Cairo Prison - InuKag
Sometimes, I write things just for myself, as a little treat. I might write my other favourite scenes here and there. Who knows, eventually I might have enough to string together a whole plot line. But lookie here @elkonigin and @coquinespike - have a little InuKag scene from The Mummy on me. If I ever find where I've put my laptop pen, there may even be some art to go with this.
Kagome swept across the courtyard, her anger making her simmer even hotter under the midday sun. She wasn’t sure who she was more annoyed at – the squat prison Warden for the obviously lecherous looks he was giving her, or Miroku, for lying about where he got the puzzle box. She shivered a little as they passed the gallows, not wanting to think too much about what usually took place here. When the Warden paused for a moment to speak to one of the guards, she rounded on Miroku, her voice a hissing whisper.
“I can’t believe you Miroku! You said that you found that box at a dig in Thebes! And now I find out you stole it from a drunk at the local Casbah! You told me a barefaced lie!”
Miroku looked a little chastened, but then fought back with a winning smile, hooking his arm into hers as they continued across the courtyard.
“That’s a bit harsh, Kagome dear”, he said, patting her hand affectionately. “We were playing cards, a gentleman’s game. I would have won it fair and square if he hadn’t got himself into an altercation. He left it unattended in his pocket. What was I going to do, leave it behind? He probably didn’t even know what it was.”
“You. Lied. To. Me.” Kagome hissed.
“What’s a little white lie between family members, ey?” He tried a winsome smile, which faltered quickly under Kagome’s withering gaze. “I mean, you’re not the only one I lie to old mum. But at least the lies I tell you are pretty ones.”
“That makes it worse! I’m your sister Miroku! Whatever happened to us against the world, together through thick and thin!”
Miroku looked taken aback, even slightly hurt.
“I’m deeply offended. Didn’t I come straight to you with the box? I could have just sold it, but I knew it was something special. And I knew you would be smart enough to recognise that. We both know you’re the one with the brains in this family Kagome dear.” Glancing nervously around, he tugged on her arm, trying to turn her back towards the way they’d just come. “And anyway, I don’t think this is the best place for a lady, so how about we just pop back to-”
Kagome glared at him furiously as he tried to make a run for the door, wrapping her hand around his bicep tightly so he couldn’t get away.
“Stop trying to get out of this Miroku. You can’t sweet talk your way out of this one. Oh, I am absolutely livid! Not only have we lost the most important part of the map, but we have to come here, to this place. You are going to stay here with me and see this through!”
She shuddered a little self-consciously. There were quite a few leering eyes directed towards her, and not all of them were owned by prisoners safely behind bars. Miroku patted her hand again, obviously trying to soothe her, and Kagome straightened her spine.
They’d been through plenty of scrapes together, her and Miroku. They only had each other since their parents died, social outcasts amongst the English elite due to their mother’s Egyptian heritage. She’d barely got Miroku back in one piece after the war, one of his hands shattered by a bullet directly through his palm. She knew it still hurt him, even though he never complained. He’d always been devil may care, even before he was conscripted, but since his return it was like he invited trouble. She was constantly worried about him. This was a chance to find the legendary Hamunaptra together, and there was no way she was going to back down, even if she was more than a little out of her comfort zone here.
Warden Mukotsu came back, his eyes running over her lasciviously, and Kagome lifted her chin in defiance, staring back at him with spirit. She pulled her elbow away from his grasping stubby fingers as he ushered both her and Miroku over to the rusted iron bars surrounding a holding pen. The locked metal door behind it probably led to somewhere unspeakable.
She took a deep breath to steady her nerves. Wasn’t this what she had always wanted? A chance to show that she was not only a scholar, but able to go toe to toe with all the pompous, overstuffed Egyptologists? A chance to put all her knowledge to good use? She could do this.
Clearing her throat in an attempt to make her voice as unaffected as she needed it to be, she turned her attention away from the locked metal door to Warden Mukotsu.
“So, what is this man in prison for?” she asked, attempting an imperious tone. She hoped it wasn’t something horrible, like rape or murder.
The warden preened under her gaze, and she turned her eyes forward again, not wanting to encourage him one iota. He was giving her the creeps. Besides, there was some kind of ruckus going on behind the closed door, yelling, swearing, chains rattling. What on earth was going on back there? Miroku was looking more and more like he was going to bolt, and she pinched his arm viciously to keep him beside her, gratified when he yelped like a little girl.
The warden chuckled, his dark eyes squinting in the hot, midday sun.
“I don’t know what you’re expecting lady, but he’s not human.” He spat derisively on the ground, and Kagome grimaced, tucking the toes of her boots safely back under her long skirt. “He’s a dirty half djinn, with the ears of a jackal. His words cannot be trusted. But I did ask him.”
“And what did he say?” Kagome asked, unsure if she actually wanted the answer to that question. What on earth had Miroku gotten them into this time?
The warden leered at her, before leaving momentarily to handle a disturbance on the other side of the courtyard.
“He said, he was just looking for a good time.”
The metal door burst open with a clang. Four guards dragged a prisoner forwards, their arms and legs wrapped in chains. Despite the handicap, he seemed to be fighting them every step of the way.
