Oh, hey. One of the heist dialogues has Ana, Elsie, and Osiris talking about Nefele Stronghold.
Yes! Here.
Elsie: Submind fragment compiling...
Osiris: I have seen this term more than once in the data feed. What is "Nefele Stronghold"?
Ana: That again? Ikora's spies turned up that name around the same time Mars came back, but it was scrubbed from Rasputin's archives.
Elsie: I've never heard that name either, but "stronghold" designations were only used for colonization projects, or... anti-extinction vaults.
Osiris: This is promising. Perhaps additional clues await in the information we've already collected. Someone tell Saint I'll be in my study.
Really good confirmation that "strongholds" were about colonisation projects which ties into the whole story about Soteria from the dungeon and how she ended up crashing into Neptune, which directly confirms Neomuna's creation.
Obviously, Osiris and co don't have all the same details that we do right away, which is why Osiris is informing us that he has to go to his study immediately. Essentially without the knowledge we got from the dungeon, this would still be impossible to fully confirm and also impossible for the characters in-game to understand, but with these two combined, they'll figure it out in time for Lightfall.
It's not entirely clear what "anti-extinction vault" is. My first association is the Global Seed Vault (also dubbed "doomsday vault"), a real thing that exists:
The Seed Vault provides long-term storage of duplicates of seeds conserved in genebanks around the world. This provides security of the world's food supply against the loss of seeds in genebanks due to mismanagement, accident, equipment failures, funding cuts, war, sabotage, disease and natural disasters.
Basically, it's a vault that hosts seeds of various plants from all over the world which makes sure that, in the event of any disaster of any kind which threatens to destroy the environment, we have a backup of all plants needed for food production to re-seed the planet. It's located in the Arctic to make sure that the seeds remain safely stored in the event of a catastrophic power failure; the ice would then preserve the seeds naturally.
Given that we have this now, it's not a stretch to imagine that people would do the same in the Destiny universe, especially in the Golden Age. It's basically one of the first instincts really, to make sure our knowledge is preserved for the future, in case of a disaster. This is an absolutely fascinating concept to me and one that I would fully expect for Destiny to mention in some way; humanity in Destiny was already concerned with our longterm safety and envisioned a lot of different colonisation projects that tie directly with finding a place for humans to live in should the Solar system become uninhabitable for whatever reason.
This seems to be playing with that concept. I wonder if they plan on mentioning that again.
Some non-canon stuff from my obsession with this below:
The mention of anti-extinction vaults and what they could possibly mean is also really exciting to me because I've assumed their existence... in a Destiny tabletop RP I led almost 3 years ago!
I often talk about that one niche lore mention of how Antarctica is gone in the present day of Destiny and the presumed idea that the continent was sunk in the Collapse. Well, for my Destiny RP with my friends, I wanted to explore that. I needed a reason for my players being there in the Collapse, so, inspired by the Global Seed Vault, I envisioned a similar vault being buried in Antarctic ice, but much bigger in scope.
Mine was a Braytech facility and it did not just hold seeds, but a record of all life and knowledge on Earth; genetic material of animals, seeds from plants, archives and libraries. I also connected the work of the vault to the Exodus program and had the vault equipping Exodus ships with packages of Earth life and knowledge for colonists to take into their new worlds.
My reasoning for Darkness going out of their way to completely erase the entire continent off the face of the planet is that they wanted to make sure all of our history dies with us. It knew what we had hidden there and it knew that the destruction had to be thorough.
It was a cool RP! Everybody died!
The graphics I made for the players:
Tumblr media
IMAGINE MY SURPRISE when Beyond Light came out 9 months after this and the missing pages from Clovis' logbook had the following:
I cannot believe that I actually find it tiring, but the sheer scale and passivity of the Vex constructs infuriates me.
Imagine stumbling upon an inscription in the desert: "I am Ozymandias, king of kings. Look upon my works. Or don't. I really don't care."
I think I also similarly lost my shit when I heard this line about anti-extinction vaults in the game. There is still time for Bungie to completely confirm a thing I invented 3 years ago as canon. This is how me getting more content about Antarctica being sank by Darkness can still win.

book notes: Earthen Floors
by Sukita Reay Crimmel and James Thomson
Tumblr media
This book was recommended to me during my strawbale workshop while we were discussing concrete slabs. Foundations are the one place it is very hard to avoid using concrete, which sucks. Concrete is a huge source of CO2 emissions (about 8% of worldwide emissions, from what I saw online); there are lower emission concrete mixes but that gets expensive and probably out of reach for a normal homebuilder. So then the question becomes: how little concrete can you get away with?
Personally, I have always wanted a basement under my home. It would give me a place for food storage, utilities and hobby space without needing another finished floor. I’d been imagining if you did a basement that you’d need to have a concrete slab for the floor, but folks at the workshop suggested you could do a compacted gravel slab topped with an earthen floor, so I checked out this book.
