Oh yeah! Since I have no clue if/when I'm ever finishing these and I've had them laying around for forever by now- here's the adult IT metaverse outfits I've made! They're all based on their ultimate personas and the concept of heros! Since these were made for an aged up p4 cast, these aren't quite what I'd put their during p4 time selves in- some changing more then others- but if you wanna follow me into design details, that'll all be under the cut!

First off to get em out of the way- Teddie is very largely the same as his p4 time metaverse outfit I made for him back here . The design is still meant to be inspired by magical girls, but the biggest change is that while the old one was meant to look like a magical girl protagonists outfit, this one I tried to lean a bit more into the older/more experienced cast member of the magical girl group type design. Overall a pretty minor change (and I will admit, largely because I'm still incredibly happy with that old design) but it felt fitting!

Chie and Yukiko were, as always when I work on them, designed to match. Their masks specifically mirror eachother with the opposites sides sticking out, and they both have a golden dragon pattern on their clothes as a reference to the twin dragons move! Chie was... honestly one where I had to sacrifice my goals a bit. Like mentioned before, these were meant specifically for an aged up cast. And while p4 era Chie I would absolutely imagine in a kung fu Chung-Li type outfit, we know what a more mature version of her action hero dreams look like; the police! And I.... really did not want to put her in a cop outfit, Ill be real. Instead I just tried focusing on making the outfit look more mature. Also tried to combine a practical and strong look with a more feminine aesthetic, since she struggles pretty badly with her femininity in p4 and I like to think she'd grow more comfortable with her own brand of it over time!

Yukiko is perhaps one of the most drastic one for changes compared to her younger self- if you asked me to design a p4 era outfit for her, it would look nothing like this, hah. Anyways, she's definitely inspired by onna-musha! Compared to Tomoe who was a full on commander of an army going out there, for Yukiko the idea was more the women taking up arms to protect their home when the battle comes their way. Fully having embraced the role she has as the next owner of the Amagi Inn and the responsibility and want to protect it, it's meant to be somewhat of an outing of that!

Fun fact: She has two color schemes! Because uhh I did not know what to go for at all. Her ultimate persona is like a single solid color and I kind of panicked and just ended up winging the colorscheme. One is more red since, y'know, thats her color! The other is more white gold to match her actual persona better. Included at the end of this post for the curious

Rise was based on a greek goddess- though not any particular one, moreso how they're commonly depicteed in art and old statues. Pretty, holy, someone you'd go to for advice and help (someone just out of reach from the general public) It just felt like a good combination of something she'd like to be seen as and percieved as as well. She gets two outfits- for scan and fight mode! Kouzeon has no canon fight mode, thats just for Himiko, but man it exists in my heart. The transistion between the two is literally just her throwing off the long overskirt, hah.

How does her mask work? Excellent question. The p5 idea of having it there when vibing but gone when the persona is out feels a little awkward when her persona's whole thing is putting a visor over her face. Quite frankly I have no idea. Sorry folks. Have all concept sketches for the outfits I've done as compensation with a bonus Noot in there that I never continued on and finished.

Speaking of the Senshi/Shitennou pairs. I was kind of curious why those stones in particular, right. Kunzite and zoisite are so unusual that I think only gemstone aficionados know them, and even though jadeite and nephrite are somewhat more commonly known names IIRC it still made people mess up the mineral names back in the day.

Well, uh, so, it was alleged that Takeuchi-sensei chose them to match the character and personalities of the senshi they're partnered with, so... Excuse me while I go overthink this and have a meltdown in suffering.

In the first place, supposedly the "inner senshi" are officially meant to be called "guardians"/"guardian deities" (守護 or 守護神). Haven't seen the raws, so I can't confirm, but that's what the JP media says. The term "Shitennou", as many are already aware of, are originally a term used to refer to a set of 4 Buddhist guardian deities.

If true then it just feels like they're all intended to be perfectly matching sets from the start, and it just never made it into the story.

I read that Sailor Moon was originally meant to just end with the Dark Kingdom plot, so maybe sensei intended to have a Romeo and Juliet sad ending where everyone just dies in the end?

These are all based on Japanese gemology guides (same as what I used to research for the Shitennou knight titles), since I imagine it's more likely to be the one Takeuchi-sensei had access to. These may differ from international ones.

In the manga sensei specified that the zoisite is the blue one, that's also known as "tanzanite". The blue variety of zoisite, among other things, means "calm and intelligence".

The connection to Ami/Mercury's character is very straightforward and obvious.

In terms of romance, a zoisite also means "subdued expressions of love". It really makes me think of how gentle this pair looks in the splash art sensei drew.

Kunzite means "premonition of a lover". It's specifically oh dang when I saw this because Minako was "special" among the senshi in the way that her character vibes are based on "love" (because Venus, goddess of love), rather than the original elemental name attached to the planet. It fits enough to make you pause and wonder if this it truly a coincidence.

The planet venus originally has the element of "gold/metal". The gold is reflected in her design somewhat, but her senshi identity is more related to "love". The other girls' names matches their planets' element names. E.g Jupiter = mokusei = wood, Ki(no) = wood/tree. Mercury = suisei = water, Mizu(no) = water.

Also Venus's relationship with Kunzite ended up being the one who got the most hints actually shown in the manga, so... I do wonder.

The two jades are less overly specific like this, especially Nephrite, but well.

Jadeite is the native jade from Japan, and has been long used to make magatama since ancient times. As such it's always seen as a deeply spiritual stone, that can protect against and/or ward off evil. A perfect match for Rei, who is a miko. One wonders if sensei chose the stone because of Rei being a miko, or if she made Rei a miko after choosing this name for the one matched with her.

Edit: Japanese Wiki claims Rei being a miko was based on Takeuchi-sensei's personal experience as a part time miko. So then Jadeite had to have been named/chosen to fit her, if this theory is true.

Not to mention that Akuryou Taisan, the evil-banishing spell, is something that she uses quite often.

Nephrite is the most confusing one here, because I'm not really able to find the connection. That's why I initially had strong doubts about the rumour/claim about the gemstone names' connection to the senshi.

In the gemology guide that I referenced, its meaning is "charm of maturity". I suppose Mako has always felt like she's older than the other girls, because her hobbies (cooking and home decor) feels really motherly.