His shirt and pants were ragged, his grey, hip length hair matted and oily, hanging in clumped tendrils around his face. Both her and Miroku took a step backwards at the absolute stench that surrounded him. One of the guards walloped him on the head with a truncheon, hard enough for them to hear a solid thump as it connected. Kagome winced in sympathy as it smacked one of his canine ears, blood trickling onto his scalp, and he snarled loudly, baring some very obvious fangs. Another guard beat him again, and the other two kicked him in the back of the knees, forcing him to kneel in front Miroku and Kagome. He grasped the bars in front of him as best he could with his shackled wrists, teeth still bared in anger, amber eyes full of rage.
“This is the person you took the box from?!” Kagome squeaked in surprise, shuffling backwards a tiny step. She’d never seen anyone like him before, and the scholar in her was already wanting to know more. Why did he have dogs ears and fangs? He had slitted pupils like a cat – could he see things human eyes couldn’t? Where had he come from? Did he speak English or Arabic? Or some other language she had no knowledge of?
“Shush, not so loud,” muttered Miroku from the corner of his mouth, turning his face away from the prisoner kneeling in front of them.
“Who are you?” the prisoner demanded, looking Miroku up and down, then turning his eyes almost immediately towards Kagome, as if he’d judged Miroku’s worth and found him lacking. “Who’s the wench?”
“Wench!?” Kagome sputtered, mouth opening and closing like a goldfish. The sudden smirk on the prisoners face, and the accompanying glint in his inhuman amber eyes, made her want to slap him. She’d been feeling a little sorry for him after witnessing his treatment at the hands of the guards a moment before, but now she was seething.
“Ah, hello my good man,” smiled Miroku, pushing Kagome a little behind himself. “I’m just a humble local missionary, visiting the prison to save the souls of unfortunates such as yourself…” He faltered a little as he watched the prisoner ignore him, picking at his teeth with the very pointed, and probably very sharp, claw on his little finger. He dragged a reluctant Kagome forward. “And this here is my younger sister, Kagome.”
“How do you do?” said Kagome, attempting a cordial tone, then stiffening as the prisoner looked her up and down.
“Tch. Well, I guess she’s not a total loss.” He turned his head away.
“Excuse me!” said Kagome, tapping her foot at a rapid pace on the dirt, in an attempt to mitigate the burst of anger that was beginning to rise at this man’s attitude. “Excuse me, Mr…”
“Inuyasha. Just Inuyasha.”
Kagome nodded, and tried her best to smile winningly at him. “Inuyasha then.” She made the tone of her voice as warm as possible, speaking slowly and carefully, her expression coy. “You see, my brother and I found a puzzle box that we believe you might be able to help us with.”
“Bullshit.”
“I beg your pardon!?” she exclaimed. Both Miroku and Inuyasha winced at her loud and high pitched tone of indignation.
“I smell bullshit,” Inuyasha repeated gruffly. “We both know you didn’t come here to dirty your pretty little shoes in this hellhole to ask me about some box, lady. You and this stuffed shirt came here to ask me about Hamunaptra, am I right?”
Both Kagome and Miroku’s eyes widened in surprise. They both looked around nervously, hoping the guards hadn’t heard anything, and moved a little closer to the bars.
“How do you know the box has anything to do with Hamunaptra?” asked Kagome, barely able to keep the excitement out of her voice. Now they were getting somewhere!
“Because that’s where I found it.”
Miroku leaned forward, his voice a little suspicious.
“How can we believe anything someone like you would say?”
“Wait, do I know you?”
Miroku gave a nervous chuckle.
“Oh no, I don’t believe- “
Inuyasha’s nose twitched slightly, and then his eyes widened in recognition. He glowered at Miroku.
“You!”
Before Miroku could even think about taking a step backwards, Inuyasha’s fist shot forwards, catching Miroku on the chin. Even hampered as Inuyasha was by the chains, as soon as the blow connected, Miroku was laid out cold. One of the guards whacked his already bleeding ear again, hard, forcing his forehead to bounce off the metal bars in front of him.
“Hey, watch it, fucker!”
Kagome looked down at Miroku, laying prone at her feet, then delicately raised her skirt a little as she stepped over him to get closer to the bars, her eyes full of excitement.
“You were actually at Hamunaptra?” she asked, her voice full of wonder. Inuyasha stared at her in amazement.
“Don’t you care that I just decked your brother?”
She waved a placating hand at him.
“Oh, he’s had worse, I’m sure he’ll be fine in a moment. But Hamunaptra! You were actually there?!”
She watched as Inuyasha’s amazement changed into a lazy grin.
“Yeah wench, I was there.”
She was so excited that she hardly noticed what he called her.
“You were there? Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it!” Her eyes narrowed a little in suspicion, and she moved even closer. “Do you swear?”
The lazy grin grew wider, a pointed fang lowering over his cracked lower lip.
“Every damn day.”
Kagome scoffed.
“That’s not what I meant, and you know it.”
The grin was still there, then it dropped away from his face.
“I know what you meant. But I was there alright. Seti's place. The City of The Dead.”
Kagome could hardly contain her excitement.
“What did you see there?”
“A lot of sand.” He almost shuddered. “And a lot of death.”
But Kagome would not be put off now. Not when she was so close. She could see the warden coming back, and she just had to get this information. She leaned closer to him, taking off her hat to guard their conversation.
