Where how different it would've been for Steve after coming out of the tank thing for the first time not having all of his chronic pains? Reading all of your thoughts about GotG now makes me want to give it another chance. I stopped midway in the first movie cuz of the way Gamora was treated. (+Now I’m curious to more than just Groot and Rocket)

FWIW, I didn’t like the first movie all that much when I first watched it, and only fell in love with it retroactively after watching the second (and it still has a few things I’m not so fond of, the male-gazey filming of Gamora being one of them). I try not to be too evangelical about things I like towards people who didn’t like them -- I mean, everyone’s got valid reasons for not liking things -- but I feel that the second movie is WAY better about how it handles its female characters, and if you gave up on the first one because of that, I think it’s still worth giving the second one a chance.

I want to say how awesome you are! I love All I want, I love the thought you put into the sciency bits behind the anatomy and physiology between the different genders. I especially love how you clarify how heats aren't fuck or die, just more horny! I love all the reference pics you have on here! The floor plan layouts and character references! That pic of Seb in the black t shirt was Bucky's orig reference right? at least Seb posted his pic?

The way I see it (and this will come up in later chapters between the characters as well) I prefer to see the characters written in abo verse as like... a heightened physiology of ourselves.  So that said, they’re still humans with human brains - meaning while they definitely have a sex drive and a weird, innate drive to breed, they’re not animals.  They can, and definitely should, suppress that drive unless the situation’s appropriate and they have a willing and consenting partner.  

In my head, Bucky at the beginning of the story basically has the build that Seb had around the time he was playing TJ Hammond - he’s in pretty good shape but he’s more lean than he is anything else (I hate pap pictures but the ones of him in the black t-shirt were perfect).  In the first trimester he’ll bulk up with some muscle weight (the reasons why will be explained in C7) and then obviously the baby weight will change things a lot, but yeah - that initial Bucky reference post was basically how I see him in the chapters that have been posted to date.

And yeah, Seb posted  pic.  Ruined my life, added yet another aspect to the story that I hadn’t been planned on, and drew out chapter 6 by a solid two pages.  But... I should tone the bitching down because yes, we got blessed by a pic XD

Anyway, thanks again for your rec and for this message, you’re way too kind!  Chapter 6 is about 75% done - I’m hoping to finish the first draft of it tonight, so as long as life cooperates I should be able to edit it and get it posted either late Tuesday or at some point on Wednesday.

Additional Comments: This fic/podfic collaboration was created for @pod-together 2017. It has an awesome premise – starting after Azzano, Bucky sees a ghost that clearly resembles the Sergeant Barnes from before Azzano. The Ghost accompanies Bucky wherever he goes or is taken, and he keeps up a running commentary on Bucky’s every decision and act. He reminds Bucky-the-Soldier of who he once has been; he makes sure Barnes takes showers and eats fresh fruit. The story is told in poignant vignettes from Bucky’s life and recovery, focusing mostly on the events from Washington to Wakanda. In the podfic, the transition from one vignette to the next is marked by the musical motif of the song "Strength of a Thousand Men” by Two Steps from Hell, a powerful piece of music highlighting Bucky’s tragic fate. The Ghost’s voice is wonderful  – at times humorous or full of biting sarcasm, at times caring. I love the fascinating structure of this fic, and @madnads​ does an awesome job with the wide range of emotions and scenarios. It’s another one of of those podfics where you discover ever more nuances the more often you listen to it. Do enjoy!

Could you talk some about your thoughts on Comics!Tony and/or how he's different from MCU Tony?

Look, MCU!Tony is a gift and I will fight people who say otherwise. (And judging from both the notes I got on yesterday’s post AND the number of people who apparently unfollowed me because of it, Tony Stark is as divisive as ever, so good job fandom!)

But comics!Tony is an arrogant grade A dick with an ego the side of the Hulk and no one has ever been able to write him in any way that makes him any less of a total asshole.  (I swear, the only Marvel comics character I dislike more than Tony Stark is Reed Richards, who is even MORE insufferable and MORE of an arrogant prick, and no wonder they’re always in cahoots with each other over something.)

There hasn’t been a single writer who has been able to write Tony in such a way that he’s sympathetic rather than condescending or where I feel for his plight rather than rolling my eyes at his entitled rich white boy whining.  And I’m not just saying this as a Steve Rogers fan, either - even beyond Tony’s clashes with Steve in the comics, Tony as a character is just rage-inducing. He thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, and therefore thinks he’s always right, and he never listens to anyone about anything.

MCU!Tony, however, has all of those insufferable qualities, but he’s got an ace up his sleeve in that he happens to be played by one of the most brilliant actors of his generation in Robert Downey Jr.  And RDJ manages to infuse all of that arrogance and entitled One-Percenter-ness with this aching sort of vulnerability and loneliness and give him some real emotional depth.  I feel MCU!Tony’s pain and his hero journey in a way that no one - not Hickman, not Millar, not Ellis, not Fraction - has been able to match in any of the Avengers-related or Iron Man comics I’ve read over the years.