Other than that and the stone being a deep green colour similar to Jupiter's senshi outfit I'm not entirely sure. (in the manga, sensei says nephrites are "always deep green" even though IRL that's not the case)

Just my additional comments after reading everything that I did:

In terms of colour, I like to think Jadeite is a red jade. Not just to match Rei, but in the manga Jadeite's stone is always coloured the darkest (it's almost all-black). Of all the various jades, red is one of the darker-toned ones.

The shading can be arbitrary, especially if sensei was just tracing from reference photos. Dark green jadeite also exist, so for all I know this is intended to be green too.

But if I use the logic that the stones are matched with the girls' character, I think red just fits the best. In gemstone language the red jade means "tenacity" and "willpower". Green jades tends to be associated with things like harmony, prosperity, luck, and so on. It doesn't feel very Rei-like.

Also, the nephrite jade being a "soft jade", it's associated with very cuddly meanings such as "warm" or "gentle", which makes me laugh even more than the "wisdom" one.

Unless, again, these words are more attached to the matching girls' character, rather than the guy in question, because yes I think Mako is definitely very warm and gentle and fluffy and very huggable.

Although other-coloured zoisite varieties were said to have different meaning, it looks like blue is the predominant zoisite colour in Japan. A lot of Japanese gem sites tend to automatically just say "it's blue" while describing zoisite, even though there's obviously other colours out there.

Sensei did specify it's "blue zoisite, a.k.a tanzanite" in the manga, so I think she's aware of the other colours having different meanings attached. Some articles also had mentioned Takeuchi-sensei's family runs a jewellery store?

I wonder if this is why Crystal went with the gemstone's healing properties for Zoi's title though, because the gemstone words overlaps too much with Mercury in a very in-the-face way. The other meanings are Hope, Mystery, Pride, and Noble, and maybe those don't make very good title names? Like, the only viable one is probably Hope, though I feel like it would be even more confusing if Crystal said Zoi is the "Knight of Hope" or whatever.

Another thing about Kunzite is that its meaning also include "pure and everlasting love", but the website caveated this that this is a saintly kind of love (for the gem's association with Holy Mother Mary). So it's not necessarily something to get overly excited about in terms of SenShi headcanoning, but, well, it's there.

"Shitennou" in Japanese pop culture is generally used to just mean "4 very important people", so it didn't have to actually mean anything. Like, a few samurai in history had their "shitennou", who are just the best 4 generals serving under them. Most famous being the Tokugawa shitennou, but other samurai lords actually have their own so-called shitennou. It's just that if the senshi are officially named "Guardians", then this changes the context.

for archival reasons, and because rise has officially ended, i'm coping by looking back at the past two years and thinking about the master utsushi rabbit hole. this is based on a long reply i sent to a mutual but i think it deserved to have its own post where others can read it and i can expand further on certain details. or something. i don't know. i have no idea who will read this but if you do, please enjoy...

the ballad of master utsushi.

he was there regardless.

always watching.

i wound up getting attached to utsushi-kyokan (master/instructor utsushi), ウツハン/utsuhan (utsushi x hunter) ship, and finding his Japanese fan community late 2021, and i've been chatting with mutuals and friends i made there since. at that time, capcom had opened up pre-orders for his nui (plushie). this plush is lovingly referred to as "Unui-kun", and people love to take him around and bring him places. here's my Unui-kun in new york city lol

fans love to dress him up and make clothing and accessories for him. had i known just how attached i would become, i would not have set my Unui-kun to ship via surface mail delivery because it took about 2-3 months extra for him to arrive... ;;

but anyway, it seemed that his popularity was growing because they continued to make more merch of him. he seems to have more than any of the other characters.

many of these are limited print/pre-order only, or were from specific events like the capcom cafe features. trying to get his merchandise became crazy, because scalpers started to pick up on how badly people wanted goodies of him?!

just how popular is this guy?! what's with the character tax!!

and how did this even happen... we're playing monster hunter, not an idol game! but i think it really speaks a lot for itself how rise had such colorful characters that you could get attached to. it seems he really jives with many female and queer players, so good on capcom for that hehe. many of the japanese fans i've met are either older women, very often mothers, or gnc, which i found to be really cool. the english-speaking utsushi fans are usually the same, too. the solidarity is real...

I found out that a lot of ppl, including myself, shared a similar experience: they missed out on a majority of utsushi's flavor text in base rise bc they didn't talk to him or the other NPCs very much during village and high rank quests, and therefore didn't even think much of him until after the fact. people double-taking when going through the game again and actually catching on to his antics... I think what really got things going was when they released his DLC voice and learned about his, uh, extremely affectionate lines towards the hunter when it comes to mew mew and blowing a kiss LOL. (the "welcome back, master!" line?!?! there's so much art of him in a maid outfit... and the way he says ace/manadeshi in his sleep at the table?!?! scandalous?!?!) even for me, he got my attention only once i saw the official art of him (realizing "hey he's got a cute design actually") and eventually encountering utsushi x hunter fanart on pixiv. another thing that got me noticing him was brian david gilbert's now deleted tweet about how zac efron and utsushi are the same. thankfully, we have the internet archive to save the existence of this post and i have to make sure people experience this lost media.

once i realized how weirdly close he was to the hunter, the gears started turning

i confirmed that ppl really did notice that it was unusual for an instructor character to refer to his pupil as "manadeshi (beloved/dearest disciple)" in the manner that he does, being so close to them in a way that felt so familiar and warm. he was already popular enough that by valentine's day 2022, fans literally sent real chocolates to capcom addressed to utsushi. i knew about this for a while, but i was shook that they wound up officially addressing that this really happened during the last update video.

after they received his chocolates, they immediately got one of the (female) illustrators on board to quickly draw that really cute valentine's day art of utsushi. the japanese tweet for that artwork had even a little bit more text than the english one…

that "i'll always be watching over you" line…

(and while i'm here, i have to mention the valentine's day art we got for 2023- i made a separate post about THAT.)

we started to suspect capcom caught on to this niche community's love for utsushi, and they started to kind of... troll us??? LOL.

throughout the previews of sunbreak last year, they would start obsessively sneaking utsushi into those chibi artworks. and when npc followers were announced, people were scrambling to find out if he was going to be one of them, but there also was some weird radio silence about him for a bit...

in one of the earlier trailers that showed the elgado hub for the first time, there was a very short part of the clip where ppl could see someone standing in the distance at the corner of the screen. all the utsushi fans went nuts because they were taking a magnifying glass and zooming up at there wondering if it was really him, because everyone wanted him to be there in sunbreak LOL.

of course we'd eventually find out that would be his perch for most of the game! it was only during the final preview trailer before the release of sunbreak did they finally announce utsushi as a follower, as if they were saving the best for last. and sunbreak dropped, we got to see him in elgado and enjoy hunting with him. and it didn't end there. he wound up being featured in two of the short stories released last summer, and we would not forget this incident.

when i think about how easy it is to just play through the story and miss out on following specific out-of-the-way flavor texts, let alone know about all this outside of the game, i wonder if utsushi joining the hunter in the battle against amatsu in the penultimate battle was strange, because he has such a spotlight on him, even being the one who allows you to ride an apex which was normally impossible. if people didn't acknowledge him before, certainly people would love him now.

his final line after you defeat amatsu: it's cute and silly in english... but in japanese, his line and delivery was extremely, almost unabashedly... romantic. many people were shocked because it sounded like a fervent confession.