(fair warning the book does not *specifically* talk about basement floors, only slab-on-grade earthen floors and over-wood-framing floors. but based on what’s inside, I’ve extrapolated that you could totally pull this off in a basement).
I cannot remember where I’d first read about earthen floors, but whatever book that was had a very different approach - they were making a mostly dry mixture and then laboriously tamping it into place. Sukita’s book outlines a much friendlier sounding method - making a stiff earthen plaster mix and screeding and troweling it into place. The floor is then allowed to dry and then sealed with several coats of linseed oil. There are additional steps outlined for an even more polished floor: sanding, waxing and buffing the floor to get it super soft and smooth underfoot.
This book provides good explanations of:
Testing soil for use in earthen floors
Making test mixtures for earthen floors from your local materials
Prepping substrates (including tamped gravel slabs)
Installing earthen floors
Finishing earthen floors to varying levels of polished
It has definitely left me wanting to experiment with these methods, especially if my site ends up having a good clay subsoil. There aren’t a lot of other books on this topic so it’ll be difficult to do additional research. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for workshops.
Things I want to follow up on/think about:
Engineering requirements for a concrete slab floor in a basement?
Relative cost of earthen vs concrete floor
Weight calculations on earthen floors for over a wood subfloor...the method mentioned using burlap for tensile strength was intriguing and I’d like to hear if that installation remained solid longterm
Logistics for moving the earthen plaster into a basement (ramp with a plastic sled maybe, then transfer to a wheelbarrow at the bottom?)

not to induce panic or fawn over botulism, but I sincerely believe we need to reintroduce winter and longterm storages to a broader audience.
A lot of it is limited bc of space of course, but even many rural communities have replaced their winter prep with...driving to town.
Not that it is a bad thing and I'm not shitting on any individuals obv, but globalization does stunt the ability (or wish) of many communities to have their own safety net. And the negative sides to this become visible when it's too late to do anything about it.
Decentralize dependency, including but not limited to food production/storage, energy production/storage, trade, and even some stages of education and healthcare. Building a huuuuge hospital with all the equipment and capacity is cool, but it's shit if villagers of the entire province have to find a car in the middle of winter to get down from the mountains and drive all the distance to get a simple check up and then repeat that several times for the entire treatment. Just bc the local government invested all that money into that giga-hospital instead of many smaller healthcare stations within the villages.
It's cool to have a big park, but it's shit if a grandma can't take her grandkids there herself without having to spend half an hour and multiple forms of public transportation to get there.
Have many smaller communal things instead of only a single big one.
But yeah, considering climate change and the change of ag we need more people to not be fucked if the supermarkets aren't stocked. It would be amazing if governments worked for more decentralized ways of providing food.

God I love when GRRM fanbois snootily inform me that long winters are no problem for Westeros because they put aside some of their harvest into longterm storage every year. As much as 20% of their crop! But that’s okay, you’d have had to read the books to know that, so I wouldn’t have picked it up from the TV show.
And like I COULD talk about longterm food storage, about how grain appreciably loses its nutritional value every month after it’s harvested, about the effect extreme winters traditionally have on cultures, about the Little Ice Age and the worldwide consequences of the average temperature dropping a few degrees...
But instead I’m just trying to mutter “I bet your zombie apocalypse preparedness kit didn’t last two weeks into social distancing,” and move on.

i don't think horses exist in mosaic. or if they do, they're dangerous and strange and have powers - some people still ride them in the area that they're from, but they're not a widespread beast of burden. the more practical options are various forms of oxen and other four-legged creatures that have been either partially or fully domesticated.
in the Weird West Zone, there's large auroch-looking boys with fanciful horn shapes from specialized breeding; the especially large bony back crests on males makes riding them uncomfortable, so the males are usually beasts of burden or food sources while females are utilized for riding and caravaneering; longterm breeding has made them faster and sleeker for this process, but they're still quite large. they're also omnivorous bc their digestion/calorie storage works differently from a Real Cow, and there's plenty of ghost stories of riders getting eaten by their steed during famine or after mistreatment - but it's difficult for them to Hunt (versus scavenge), so those stories are Probably for effect/drama rather than actual warning. probably.

Headcanon: The Raichu line’s popularity can be traced back to several key film appearances and their high intelligence for pure electric types. The latter makes them quick to learn, aiding in training and, alongside their handlike forepaws, makes them popular as working and service pokemon. The former makes Pikachu in particular very popular pets. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that the need for a thunderstone to evolve greatly lowers the risk of owners being surprised with a sudden Raichu.