“Inuyasha,” she whispered, her tone determined. “Could you tell me how to get there?”
He looked at her, and blinked slowly, his expression nonplussed.
“The exact location,” she wheedled, eyes shining with excitement, “pretty please?”
“You really wanna know?” he asked.
“Yes!”
“You really, really wanna know?”
“Yes, yes, more than anything!” she said, almost bursting with nervous excitement.
He beckoned her closer, gesturing with one pointed finger.
“C’mere then.”
She was now almost nose to nose with him, ears straining, eyes wide, ready to commit anything he might say to memory so she could write it down as soon as a pen and paper were handy. If only she’d bought one of her notebooks with her! But before she knew it, one of Inuyasha’s hands shot out, not to punch her as he had Miroku, but grab her chin firmly. And then his chapped lips were planted firmly against hers.
Before she had a chance to register anything more than shocked astonishment at receiving her very first kiss in such a manner, the lips were dragged away.
“You wanna know so bad? Then get me the fuck outta here lady!”
She watched as all four guards rained blows down on his head, dragging him backwards. She heard the warden laughing maliciously behind her.
“Wait, wait, I’m not done talking to him yet! Where are they taking him?”
“To be hanged.”
“Why?” Kagome gasped, her shock at this sudden turn of events evident. She grimaced at the wide grin Warden Mukotsu gave her.
“Apparently, he had a very good time.”
Kagome hurried after Mukotsu, almost tripping over Miroku as she strove to keep with the warden.
They climbed a set of stairs to a balcony overlooking the whole courtyard, Mukotsu sitting down to watch the show, while Kagome hovered anxiously, fingers tapping nervously on the balcony railing. She watched as Inuyasha was dragged up the stairs to the gallows. Other prisoners hollered and jeered as the noose was roughly forced over his head, then cinched tightly around his throat. He made direct eye contact with her, his expression stoic. What could she do? Suddenly she had a brain wave, turning to address the warden.
“What if I offered you one hundred pounds to secure his release?”
The warden shrugged, noisily snacking on a plate of dates on a small table at his side. Juice and spittle ran down his chin as he answered.
“I would pay one hundred to see him hang,” he replied, his eyes fixed on the gallows below.
“Two hundred pounds, then,” she bargained, eyes darting back and forth between Inuyasha and the warden, who ignored her totally. He stood for a moment, bellowing down to the guards below.
“Proceed!”
“Three hundred pounds!” Kagome said desperately. She could tell Inuyasha could hear their conversation even over the dreadful noise of the screaming prisoners, his ears twitched in their direction. She looked back towards him and saw him nod at her, as if to say, keep it going. The yelling suddenly grew quiet as the hangman addressed Inuyasha.
“Any last requests, dog?” he sneered, spitting on the trapdoor near Inuyasha’s feet.
Inuyasha pretended to look thoughtful for a moment, then spat his reply.
“Yeah, I'd like ya to let me go.”
The Hangman grabbed the lever to the trapdoor with a leering grin.
“FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS!” yelled Kagome, sitting down on the seat next to the Warden, her eyes pleading, then recoiled as he set his greasy, lecherous hand high on her thigh, fingers grabbing hard enough to bruise.
“Anything additional to offer?”
Before she could think, Kagome slapped his hand in revulsion, then gasped as Warden Mukotsu angrily turned and gestured to the Hangman. The trapdoor dropped away with loud bang.
“Oh no!”
She watched, horrified as Inuyasha dropped through the hole, his body jerking as the rope pulled taut. She wanted to look away, but couldn’t. His legs kicked wildly, then stopped, and for a moment, she thought all was lost. The rope spun him lazily around to face her again, and she realised he was still alive.
“Ha! His neck did not break! Good! Now we watch him strangle to death,” jeered the Mukotsu, stuffing another date into his mouth.
Angry chanting began amongst the prisoners, and the guards shouldered their guns nervously. Kagome could see Miroku climbing the steps, staggering a little, but she didn’t have time to help him right now. Not when a man’s life and finding Hamunaptra was at stake. She leaned towards the Warden.
“He knows the location to Hamunaptra”, she whispered urgently.
Warden Mukotsu’s head jerked toward her, his expression incredulous.
“You lie.”
“I would never!”
She glanced back towards the gallows. At the end of the rope, Inuyasha was making horrible choking and gagging sounds, his face a grotesquely mottled shade of red. She had to hurry!
The Warden eyed her suspiciously, wiping date juice off the corner of his mouth with a dirty sleeve.
“Are you saying this filthy godless son of a dog knows where to find The City of The Dead? Truly?”
“Yes, and if you cut him down, we will give you ten percent,” she said quickly, hoping that this would work. Inuyasha didn’t look like he had much time left.
“Fifty percent.”
She hesitated a moment, glancing back to Inuyasha, and watched his eyes widen at her incredulously at her bargaining. She quickly turned her eyes back to the Warden.
“Twenty.”
“Forty.”
Kagome hesitated again, biting her lip. Inuyasha’s eyes were looking up at her, almost bulging out of his head, like he couldn’t believe her.
“Give .... give him .... give him,” he coughed.
Under pressure, Kagome shrieked, “Twenty-five percent, and not one single farthing more!”
