When he says he has made the decision not to follow up with the statement giver, I imagine it’s out of empathy. She should not have to know she ever wished for that

it's so funny how there's lost john's cave, the episode that most fans argue is the scariest episode, and then immediately after is just... spider that won't die

the tma production team really got together and decided to make the fifteenth episode scarier than every other statement combined.

MAG 15 - Lost Johns' Cave

I know I said that i was going to make a meme every day, but today will be a little different.

When i first listened to TMA back in June of 2021, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I got stuck on Lost Johns' Cave for a good number of months before i ultimately decided to skip it. I never went back to it. Until today.

I have never been affected by an episode the way I have with this one. Usually I can just chill out while listening, but around halfway through, I had to start walking around the room while it blasted on my computer.

Then there is the matter of that recording at the end. "Take her, not me."

Let it be known that this is the only actual Statement that has made me cry. I am truly terrified of this episode.

MAG 15 Lost John's Cave (johns'?)

woo ive made it to ep 15! this one seems to be generally regarded as the scariest statement (at least in s1)

but if im being honnest, i was never that big a fan. of course i liked it, i love the descriptions of feeling like youre in the earth and all that. that might be why i never found it scary, actually. it just sounds enjoyable.

my other issue with it was the constant "she liked caving. if only she had known...." "maybe she would be alive now...." "i used to feel safe in caves. not anymore....." like the most basic foreshadowing. idk it was definitely leading up to smth big and cool (and it really was big and cool!) but it just bothered me both the first time and this time

anywho, spoilers time!

this is obviously the Buried <33 i rly like the Buried (im uncomfortable w small spaces sometimes but i also fucking adore them idk) i think its also the Dark! bc. ofc. shes in the dark. (:

the statement giver in this one seems like on the way to becoming an avatar. either of the Buried or the Dark. i wonder if this wouldve helped her progression or stopped it. im guessing the later.

I was about to announce that tma doesn't scare me anymore, then Lost John's Cave post statement happened! Now I'm sad and terrified! That recording at the end were the most disturbing few seconds of my life!

hmmm favourites are tricky things to pick. i think anglerfish is definitely one of my favourites, simply because i started listening to it at night, under the covers, half convinced it wasn't going to hook me at all and ended up nearly shaking, sightlessly staring at the darkness of my bedroom - that's how much it got me.

apart from that - fatigue, lost john's cave, binary, hive...

oh you're actually the first person i've ever heard of have anglerfish as their fav!! what a special way to experience the very first episode <3 i love when tma produces bone-deep terror as intended

I'M SORT OF SHOCKED YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON TO MENTION LOST JOHN'S CAVE BECAUSE FOR ME IT IS LIKE THE BEST STATEMENT. LIKE IT MIGHT NOT BE MY FAV EPISODE BECAUSE I LOVE A LOT OF THE CHARACTER DRIVEN ONES BUT JUST BASED ON STATEMENT ALONE I GOTTA GIVE IT TO LOST JOHN'S CAVE. FUCKING HORRIFYING. i remember i listened to it for the first time while driving and was absolutely TERRIFIED trying to adjust my volume dial high enough to hear what laura was whispering on that tape.

and yessss lots of crowd favs too with fatigue, binary, and hive. we all love those because they are so so so good.

Fun fact! The first episode my family listened to was Lost Johns' Cave! I forced them to listen to it on the drive home after we went to a cave in Missouri :] Anyway it's only like 9:00 and I'm already really feeling that MAG 74: Fatigue.
