Ok the Gutsca scene. The reason it parallels so heavily with the scene of Griffith in the lake isn't because it's all about Griffith, it's to illustrate how Griffith failed to grow as a person where Guts and Casca succeed through their mutual love for each other. Griffith in the lake is actively repressing his pain and trauma while putting on a persona and masking his true feelings from Casca and not accepting her help. Not only that but Griffith never fully shows his true self to anyone. 1/?

He shows it to Guts somewhat and Casca see's it in the lake scene but other than that they're always subjected to Griffith's persona and not the real man underneath making their connections to him not completely genuine. Whereas Guts and Casca's relationship is built on them opening up to each and letting themselves be fully vulnerable with each other, giving them both what they've truly wanted for their entire lives. A genuine connection and bond with another person who fully accepts them 2/?

Despite their flaws and traumatic pasts. And they both grow in the wounds chapters because they do let themselves be fully vulnerable, Casca pours out all of her emotions, insecurities and hang ups while Guts opens up about something he's repressed his entire life. There's no personas, no masks. Just a genuine connection or trust, honesty and acceptance between two people who have never truly had that before. With Guts accepting his vulnerability rather than hiding it like Griffith did

I disagree. Casca gets Griffith's persona so to her Guts' vulnerability is an improvement, but Guts gets Griffith's real self, and Griffith revealing his true self to Guts is a hugely significant theme of the Golden Age. Like it's the whole point of Tombstone of Flame, and it's the lynchpin of their entire friendship, from day one when Casca starts internally freaking out about how Griffith is acting so differently around Guts. He's still in denial about some things even to himself, but Guts gets the most genuine version of him Griffith has to offer, and that gets pretty genuine by the end of the war. Here's my detailed take if you care enough to read a long essay lol, here's a less detailed take on the idealization of Griffith and how it affects his relationship with Guts, and another take that discusses Griffith and all of the Hawks as well as Guts.

And here are some of my counterpoints re: your reading of Guts and Casca's relationship:

How Guts and Casca only work in the absence of Griffith

It's possible that Miura intended for Guts and Casca to be a very positive, healing, and emotionally honest relationship and just failed to depict that very well, but tbh I doubt that. I don't want to go searching for links, you can find them in my 'interviews' tag generally anyway, but he has said that he had Guts and Casca get together for the sake of more Eclipse drama, only had Casca survive the Eclipse so Guts wouldn't be able to move on, and has described them as eternally in the stage before falling in love. None of that definitively means that Guts and Casca's relationship was meant to be heavily flawed from the start, but it does indicate that they're not meant to be a healthy happily ever after relationship so it lends weight to the flaws imo.

My take is that they're two friends hooking up with some sweet moments to sell the new relationship feelings, but ultimately doomed to failure even without the Eclipse, in part because they're not emotionally on the same page, and in part because while Casca may have been able to shift her feelings from Griffith to Guts, Guts never had any intention of moving on from Griffith himself - the whole point of his dream journey was to be his bff. Casca was one step on the road to that goal.

Right, so this is shaping into another au of au story. woof. but also, i love tomby and Montana and peter so this is great. the only thing that would be better is if quentin were tossed in. but I'm holding by for my own sake. lol.

Peter ended up passing out not too long after Tombstone started patching Montana up. The businessman moves both into the spare bedroom he has, along with a lot of medical supplies. It would probably distress Peter to wake up with his uncle and that would be counter to what he currently wants. He notes that Peter's tooth has stopped dripping, but puts ice on Peter's face anyways. He gently sets both down and goes to grab food and cancel all his upcoming appointments and clear his schedule. Rain still taps on the window. He takes a moment to stand in the kitchen.

Anger coils through his frame. How long had Montana known Spider-Man was a child? How long had he known it was Peter? Why would Montana allow Peter to keep going out, so reckless and defiant against the odds. Tombstone has to be careful not to crack or break anything with his hands. Did Montana play a role in Peter saying no to his deal or did the child ever mention that to him?