Out of the Raichu line, Pikachu are generally considered the easiest to keep. They generate enough electricity in enough voltage to be painful, but unless specifically trained and/or bearing a Light Ball not enough to do major damage to people. They also have better control over their powers than Pichu, though are still prone to accidental discharges when tired or woozy. [This publication suggests any individual keeping Pichu or Pikachu longterm invest in rubber bedding, lap mats, and gloves, and to not allow your chu-line pokemon- or any non-Rotom electric type- to sleep within five feet of electronics or electronic appliances.] While becoming overcharged stresses Pikachu as it does Raichu, Pikachu don’t tend towards aggression in those times. An overcharged Pikachu is more likely to become clingy- a holdover from the wild, where an overcharged Pikachu would share their electricity with an undercharged fellow- so experts recommend owners whose Pikachu begin exhibiting uncharacteristically clingy behavior or begin sparking at random intervals provide a safe and controlled way for their Pikachu to discharge that electricity as soon as possible. Partaking in sports or contest events and training for such are popular, and doing so regularly can prevent overcharging from occurring. Many devices also come with Pikachu-compatible rechargable batteries which, alongside providing tough berries and hard nuts for them to cook and eat, can allow Pikachu to discharge electricity on their own schedule.
Pichu are among the most care-intensive of baby stage pokemon available, alongside Bonsly and Tyrogue, and for this reason aren’t particularly popular as pets. Though they don’t produce enough electricity to case more than a small shock to humans Pichu have not yet developed the ability to control their own discharges and have a common tendency to shock themselves while discharging. These shocks distress the Pichu, and so owners must always be ready with comfort and support, and the erratic discharges mean any electronic item is at risk when within reach of a Pichu. Round-the-clock care and supervision is needed, either by a human caretaker or a pokemon experienced in dealing with baby stages. Pichu are very clingy and will generally attach to one or two individuals in a household, wanting to be around them at all times. Those intending to own a Pichu, whether or life or for evolving, must be prepared for this or this publication suggests instead investing in a Pikachu, as lack of proper socialization and affectionate care can harshly impact Pichu’s growth and development.
Most common in rural areas, as opposed to the more city-focused Pikachu and Pichu, Raichu are rarely if ever kept as pets, the majority of those registered to owners being classified as work or service pokemon. This is due to their great power, electrical production, and negative response to stress. Like Pikachu, Raichu will become stressed if overcharged, but unlike Pikachu the more territorial Raichu become aggressive which, alongside their high voltage and sheer amount of electricity storage, makes an overcharged Raichu extremely dangerous. In the wild, to prevent this, Raichu will mark their territories with scorchmarks made by electrocuting the ground, and so many owners mark their property with stone pillars which their Raichu can scorch. Owners who can’t do this are encouraged to involve their Raichu in sports or contest events to allow them to blow off steam instead if at all possible. If all else fails, most areas have a ground-types or pokemon with Volt Absorb, either volunteers or working for institutions like the fire department or Pokemon Centers, whose jobs are entirely to be on call to act as a target for overcharged Raichu to let discharge on. The upside of this is that healthy Raichu have no problem controlling their discharging while awake- any electric type can discharge in their sleep, though Raichu are still less prone than their earlier evolutions- and so with regular discharging are the least likely of the chu-line to cause injuries. Tests are currently underway to determine the viability of power companies establishing discharge stations, which would allow Raichu to safely discharge their electricity while giving owners a voucher off their electric bill. If implimented, this could increase popularity for Raichu in urban enviroments.
Alolan Raichu, a rare variant of the species only available in the Alola region- hence the name- has recently become quite popular due to it’s status as mascot of the popular cooking challenge program ‘Feeding the Fire’. Due to a combination of the tropical climate of Alola and not-yet-understood nutritional factors, currently hypothesized to be to do with the unique mineral composition of Alolan sea salt, Pikachu in the Alola region evolve into a unique form of Raichu, gaining the psychic typing as they do. This applies to any Pikachu who has been in Alola long enough to eat food, though seemingly not to Pikachu who have been out of Alola for more than four days. Alolan Raichu are more popular than the common Raichu among trainers, poke’athletes, and coordinators due to their exotic appearance and the higher range of abilities granted by their psychic typing, but their higher intelligence also makes them more distractable, making them unpopular with those who keep Raichu for work or services. All reports that Alolan Raichu are less prone to aggressive stress reactions have been proven false.
Outside of sports and competitions, Raichu have found their niche away from their more popular younger stages in the range of work they can do. Raichu can be found herding other pokemon, guarding properties, aiding in power plants, providing front-end service in restaurants, acting, aiding in lending a helping ear in hospitals, schools, and other buildings with large numbers of people who may or may need special attention at any one time. They’re also popular service pokemon, large enough, smart enough, and adaptable enough to be able to do most jobs required- ranging from acting as someone’s eyes or ears, to helping with simple tasks like item retrieval, to emotional support. Particularly serious Alolan Raichu have even been trained to sense when an owner will have a seizure, and are able to use their psychic powers to ensure their safety as it happens.