"I'll say it once more... You are my pride, my beloved disciple."

finally, during the last update video…

we got this line straight from the director LOL. utsushi wound up being his personal favorite character in rise, and perhaps why we wound up seeing more and more of him in sunbreak.

all in all, if you kept up with the flavor text of rise, and if you followed utsushi's dialogue throughout the base game and expansion, the emotional pay off at the end was even better! and it is a shame when this stuff is mostly optional or you have to go out of the way for it, with so much being missable with every bit of progression. but making a monhun where story and character interactions are pushed more… i think they were on to something. it's probably something that could be divisive, but personally I think they should go all in on it more in the future. Rise proved that they could make charming and memorable (not to mention, named) characters... if they lean into it more in a future entry, then i hope they do it in a way where everyone can enjoy it and not feel like they missed out. but I also hope they would make it so that people don't feel overwhelmed with flavor text... it comes down to taste, but i think i have faith that monhun can try making more character-driven stories while still keeping the core of the series in tact.

here are some more miscellaneous utsushi things that i didn't know how to fit in earlier:

he's been featured multiple times in capcom cafe entrees. here's his matcha latte dango drink:

and for the sunbreak stories: a cake based on his fight with rathalos together with the royal guard, and then a drink that represents his... uh, struggle across the ocean to chase the hunter to elgado. because they will never let him live that down. i won't either.

here's a t-shirt of utsushi and kagami you can pick up on amazon right now. kagami was a very interesting arc when he was first shown- he was introduced as a long time friend of utsushi, training together in the past, but eventually parting ways.

his seiyuu in japanese is a sentai actor who loves monster hunter, so essentially, kagami is lowkey like a self-insert for him lol. he's goofy in english because he's voiced by a certain youtuber, but in japanese he takes a different direction of silly because he has a "chuunibyou" edgelord cringe way of talking. it's such a shame that kagami wasn't really in the game itself besides being mentioned in a few mission descriptions because i would've loved to see him interact with utsushi and the hunter, and i wish the royal knights and many of the NPCs had more cutscenes or something. it makes me think, if it weren't for the pandemic, could rise's story and scenario have been something more because of the DLC voice characters like hibasa/monju/kagami? anyway, a popular headcanon is that utsushi and kagami are ex-boyfriends lol (i personally like this one and adapted it for my utsuhan fanfics). but there are even those who ship kagautsu too (although it is rare because people overseas are a little wary of shipping characters who are based on real people).

and lastly, one of my personal favorites... the diseased kyokan shirt. this is from an online capcom shop, and you can use a proxy service like fromjapan.com to order it.

Magellany (Redo) (Nebulite)

Move out of the way, here comes the greatest adventurer in the whole damn galaxy: Magellany!

"Just call me Mag!"

She is brave, strong and... acts before thinking. She gets irritated easily, especially when people get in her way, calling them get-in-the-ways. Magellany is very rude and honest, never holding back on any comments.

She is a Nebulite, a peculiar species of sentient nebulae. Her body composition makes it possible to morph into any form as she wishes. She is not confined to a humanoid body. Her preferred weapon is her trusty Scimistar.

This magical sword is a projection of her soul which is located on her chest, in the shape of a crystal. Her power comes from this object and is also her weak point.

Nebulites have incredible capabilities for Cosmic Magic. While not on the same level as someone like Mr. Sky, they are capable of creating spontaneous life. They do so to help with tasks or do jobs that might be dangerous for them. These rudimentary organisms can last as long as the user needs them to. Their intelligence is very limited though.

She is not good with this ability though since nobody taught her and so the most she can do is use raw life energy to create primitive beings that she uses as weapons.

In Soul Trail, her special attack is making a little dude that goes in a straight line and damages far away opponents. Once I restart development I plan on adding more of this ability to her move set.

She claims to hear voices from space. Her favorite animals are tarantulas and she really likes long sleeved clothing along with robes.

Backstory

She lives in a solitary planet with her older sister, Nube. Their parents are long gone and so her sister takes care of her and usually does what is best for her. Mag attends navigation classes at some kind of academy and she hates it there. Often daydreaming of what could be is she were able to sail out into space on a ship of her own with treasures to find, foes to defeat, and people to befriend. All in her own way without anyone telling her what to do.

Beneath all her harshness hides a lonely girl who only wants friends and a life she can have control over. Her short-lived creations are the only creatures who stay by her side.

Her creations only live for minutes. She likes to sit on the roof of her house and talk to them

One day something really big would happen that would change her whole life...

Inspiration

As mentioned in the post, she is a nebula; a space cloud. She is meant to be the Magellanic Cloud (hence her name) and her coloration is taken from NGC 2074. The powers Nebulites have of creating life is a reference to how all planets are born from nebulae, this could eventually lead to the creation of life within these planets.

She was the first character made for this project and has gone through some changes over the years.

As for her clothes and design, I was really into Kirby at the time and so many of my early designs sort of looked like spacey Kirby-ish inspired creatures.

This was a much needed redo of my first post on Tumblr.

It just came to me her outfit was totally inspired by Toon Link from The Legend of Zelda along with her proportions and body shape. Idk why I forgot lol.

Updated Info on Future Phantom Thieves (as of the second P5X Beta)

As of the second beta, there are currently three known future Phantom Thieves, and two other things that may either be related to one of them, or tied to yet another future thief.

The first up is Riko Tanemura, also known by the codename Wind in the files (though as a note, file codenames may or may not be the official codenames in-game).

