the couple has private parties in the back room that leads to the office but you have to be invited in.”
Taylor spots the owner’s rich drunk friend and starts making conversation and flirting. He tells the owner to let her in so he can get lucky. Once inside the blue and red lit private space, the drunk rich guy starts trying to make a move on Taylor. Just as she starts to rebuff Karlie appears in front of their booth with a couple of drinks. She sits down without being invited and the drunk friend straightens up in her presence. Karlie never breaks eye contact with Taylor. Karlie tells her she has a familiar face that she just cannot place. She starts listing off possible events where they could’ve met.
Taylor’s contact also made it into the private room and created a distraction. Karlie got up to check on things and Taylor used the opportunity to make her way to the back office. She slips in unseen and begins going through drawers and snapping photos of papers. She finds a laptop and plugs in a flash drive to copy all the files.
The scene cuts back to Karlie returning to the booth only to find the drunk rich guy passed out on the table and Taylor no where to be seen. Karlie looks towards the door just as the owner comes to talk to her. Meanwhile Taylor is waiting for the files to copy and keeping an eye on the door.
Karlie and the owner start making their way to the back office. Karlie stops to talk to someone and the owner keeps going. The owner comes in just in time to catch Taylor pulling out the flash drive and in the surprise she drops the flash drive. He charges towards her and is about to call for help when Karlie appears behind him and sticks him with a syringe that knocks him out immediately.
Karlie and Taylor stare at each other in silence for a good few seconds. Then Karlie says “took you long enough.” And Taylor says “well you’re the one that wanted to chat at the booth.” Karlie replies, “well sorry for trying to save you from Gropes Mcgee back there.” Taylor cuts back, “I don’t need you to save me.” “And yet here we are…” as Karlie motions to the passed out owner on the floor. “Fair.”
The next scene is Taylor back at headquarters with Mariska Hargitay as the commander is congratulating her on the successful mission. Taylor asks why no one told her Karlie was so deep undercover. Mariska says “she’s not undercover. She left the organization years ago.” In that moment Taylor checks the flash drive and realizes there’s a paper thin clear tracker on it. Taylor’s memory flashes back to Karlie picking up the flash drive and handing it back to her. Taylor is shocked back to the present when the security breach alarms start blaring. Mariska starts screaming for everyone to get to the safe bunker. Taylor doesn’t follow. Then the entire headquarters explodes.
The scene cuts to Taylor’s hands around a mug in her kitchen with natural light pouring in through the window. She brings the mug up to sip as the camera pulls back to show her full body in frame. Another set of hands appear wrapping around her belly from behind. It is Karlie.
Their escape plan was both of them getting out and leaving everything else behind.

i'm going normalmode re: pedro pascal and watching every one-off episode of law and order and CSI etc that he's ever been in and it has been such a silly and fun experience so far. he's a goth twink who licks his hand and recites a spell at the detective interrogating him. he's a certified EMT who robs weddings with his hot wife and they use the ambulance to make a clean getaway. he's a shitty fed who gave a criminal a free gun and let himself get hit in the head by a crowbar to try to let him get away with said gun and still got caught. he's a poet who writes the worst poetry you've ever heard on a disgusting gas station bathroom wall until an angel comes along and tells him to write it in a notebook and he says "no" and she says "please?" and then he's like "ok." he's a random gay guy named Greg. and these are like, the filler episodes in the shitty later seasons post shark-jump. I'm talking OG CSI circa 2012 when the show was 4 years past it's prime. late-stage SVU where you can see the exhaustion in mariska hargitay's eyes. no one's putting their heart into it but pedro puts his entire pussy into playing the worst guy you can imagine. every night i watch one or two of these and it's like a punishment and a reward.

'The Monkey is OK!': How 'Law & Order: SVU' Tackled Animal Rights
An oral history of the show's legendary episode about animal trafficking.

Since the flagship show debuted in 1990, Dick Wolf's Law & Order franchise has fully saturated the American airwaves. The original Law & Order and the Law & Order: Criminal Intent spinoff ended in 2010 and 2011, respectively, but both appear in cable syndication at all hours. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, now in its 19th year on NBC, focuses on a fictional New York Police Department sex crimes unit. Mariska Hargitay has played the role of Detective (now Lieutenant) Olivia Benson since its debut; for the show's first 12 seasons, she partnered with Christopher Meloni's Detective Elliot Stabler.
Each series in the franchise has its fans, but SVU's cult following is particularly devoted. The show debuted in 1999, just as online television fandom was coming into its own—a year after the debut of the TV recap site that eventually became Television Without Pity and a few months after the debut of the blogging site LiveJournal. A significant contingent of SVU fans bickered about the (fairly tame) on-screen sexual tension between Benson and Stabler and wrote thousands of words of alternative fan fiction stories that imagined the pair in compromising positions of all sorts.
The Law & Order "ripped from the headlines" formula combines true-crime sensationalism with issue-of-the-week social commentary for plots packed with humor, pathos, and a little do-gooder piety. "Wildlife," a 2008 episode about an international animal-trafficking ring, is particularly beloved for its ludicrous twists and turns, a heartwarming climactic scene, and the fodder it provided for Benson/Stabler shippers everywhere. In 2009, "Wildlife" garnered the show a nomination for the Humane Society's Genesis Awards, given annually to media professionals who raise public awareness of animal issues.
Pacific Standard spoke with three Law & Order: SVU alumni—and with the animal talent agency that the series often uses—about the production of the episode. (Hargitay declined an interview through a representative, and Meloni did not respond to an interview request.) Interviews have been edited and condensed.

Mick Betancourt, writer: One of the things that [Executive Producer] Neal [Baer] did was always try to fold a social or ethical issue into each episode, so that was kind of the spine.
Neal Baer, producer: I had done some research that showed that drug trafficking and animal trafficking and human trafficking were three of the most lucrative ways that people made money around the world, and I was shocked because I did not know, really, the extent to which animal trafficking was such a huge and profound problem across the world. People certainly know about elephant ivory, but they may not know about the trafficking of primates, and exotic birds, and all kinds of other animals that people collect. It's really amazing and daunting and I wanted to bring that out.