As a subordinate, Montana had always been reliable. Never asking too many questions, unless they were pertinent to getting the job down correctly. The Brice family was well known in the underground and the thought of having one of them in his employ had appealed to Tombstone even early on. And the man had done very good work. But the line in the sand seemed to be around Peter. Montana had not even given the slightest hint that he had any ties to the hero.

How many people knew about this? Surely the other Enforcers. But did it go further? Beck? Mason? Dozens of questions swirl as he drops off food in the room and checks it for escapes.

The windows are more durable than those in his office and not even tossing furniture would break them. The door is heavier and more solidly built than standard. That is true for most things in his apartment to prevent damage when he is weary and his control slips. But he makes sure to remove any potential weapons from the two. Peter is fairly easy with just the devices from his wrists that appear to be built to shoot webs. Montana is a little harder. The man has quite a few hidden weapons beyond the suit. Tombstone stores them elsewhere in his home and locks the spare room from the outside.

Peter wakes up in a place that overwhelms him with the smell of not home. Okay. Not the best explanation. It smells like cold, rain, metal, and faintly of mint around the edges. And not of earth like Montana’s or of May’s faintly sweet perfume. He shivers and cracks open his eyes. He immediately feels the urge to get up in the air. He often felt that way in Montana's home and had a hammock to do so in. But this is a foreign bedroom. He is suddenly hit with memories and panics. Where is Montana?

Right beside him, as it turns out. He sighs in relief and reaches out a hand to touch Montana. The man is breathing steadily. But still injured. Escape is not an option yet. The itch to get up in the air presses harder at him, but he hates the idea of leaving his uncle down here. He would just have to make a big web. Though, a quick glance at his wrists reveals no web-shooters. Hmm. This would be a lot more natural webbing than normal. But he wants to be up. He slips out and crawls up to a corner and starts spinning and securing. He drags up pillows and blankets to weave in and finds it to be a very calming activity. He then hauls Montana up and sighs in relief as the itch to get up high fades. He curls beside Montana, cold. The room is so cold. He tugs on the blankets and presses against his uncle and slips off to sleep, feeling a bit secure. His wrists ache just a little, but he can ignore it.

Tombstone is concerned when he reenters the room to find the bed empty of both of the previous occupants. He can admit to his heartbeat spiking slightly as he looks around the room. But then he spots the large web in the upper corner of a wall. Peter peaks out over the edge of the web-nest and blinks slowly at him. Tombstone sits down on the bed and looks up at the child. He can vaguely see Montana up there too. How best to get Peter to speak? The child seemed rather dedicated to his uncle. Enough to drag him up into a protective web.

“Is Montana alright?”

Peter blinks and shifts a little, fingers pressing against some of the web strands.

“He… He hasn't woken up. But he’s breathing fine and his heart’s good.”

Peter sounds worried.

“Any injuries that I missed? I have more medical supplies here.”

Tombstone wants to keep Peter talking. Peter glances back at Montana and then back at Tombstone with a slightly confused look.

“He’s… No.”

“Montana mentioned something about a machine made by Ock?”

There is a flash of rage in Peter’s eyes.

“Yeah. It was bad.”

The kid takes a breath and then resettles in the web and watches Tombstone. Time for another topic.

“Is there anything I can bring you for your… web?”

Peter hesitates, shivers a little, and asks in a very small voice.

“Blankets? It’s cold.”

Peter sounds unsure of his own request. Tombstone is happy to provide something so easy.

“I can do that. Would you like me to move the bookshelf to be under it?”

Tombstone worries about the structural integrity. Peter looks at him with confusion and a little bit of concern. There are still the edges of fear but far less than when Peter was last awake.

“I… I…”

“Just in case the blankets add too much weight.”

“Oh, okay.”

Peter sounds very unsure, fingers twisting and pressing at the web strands to twist them into each other. They are quick little movements that display nerves that tremor in Peter’s voice. Tombstone nods and quickly sets about moving the mostly empty shelf. He can feel Peter’s eyes watching him closely, so he makes sure not to make any movements towards the web aside from moving the shelf. He does not want the kid to think that he is trying to grab him.

