Helluva Boss was a series I was really interested in cos it seemedlike it’s an adult cartoon that’s actually funny and not relying on shock value or unfunny boomer jokes but the fact the show goes from goofball raunchy comedy to a serious drama with depictions of depression/spousal abuse/having characters like Blitz being deeply traumatised and have trust issues/a teenage child like Octavia dealing with her parents divorce, Loona coming from an orphanage who treated her like shit only to treat her own father figure like shit and the two need to talk about that more, the main endgame couple the show wants you to root for going through a rough patch as they release how imbalanced and toxic their relationship really is. AND THEN THE SHOW GOES RIGHT BACK INTO GOOFY ANTICS LIKE NOTHINGS HAPPENED really pisses me off

It’s like Spindlehorse is playing musical chairs with its tone. WHAT TONE ARE YOU GOING FOR IN YOUR SHOW, VIVZIE. YOU CANT BE BOTH UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT ISSUES YOU ARE TACKLING.
