Summer of 2016 AU where there's no conflict or angst, just everyone running around Ninjago City playing Pokémon Go.
How does Aftershock happen in this universe?
Cole meets Jesse at a Pokéstop in the middle of Ninjago City Harbour. Turns out hopping in a kayak and paddling out to sea to catch a pair of Luvdisc is the best way to meet your future boyfriend.

Oh, right, I've been a bit scattered lately but I do have another little holiday PSA for the month of February.
If you intend to give your special someone a pokemon as a gift on the 14th, please be sure they are able to handle the responsibility of the pokemon you intend to give them. The most commonly gifted pokemon as a sign of love is Applin, which while fairly small, are dragon types which can be a bit on the difficult side to care for even at their first evolution stage.
Applins also run the risk of "spontaneous evolution" if exposed to certain species of apple (or candy/caramel apples), much like a Sliggoo may spontaneously evolve when exposed to rain.
Please be aware that pokemon are not just gifts or accessories. A single affectionate gesture will turn into a lifetime of care if you intend to give your special someone a pokemon. I have compiled a list of commonly gifted pokemon below the cut as well as some care tips and important things to know if you plan on giving them away.
Flower pokemon such as Cherrim, Floette, Roselia, Comfey, etc:
They require lots of sunlight, plenty of outdoor activity, clean water with some needing specifically natural spring water, and exposure to pollinator pokemon such as Combee. Good soil is also a must for the health of a plant pokemon. They do poorly in environments with bad air quality, so it's often ill advised to keep flower pokemon in industrial cities. Some flower pokemon such as Roselia may be highly venomous as well and even at a small size, their venom has the possibility to be fatal if not treated quickly.
Food pokemon like Alcremie, Fidough, Vanillite, Swirlix, etc:
Food based pokemon often have very specific requirements based on what they appear to be, such as needing a high sugar diet, cold environments to prevent melting, and will impact other foods around them (Fidough causing fermentation just by breathing). You should also not attempt to "eat" parts of them or taste them, an instead wait until the pokemon trusts you enough to offer you something it feels comfortable with you consuming.
Toy pokemon such as Mimikyu, Stuffle, etc:
Even though they look like dolls, they are still living creatures with their own needs. While they may enjoy cuddling with you, they also want their own space sometimes and may lash out if you refuse to put them down or let them have time to themselves. In the case of Mimikyu, it could result in extreme levels of clinginess and jealously towards other pokemon/people who receive your attention. In the case of Stuffle, it may not learn to regulate its affections and become unintentionally dangerous when it evolves into Bewear.
Springtime Deerling:
They start small, but Deerling eventually evolve into Sawsbuck which can grow over 6 feet tall. They also need a very nutrient rich diet to compensate for the flowers growing from their heads/horns. They need plenty of space to roam and do better outdoors than indoors, so they are not advisable for those who do not have large yards or don't live active lifestyles. Deerling may also run the risk of contracting various life-threatening diseases that target cervid pokemon, so routine pokemon center checkups are an absolute must.
Luvdisk:
They must be in groups of 2-4. If a Luvdisk is alone, it will enter a depressive state, refuse to accept food, and barely move until it is given a partner. They also must be given a saltwater tropical tank with warm water. If the temperature drops too low, it could be a serious risk to their health. Despite what you may have seen some hotels do online, do not release Luvdisk into a pool or hot tub. The highly chemical treated water in a pool as well as the bacteria within the water can make Luvdisk incredibly ill and even threaten their lives.
Tandemaus:
While a cute gesture for couples who intend to get more serious, these pokemon have very high breeding rates and produce many offspring in their lifetime. It's not an "if" it's a "when". Even if you take steps to prevent this, Tandemaus will still manage to acquire offspring through means unknown and become a Maushold. Separating them will only result in extreme distress for the individuals in a Maushold. You will need to be ready to provide for a large family of small pokemon several times over as the young members of a Maushold age up, find partners to become Tandemaus, and form Mausholds of their own.
Spritzee:
Many people are unaware that the scent a Spritzee gives off is impacted by its care and diet. A Spritzee not given a healthy diet of food with pleasant fragrances will develop a foul smell or no smell altogether. Their thick fur and feathers also require a lot of upkeep and often hours of careful grooming to keep them healthy. Keep in mind that when this pokemon evolves into Aromatisse, its natural scent is often so overpowering it can become too much for those with sensory issues. Some trainers have even reported losing their sense of smell entirely due to Aromatisse.

For luvdisk day I wanna remind all you homosexuals out there.
Applins are given as a gesture of liking someone. But also they are pokemon and require a lot of work!!! Make sure that you and whoever you wanna give it to are both capable of taking care of an applin.
If for some reason you or your crush can't. Talk to some rangers and daycare workers or even your local pokemon schools. Kids are always in need of a starter!

character update and world building stuff :3
First: who is that? Omen is the name I've given a Genesect specimen recovered from one of the last ██ bastions of Team Plasma (███ ███.) Genetic testing and examinations were performed at ███, ███, and ███ - Notably this a proved female, while optimized Genesects are genderless. Other differences are: a more robust body, square-ish head, curved thorax, non-adjustable canon, and she is gray in coloration.
She has spent time alongside me, in simulated habitat, and a wild reserve now. There's been a whole team of smarter people who have been monitoring her to determine the best fit for her permanent home. Interestingly, she does not seem to have fighting or battling instincts, only attacking if under a trainer's command, which makes sense with Genesect being mechanized.
But anyway, I mention that because it is really unsafe for her to roam on her own, she does much better accompanied by other Pokemon it seems.
One of her strongest fascinations is in the color pink, which she doesn't just prefer in berries, she actually has a tendency to seek out pink-colored Pokemon like Audino and Munna. When in her lab habitat, she was introduced to Luvdisks, Slowpokes, and even an assistant's Blissey. Some of the other Pokemon felt uncomfortable being stared down (especially the Luvdisks,) but the friendlier ones prompted her to play and frolic.
She doesn't match their energy most of the time but will occasionally try to, and has learned to copy them in simple games like rolling, chasing, and swimming.
Currently, her best option seems to be in ███. Her habitat there is a moorland with a variety of peaceful Pokemon she's been learning a lot from. Sometimes she even meets battlers and temperamental Pokemon so eventually she can learn how to communicate or protect herself. It's kind of upsetting to see a liberated Genesect be sent to a lab, so I thought writing out everything would make it more digestible. I'm really hoping she can go out into the wild again eventually. :(

We JUST BARELY missed the 7:00 train so we have half an hour to dick around before the next normal train comes around. Cari ran off without me and promised to meet me in the station by 7:30, so I guess I'll go buy her some chocolate in the spirit of Luvdisk Day while she's doing whatever it is she's doing.