II've decided to watch MacGyver from the beginning (again), and I'm live tweeting the experience with every tweet tagged with #savemacgyver. I thought it would be fun to share my collected thoughts from the episodes on here as well.

My Thoughts on S1E3, "Awl"

You're not only going to make it to 30, Mac, but you're going to make it to season 6. #savemacgyver

I love that Jack's bucket list includes finishing the Harry Potter books. Guess he's not a one-trick pony after all with sci-fi. A healthy blend of science fiction and fantasy is just what the doctor ordered.

Dylan Thomas reference! That poem was written about the poet's own father, and is about how everyone, no matter who they are or what they stand for, fights against death in the end. He's begging his dad to "rage, rage against the dying of the light," to not give in to death so easily, to keep fighting. Just taught this poem, actually, so I'm vibing with this reference super hard. Though to be fair, I'd be vibing with it anyway. Love Dylan Thomas.

Oh my gosh, this is the one with the fire extinguisher and inflatable escape! I'd forgotten which episode that came from, but I see GIFs of it all over Tumblr. Poor Mac especially, that looks like it hurts. Why is Lucas Till so good at being whumped?!

I'll never get tired of seeing that polar bear! Do we know if he has a name?

I cannot get over how small and excited Bozer is, not a care in the world except for his movie. It's exciting to think about what's to come for his character growth, though I do wish he wouldn't have to go through all the things he does. :(

Jack's conversations with his dad at the grave are just everything. And I feel cheated that we haven't gotten to see Mac have the same kind of conversations at Jack's grave (though I firmly believe it's a regular occurrence off-screen).

Seriously, the way he talks to his dad is so familiar, so comfortable, so natural. It's like Daddy Dalton is right there with him and it fills me with so many emotions that I can't even.

The smile on Jack's face and the pride in his voice when he talks about Mac to his dad is the purest thing ever.

Also, that's a big-ass tombstone Jack is leaning against.

"Hi, Mr. Dalton. How's... life?" MAC! 😂

I can't tell you how much I love it when other characters talk about how smart Mac is. "He's a genius..."

First mention of Mac's dad. It's sweet how invested Jack is in Mac rebuilding his relationship with his old man. Also, I really wish we would have gotten a flashback of Jack's dad at some point. He seems like such an amazing man.

"If I could have one more day to sit and talk to my dad instead of that hunk of rock, I'd do anything." Jaaaaaaack 😭😭😭

Good old Ralph Kastrati. Single-handedly the most annoying character in all of cable television. Y'all have no idea what you're getting into with this one, dream team.

PUNCHFACE.

"My mom dated a guy like that once." Ouch. I'm about to start a Riley Zinger Counter for each episode. Her comebacks are 🔥

It's not just his face, Jack. Everything about this dude is punchable. Especially the way he says "yo."

Mac just snatched that can right out of Jack's hand as he was about to take a drink. Classic.

If I didn't hate Ralph before (spoiler: I did), then I extra hate him for the foie gras comment.

Yes, Jack, "asshat" is the perfect descriptor for this guy.

Is Mac seriously about to just make him some noise-canceling headphones? Who am I kidding? Of course he is.

I need more of Mac punching people in the face. For science.

I love how bossy and grabby Mac gets when he improvises.

Another belt grab! I can’t get over Jack trying to keep his crazy partner from falling out of the window – it gives me life!

Actually makes me wonder if he does it because Mac’s taken a tumble out of a car window before. *fanfic brain engaged*

“You know how I feel about your puns.” C’mon, Mac, pus are the greatest forms of humor, bar-pun. (Geddit?)

Mc made a C in biology? I’m not buying it.

Dwwwwwww the sounds of the surgery. No thanks.

Though I will say this is one of the coolest (albeit grossest) things Mac’s ever done on this show.

What the heck is with that elevator door? It took a whole 10 years to close! I wouldn’t trust it. (To be fair, I don’t trust any elevator, but that’s neither here nor there.)

Riley stepping in and taking charge once again. No idea how these two functioned before she came along.

Some seriously cool MacGyverisms in this episode. The whole process of “killing” Ralph and bringing him back with office supplies is so OG MacGyver and it gives me all the warm fuzzies.

