Prompt No. 31
Villain let out a long sigh of exhaustion as they reached for the keys of their apartment, mist formed from their breath. As much as they loved being society's no. 1 menace, they wished that their boss was at least lenient enough to allow them rest during the holidays.
But no, they were buried in piles and piles of paperwork. At least they were stationed in the warmth of their office instead of the cold of the outside.
They set aside their bag and scarf as they walked in, was their apartment always this dark? Fumbling in the darkness, they flicked the switch that they finally located, blinded by not only the sudden brightness of the lightbulb, but by the colourful flickering lights adorning the Christmas tree they were sure they didn't have.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS!" A chorus of voices greeted.
Villain uncovered their eyes to see their nemesis and her sidekick, their own sidekick, their boss and his right hand, and that annoying vigilante that always makes their job twice as challenging especially with Hero on their tail.
They blinked, once, twice, thrice. And then another light blinded them, the flash of a camera followed by its soft shutter.
"What--" They breathed out, confusion and shock still evident.
Hero giggled, "That was a nice look!"
"What are you all doing here???"
"To celebrate Christmas with you, silly!" Hero answered.
"Hero was really looking forward to it." Their sidekick added.
"Too excited though... We forgot a few things that our preparations got a little delayed so I asked Supervillain to keep you busy though..." Right Hand side-eyed the master criminal who immediately became defensive.
"I tried, okay? It was the only way I can think of." He huffed.
"Before you get so emotional over me attending just know I was forced into this!" Vigilante protested and pointed towards Hero's sidekick who merely gave Villain a thumbs up wearing the signature cliff-faced expression.
Villain watched the group bantering, a comfortable warmth spreading across their chest. It was the first Christmas their apartment had been so lively.
"Come on! I baked gingerbread cookies!" Hero grabbed their hand and dragged them along towards the others, a small smile on their face.
It really was a merry Christmas.

we all know that heizou’s a playful guy, as well as a huge flirt. compliments and teases roll off his tongue with unmatched ease, never failing to send a wave of heat to your face.
but even he has to have his soft moments.
sometimes, as all people do, you like to talk about your favourite topics; whether it be food, hobbies, niche interests, or something else— and heizou’s always more than eager to listen, regardless of whether the topic holds any significance to him or not.
one day, let’s say he asks you specifically about one such topic, and though it starts off a little slow, soon enough you’re rambling on about it with the excitement of a little child, self-restraint thrown subconsciously to the wind, explaining whatever you’re saying down to the tiniest detail with a wide smile on your face. all the while, heizou’s watching you with the softest, most smitten gaze ever known to man, his cheek propped up on his palm and a small yet enamoured smile tugging at his lips.
you go on for probably a good fifteen minutes or so, before finally noticing the shameless way heizou’s looking at you, and hesitate, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious, because you’ve been a warbling mess for the last quarter hour on a topic heizou probably doesn’t even care about. your smile falters, previous confidence waning.
“…why are you looking at me like that?” you ask. heizou’s half-lidded eyes crinkle slightly as a lovestruck grin spreads across his face.
in the most earnest, gentle voice, he mumbles, “you have the most beautiful smile i’ve ever seen.”

so we all agree that Dazai is somewhat possessive right? And because of that, he doesn’t just call you pet names, he has to add “my” in front of it.
my darling, my love, my belladonna…
He just has to say you’re his, as if to remind himself that he’s got you and you’ve got him.
And, when it’s late at night and he’s kissing your shoulder as his skilled hands glide down your body, you can hear him whisper something, in between the gasps leaving your lips;
“I’m yours”
and he’ll say it over and over again, to remind himself he finally has someone he belongs to.
anyway how was your day?

Frontiers’s story had a big impact on me. Sage’s whole dynamic with Eggman struck a chord with me. Eggman slowly starting to see Sage as less of a creation and more of a daughter, occurring in tandem with Sage discovering and learning how to navigate her new feelings, that hit really close to home for me.
The original ending, before the Final Horizon update, brought me to tears. We’ve seen Eggman’s creations get destroyed so many times, but we’ve never seen what it feels like on Eggman’s side of things, especially when it comes to someone as close to his heart as Sage. Those thirty seconds of silence as he stared at the stars, slowly coming to realize that Sage would never come home, never get to know her brothers, never be a family… I actively felt my heart sink for Eggman.
And if that wasn’t enough, “Dear Father,” a song Sage sings to her father, telling him just how much she loved him, and how much she wished she could come home and be a family, plays right after. My heart broke for them both, that scene hit me like a sack of bricks. I was bawling like a child for a long time, which is very unlike me.
I drew this before Final Horizon came out, so I didn’t know how it would affect Sage’s fate. I just wanted to see them all happy together (though Metal Sonic’s chronic resting bitch face makes him look permanently pissed off lmao). It’s funny how life works, because the added context of Final Horizon finally made this image a reality.
Final Horizon’s ending also made me cry like a baby, to be frank, though for a different reason. Instead of that scene with Robotnik staring at the stars alone in deafening silence, we get to see him have a tender moment with Sage. We get to see Sage smile in delight at the thought of finally being able to go home and be a family. We get to hear them talk to each other, be proud of each other, be relieved that it’s over, and glad that they can be a family together.
And then “I’m With You” plays.
While “Dear Father” was, in essence, Sage’s last words to Eggman, expressing her devotion and regret at not being able to come home safe, “I’m With You” is the exact opposite. Sage is no longer wishing for a family she will never meet. She can rejoice in the fact that she’s finally coming home, she has a family, and she’ll finally be able to meet them.
Sage can finally be a part of a family.
