Squidbob x the mailman... the plot thickens?
So, I realize this may be a reach but going to do it anyways because I'm a 🤡
Anyway, I came across @lostwiginity's post recently and... wow. Mailman Norton has it BAD for Squiddy. I mean so does the lil yellow guy at the end of the post but I digress.
Sometime after seeing this, I also came across @just-fandoms-blog's post about the anti-Spongebob club and whoMST do I see sitting there? Oh, it's none other than NORTON THE MAILMAN.
Why is this relevant? The other two members - Bubble Bass and Mrs. Puff - have pretty distinct reasons for wanting to avoid Spongebob. But, unless I'm missing something... what reason would this seemingly random mailman have?
Unless, based on the first post , Norton sees Spongebob as a... romantic rival?

You've got a point! Margaret is also kinda distant. It almost feels like she talks down at him sometimes like a small child like in A Squarepants Family Vacation. And like you said, it doesn't seem like she's really listening. I liked her in older episodes but maybe there's a point to that? Like they're more perceived to be a picture perfect family vs the later ones where theres a weird tension between all of them. Also they're both dressed kinda vintage. Especially Margaret with her early 1960s look.
Like the birthday episode where Margaret remarks that Spongebob has a lot of interesting friends. She barely knows her own child. It sounded almost out of disgust.
I forgot about Under The Small Top where spongebob didn't care for a letter from his family. I get the gag is that he was too excited for his flea circus to come in the mail but maybe there is something going on between them 👀 👀
#Also that episode where mrs puff gave spongebob his drivers license and harold wanted to thank Mrs. Puff and kissed her hand for too long#Flirting??? I hope they fix the lighting, cos everything looks a bit sickly. My other hope is that they're trying really hard right now, that's why everything sounds so scripted, and then later they relax again and act more casual.