We don't really have any new info on her to add to what we got in the first beta, but she continues to be referred to in the files by a codename, she's still featured in promo art with the main cast, and she's still a silhouette in the second beta's title screen, so she'll likely be the next teammate to join in the game's story.

In both betas, we see her only at school, as an older student who mainly appears in scenes to remind other students of the rules. She and Motoha seem to be at least a bit familiar with each other. She was also listed as a Confidant in the first beta, but it was locked.

Her Japanese voice actress is Atsumi Tanezaki.

The next one's name is currently unknown (though her keychain says "Aran", so that may be part of her name), but she appears in a scene in the second beta, and her codename in the files is Polter.

While no visual evidence of her future thief outfit exists in the files, she matches the naming convention used for all known Phantom Thief characters, both story and Phantom Idols, so it's extremely likely she will join the team in some capacity.

In the second beta, she appears as screenshotted above- riding on the train at the same time as Wonder, Motoha, and Cattle, they unknowingly catch her attention, and she digs around in her bag for her sketchbook as the train is stopped. However, when she looks back, she's confused to find they've vanished into thin air (as they used the MetaNav to enter Mementos to get off the train).

She appears to wear a school uniform underneath her purple jacket, and her bag has the Kiga High School emblem on it, so she's almost certainly a high school student attending there.

The third one's name is also partially unknown, though some gossiping girls on the train refer to him as "Ikenami-kun", so his last name is likely Ikenami. His codename in the files is Enco, and he appears very briefly towards the beginning of the second beta.

Similarly to Polter, his 3D model in the files matches the Phantom Thief naming convention, so it's extremely likely he will join the team in some capacity as well.

In the second beta, he rides the same train one morning that Wonder is taking to school. Wonder overhears two gossiping Kokatsu girls refer to Enco as a "good-looking guy", then they recognize his uniform as being Kiga High's, and exclaim he must be Ikenami-kun (implying he has some kind of reputation to be recognized for). He doesn't visibly react to their gossip in any way, and is only shown reading his book for the entire scene.

Besides being a Kiga High student, his 3D model has a pin with a II on it, so he's most likely specifically a second year.

Other possible aspects related to future Phantom Thieves include the "Pegasus" Persona in the files, and the "yui" codename file that appears to visibly say "Bui".

In addition to the battle portrait above, Pegasus has a 3D model as well.

There's no indication of whose Persona Pegasus is, however, or clue as to who the codename "Bui" might belong to either. It could be any of the three future thieves listed above, or someone else entirely, and on top of that, Pegasus and Bui may or may not be related to the same thief.

There is also an unfamiliar Japanese name in the files, 梅洛普, who could be a future teammate or may just be someone Wonder receives text message(s) from.

YUjkw4gfearglsrhsrh omfg thank you so much. I honestly started posting more for myself, and have notifs for my posts turned off so I don't focus too much on the engagement, but the asks I've already gotten so far makes me so hyped.

Anyway, I was thinking of calling them the As, but calling them the Aces actually fits since Alastor would be the leader and I'm planning to keep him asexual ( demisexual in specific. I don't remember if I mentioned this in his post or not. ) I just prefer my one-sided RadioStatic, even in other AUs. ( Edit: Angel and Rosie obviously aren't aces, though aces are represented by the different suits of ace cards idfk the pun is too great for leader Alastor ace man not to make )

Also, for Vox, I do plan on making him an older TV model, but I also plan on maybe making him monochromatic/achromatic ( aka no color or only one color. Most likely black/white/gray with blue mixed in. ) I thought that'd fit since he's gonna be, well, an older TV model that likely won't have color. I'm also thinking of using the style of older cartoons for his face somehow, but we'll see about that when I get to it.

And the design explanations is just cuz I put too much thought into these fuckers not to. I mean, I literally looked up car radio references for Alastor's design, which made Youtube show me ads for car fixing services lmao.

Also, just cuz I need to share this, I actually did a lineup of the Aces ( as I will call them from now on cuz that's just too good not to ) and I actually realized something

Their designs sort of share similarities. Fx. Alastor and Rosie both have some form of blue in their outfits ( which are obviously taken from the regular Vees, ) while Rosie and Angel are the only ones with hearts in their design. Similarly Alastor and Angel are also the only ones with some form of matter controlling ability??? ( smoke and electricity respectfully ) and if you take a look at the original Vees' designs, Vox and Valentino both have sharp teeth while Velvette don't In my Aces designs Alastor and Angel also coincidentally ended up being the only two having gold/yellow in their designs.

I just think it's neat that they have connections in their designs like that when you put them side-by-side and wanted to point it out idk I'll stop rambling now

80s Kids: Afton Kids

I've been meaning to draw my own version of the Afton kids from Five Nights at Freddy's for some time now and here they are! :3

I'm also doing the Duchess Celestia ideas challenge(50 ideas actually) and picked the second choice which is 'Look at some of your old photos and either draw them or something inspired by them'. While I have the photos, I'm not going to post them here for safety reasons but I was born in early 80s and have some memories of the era. Since the Afton kids were living in early to mid 80s era I figured they're perfect idea to draw them.

For Evan Afton aka the Crying Child from Fnaf 4(Evan is not an official name by the way but it seems to be the most popular fan name), his outfit was based on a former neighbor kid from Tuscon neighborhood in Arizona. The kid was around eight or ten years old(can't remember as I was three back then) but I do remember the shirt and shorts he was wearing when he was over along with his older sister (who was my babysitter). I don't remember how many stripes was on his shirt so I'm only guessing.

The oldest Afton kid, Michael Afton from Sister Location and Fnaf4, as much as I liked the teen Michael render with Peter Parker hair(I forgot who made it but you'll see it on Fnaf animations on YT), it doesn't seem to match up with the early to mid 80s hair style. Me and other fans think he should have a mullet hair as it was popular hairstyle in the 80s. I got inspired of Steve Harrington's mullet like hairstyle from Stranger Things and I loved it how it turned out. I also made the jacket based from Eddie Munson(also from Stranger Things) because it looks bad ass and since Michael is a rebel, I put the Metallica logo patch on his jacket. Lastly, Elizabeth Afton's(either middle child or youngest, I'm not sure as there's a debate over it so I'm making her a middle child) dress was based from a Simplecity sewing pack. I changed the stripe colors to pink and blue based from her original dress she wore from Sister Location(which she possess Circus Baby). The dress was pretty popular for little girls in the 80s and I had a dress similar like that(mine was light blue with flowers, I think they were small daisies, can't remember) along with my daycare mates. I found it on Etsy when I was trying to find an 80s summer/spring dress when I found it. I also gave her a Mary Jane shoes.