Ralph: “You’re not a scientist, you’re not a doctor. So how the hell do you know all this stuff?” Mac: “...I read a lot of books?” I love Mac so much.

“Now go die.” Lolololol

The moment with Ralph wanting to call his mom and grow the hell up is surprisingly genuine and heartbreaking. Character development for a character in only one episode, hello, is that you?

“He’s dead, but he’ll get better.” MacGyver, 2016

Riley’s comeback about Jack’s plan to take out six guys if Mac takes out two is another winner. (Riley: 2, Jack: 0) Still, I love the whole, “Sure it does [count as a plan]. First, I’ll take two. Then, I’ll take the other four.” This is why Mac is the plan guy, not Jack.

“Or I can take them all out.” Mac’s confidence = 🔥

I might need to start a Mac sass counter too. Jack: “You seriously want me to put this on my face?” Mac: “Only if you like breathing.”

Jack’s left fist getting jealous 🤣

They really liked choking Mac in the early episodes, didn’t they? Not that I’m complaining. Actually, why did that stop? That strangled, panicked cry of “JACK?!” is music to my fanfic writing, hurt/comfort obsessed, whump-loving soul.

That cough - it actually hurts me to hear it! They should have given us some more repercussions or aftercare for Mac breathing in that gas!

Ralph fell asleep. Of course.

“You know, it’s weird. I’m glad he’s alive… but I still want to kill him. 🤣 I’m with Jack on this one!

Ralph: “A fresh start. I could use one of those right?” Riley: “Or a whole new personality.” ZZZING!!! Riley: 1 million, the world: -10

Oh he did not just call Riley “little hottie.” I’m back to wanting to kill him, character development be darned. So diminutive, dehumanizing, and objectifying. This guy has more than won the douchebag lottery. Riley can more than stick up for herself, but still. The way he speaks to her here makes me feel all kinds of gross.

He just said “ya heard” unironically. Can we let Jack punch him now, please?

Jack offering to let Ralph keep the cash he lifted if he gets to punch him is great, but even better is Mac and Riley offering to chip in money for The Cause.

Oh, yeah, Bozer was in this episode. I’m excited for when he is utilized more!

Bozer’s monster Mac is nightmare fuel!

“A letter? That you put in the mail? It’s 2016.” Hey, as someone who has an actual, old-school type pen pal, step off, Jack.

Mac: “You just gonna watch?” Jack, offended: “Not anymore.” How is it Jack is like Mac’s dad but they also bicker like 5-year-olds? This relationship is so strange, so wonderful, and the heart of the show in so many ways. I love them.

Mac’s words of wisdom about the nature of life are actually super encouraging and exactly what I needed to hear today.

I’d forgotten how much I love this episode – t’s so fun! Although the Codex storyline in season 4 is probably my favorite plot-wise, coming back to these early episodes is like a breath of fresh air! Excellent, excellent episode with so much to offer!

A Cousin’s Review - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 15 Night One

January 4, 2021-

Hiromu Takahashi vs El Phantasmo - Winner faces Taiji Ishimori for Junior Heavyweight Title on Night 2

Hiromu had a spectacular Best of the Super Juniors run that ended with the arguable match of the year against El Desperado. Then he challenged the winner of the Super J Cup to a match. That winner ended up being El Phantasmi, who is basically the junior heavyweight version of Jay White. That’s even more appropriate considering Phantasmo is also in Bullet Club.

Phantasmo starts off going for straight heat by calling out Jushin Liger so he can put his Super J Cup jacket on him, but Hiromu dropkicks him into the rail then hits him with a big ol senton. Phantasmo flips out of a sunset bomb attempt then kills Hiromu with his own sunset flip powerbomb to the floor. This is my first exposure to El Phantasmo and I gotta say that he’s really creative. He does a cool ropewalk moonsault to the outside and drapes Hiromu across the ropes and gives him a back senton. Hiromu has good comebacks, so Phantasmo plans to cut it off by breaking Hiromu’s fingers. Then he shouts out Bullet Club leadership of the past by attempting Styles Clashes and the One Winged Angel. Hiromu falters a few times, but eventually catches Phantasmo with a snap rana and gets the win.