Note: All members of the Raichu line are highly social, tending to live in groups (called a storm) of Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu in the wild, and are prone to separation anxiety. Due to this it’s suggested that owners who cannot be with their chu-line pokemon for long periods at a time invest in a companion pokemon for them, place them in a pokemon daycare equipped to work with them when nessecary, or return them to their pokeball. Pikachu should not be left alone for periods longer than an hour, and Raichu no more than three hours. Pichu should never be left unattended.
Warning: Do not keep more than one Raichu of each sex in a household. Typically acting as elders to and guardians of their storms, Raichu form lifelong bonds with each other and can be extremely territorial towards members of their own sex. Breeders who wish to keep more than one pair are encouraged to ensure the pairs remain separated at all times- ideally by a minimum of ten feet, with a fence and aromatic hedge preventing them from seeing or smelling each other- for the safety of all involved.

Be Diverse With Your Long-Term Food Storage
Be Diverse With Your Long-Term Food Storage
[ad_1] Do not Focus on a Single Aspect of Food Storage You have heard of 'do not put all your eggs in one basket'. This adage applies to long-term food storage as well. It pays to be divers in your food storage. Emergencies and disasters come in all types and varieties and so should your food preps. Some emergencies will leave you with good shelter and utilities. Others will leave you homeless…

“I’d never abandon you” for love and friendship prompts, please!
[this is gonna be a part two to last week’s prompt so you might wanna check that one out first !]
Tumblr media
“I’d never abandon you.”
Tumblr media
“Mommy, do they have ice cream in Brooklyn?”
Amanda wiped a bead of sweat from her brow as she fit the last of what she possibly could into the open box in front of her before sealing it shut with packing tape. Biting her tongue, she contained a frustrated huff in response to her daughter’s question. She had been through almost two hours worth of Jesse continuously asking if their neighboring borough had anything and everything that came to mind, and it was admittedly getting exhausting.
But instead of snapping at the little girl who she knew was merely curious, or even implying that she wanted — needed — her to just stop talking for a minute, she swallowed all of her frustration back and put on a smile.
“Yeah, Jess. They do,” she told her, adding a playfully dramatic inflection to her voice when she continued. “And it’s really good.”
“Really really good?”
“Better.”
When Amanda set up a new, empty box closer to the kitchen, Jesse followed. Seeming to lose focus on the previous topic, the little girl moved over to the window to stand on her toes and peek out to the streets beneath them.
“I’m bored,” she declared. It wasn’t difficult to tell, anyway. Had she not been, Amanda figured she’d be asking about half as many questions. “Where’s Uncle Sonny?”
“Working,” Amanda responded, taking a distracted glance over to the clock.
In Jesse’s defense, he had told her a few days prior that he was clocking out early and would be there before dinner time. Now that the sun was starting to dip below the tops of the buildings surrounding her apartment, she almost found herself wondering the same thing.
“Why’s he working?” Jesse prodded.
“Because he needs to make money.”
“Why?”
“Because grown-ups need their own money for food and a place to live.”
Now leave me alone for five minutes, she thought, but knew she would never have the heart to say aloud. She was a kid, and with nearly all of her toys already packed away and the only other person in the apartment napping, she knew she was getting antsy.
“Okay,” she agreed easily. Almost too easily, Amanda thought. “I’m gonna see if Billie’s awake now!” Jesse declared, and before her mother could protest the idea of her barging in on the sleeping baby, she was already thundering down the empty hallway.
“Jesse!”
Before she could shout anything after her that she’d regret as soon as it left the confines of her thoughts, however, she finally heard someone outside the door. And when she saw the stacks of board games, coloring books, and crayons in Carisi’s arms once he nudged the door open, she let out a long breath of relief.
“Hey…there you are,” she commented with a small smile. “I was startin’ to think you were gonna leave me high and dry.”
“C’mon,” he scoffed playfully. “I’d never abandon you. Just wanted to stop and grab a few things. Figured the girls could use a distraction or two.”
If only he knew.
“You have no idea,” she deadpanned in response.
“That bad, huh?”
“We were about one ‘why?’ away from me askin’ you to bring over a bottle of scotch. And a funnel.”
He set everything down where the coffee table used to be with a chuckle, and when he joined her by the box she’d been busy packing, she paused to greet him with a fleeting kiss.
It was only then, when she truly allowed herself to be distracted from her task at hand, that she realized how barren the familiar apartment actually looked. Having most of the big pieces of furniture in storage had made it look empty enough, but now that there were no toys scattered across the floor or framed family photos on the wall, she realized that, not only did it look empty, but it no longer looked like a home.
“This place looks different when it’s empty,” she commented. His arms circled her waist, and she let out a soft sigh with her gaze still fixed over his shoulder. “We’ve been here so long it’s kinda tough to say goodbye.”
“Somethin’ tells me this isn’t just about the apartment.”
Always reading between the lines, she thought. But he wasn’t wrong. She’d been with Manhattan SVU for so long that it practically felt like as much of a home as the apartment itself did. And despite the fact that both Olivia and Fin said they supported her, and that they were happy for her being given this new opportunity, a part of her couldn’t help but feel like she was leaving a piece of her family behind.