The Warden leered at her, then yelled down to the hangman. The sunlight bounced off the scimitar in his hands as he swung, cutting the rope, sending Inuyasha plummeting to the ground. His bound hands scrabbled in the dirt as he fought to get himself onto his knees, coughing and wheezing, taking deep breaths. His bloodshot eyes looked up towards the balcony.
Miroku finally made it up the stairs, leaning against the railing with a groan.
“So, how’d we do old mum? Did we win?” he asked, looking with some distaste at the leering grin of the Warden, then down into the courtyard at Inuyasha, who was still on his knees.
Kagome smiled broadly, and waved down at Inuyasha, who glowered at her.
“Yes Miroku, I do believe this visit was a success,” she said, excitement bubbling up. They were going to Hamunaptra!
“Jolly good show,” replied Miroku, gently fingering the darkening bruise on his chin.

Inuvember 2023 Part 1
In honor of @inuvember InuKag Day, the Archive Mods have put together a 30 item InuKag recommendation list: one InuKag fic per prompt. Since this list is longer than our usual, we've split it into two parts. Enjoy!
Day 1 Inuyasha
I Hate That Fucking Well by @kstewdeux (M)
Post-manga. Inuyasha POV. Inuyasha's inner thoughts and monologues. Rated M for fucking language
Day 2 Kagome
Cinnamon Hearts by @fandomobsessions016 (M)
"So, you may be wondering, what’s this story about anyway? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s about how this queen, almost lost her crown, her throne, but worst of all… it’s about how this queen almost lost her king…
Hindsight, of course, has perfect vision, but at the time I did not. I was a girl becoming a woman who fought bitterly against change that was inevitable. I didn’t want to open my eyes. I didn’t want to see what was right in front of me.
What I wanted more than anything was to keep Inuyasha.
High school forced my eyes open, tested our “unshakable” bond and made me confront my biggest fear. All because…
I caught feelings for my best friend.
I like-liked my king."
Day 3 Sango
Forever Home by KittyKatz (M)
How long had he roamed the earth in a form that was not his? Beaten, dirty and caged, he finds one last bit of fortune when she comes to rescue him from this place. But his road to redemption will not be easy. And he will find, that no matter how the world has changed, his old enemy remains. And this time, they plan to destroy him once and for all.
Day 4 Miroku
Under the Northern Lights by @lostinfantasyworlds (E)
Kagome Higurashi has her dream job, working as a photographer for the internationally well-known Yugen magazine. Her career whisks her all around the world, leaving her feeling lonely sometimes but mostly just incredibly grateful to be doing what she loves. When she gets assigned to Alaska for a month to photograph a series of celestial events, she runs into Inuyasha, a half-demon who lives on his own in the middle of nowhere. A mutual attraction draws them to each other, but Kagome's time there is limited. Will giving in to their desire lead to love or heartbreak?
Day 5 Shippo
Oh, But You're Good To Me by @witchygirl99 (E)
It’s a terrible photo, really. The action figure takes up the entire bottom of the screen and part of both of their faces. Shippo’s giggling though, eyes shut and crinkled in his mirth while Inuyasha looks at him. His expression is clearly fond. It’s the softest Inuyasha has ever, ever seen himself.
This is fatherhood, he thinks a little wildly.
He sends the photo to Kagome.
Inuyasha is a single father. Shippo is his adopted son. Kagome isn't supposed to be in the picture, but somehow, she returns anyways. A story about family, love, and all of its obstacles.
Day 6 Sesshomaru
Whispers in the Wind by @ruddcatha (G)
It has been 500 years since Kagome jumped back down the well to be with Inuyasha. A messenger waits to see her family, and is joined by a surprising guest.
Day 7 Rin
My Life Before You by @len-barboza (E) -- based on a story by Mizune-mei
No English language summary provided.
Day 8 Kikyou
Stolen Soul by Kimberly-A (T)
COMPLETE Kikyo uses a spell to exchange bodies with Kagome, leaving Kagome stuck in the dead shell and Kikyo comfortably human. In the aftermath, Inu-Yasha faces difficult choices. InuKag, not very Kikyo-friendly.
Day 9 Koga
A New Moon, A New Start by @pinestripes (T)
Kouga visits the village near the Sacred Tree. On this particular evening, he finds that a certain half-demon is more on edge than usual.
Day 10 Kagura
The Portal Between Worlds by @neutronstarship (E)
Ten years ago, a portal transported Inuyasha from the demon realm to the human realm. Now a half-demon alone in a world he doesn't understand, he will do anything to get home. When Onigumo brings him a book with all the answers, Inuyasha pushes aside his misgivings and works with the man. He just wants to get home, after all.
Kagome just wants to make an extra buck (and find demons), much to Kikyo’s chagrin. That is why she published Demons Among Us! after all. But strange things start happening when she puts the book online. As if people are using it to open the portals that it hypothesized… When Kagura and Sango join the fray, the stakes grow higher as they try to find the source of the portals.
When Inuyasha encounters Kagome, fate is not what it seems. Not one, but two realms are in danger for their survival. What happens when the final portal opens and an unknowable terror is unleashed? Can the Demon Hunters save the world?