I am sorry that Evan's and Mike's shoes didn't turn out well as it's my first time drawing sneakers(I know it looks bad) and I didn't use any references(which I should have but oh well).

I tried to make the 80s retro back ground using a tutorial but it didn't came out the way I wanted so I just kept the bottom grid. I promise I'll try to make a better one next time as I really loved the 80s grid background.

First of all for me it's logical to think that you are part of the fearsome fighters of the Akatsuki. Proudly wearing your black outfit with a red cloud pattern so recognizable everywhere you went. It's your boyfriend, the explosive artist Deidara who designated it, as it was a bit too long for you and was getting in the way when you were fighting

Even though it looked great on you, he liked it better when you took it off, revealing your yellow and green outfit, matching the color of his hair and ring. With a black tattooed dragon resting proudly on your chest, which he was trying to replicate with his clay

He sees you as a real masterpiece, his masterpiece

On the other hand you prefer to think of yourself as a Swiss Army knife and you have good reason. You have already mastered a great number of martial arts. In fact all the most important ones. Jujustu, easy, taekwondo, a piece of cake and not only that. You proudly add kung-fu, boxing, judo, karate, muay thai, savate… you have enough to say for an hour

That's the reason why you were able to join Akatsuki, they realized that your fighting skills were beyond comprehension. You were very grateful, because you were surrounded by ninja deserters, nukenin, like you and especially because you met your soul mate, the beautiful Deidara, the artist who gave back its colors to your life

At that time, however, no one suspected that your fighting abilities were not at all due to a particular power but only to your training and that you were saving your true potential for an

emergency case. Only if the fight became really out of hands

If your allies didn't know the extent of your powers, how would the enemies know ?

So for a long time your comrades only saw you fighting hand to hand with nunchakus or a stick

Deidara was amazed every time he attended your fights when you were paired together. One day you caught a kunai thrown at full speed towards your eye with only two fingers. He felt that sometimes it was almost too easy for you. It's true that with your stamina, your speed, your agility and your 5 fives multiplied like that no enemy could compete with you

That is, until the Konoha ninjas got involved

The problem is that this is the village you deserted and they, at least the older ones, already know your secret power and your level of fighting

That is to say that somersaults and baton twirling were useless against opponents like Guy Maito or Kakashi Hatake who once trained with you

So you hid behind a tree and put your shining hand on the place where his arm should be and eased his pain. To his surprise he relaxed immediately and gave you a loving and affectionate toothy grin. Until he realized that it was you that was taking the pain for him

"Sunshine please don't hurt for me" he said to you while moving back slightly to cancel the effect of your power but you came closer and resumed what you were doing brushing one of his gold strand behind his ear. He looked at you with hearts in his eyes before kissing your cheek

After the fiasco of this mission you decided to train even harder to make sure to never see him hurt like that

You managed to master the Iron Fist with your second hand. Being able to concentrate your vital energy to strike without taking a momentum with that one too

You took a cue from Guy and Rock Lee's kicking style attacks for the rest of your training. Trying to concentrate your chakra in your foot so that it can blow through walls and metal doors

Deidara loves to call you "The queen of the grand entrance"

The last step of your training was the most difficult. This is the mental side of your power

You realized that in a moment of stress you could communicate mentally with your boyfriend

The first time it happened you were 500 meters ( 0.007 miles ) away from him and he heard you yell a mentally directed insult at your opponent but he could have sworn you were screaming next to him, turning around to make sure you weren't there but of course you weren't. In the evening he had asked you about it and that's when you realized your potential

After weeks of training you were able to establish a psychic link with your allies enough for them to respond to you in battle

In everyday life it was quite practical to exchange sweet words with Deidara without the others hearing or just when you wanted to see the pink rise on his cheeks and his eyes turn to the other side as the pink turned red

It's in the extension of this ability that Itachi came to talk to you. Indeed, he was wondering if your pshychic ability could be close to his hypnotic Sharingan. Two hypnotists in the ranks of the Akatsuki was better than one

So you started to train with him and after much effort you were able to master light effects that had the ability to hypnotize your enemies

Deidara was a bit jealous during the time you were training. He felt that you were spending all your time with the Uchiwa. But the truth was that he wasn't going easy on you and the training was more torture than fun as Deidara feared

At least, thanks to Itachi, you were able to improve your kunai throwing and your psychic abilities

All the members of the Akatsuki were pleased to have a member as powerful as you

Soon you would be able to rule the world with the help of you and your powers

And Deidara couldn't be prouder of you. He never stopped reminding people that you were his muse, his sorcery of inspiration and above all the love of his life

"On your knees all of you ! The muse of destruction is going to take over your lives on behalf of the Akatsuki !"

This is an older candy that I've never posted about as far as I remember, so here goes.

Fake, fan fiction, CPN.

GG created the painting for an ad shoot, and was pictured working on it in an ad for Hotel Indigo that was filmed at Wuyuanwan Beach, Xiamen in late summer 2019. He called the painting "My Ideal Life".

BXG found a lot of little hidden clues in the painting. It's actually one of the things that really establishes GG as a guy who likes to put little hidden meanings into his art.

Some of the clues I feel are totally blatant (outlined in yellow below), others I'm not as sure about (outlined in orange).

GG himself. He is standing with a cat, which is most likely Jianguo.

A sailboat that reminded BXG of a Weibo post DD had made back in 2017 where he talked about an encounter with a deaf mute man (more on that below).

BXG feel the shadow under DD looks a lot like a guy on a skateboard.

BXG feel the shadow under the bicycle looks a lot like a man riding a motorcycle.

DD on the beach

Here are just a few of the many outfits BXG have pointed out as potential inspiration for the depiction of DD in the painting. The first one is from a May 2019 video DD recorded.

I think DD being on the beach is pretty self-explanatory. DD is a big part of GG's 'ideal life'.

The bicycle

GG had never really learned to ride a bike well. He said in an interview that in Chongqing there are too many hills, and riding a bike "would amount to suicide." For the filming of the Hotel Indigo ad he took a while to get used to riding the bike and stumbled adorkably quite a bit at first (it wasn't really his first time riding a bike, there's video of him riding a bike during the filming of Superstar Academy as well).