It was something she felt as if she needed to do, however. Business and pleasure had become entirely too intertwined, and it had been taking more of a toll on her than she’d realized. Shortly after she’d started at SVU, Fin had warned her never to take the job home with her. That proved not to be as easy when your best friends were your Captain and Sergeant. When you went home at night to the person trying the cases you’d spent all day building.
A part of her wondered if it was selfish to feel the need to cut the cord that attached her work life so closely to her home life, but at the end of the day she knew it was necessary for her longterm wellbeing.
“I was so hard on you when you left and now I’m doing the exact same thing,” she reminded him with a bitter chuckle.
“You weren’t that hard on me.” When she could only roll her eyes with a small, knowing smile in response, he continued. “C’mon, Amanda. They’re offerin’ you a promotion as soon as you pass the sergeant’s exam. Liv gets that. No one woulda passed that up.”
“It’s just…a lot of change at once,” she told him. “For me and the girls. They’re gonna miss seeing you every day.”
Carisi laughed, and she was almost offended until he offered her a playfully knowing smile. “The girls, huh?”
“I might miss it a little bit too,” she said with a smile to match his. “Especially once we’ve all been livin’ strictly on take-out for a few weeks.”
When she could see a brief flicker of sadness cross his eyes, she almost regretted saying anything. He’d been playing it off like nothing was going to change between them — mostly for her sake, she figured — but every now and then she would notice the mask slip. He may have left the squad, but they had always still worked as a team. With her in Brooklyn, working alongside a new squad and a new ADA, she knew it was going to be different. For both of them.
He quickly recovered, however, and leaned down to offer her a reassuring kiss.
“Well you can let the girls know I’ll come over and cook for them whenever they want,” he told her.
“I’ll make sure they get the memo.”
They shared another small smile, and she was sure he could feel the same odd sense of longing behind it that she did when he grasped her shoulder with a gentle firmness to keep her eyes on his.
“I’m not goin’ anywhere, Amanda,” he promised. “I’m always gonna be here when you need me.”
“I know.”
Maybe she wouldn’t have believed it a few years prior, or had it been coming from anyone who wasn’t Sonny Carisi, but she had come to find that trusting that he’d never leave her behind was a hell of a lot easier than she’d originally anticipated. And finally having that sense of security after years of abandonment — from her own father to nearly all of the men she’d dated before him — filled her with an unfamiliar warmth that she never wanted to let go of.
That night, the four little pieces of their makeshift family gathered around the small screen of her laptop to eat pizza directly out of the box and watch a movie on the floor of the empty apartment. And it was different than how they usually spent their nights, but it was good.
And maybe, Amanda considered, that was the beauty of change.

The reason is that it is far more easy to gauge the vitamin content of fruit than to measure in case one is fitter. As a way to quantify healthiness, one would need to have a group of individuals ingesting just organic and just another one eating only normal foodstuff, then after a little few years compare that group is fitter (this sort of scientific tests have been discussed in greater detail further below). people keep asking me questions... my plans now, my plans in future... people keep communicating with me in any way...
anyway I do actually want to outline my plans, so
Next Saturday I'm moving,
Water company has contacted me already, connected with electricity company and will call them if they don't call me first on Monday. Will ask them about gas, because apparently that's through them? Might ask them about hot water, just to be sure. Not bothering with internet. Not just yet, anyway.
I can take the bedframe in my car, electricity won't connect until Monday, dad offered to buy a fridge (!!), not sure how that needs to be transported - though l will need movers to help with the mattress anyway - then crockery, pots, things to cook with, I'll need a microwave early on because I do intend to cook in batches and reheat servings, I'll need a bin for goodness sake, I will need so much fucking stuff, I'll need dishwashing stuff and spices and sugar and toothpaste and soap and things, working on that list; washing machine would be up next - I could laundromat or take laundry home in interim but look, I think I will just get it in the first or second week - dryer isn't a priority because one CAN air dry but I'm a bit precious especially in winter so YEAH dryer early on, what else: a table, not a priority but it'd be sad to consider a table a "luxury", but unlike most other things on this list I can trust a secondhand table right, also amongst my family tables are apparent abundant in storage. Ok.
That's the overview of moving. Can't express the amount of things I will simply need to acquire. Because I don't own much in terms of practical things. I have a bed, a chair, a desk, 4 bowls, 6 teaspoons with "Bri" engraved on the handle, and towels. I'll also take: Monday (the scythe), my bike, some musical equipment (electric bass, electric guitar, amps; I could go all out and take the electric drum pad, the keyboard, maybe the fucking glockenspiel, because yes I do own a fucking glockenspiel).