Day 11 Naraku
You Rescued Me by @keizfanfiction (E)
Maybe it was fate that he decided to take the back way home that night, but whatever the reason, Inuyasha was grateful for arriving just in the nick of time to rescue a waif of a woman who had clearly been through hell. He never would have imagined that she would end up rescuing him, too.
Day 12 Band of Seven
Delicate by @akitokihojo (T)
To trust someone, to let them in, what an unsettling ordeal. Kagome is easy and safe, and Inuyasha is difficult and guarded. She can put him at ease with a smile, simultaneously setting him on edge. It was nothing until it was something, creating absolute chaos and uncertainty within the both of them.
Day 13 Jinenji/ Shiori
How Does Your Garden Grow? by @dawnrider (M)
An Ingary-esque AU: Kagome, the newest generation of caretakers of the Higurashi House, finally starts to feel like her garden and business is thriving with the help of her friend Jinenji. Their routine is thrown off by the arrival of an injured visitor who does not want to be found...
Day 14 Toga
Taisho School of Acting: A Quick Guide by @jeremymarsh (G)
“Excuse me, what?” Kagome looked at her best friend with eyes as big as saucers, lips parted, and her mind replaying what he had said a moment before – trying to find a sense but to no avail. “You heard me.” Inuyasha scowled, looking down, arms crossed and lips pouting, just like he did every time he didn’t like the topic at hand. The problem was he had started it this time. “Yeah, I did.” Kagome shook her head and inhaled deeply before she continued. “And that’s why I’m asking you to repeat yourself since I’m having problems believing that certain sentences left your mouth.” “I said,” Inuyasha started through clenched teeth, still not meeting her gaze, “come to my family Christmas dinner this Sunday.” He stopped, ran a hand through his silver mane, closed his eyes, murmured something unintelligible and then added: “As my girlfriend.”
Where Inuyasha tries to fool his parents and miserably fails.
Day 15 Izayoi

Mistlewoes (rating, G)
A lil InuKag Christmas drabble for you lovely folks. Sorry it's so short, I've been a little dry on the motivation, lately! Thanks to @nukawin for the prompt, here. ~*~*~*~*~
Inuyasha didn't know how this could have happened... Had he not been diligent enough? Had he missed something that only existed in Kagome's time? Something so subtle it had slipped past him? What a conniving and dangerous world she lived in!
All these thoughts and more shot through the hanyou's head as he faced down the giant bear that was currently roaring and standing taller to try and intimidate him away. He already had procured several herbs from Kaede and was working on the meat and organs.
This had all started when he overheard Kagome's family talking. Something about getting a tree for some disease. He forgot the name, but it had to do with toes.
He struck down the bear, harvesting everything he could before he moved on.
Dammit, how could he have let Kagome's toes get sick?! Or was it some kind of possession? Maybe he'd have to fight, after all. Hmmm... Well if this method didn't work, he'd try that. Lugging his haul towards the Well, Inuyasha stewed in his worry.
“Inuyasha-kun! My, what's all this?” Mrs. Higurashi looked shocked at his cargo when he made his way into the house.
“I heard Kagome was sick, so I brought some stuff to make her better. Is she in her room?”
“Sick? She never told me anything about that.” The woman looked even more alarmed.
Now Inuyasha was really confused. “I heard you and the old man talking about it and you said a tree would help bring it out of her toe? I got more stuff just to help her recover, though.”
Mrs. Higurashi seemed to realize something and lifted a hand to stifle her laughter. “Oh, that's sweet of you, dear. I'm sure Kagome will appreciate it. She'll be down soon, she's in the bath at the moment.”
He nodded. The warm water would probably make her feel better, as well. He moved to deposit his pack of items when something stopped him in his tracks. “Holy hell, is that the tree?!”
“Yes, it's called a Christmas Tree. We get one and decorate it every year around this time.”
Inuyasha gaped. “So this happens a lot? Is it a curse, then?! Is that why you have those weird shiny shimenawa ropes and shikigami all over it?”
Mrs. Higurashi hummed in thought, seeming to debate how to explain something to him. But Kagome chose that moment to come downstairs.
“Inuyasha? Why are you here?”
“Kagome!” he hurried over to her. “You'll feel better soon, I brought some things to help in addition to the tree! How are your toes?”
Kagome only furrowed her brow. “My toes? What are you talking about?”
“I think,” her mother supplied, “that there's been a little mix-up. Inuyasha-kun seems to have overheard me and father discussing our mistletoe.”
Kagome's mouth formed a small 'o' as she took in his worried expression and the pack of ingredients behind him. Luckily she couldn't quite see the viscera from there. She grabbed his hand, confusing him more, and pulled him over to an odd looking plant he'd never seen before. It was hanging near the equally odd tree.
“This is mistletoe, Inuyasha. It's not a sickness, it's for-... Well...”
Her confirmation that she wasn't actually suffering from anything did cause him to relax a bit, but it was quickly replaced by curiosity. She may not be sick, but her cheeks were quickly becoming red. A fever?
“For what?” he asked gently, moving his hand to touch her forehead and check for a temperature, ignoring her embarrassed inhale.
“It's, um... for this.” With that, Kagome stood on her tippy-toes, his hand still on her forehead, and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
It was warm. It was slightly wet. It was soft. It was wonderful. It was... over way too quickly, leaving Inuyasha unable to do anything but stare at her and slowly put his hand back down. She smiled, and even through his shock, he wanted to smile back.