Hiromu is ELITE right now, like arguably best wrestler in the world. Phantasmo was great and this had great psychology. Great opener.

Dangerous Tekkers (CHAMPS) vs Guerrillas of Destiny - Tag Team Titles

The Guerillas won World Tag League to set this up and they beat the Tekkers during the tournament. This was a good fun brawly match. The GOD controlled most of it and isolated Taichi. When Zack was in, he made it more interesting with his outrageous wrestling and counters. GOD set Zack up top for the super powerbomb, but Sabre locks in a Guillotine. Sabre screams at Taichi that this is the Tokyo Dome and instructs him to do a Tower of Doom. GOD eventually use the same iron….thing to crack Taichi with and they win the titles. Good, fun tag match, Would’ve been better with more Zack.

Kenta (HOLDER) vs Satoshi Kojima - US Title Challenge Briefcase

Jon Moxley being in the states has basically made the Challenge briefcase the interim US title. Kenta helped the Guerillas screw FinJuice out of the World Tag League tournament, so Juice Robinson challenged Kenta for the briefcase, but then he suffered an orbital bone injury. Instead of Juice’s partner, David Finlay, challenging Kenta, the legendary Kojima was named the replacement. Weird, but whatever. No way in hell that Kojima beats Kenta, but it wasn’t worked like that anyway. Kojima looked solid and got in some signature offense like machine gun chops. Kenta never looks like he’s gonna lose, but its a solid intense match. Kojima DDTs Kenta on the apron at one point. He goes for his lariat, but Kenta kicks his arm away and run through his normal offense. Kenta tried to hit Kojima with the briefcase, but Kojima knocked it away with a lariat. That ain’t enough though because Kenta runs through him and ends it with GTS.

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Great O’Khan

I kinda dreaded this match, but it’s not bad. O’Khan doesn’t have the breakout performance that would justify him being in this spot, but he’s also not as awful and boring as he was against Okada. He has a few interesting moments like when Tana goes to skin the cat, but he just chops Tana’s hands. He also grabs a nice kneebar out of nowhere. Tana sells like only he can and makes his great comeback, but ends up in the iron claw. Khan gets frustrated and grabs a chair, but Tana ends up with the chair. He actually considers using it, but he tosses it to the side and drills Khan with a Dragon Suplex then ends it with two High Fly Flows. Tana plugged him right into the Tana formula and Khan didn’t mess it up, so this is just solid.

Kazuchika Okada vs Will Ospreay

I was actually anticipating this match, just because its Wrestle Kingdom and with Ospreay’s heel turn, I figure they would really let loose and go balls to the wall. Color me disappointed. Okada teases just wrestling Will, but eventually starts slugging him. Okada is on fire with a big tope, but Will dropkicks him to the floor and takes over. All through the G1, Will’s matches were hurt because he was still trying to his flippy junior stuff and it didn’t work with his new character. Here, he has basically eliminated all of his babyface offense, but he hasn’t replaced it with anything interesting. Plus this match is 30+ minutes which means we hit a big lull while Will controls.

Things kick up a notch and actually feel like the intense grudge match this should be. After a strikefest, Will gets crazy and suplexes Okada onto a table on the outside. He goes for the Oscutter on the apron, but Okada counters to a Tombstone on the apron, then Okada instantly pulls him in the ring for a rainmaker, but Will kicks out. Will escapes another rainmaker, but ends up in the money clip. He gets to the ropes and after a turnbuckle battle, Will hits a big ol Spanish Fly. Will hits the Oscutter, but it only gets two. Deep into the match, Okada is putting over the intensity of the feud by just slapping and kicking Will. Will ducks another Rainmaker and goes for a Super Oscutter, but gets dropkicked out of the sky. Will escapes the Money Clip again and steals Okada’s moves, hitting the Tombstone, the rainmaker pose, and then the Rainmaker to an astonishing reaction, but Okada kicks out. Ospreay goes to end it with Stormbreaker, but Okada spins out, hits a Michinoku Driver and then the true Rainmaker for the win.