I have no idea what the bike represents for GG. I bet DD does.

The sailboat

In the Weibo post from #7 above:

DD shared a photo of a sailboat and said,

When I went out just now, a deaf-mute man stopped me downstairs in my house and asked me to look at the words written in his notebook, which says "I'm a deaf-mute man and I'm going to an interview, can you tell me the nearest subway station nearby?" I pointed it out for him. Then he wrote "Can you send me another blessing" and I wrote "Jaiyou! ❤️" Suddenly I felt that our happiness came too easily, how unhappy all people are working hard for life. The loneliness, unhappiness, worry, and loss I have experienced were instantly worthless in front of him. Next, for a more meaningful life, come on~~~

Little did DD know at the time, but this was actually part of the filming of a hidden camera episode, where people were filmed secretly to see if they'd help out a deaf-mute man in the street. OF COURSE DD did the right thing and went out of his way to help the guy, and was emotionally impacted by the experience. He's just that kind of sweet guy.

Anyway, the idea that GG was referencing this 2017 post by DD seems like a bit of a stretch to me. I think just about any painting of an ocean is likely to feature a sailboat. It's hard for me to say that he was referencing a post DD made 2 years prior.

If he is referencing anything from the post, it's more likely that he knows the backstory of the sailboat photo DD posted. Maybe he was even with DD when the photo was taken. If that's the case it would be a reference intended specifically for DD, and not necessarily something he thinks anyone else would understand or pick up on.

But like I said, it could just be the obligatory sailboat that always appears in beachside photos and art. And if people enjoy the CPN that GG was referencing that post, don't let me rain on it.

Some thoughts on 'upside down' hidden items

Some people feel that turning the painting upside down, etc. is a bit much and unlikely to be something he did to paint the hidden shadows (skateboarder, motorcycle) while filming the ad. I understand that skepticism, but I think it's possible (maybe even likely) that he painted the picture in advance of the shoot and just added a daub of paint here or there for the filming. Time is money on a film set, and I doubt they'd have time for him to paint this entire, fairly complex painting.

It's also watercolor with a lot of washes, and yet with not many runs or drips, which tells me he likely painted this while it was laying flat.

That doesn't mean that the shadows were done to look like a skateboarder and a motorcycle, though. I remain pretty skeptical about it myself. After all, he has DD in the flesh walking across the beach, and DD's name written across the ocean. I'm not sure he needs much more symbology than that. It would be a bit... overstating things for him to flog the issue with a reference to DD in every element of the picture. And since I think the picture was aimed at DD and not BXG (more on that below), I don't think he'd need all those other, more cryptic elements. But it's possible that was his intent. Hard to say for sure.

Other elements BXG have pointed out

In 2018 when DD was working on the animated film Crystal Sky of Yesterday (he sang a song for the soundtrack and also dubbed the main role), in an interview he said his favorite line was, "Waiting for you to be a cartoonist and draw a story about us."

And in the ad voiceover when he's 'creating' this painting, GG is heard saying "If possible, I wish I can start my life anew as an artist. As the brush dances across the paper I can hear what it is saying."

I don't know who wrote the text GG is speaking in the voiceover, so it's hard to say whether he was referencing DD's favorite line from that film.

My CPN on the painting

It's clear GG is referencing DD in this painting. The blatant use of his name (王 in particular really stands out in the waves), the guy walking across the beach (why a guy and not a woman for your 'ideal life' partner, GG?), those are the only proof I need that he's talking about DD. Anything else fans want to read into it is fine, but I think it would be very difficult for someone to explain away these 'coincidences'.

I think GG likely created this picture for DD, to show him that his ideal life involves the two of them together. A sweet, romantic gesture. I don't think he necessarily intended for everyone to dissect it the way they have.

I think it's possible that the massive fan 'detective' reaction to this image inspired GG to keep incorporating these hidden elements in his graphics moving forward. But to me, this is a very intimate image, and I feel like it was meant for DD, not necessarily as a candy for BXG.

I think it's funny how solos never seem to have much to say about this painting that their idol created of his 'ideal life'. Could it be because there's no easy way for them to self-insert into the picture? Because GG's ideal life in the picture didn't involve a wife and a bunch of children running around (or even a woman of any description)? 🤔

Anyway, this is just my take on it all, Anon. Everyone is free to come up with their own interpretation.

3) Design/Aesthetic Thoughts

I have a lot of thoughts on his design, but precious few of them are anything substantial. Regardless, I am including them all. Lol.

[2] I hate drawing that hat though, I really do. It's the bane of my wretched existence. I hope that swingy glintstone piece whacks him in the face ♡

[3] The jester boots. Lol. What is he thinking.

[4] So many layers. How does he not overheat and die immediately.

[5] What the hell is that stupid little cape necklace. I love him

[6] The fact that that blue and yellow are his main colors has some fitting connotations under Hankshaw's Video on Color Theory in Elden Ring. Here's my thoughts, copypasted from an older post:

He's a mix, an entity in the Lands between unlike any other. Calm, logical, rebellious. Creative. Lonely. An agent of change, as much a scholar of the Order's history as he is a heretic. As a sorcerer who to seeks to repair the Order by altering it, Rogier is a striking clash of ideologies.

[7] His concept art (?) on fextralife is interesting. He seems to be older, and he's possibly using the staff as a cane.

I wonder how his story and injury changed and adapted throughout development. Was he originally meant to play a bigger (or smaller) part in the game's world? He seems to be at the heart of something big, but he also seems so inconsequential in the grand scope of things. Was a more involved story cut, or was it always intended to be this way?

Also, why’d they get rid of the laugh lines? :( I guess ill just have to bring them back in my art.

[8] I love how his outfit incorporates glintstone:

It's even in his boots, and the sleeves of his doublet... overshirt... thing.

I love how the blue/yellow/white of his design contrasts the red/yellow/black of Alberich's. Note how Alberich's is decorated with red glintstones, made from blood sacrifices:

Also of note, their respective hats describe them as “heretical.”

(I went deeper into looking at Alberich as Rogier's foil, but honestly, that post went... a lot off the rails.)

6) Psychological Headcanons

(tastes, fears, talents, regrets, how they deal with anger, just anything that comes to mind on the topic)

[1] He wields customer service voice and scripts like no other. He’ll spill soup on you and give such a good apology that it'll make you want to make it up to him.