Mrs. Higurashi giggled, the sound breaking both teenagers out of their little trance. Both blushed, but the knowing mother seamlessly moved them on to a new topic. “Would you like to stay for dinner, Inuyasha-kun? After all, you brought such lovely gifts for Kagome and she can explain all about Christmas to you.”
Kagome cleared her throat tactfully. “That sounds... good.”
Inuyasha nodded. “Sure.”
No way in HELL was he leaving until he got to kiss her back! Even if it took all night!

just thinking about a non-HnY plotline in which…
Rin marries Kohaku and they name their firstborn daughter Kagura out of respect for the wind demoness who saved Kohaku’s life…
Sesshoumaru watches over Rin and Kohaku’s family for generations to come… He ends up being an absolute pushover of a grandfather. You think he spoiled Rin? Pffft. Child’s play. You’ll never hear him admit it, but he shows up every month or so with candies, toys, new clothes, etc. from his travels for his adopted grandkids. Maybe Sesshoumaru has never had a “pack” in the traditional inuyokai sense, but he sure as heck has one now. (Don’t worry, he also brings gifts for Inukag’s kids, too.) I feel like his love languages are definitely acts of service + gift giving. Not a big “words of affirmation” guy. Deep down inside, he loves this little (yet growing) pack of humans who run up to him and give him hugs and beg him to take them flying in the sky for a minute…
Understanding that Rin has been used against the both of them as bait in the past, Sesshoumaru (begrudgingly) teams up with Kohaku when he’s in the village to teach her some basic demon-slaying and self-defense techniques when she enters her mid-teen years. (Before Kohaku and Rin are married.) Both males understand that she doesn’t have to be perfect or excel at them (nor does she ever become an expert fighter), but they at least want her to know a few moves in case she ever encounters trouble, you know? We love a cooperative future father/son-in-law relationship.
I also imagine that maybe Kohaku was like… 👀👀 “oh man, she’s cute…!” at Rin when he saw his childhood friend dressed in demon slayer garb for the first time. It’s even funnier to imagine Sesshoumaru, the protective dad he is, being insistent on lowkey chaperoning Rin’s training sessions with him and Kohaku as he watches their blossoming “puppy love” romance play out. He doesn’t want things getting too crazy over there.
There’s more to come on this. I would love to write a little drabble series about a KohRin family and gramps Sesshoumaru… 🤲🏻🤲🏻

Inukag Week 2023: Day 2: Possession
@inukag-week
Day 1  Day 2  Day 3  Day 4  Day 5  Day 6  Day 7
AO3
Fanfiction
It wasn’t until Kagome had met and spent a lot of time with Inuyasha that she realized how lucky she was growing up. Sure, she had known she had a good homelife, a loving family, and a future to look forward to.
Inuyasha had nothing but the clothes on his back and the chips on his shoulder.
The first time Inuyasha curled up and fell asleep on her bed, Kagome wanted to let him stay there forever. He seemed to just melt into the soft comforter, his face relaxing off the harshness that normally sat there. He seemed to just be a normal teenage boy in that moment, rather than the harsh and difficult half-demon he was when he was awake.
If Kagome could have given him that peace for the rest of his life, she would have in a heartbeat.
But as with everything, it came to an end that he was sleeping peacefully and quietly on that bed and the real world came knocking and demanded they return to the quest that engulfed their every moment.
The desire to give him everything didn’t disappear with the morning sun, however.
At some point, Inuyasha had become very comfortable with seizing anything and everything of hers and using to his own means. Sleeping bag? Now his for sitting on when camping outside until she made him get off for her to sleep. Books? A source of entertainment (sometimes kindling) for when he wanted to annoy her. Clothes? Those worked great for drying off or wiping sweat off his face, even if they were still on her body and he was just flat out rubbing his forehead on her. Shoes? Ah, perfect for throwing at the crows that gathered on Kaede’s roof. Fifty-fifty if he got them down without her having to ask him.
Kagome found herself specifically looking for things they could share. He had a favorite pair of chopsticks that once were hers, so she got another set. His long hair required softer elastic band on hair ties, so she got scrunchies and clips for them to use when bathing. He preferred open-mouth water bottles to straws, so she got rid of her original one to get a big one they could share.
There was a time when she would have been mortified at the thought of sharing every single thing in her life, but just like how Inuyasha had melded into her bed that night, they blended together.
What was hers was his, and vice versa.
It was so natural after a while, that not even having it pointed out to them would cause them to blush or deny it.
“Less to carry if we share more.” Kagome had said once to Kaede as Inuyasha chugged the entirety of the very large water jug. “It just makes sense.”
Shippo had all of his own things, so it perhaps didn’t actually make sense. She carried a special water bottle, utensils, pillow, soap, crayons, and just about anything else for the little boy. It was the same for Miroku and Sango, who each had their own designated items in her pack.
It was just Inuyasha that she shared everything with.
Soon physical possessions weren’t just the only thing the two teens shared. Inuyasha started to share her successes at school and joined in on studying with her, despite not finding much use for it. It helped her a lot to have another person to talk to, even if it was just grunting red clad boy who knew nothing about theoretical math.