Once they decided to kick it up a notch, this was really fun, but definitely too long and Ospreay still needs to improve as a heel. Good match, but disappointing. Their G1 29 match is still their gold star.

Tetsuya Naito (CHAMP) vs Kota Ibushi - Heavyweight and Intercontinental Title

New Japan has caught a lot of flack for how they’ve handled this three way situation between Naito, Ibushi, and Jay White. I haven’t really known what to think, but as soon as this match started, I realized that it worked because I didn’t know who would win and that instantly increases the drama. I also have never seen a match between these two, but I heard they have a reputation for being a little rough (LOL).

They start with just some solid wrestling until Ibushi ranas Naito to the outside. Ibushi wants the Golden Triangle moonsault, but Naito is able to leap onto the apron, avoid Ibushi’s kicks and give him a German suplex on the floor. Let the violence commence people. Naito goes right after Ibushi’s previously injured neck with neckbreakers on the floor and all types of savagery. Ibushi ends up on the apron and catches Naito charging with an insane snap rana that sends Naito flying off the apron. Thats a suuuuuuuper early candidate for spot of the year.

Now, the momentum has swung to Ibushi’s favor and he tries a German suplex from the apron to the inside, but Naito escapes by targeting the neck and delivers a crazy super poisonrana. Naito drills Ibushi with a hard Destino, but it only gets two. His next Destino attempt is countered to a Bastard Driver. We get an awesome strikefest and Ibushi powers up into the Golden Powerbomb. I love how furiously Naito tried to punch his way out of that, but he still got drilled. Ibushi immediately transitions from the powerbomb to Kamigoye, but Naito kicks out. Naito avoids the Phoenix splash and gets another Destino, but only for two. Ibushi flips out of a suplex lands a hard kick and another Kamigoye, but Naito kicks out AGAIN!! Naito lands Valentia, but Ibushi spins out of another Destino attempt, lands a brutal V Trigger and immediately hits one final Kamigoye to end it and KOTA IBUSHI IS YOUR MOTHAFUCKING DOUBLE CHAMPION BAYBAY!!

Match was awesomely built, brutal with a crazy hot ending. Better than both of the Wrestle Kingdom main events from last year. Awesome main event and MY BOY IBUSHI DID IT BAY BAY!!

OVERALL: My favorite kinda show, all killer no filler. Ok I’m overstating it, because it ain’t all killer, but nothing here was bad, it starts with a banger and ends with an even bangier banger. Okada/Ospreay disappointed me, but it was still good overall. Damn good show.

WWF Survivor Series 1996 PPV Review

It’s that time of year! Get out your Thanksgiving leftovers, cause it’s time for the second longest and most boring special match type of the year (in my opinion, don’t hate me). The big match on this card for me is Stone Cold Steve Austin versus Bret “The Hitman” Hart, a prequel to their legendary double turn match at WrestleMania 13. Let’s get watching and let’s get reviewing!

Survivor Series Elimination Match Henry Godwinn & Phineas Godwinn “The Godwinns” w/ Hillbilly Jim, Doug Furnas, and Phillip LaFon def. Leif Cassidy & Marty Jannetty “The New Rockers”, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog w/ Clarence Mason in (20:41)

The level of talent in this match is so wildly inconsistent it’s hilarious

“Phineas is gonna attempt a suplex! How stupid is that!” Good point JR

Henry Godwinn eliminates Jannetty with the “Slop Drop”, Owen Hart eliminates Henry with a spinning back kick, Bulldog then eliminates Phineas Godwinn. Good that we got the Godwinns out jesus christ

Furnas hits a vicious powerslam on Cassidy

Owen Hart with a very high dropkick

The heels are working over Doug Furnas in the corner

Bulldog hits the delayed vertical suplex on Furnas and then flips just to showboat

Vicious gutbuster onto Furnas, JR calls it a “Suzanne Somers” gutbuster lol

LaFon eliminates Cassidy

Owen Hart’s belly to belly suplexes are a thing of beauty

LaFon pins Bulldog, who retaliates with an illegal chop block

Hart comes in to work on LaFon’s legs by smashing them against the ringpost

Hart applies the sharpshooter but Furnas breaks it up

Hart catches the leg of LaFon and LAFON HITS A STEP UP REVERSE ENZIGURI

Furnas gets the hot tag, suplexes Hart and picks up the win for the faces!