Next up in the plans is looking for a second job, immediately, because yeah my income doesn't cover all the expenses I will have and after *points at previous paragraphs* getting everything my savings won't exactly be the reassuring force they are right now. But wait, there's more spending, because I'm suspecting that before I get another job I'll do a barista day course, mostly because despite working AS a barista I'd be embarrassed to rock up to a cafe interview and find that to REAL baristas I'm doing it badly.
(Worth noting here that my buddy who is also my coworker is starting back at uni midyear, and depending on how his schedule works out he may have me covering a bit. I don't want to work more than the current 3 days per week AT my current job, but, until I have other options I will not be so fussy)
Depending on how successful or unsuccessful a job hunt is I may in fact do a few more day courses, because package deals exist for coffee art, RSA, food safety handling 1 courses. A nice boost to a resume and more importantly I do just want to know that stuff. But. This potential course stuff would probably take place in a precarious space between "spending all my money" and "needing the second job" so we'll see.
And then...
Guess I'll live for a bit. I only really need 1 more day of work per week to cover rent and living expenses without using savings. I'd be safer with 2 though. And 3 would be ok. So. I'll live for a bit. Working and living. Learn the bass for real this time because what else am I going to do in my loner house with no internet. Etc.
And, if/when I'm earning enough to save anything again, then, I'll save. Try to not only not die, but in fact also have a nice fucking time, yeah.
I've realised too late that I probably want new sheets and a doona that's not shit, so I won't get those but they'll be a long term goal lol, I can't see it happening though because that's like, a "luxury" and I'll have my longterm band goals to save for and things. Maybe I can ask about a new doona for my birthday way out in September and like for Christmas, lol.
This is all gonna be so much. It's gonna to be a weird time. I'm going to be like, a hermit, I reckon (I mean May I'm considering a "control" month to get an idea of all the base expenses of living so that really will be a hermit month). And then I'm going to live a painfully normal (normie) life and I will still do art lol but any aspirations I have to better the world - aside from brightening people's days with coffee and polite charm ;> - will I guess have to wait and see how I survive and get the fuck through things and what opportunities come my way and so on. I've straight up wasted my time already lol but I feel more hmm capable of doing Good and things if I'm independent and not like, coasting, so anyway dinner time bye

How to Treat Menopause Naturally: 6 Essentials to Know
Treating menopause naturally and practically “symptom free” is not only possible,  it’s how women experienced menopause for hundreds of years, prior to hot flashes and headaches most women get now. Here are 6 essentials to know about menopause and how to treat menopause naturally.
Menopause 101
Peri-menopause and menopause, which span the 40s and 50s, are normal events in a woman’s life when a woman experiences shifts in her hormonal balance.
Menopause is defined as a “lack of period for 12-months or more, in a woman who over age 40.” Peri-menopause entails the years leading up to menopause—a time of hormonal imbalance, when the production of sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) begin to decline.
The average age of menopause onset is 51 years. However, this isn’t the case for everyone. The menopausal age of a woman’s own mother is often the best predictor and indicator of their own. For some women, this means older, for others, menopause can happen a little younger. Moreover, the perimenopausal (i.e. before menopause) years—-anywhere from age 35 to 55, is typically when many women begin to see their bodies and hormones become “imbalanced.”
Menopause Symptoms
Unfortunately, menopause and peri-menopause are often (negatively) associated with a wide array of “unpleasant symptoms” including:
Hot flashes
Night sweats
Weight and body fat gain
Slowed metabolism
Brain fog
Waking insomnia
Mood swings
Vaginal dryness
Decreased libido.
  Menopause Paradigm Shift
However, menopause and peri-menopause does NOT have to mean any of these symptoms—(at least to the intensity and degree that approximately 75 to 90-percent of women experience them). Menopause can actually feel like a “liberating” experience of never having to buy tampons again, while feeling proud and aging gracefully into the next stage of womanhood– especially if you know these 6 Things Every Woman Should Know About Hormone Imbalances & Menopause.
6 Things Every Woman Should Know About Hormone Imbalances & Menopause
1. (Some) Hormonal Imbalance is Normal
During the menopausal years, the production of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone naturally decrease—a normal hormonal imbalance that comes as a right of passage with age.
Concurrently during these years, a woman’s metabolic rate and bone density naturally decreases and body fat naturally increases (other normal biological“imbalances” that are actually not directly due to menopause itself).
While most women blame body fat, weight gain and other frustrations they have with their bodies on menopause, many health experts and research studies  agree that a majority of the “menopause symptoms” are actually more likely related to normal, natural shifts in metabolism that come with age, and other lifestyle factors.
The bottom line:
“Menopause symptoms” and “hormone imbalances” point back to imbalances in OTHER areas of your health and lifestyle, instead of menopause itself—many of these within your control, including:
Your nutrition
Emotional and mental health
Quality sleep 7-9 hours each night
Stress
Toxin exposure (beauty products, plastics, cleaning supplies)
Exercise
Caffeine and sugar consumption
  2. Stress is the #1 Driver Menopause
During the peri-menopausal and menopausal years, the production of sex hormones shifts from the ovaries to the adrenal glands (the same glands also responsible for producing and balancing cortisol, your stress hormone).
