#byler #stranger things #no but why did they need his stand in present doing shoots in the blue while he’s in the yellow that’s my question?…#like why wouldn’t he be wearing yellow like Noah if they just came from a different shoot #also Millie is in the milkshake dress #which means the priority for the time of this shoot was those shots of her getting the milkshake on her #they had like 4 days to film at the rink o mania location #meaning the stand in would not be there unless he had to shoot something and the same applies to Noah #if Noah wasn’t getting paid to be there to actually film he wouldn’t be in costume #basically them having only 4 days means those 4 days were dedicated to only rink o mania shooting #they can film in studio anytime so using precious location time to film elsewhere would be really poor time management and uneccesary #but what I find interesting is it honestly doesn’t look like anyone is on the rink except these guys?#I remember a few TikToks/videos coming from Noah on the rink with his stand in plus Millie #(was it just them all alone with their stand ins at this moment bc they were filming a spoiler filled s5 opener vecna sequence???)#👀👀👀#birthdaygaters chillin #(with fear)

saw a post recently of people complaining about how costuming is never given proper budget/attention anymore which is definitely true for a lot of shows/movies however. um not to bring up willow (2022) again but....

Watching the fallout tv series and like ok its not agonizing but it feels less "faithful" to the games (3 and 4 lets be honest) and more... shackled to them. There's stuff which is recreations of assets from fallout 4 constantly and it just seems lame because everything in games looks the same because they reuse assets, but it does not convey a real world.

Also the power armour also looks like a 'robot' puppetsuit from 20 years ago. The arms are floppy because the actors arms end halfway down.

Its all a little cheap looking and I fully believe that's in part due to to strict adherence to fallout 4 video game aesthetics instead of creating a distinctive visual language that works for live action tv.

People with zero interest in video games could and did watch The Last Of Us. This is more... Halo TV show. Or the Doom movie.

#also the location scouting seems to have consisted of a google search for 'coolest post apocalyptic filming locations'#because so far there's been... several location shoots which are way too instantly recognisable from other tv shows

I’m finally getting ready to bite the bullet and start purchasing stuff for this guy, so I sketched out a couple of different options based on what I would buy/make to see what combination of things I liked best -- and here are the final designs I settled on for Lieutenant of Angband, Annatar, and Zigur!

Some notes, for fun:

I adore all the armored First Age designs of him I’ve seen over the years, but I’ve somehow never been able to get behind the idea of a huge painted eye on his breastplate -- even though it looks extremely badass!! I just can’t picture him wearing his own insignia while serving Melkor (and not because Melkor would not tolerate it or anything; simply out of respect for him). Like, I can see it during the three ages while Melkor was imprisoned, especially if one headcanons that he initially would have been met with some resistance to taking up leadership in the interim and had to prove his worth; but not while Melkor was in Beleriand XD

I’m always torn between plate armor and scale mail for First Age, but I think I’ve finally decided to lean towards scale mail just because he had dragons available to him; I imagine he’d absolutely take advantage of the extremely useful and precious materials at his disposal ethically harvested, of course, they were just scales that shed naturally, they are his babies after all

I know the conventional interpretation of Annatar’s hair is a very pale, bright blond (which I’m guessing Shadow of Mordor has something to do with that), but I’ve always seen him as a warmer, deeper blond, kind of like honey. My version of Annatar has always been heavily influenced by Cedric from W.I.T.C.H.

Zigur I have no deep thoughts on; it’s just my byzantine/gothic heart going WILD XD