Miroku had tried to help her study, and he was great for history and religious topics, however laying on her stomach next to a lounging half-demon seemed to be the best way for her to work through math equations.
Tapping his shoulder, Kagome commanded his attention to her homework. “Is that a three or eight?” The dim lighting from the fire prevented her from being able to fully make it out. She could if she scooted closer, but it was more convenient to take advantage of Inuyasha’s better eyesight. He drew an eight in the air with his finger.
“To the power of eight?!” Kagome collapsed onto her arm in exasperation. “How am I supposed to figure that out?”
“Write it out.” Inuyasha had no idea what a power of eight was, but he knew what he was supposed to say when the numbers came out. Mama Higurashi had taught him.
Sighing loudly, Kagome rearranged herself onto her elbows and started writing out the equation. Inuyasha felt a surge of pride at being helpful to her, even if he had no idea how it all worked. He didn’t quite get why she was so certain she needed school, but if it was important to her, it was important to him to.
After all, they shared everything.
Including hopes and dreams, he realized one day when in a heated spat with Miroku over Kagome. He had pressed about their future together, insinuating that they should just hurry up and get married. He and Sango had to wait after all, until the curse was lifted, but no such restrictions were on Kagome and Inuyasha.
Inuyasha had huffed and snarled out, “She wants to go to high school. It’s important to her to graduate.”
Miroku had a blank look cross his face. “What does that mean, exactly?” the monk asked.
Inuyasha felt a sense of embarrassment overcome him. He didn’t know exactly what it meant to graduate. “It means…” he scrambled for words. “…she’s finished her school.”
“What’s next for her?”
Inuyasha wanted to strangle the man walking alongside him to fetch water for Kaede. “She wants to finish school and…” his jaw worked hard as he processed if he wanted to tell Miroku what he knew or what. For some reason, the thought that it might deter further questions. “Have a career and raise dogs. Maybe get married but that’s not important to her.”
Miroku nodded as if he understood. Clearly, he did not. “What is a career?”
“Something you do until you’re old.” Souta’s basic explanation was all he knew of the topic.
“Like being a priestess?” Miroku’s eyes wandered over to look at Inuyasha’s profile. It was bright red.
Inuyasha huffed loudly. Miroku took that as a yes, so he continued to prod. “What’s this about dogs?”
“Dogs are her favorite animal and she wants to have a bunch when she’s older.” Inuyasha answered without thinking. “It’s not common to have a lot of dogs, but with the shrine grounds, she can, so she wants to rescue them from living on the street or bad homes.”
Miroku paused for a moment, calculating his next question. “Like how she rescued you?”
Inuyasha stopped walking suddenly, causing the monk to get just a few paces ahead. Miroku tried to gauge if he had gone a step too far. Inuyasha seemed frozen eyes straight ahead for what felt like forever, and Miroku was just about to tell Inuyasha to forget his comment and change topics when Inuyasha spoke.
“Yeah.”
Miroku finally turned his body to look at his friend and see a softness cross his features. He started walking again forward, quietly whispering, “Except this time, we’re going to do the rescuing together.”
Because, after all, they shared far more than just possessions.

Came up with a dark and twisty, slow burn, strangers to friends to lovers InuKag fic. Here's Inuyasha and Kagome's first meeting below. 😈
The little girl tugged on her hand, almost desperate in her attempt to get to the strange man before her, but she kept a firm grip on the tiny hand, her fear overwhelming any rational thought. Hearing a soft whimper from her, Kagome winced and silently apologized, figuring she was squeezing her hand a little too tight, but Rin refused to let up, repeating over and over that she knew the man, that he was safe.
Figuring she spoke the truth, given that the girl had only been in Kagome’s care for less than days, she released her hold on her, carefully keeping her body hidden behind the tree. Rin dashed forward, crying out and she was scooped up by the silver haired man quicker than she imagined, her sobs crushing Kagome’s heart. At least she will be safe and he will never get her again.
A tiny sigh of relief left her lips, Kagome keeping her gaze trained ahead, in case this man, or the family behind them dared to take her back. What if…… what if they return her back to him? No, I won’t go back! A strange warmth spread through her, as if soul was crying out with her pain. Gripping her cloak tight, she kept her eyes trained on the scene before her.
Rin had climbed down from the man’s hold and he gently guided her to stand with the other children, two twin girls that looked like a perfect mix of the other two. Assuming they were their offspring, Kagome wondered how the silver haired man fit into the whole picture.
“Hey, we’re not gonna hurt ya.” He spoke, his voice soft but kind.
Do not let me fall for their tricks. He could be one of the many dangers Sister Kikyo warned me about.
“Inuyasha, wait.” The other man, the one with indigo eyes and short hair that matched her own, stepped forward, his curious gaze boring into her, as if he was looking through her. “She’s a miko and an untrained powerful one at that.” Miko? What is a miko? The heat within her grew and she could feel her fingertips warming, as if she were holding them over the fire pit a little too close.
“I ain’t gonna hurt her.” The silver haired man, Inuyasha she deemed, snarled.
Oh, kami. He’s not human.
He stepped closer, no denying his cautious movements, but she didn’t dare to move beneath this predator’s gaze. If she ran, he would certainly chase her and bring her back to Naraku without question.