Cortisol is necessary for helping us combat stress when we need it most (like a tough workout or getting us through the day after 5 hours of sleep one night). However, when our lifestyles demand too much cortisol daily to fight off stress ON TOP of the elevated cortisol from our hormone shifts, then, Houston, we have a problem.
In short, the more stressful our lives and our bodies, the MORE stressed out our hormones (and the MORE menopause symptoms).Stress goes far beyond mental stress too.
Common daily stressors that work against hormonal imbalance include:
Dieting and under-eating
Sedentary lifestyles OR overtraining
Lack of fresh air and nature
Lack of social connections
Poor quality foods
Environmental toxins (plastics, beauty and cleaning products)
Lack of water
High coffee/caffeine or sugar/sweetener consumption
Low fat, low protein or too-low-carb diets
The bottom line:
Stress is the number one driver of hormonal imbalances and the intensity of menopausal symptoms women experience in their 40’s and 50s.
3. The Gut is the Gateway to (Hormonal) Health
The gut is the gateway to (hormonal) health.
Think about it: Every single cell in a woman’s body is nourished, fed and supported by what goes into the gut. In addition, the gut is an epicenter of hormone production (in fact, the gut is now being termed an “endocrine organ”). If we have a weak foundation in our gut (i.e.  “leaky” gut, bacterial overgrowth, low stomach acid, parasites, etc.), then the rest of our body takes a hit–cortisol and hormone levels included.
Even if you do eat “healthy,” if you have an underlying gut imbalance or you are not supporting the health of your gut as a whole, then your body is simply not going to absorb and digest the foods you eat (for hormone health).
Unfortunately, much of conventional medicine is built upon the replacement model (simply replacing hormones or treating hormone imbalances with hormone replacement drugs and therapies) BEFORE looking into the reasons why hormones are significantly out of balance in the first place.
For some women, gut testing (SIBO, stool, organic acids, etc,) can be a game changer in understanding why their hormone imbalances may be more “out of control.” For others, simple implementation of a basic digestive support protocol can be “game changing” to minimize or lessen any compounded stress.
The bottom line:
A common reason why women experience menopause symptoms (i.e. unwanted weight gain, headaches, brain fog, blood sugar imbalance, insulin resistance, etc.)  goes back to the gut.
4. Your Liver Needs Love (During Menopause)
The liver is your detoxifying organ responsible for controlling the flushing and balancing of hormones in your body.
The metabolism of estrogen itself takes place primarily in the liver through Phase I (hydroxylation) and Phase II (methylation and glucuronidation) pathways.  These allow the estrogen to be detoxified and removed from the body.
However, if estrogen is UNABLE to be detoxified (due to a sluggish digestion, gut imbalances or liver dysfunction), excess estrogen accumulates in the body can cause many of the unpleasant symptoms of menopause (weight gain, mood swing, temperature changes, etc.).
How does your liver “get unhealthy?”
There is typically no single one reason. Some common stressors that take a toll on your liver and body’s ability to detoxify include:
Longterm medication use (birthcontrol, prescription meds, NSAIDS)
High alcohol consumption
Low-fat diets
Packaged and processed foods
Mold exposure
Non-organic food sources, conventional meats, fish with heavy-metals and conventional dairy
Exposure to environmental toxins (plastics, cleaning and hygiene products)
Poor quality, contaminated water
  The bottom line:
Love your liver during menopause to balance hormone imbalances.
Liver Health Boosters
Eat leafy greens, healthy fats and cholesterol (especially pastured egg yolks, coconut oil and ghee/grassfed butter), fresh herbs, plenty of fruits and vegetables;
Drink Dandelion tea
Sip 1 cup bone broth daily
Replace toxic plastics with stainless steel and glass
Overhaul your cleaning and beauty supplies with eco-friendly versions
Drink clean filtered water (not tap)
Decrease alcohol intake to 1 to 2 glasses/week
Limit coffee to 1 cup organic coffee/daily
Eat organic organ meats 1-2 times per week
Consider some liver-boosting supplements (Fermented Cod Liver Oil and/or Liver Capsules, Ox Bile with meals)
Drink warm lemon water with a pinch of sea salt every morning
5. Balance Blood Sugar to Feel Balanced All Around
Increased abdominal fat and weight gain, experienced by nearly 90-percent of women during menopause, are directly connected to blood sugar “imbalances” or “insulin resistance.”
Your blood sugar levels are responsible for giving you stable energy and a feeling of overall body balance throughout the day.  Roller-coaster like blood sugar levels (i.e. high or low), on the other hand, bring about many of the same symptoms associated with menopause (Mood swings, headaches, shakiness before meals, sugar or caffeine cravings, fatigue, weight gain and body fat retention).