(Whether or not this is intentional... It probably depends on the situation.)

[2] Talents: according to this, his dex is actually higher than his int.

Given that, it seems he’s more practiced with sword than spell. Or at least, he picked up sword-fighting before sorcery. Which brings me to this YouTube short by a fencer, where he says that fencing and dancing are "intricately linked," and "one really informs the other."

So here's my silly little headcanon: Back in the day, in his life before, Rogier killed it on the ballroom floor. (Or whatever they had back then.)

...I wonder how many situations he talked himself out of (and into) while dancing with a partner. It seems like the perfect time to turn his "easy air" up to 11, as D calls it.

Idk, I think his life among nobility shaped the way he wields his manners. I'd love to think he learned how to turn his skills from that life into a weapon, one just as effective as his sword. That before his time in The Lands Between, it was really the only weapon he could use against the agendas of others.

[3] His fear: his untimely demise. I think the onset of this only really began after his injury. That's when he began to really understand the risks associated with his research.

Look at it this way: there’s knowing something is dangerous and acting accordingly, and then there’s understanding what the consequences are. (Ex: wearing PPE because you know you should, vs actually seeing what exposure to a chemical does to you.)

Before Stormveil, desperation and denial probably helped keep that understanding at bay. He’s chasing this thing, and he knows it’s dangerous—he’s done all the reading and research he possibly can. But I wonder how much he actually let himself stop and think about the danger before he jumped into his search for the next artifact.

But now that he does truly grasp what’s in store for him, there’s no way to change course. I think that his fate (and it's inevitability) scares him to no end. I think it kills him that he won't be able to finish what he started. That he doesn't have time anymore—in the land where no one's supposed to die, no less.

The only thing he can do is work on his research a little more before he succumbs to the deathless dream. That’s where you, as the player, come in.

(Side note: as for how long he’s in denial about the fatality of his condition—I can’t say. He could realize it's over as soon as he wakes up in the Hold, or he could be clinging onto some far-fetched hope all the way until he warns the player he’s falling asleep. Readers preference, I suppose.)

[4] Regrets: the better question is what doesn’t he regret, lol.

Jokes aside, I think most of his regrets center around how things came to pass, rather than what came to pass. I don't think he regrets that he and D parted ways, but I think he regrets how it came to happen. That kind of thing.

[5] One last random headcanon: He's not a morning person. That first hour or so after waking—oof. That’s when his demeanor isn’t at full power yet. I have a small little bit for this in Still Waters planned, far off in the future. Because I want to hear him honestly complain for once, without all that dignity. I think it'd be fun to watch.

Levi has always been a soft spoken, shy, nervous and nerdy/geeky boy who preferred the company of his six, same age grouped, female cousins to that of the rest of his cousins and other children. The female cousins preferring Levi’s company as well to that of their obnoxious and violent brothers.

They’ve done everything together from the time they were born till the present. Played, shopped, cooked, baked, took self defense classes, constructed and built, (the silverstien clan had a delicatessen and construction company and all the children helped out) they helped him invent, they read comics, had sleepovers, danced, played music, sang, were In plays. They did it all together as a group because they genuinely enjoyed one anothers company (and because their parents collectively forced the kids to have a well rounded education in the arts).

His cousins, who he affectionately refers to as “A group of hyenas.” Or “The yeens.”are extremely protective of him since hes been bullied and beaten relentlessly by their brothers since childhood. But the abuses were in house too with their uncle (Levi’s father) verbally accosting him any chance he got. Why? For the crime of being “Soft.” (Levi not learning till much later that was his dads way of trying to protect him and make him tough enough to deal with the real world.) So the yeens who adored him became his protectors and he theirs.

Once when Levi was around eight years old, his father fed up with his sons seeming inability to be manly took him aside, dressed him in girls clothing and stood him in front of the mirror saying something along the lines of “Since you want to be soft like a girl you should dress like one too. See what an ugly girl you make? You would never make it in the world like this. This is why you need to toughen up and be a man.” His father didn’t know anything about fashion so the hair, makeup and dress he styled his son in did indeed make him an ugly “girl”.

It devastated Levi. The boy who already at his young age had a poor view of his own looks thought he was hideous. Breaking into heavy sobs he ran to his cousins, showing them how hideous he was. The yeens argued that he was cute, despite the horrible way he was dressed. When Levi was finally calmed down and they were able to get ahold of him, they tore the hideous clothes off and dressed him in their cutest and frilliest clothes, his hair done in a micro side pony with those charm hairbands (you know the ones with the plastic or wood charms that hurt like a bitch if they snapped you in the skull) and some light makeup. They put him back in front of the mirror and showed him how cute he REALLY was and how if he WERE a girl he’d be a very cute one. His view of himself changed, if only a little bit. But It was there he learned of his love of crossdressing. He liked being cute with his cousins and when they all went out dressed up he often got compliments he never did in his usual dress. (That eventually changes when he starts dressing better)

As he grew older he kept up with the crossdressing in secret. Putting on a feminine voice to keep his identity secret when he went out with his cousins or alone. Even inventing a wearable voice changer in the style of a choker he could swap out with various outfits to save his vocal cords the strain.

The Yeens being the only ones in the know about his continued crossdressing and online show Levy’s Space. Levi made it a family friendly two hour long variety show seven days a week with weekday ratings never reaching passed tv-g/pg and weekends being reserved for teens/adults with a more mature nature never passing tv-14/R. He baked, cooked, danced, sang, read stories, played games watched movies and did makeup, nail and hair and outfit tutorials. Talked to the audience and generally made it as fun and friendly as he could while in the Levy persona.

Thanks to Levy, Levi eventually becomes confident in his own masculinity without it turning toxic. The other men in his family eventually follow suit, learning to become more relaxed and accepting of themselves and some even (like his father) trying to express themselves in more adventurous ways.

Lightning McQueen 2006

So here is my first Tumblr post in the Cars fandom

So for the sake of accuracy I decided to do research on what human McQueen would look like in 2006 since that's the year Cars was released and the setting it was in so I looked at humanization fanarts in the fandom and I decided to do my own version but not out of disrespect but try to do it on my own. So McQueen's voice actor is Owen Wilson so I decided to based it on his appearance in 2006 and I settled for naturally blonde-haired since too much golden hair or bleach blonde hair for me doesn't fit in his red color palette suit and red hair is overdone with the same red color suit and the color brunette hair doesn't fit well either. And since McQueen is confirmed by Cars 3 director to be born in 1977, which makes him 29 years old in 2006 I decided to make him an older adult except he's still looks young just liek how Owen Wilson looked back in 2006 rather than make him a teenager or a twink whatever but it depends.