Catches the mandible claw and stands up into some chops!

Survivor Series Elimination Match “The Stalker” Barry Wyndham, “The Wildman” Marc Mero w/ Sable, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, & Rocky Maivia def. Goldust, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Crush, & Hunter Hurst Helmsley in (23:44)

This match is a real “shape of things to come” match, wow. The Rock’s first PPV match and HHH coming into the match with the Intercontinental Belt.

Lots of in and out heel work

The Rock fights King for a while and holy shit, Rock has already got the facial expressions and the super selling down pat

Trips and Rocky lock up

Suplex by HHH into an elbow drop by Goldust

Crush hits a backbreaker on The Rock

Sunny, on commentary, accuses Vince of wearing a toupee

Vince sweeps it under the rug verrrrry quickly 🤔

Heels work over Rocky for a while, hot tag to Roberts who cleans house

Lawler is eliminated by Roberts

Mero hits HHH with a standing headscissors, a back body drop, then after a quick break the Merosault takes out Trips

Mero and Jake The Snake are quickly eliminated, Mero sort of off screen

Rocky is alone, facing Crush & Goldust. The crowd already loves him

Crossbody onto both Crush and Goldust

Rocky pins Crush! Rock against Goldust!

BRUTAL SHOULDER BREAKE TO GOLDUST FOR THE WIN AND THE CROWD ERUPTS

Holy fucking shit. The prequel to Austin v. Hart at WM13. I’m so excited to watch this, and even more excited to see Austin v. Hart II.

The Hitman versus The Rattlesnake. Let’s fucking go.

There’s this look on Austin’s face as he sizes up Bret, before the jabbering and the bantering. Begrudging respect gives way to anger and a burning desire to win.

Austin working over Hart’s arm in the middle of the ring, but his knowledge of holds and human body geometry allows him to escape and put Austin into a disadvantageous position

Hart driving knees into Austin’s back

Amazing drop toe hold by Austin as Hart bounces off the ropes, but then Hart turns it into an amazing hold on Stone Cold

Austin throws Bret into the ropes, and then works him over with falling elbows and stomps

Stone Cold is continually targeting Hart’s neck and lungs

Hart and Austin trading intense blows

Reversal irish whip into a clothesline into an inverted atomic drop by Hart

Hart thrown to the outside

Hart drives Austin through the barricade and they’re brawling in the crowd

Austin is planted face first into the steel guard rail

Stone Cold rolls all the way out of the ring when he gets put back in lol

Austin catapults Hart into the Spanish desk and they get into a messy brawl on that table

JR sagely observes: “It seems like it always happens to the Spanish guys!”

Austin drops an elbow onto Hart from the apron

Vertical suplex on Hart by Austin OVER THE ROPES, DAMN

A slugfest in the middle of the ring as Hart gives it his all, holy shit

Backbreaker on Austin

Hart goes up to the top rope, and Austin goes up to the top too AND HITS A TOP ROPE SUPLEX HOLY SHIT

Bret attempts to get a sneaky pin but fails

Stone Cold Stunner buys him a two count but no more!

Austin pummeling away at Hart but hart will not give in!!!

Submission applied by Austin, but Hart manages to crawl to the ropes for a break

Bret Hart is IRISH WHIPPED INTO THE FUCKING RING POST, SLIDING INTO IT ON HIS SIDE OUCH

But Hart kicks out, again. Incredible.

HART TURNS THE BOW AND ARROW SUBMISSION INTO A SHARPSHOOTER--NO, HE PUMMELS AWAY AT AUSTIN’S FACE INSTEAD!

Just a mindblowing finish as Hart, in the middle of a sleeper hold from Austin, kicks off the second turnbuckle and backflips both himself and Austin into a pin. The Hitman wins. What a match, an absolute classic.