Insulin is a hormone that is responsible for controlling your blood sugar balance—acting like a director for how your body uses the food you eat. Insulin ensures that the “just right” amount of glucose (i.e. sugar) and energy (i.e. food you eat) is in your blood at any one time. However, if you we have TOO MUCH insulin circulating in the body at once (insulin resistance), fat storage and menopause-like “symptoms” of blood sugar imbalances happen (headaches, mood swings, hungry, sugar cravings, low energy dips).
“How does insulin resistance occur in the first place?
Answer: Imbalanced nutrition, poor gut health and elevated cortisol (stress) levels.
You don’t necessarily need to eat Hershey’s candy bars or donuts every day for breakfast to experience insulin resistance. Insulin resistance can happen from:
Imbalanced meals (especially not enough enough proteins and healthy fats)
Undereating
Restrict carbs (too much) and not eating enough fat to support low carb intake
Underlying gut imbalances—preventing your body from absorbing and using your energy and nutrients
Cortisol imbalances (cortisol feeds off sugar and demands your body needs more of it to survive)
The bottom line:
Insulin resistance and blood sugar imbalances are common during the menopausal years primarily because your body is more sensitive (overall) to the impacts of stress.
6. Be Wary of Hormone Replacement Therapy
Many women experiencing the “negative” side effects of menopause are often told to “just use hormone replacements (HRT) to improve symptoms.”
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT, bioidentical hormones or synthetic hormones) can significantly reduce peri-menopausal symptoms by reducing the extremes sometimes experienced with the decline of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone production.
However, HRT can also make symptoms worse in the long run, especially if the other causes of “hormone imbalance” (i.e. stress and adrenals, gut health, liver and blood sugar) are NOT addressed in the first place.
When you take exogenous hormones (supplemental HRT hormones from outside of your body), the levels of those hormones go up in the bloodstream. In response, your pituitary gland reduces your own internal (natural) production of that hormone.
Now, this may not be much of a problem when you’re actually taking that hormone (since the hormone is coming into your body from outside), but another problem begins to develop behind the scenes: Hormone resistance.
When we have chronically higher levels of hormones in our blood (from HRT), the receptors for our hormones throughout our body get down-regulated.
Thus, the HRT hormones in our blood begin to have a lesser and lesser effect (over time) because our hormone receptors aren’t sensitive to that hormone anymore. Long-term side effects of HRT or “too much” synthetic hormone in our blood are associated with heart disease, stroke, blood clots, breast cancer, and further adrenal (stress) imbalances.
The bottom line:
Lastly, address the roots of hormone imbalance first (gut, stress, liver health), not the symptoms.

Arrested again for no reason...forcibly taken from my house, in which I live alone. (3/8/22)
(3/8/22 - 3/11/22) Another important storage device was stolen from me while I was detained. Gigabytes of data. Another really important storage device was stolen from me in South Carolina, four years ago. There was a lot of material from school on there. Again, gigabytes of data, potential original intellectual property, which people still don’t seem to get is a commodity in the data age (or an edge, which is not an ad). Some of my notebooks and academic material are no longer here. One of my laptops with my writing, artwork, and reference material is missing. I assume that was stolen or given away by my mother, who had me locked up for irresponsible positioning of a space heater and not eating enough food, while I was living alone and fast asleep (in America, this is allowable somehow. I think my mother was forced to either behave this way or view me this way. My family keeps alluding to some harm this is preventing, or some good this is going to work out for, as if this is an actual cold war and not fodder for perhaps software development or some other kind of media production or knowledge base). My suitcase with books, sketchbooks was taken in Ohio. My larger suitcase with even more sketchbooks, books, cloths and other material was taken in Nice, France. My phone with hundreds of my contacts was taken in Willow Grove, PA. My car was broken into twice over the last nine years. I was arrested in New Zealand. I’m treated as if I should know I shouldn’t be making art, even-though no one goes after my alma mater, the school that gave me that degree.
There is a sense that I’m subject to a horrific debilitating longterm blackmail attempt, a paper trail, which attaches itself, as much as possible, to every encounter I have. It feels like the kind of surveillance and abuse this country used to chide other world powers for during the cold war. The idea is that if a person isn’t morally perfect, and can’t prevent himself from contemplating and reflecting on his moral self, or praying, he’ll have to pay some debt to society outside of the official laws of this country. There a sense that someone is closing in on some bad deed that I’m trying to cover up. The damage is irrevocable, especially for someone who has made morality a visible and irreversible part of their life. This constant pressure, the feeling that you may certainly be locked away for a personal moral infraction in tandem with a habitual reaction of succumbing to vices and other deleterious impulses can erode at a unwitting person’s reasonable and functioning fiber (to make a long story short, not to sound like an organ player below during some ceremony, or spiritual moment).
This happens here in Philadelphia. There’s a Lockheed Martin in Beijing, China, so I wouldn’t read too far into this current madness, I mean the mad men that that makes.