So for the sake of using realism x cartoon or semi-realism as it's called I want to based it on Pixar male models like the Incredibles of 2004 before Cars was released a year later.

But I found out the style may not be so appealing so sorry for the sake of innacuracy I decided to go to the most common male models of other styles semi realistic characters from 2010's Pixar movies outside of the Incredibles, like Inside Out and I finally settled to use the main character model as my inspiration is Andy Davis from Toy Story 3

As for the racing outfits I decided to research what were the outfits were used in 2006 NASCAR so I just so happend to find this outfit that is almost similar to McQueen's color pallete that is mainly red so I decided to used him as my reference model as for designing McQueen, and the inside of his suit was a white t-shirt with a number 66 which is foreshadowing of his crashing inthe town of Radiator Springs of Route 66

As for the decals I based it on stickers online and Idecided to edit them on McQueen's racing gear based on each sides of the sentient car himself

His helmet is based on Owen Wilson's holding Lightning McQueen helemet

Although the only exception was that it was replaced with Lightning Bolt bec that helmet is Cars 3 hemet since the 2006 version of the first movie I've researched doesn't exist

As for the Cars is really complicated since McQueen based on his description from every wikipedia on his models was a variety was "Lightning's design was inspired by NASCAR stock cars, and a more curvaceous Plymouth Superbird, 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, and with some slight cues from the Ford GT40, Lola, and Porsche 911."

But since he may also be based on a Corvette and fro mthe lyrics of Real Gone it was said "I'm American made, Bud Light, Chevrolet", meaning it was possibly confirmed he was a Chevrolet Corvette and based on othe reasearch and the artists that modeled him While McQueen is not modeled directly after a specific make and model, the artists mixed and matched elements of the Chevrolet Corvette C6 and Corvette C1.

So I did some research and it was hard to find one until I settled in Chevrolet Corvette C6R from 2005 since it was possibly the only one that is accurate to the design in McQueen for the most part and since I noticed McQueen's front face is chubby and it looks kinda accurate from the pic I got that I based it on the right car

I’ve actually had this sketch unfinished in my sketchbook for a while, but I finally got around to fully editing it...this is Carewyn at her coronation, when she first became Queen of Hearts! Yeah, she does look a little less than excited about it. But hey, when you become Queen not because you want to (on the contrary), but because it might be the only leverage you have to stop the woman who’s tyrannically taken over your country of birth as a despot queen and to somehow protect your brother and mother from that same woman...yeah, that crown is going to feel really bloody heavy. Especially when there are so many people suddenly counting on you to succeed: not just your new partner, the current King Declan, but also the previous Queen Rosalie and the countless citizens you now represent. 😞

As you can see, though, even on this grand day where she’s dressed to the nines, Carewyn still holds onto a bit of modesty, with her hair in a modest braid and wearing her regular green Club earrings that Orion gifted her so many years ago. And despite the slightly melancholy stoicism of her posture, she held her head up high and spoke with the conviction of a general, when she addressed her new people as Queen.

“Not long ago, I journeyed here, with naught but dreams of advancing my education. Yet in my short time here, you have welcomed me, and for that, I shall always be grateful. It is for this gratitude -- and for the love I have grown for this land that’s embraced me -- that I shall fight to protect, provide, and advocate for you, as your Queen...for however long that you have both a want and need of me. Although this crown...is not one I ever would have chosen, for myself...I’m truly honored by our fair Queen Rosalie’s faith in me, as well as King Declan’s, and all of yours. Your faith in me is a gift so priceless, I don’t think I could ever be worthy of it...but I will try my best to honor that faith, all the same. From the bottom of my heart...thank you...and long may our Kingdom prosper, long beyond this Frabjous Day.”

Carewyn didn’t socialize that much at the coronation ball afterwards. Both she and Declan were much more attuned to speaking about important matters of state with their court and foreign representatives than small talk, so they almost simultaneously decided to withdraw and enjoy their guests’ levity from the sidelines.

“Will they really not mind if we just sit back?” Carewyn asked. Even with how much she dearly wanted to do just that, she didn’t want to offend anyone.

“Not at all,” Declan reassured her. He then offered her a slightly more mischievous smile. “Just remember to keep your head up, sit up straight and tall...and smile and nod slowly whenever you make eye contact with someone. Makes you look more regal.”

Carewyn bit her lip to hold in a laugh, before accepting the arm Declan offered her and following the older man back to the thrones at the back of the hall. The two royals then proceeded to chat more casually for the rest of the night, sometimes about politics, sometimes about the party and its guests, but occasionally also slipping in the odd reference to the works of Charles Dodgson, now and again. (Declan was very well-read, and he was actually rather happy to have someone else around who enjoyed talking about literature.)

The best thing about the coronation, however, was what came two days later, when Orion was finally able to come up from the Land of Clubs himself. Carewyn had been surprised and delighted enough to see her old friend again so soon...but when she saw that he’d not only brought her a white Abraxan of her own as a belated coronation gift (which honestly had been overwhelming enough!), but also a blond-haired traveling companion who at the sight of Carewyn was so full of pride she couldn’t hold in her tears.

Carewyn herself was crying just as hard herself when she ran forward, right past Declan, Orion, and her dear new Abraxan horse. She paid them or any reactions from possible witnesses no mind -- chucking out all of her usual stoicism and composure completely, she dashed across the courtyard to Orion’s open carriage and threw her arms around the older blond woman standing in front of it, latching onto her as if she never wanted to let go again.

“MUM! Mum -- Mum...!”

Carewyn’s voice was as choked and adoring as a child’s -- as if her whole heart had burst, and the emotion locked inside behind that dam for so long had flooded every inch of her being. Lane’s voice was a mere shadow of her daughter’s, hushed in the back of her throat and unsubstantial, and yet overcome and aching with relief, love, and pride.

“Winnie -- oh, my Winnie...my baby...my baby...”

The two held each other for close to ten whole minutes, stroking each other’s backs and hair, rocking each other back and forth, shaking, and crying all the while. After three years of painful separation, doubting whether they’d ever see each other again...here they were -- together and free.