Survivor Series Elimination Match Farooq, Razor Ramon II, Diesel II & Vader (DDQ) Yokozuna, Savio Vega, Flash Funk, & Jimmy Snuka in (09:48)

Hell yes, Cornette is on commentary. Even if this match sucks I’m going to enjoy it.

JR takes a shot at Hulk Hogan -- “I’ve never seen red and yellow look so good in the Garden” (re: Flash’s outfit)

“You couldn’t manage a Wendy’s!” shouts Cornette at JR. “I could if you lived in town,” retorts JR 😂

Diesel II hits a brutal clothesline on Flash Funk

Diesel II eliminates Savio Vega

Snuka eliminates Razor Ramon II and then a bunch of chairs are brought into the ring and an all out brawl breaks out, leading to...a double DQ. Ok, um...what?

WWF Heavyweight Title Match Sycho Sid pins Shawn Michaels [c] w/ Jose Lothario in (20:02)

I’m not really sure if I find Michaels hot or I just am really buying into the character and the screams of the audience.

Bret Hart gets the winner of this match for a title shpt, which, knowing about the Michaels/Hart timeline, implies that Sid’s going to win this. but we’ll see

things we know about Michaels coming into this match

he thinks he’s cute

he knows he’s sexy

he’s got the looks that drive the girls wild

he’s got the moves that really move ‘em

he sends chills up and down their spines

big punch from Sid to Michaels in the corner

awesome baseball slide between Sid’s legs into a dropkick from Michaels

chop block by Michaels on Sid and, surprisingly to me, he gets booed!

Michaels uses the ropes to get up high and drop down on Sid’s leg

Michaels in the corner, Sid “sprints” at him and comes in so goddamn slowly it’s hilarious

throughout the match Michaels is working on Sid’s left leg and knee, and continues to get heat from the crowd for doing so

Michaels clotheslined over the top

RIDICULOUS rotation on a back body drop by Sid

backbreaker by Sid gets a two count

huge punch to HBK who is out on his feet in the middle of the ring (in kayfabe)

BUT MICHAELS FIGHTS BACK!

MICHAELS JUMPS UP INTO THE AIR FOR A DOUBLE AXE HANDLE BUT SID PUTS UP HIS FOOT AND MICHAELS BOUNCES OFF, GOING VERTICAL STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR WHILE ON HIS HEAD FOR A BIT LMAO

Michaels kicks out back to back times

Sid catches the Sweet Chin Music and reverses it into a one armed chokeslam

Sid sets up the powerbomb, but Michaels reverses it into a small package pin attempt

Michaels kips up but gets immediately clotheslined by Sid

Sid grabs the camera and hits Jose with it, and the ref CLEARLY SEES IT AND DOES NOT DQ HIM IMMEDIATELY WHAT THE FUCK

Michaels goes out to attend to Lothario, but Sid throws him back into the ring

Michaels bumps the ref, which means...here we go

Sid smashes the camera onto his back

Sid hits the powerbomb. 1-2-3. Even with a slow count from Hebner, Sid gets it. I have to say, I don’t usually like Sycho Sid, but this was a decent match.

Overall PPV Rating: B

A decent show with only one bad match. I do have to say there’s one too many Survivor Series matches on this show, and it ended in a DQ anyways--so what was the point? Sycho Sid vs. Shawn Michaels was decent and a believable way for Shawn to drop the belt, and Hart vs. Austin was a fucking KAH-LASSIC that gets me even more hyped for their incoming WM13 showdown.

oh interesting topic, here’s my view on it; religion is a good idea, but we’re using it wrong. it is about spreading love and finding answers to the greater questions in life, to respect one and each other and finding a place and purpose in our world, which is beautiful right? unfortunately are many people and fucking leaders using it for their own profit, to spread hate or fear, which is completely wrong and not at all what it is about. worth mentioning that in sweden, particularly in the bigger cities, isn’t religion a big thing. no one i know is devoted religious? neither am i, but i still choose to believe in the good parts of christianity, about love and acceptance