He moved closer, Kagome able to see the gold of his eyes, yet the fear and heat within her grew. Squeezing her palms so tight, she felt her nails dig into her skin, the lash marks on her right hand opening again. She did not dare to move, as the man approached slowly, repeating  softly that she was safe, his frown deepening when Kagome knew her hand was once again bleeding.
“My name is Inuyasha, and these are my friends. Rin is my niece. Thank you for your help in her return” His nose twitched, his eyes searching her form as he stood a mere three feet from her, but her body refused to listen to her. When his eyes focused back on her own, she swore she saw a flash of anger rise, leaving as quickly as she came, the fire dousing her skin morphing into an inferno.
“Inuyasha, she’s going to purify you if you get any closer.” The dark-haired man warned, confusing her. She was not magical, she had no way to hurt this man. Before she could tell him to stay where he was, a whisper of something washed over, causing her own blaze to rise. She blinked and suddenly Inuyasha was flying towards his friends, letting out a loud grunt as he collided on the grass.
Swallowing, she exhaled, shocked to find herself surrounded in a barrier, resembling the one surrounding her village, only this one was a bright pink instead of deep blue. Had she done that to him? No, she was a normal girl.
“Kagome!” Rin cried out, ripping herself from the woman’s hold before rushing towards her. Kneeling down, Kagome held her arms open as the little girl leapt into them, her body trembling as the barrier fell, her refusal to hurt Rin overwhelming. Why am I feeling everything so strongly? It’s like my emotions are enhanced and I can’t control them.
“Kagome, they’re not going to hurt you.”
Kagome shook her head, unable to stop the shivers that racked her body, keeping the humans and non-human in her peripheral, adrenaline pulsing through her veins. She would make sure Rin was safe before she took off on her own, her grip on the girl’s clothing tightening.
“Uncle Yash is my family. I promise you will be safe with him.” Rin pointed as her Uncle Yash nodded, his hardened features softening as she took him. He was powerful and whatever he did to make her react in such a way proved that. Never in her life had Kagaome imagined that she could raise her own barrier. If she had known that, she would never have succumbed to so many punishments.
Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, Rin quieting and she knew that all eyes were on her, waiting for whatever decision she would make. Can I trust them? Could I have his protection from the horrors of my past? Something within her spoke the truth, though she wasn’t sure what that was, but she went with what her soul was telling her to do. Sliding her uninjured hand in Rin’s, Kagome opened her eyes and rose, giving Inuyasha a slight nod.
Slowly walking forward, her body refused to relax, as if it knew the moment she wasn’t safe, she could use every bit of energy she had to run. Rin squeezed her hand, giving her a soft smile as she guided her towards the group.
“Uncle Yash, Uncle Miroku, this is Sister Kagome. She saved me from the bad place.”
Kagome glanced back at the woman and children behind them, finally noticing a small bundle attached strangely to her back, each of them smiling at her.
“Sister Kagome, is it? Please, allow us to guide you to our home so that we may look at your injuries. If you would like that is?” The dark haired man stepped closer, causing her to involuntarily shrink back. His home? Where I could be held against my will?
“No one is going to hurt ya, I swear on my life.” Inuyasha spoke again, her head whirling towards him and something inside her clicked, her soul reaching out for him all on its own. A loud chime rang in her ears, as if someone was ringing the village bell right next to her and all Kagome felt before blackness took over were warm hands around her waist.

🎉Happy New Year!🎉
Tumblr media
For a hot minute, I really didn't think I'd post before my one-year without an update was up, but looks like I made it just in time!
This fic has haunted me for just a little over 2 years and I figured it was time to finish it up and send it off into the world. This story was inspired by Episode 89: "Nursing Battle of the Rival Lovers," specifically that scene in which Inuyasha looks through Kagome's photo album and gets a glimpse into some of the most important moments of her life. I was always fascinated by his expression, and this story was born out of my ideas about what that expression might mean and the thoughts and feelings running through Inuyasha's mind and heart.
Thank you to all my lovely Discord peeps in FC who kept this little dumpster fire going. Without you, I would have sat on this fic for another 2 years! 💙🧡💜
Enjoy!

Summary: They say a picture's worth 1000 words, but Inuyasha worries he won't find the words he's dying to hear in between the pages of Kagome's photo album.
Inspired by the last scene in Episode 89, "Nursing Battle of the Rival Lovers"

Preview below the cut:
Inuyasha was afraid.
No, he thought, shaking his head. That can’t be right.
But there was no mistaking it. There it was again after all this time, that old, familiar apprehension like a heavy fog expanding in his chest, desperately making him want to rip it open to find relief.
Inuyasha never imagined that he could feel this way ever again. Up until now, he’d foolishly believed that he’d been cured of all fear, that nothing could ever scare him again. He’d forced himself to earn that courage, purposefully pinning himself against the vilest of youkai, each one more atrocious than the last. With every one he slayed, Inuyasha felt another drop of fear dissipate until there was none left to feel and he’d finally reached a level of recklessness, one that made looking for fights and endangering his life feel as natural as breathing.
No prior battle could have prepared him to face this enemy. This time he wasn't standing on a battlefield. His body wasn’t positioned in its usual offensive stance with Tessaiga drawn and pointed at the enemy. For the first time in his life, he was up against an enemy he couldn't fight with physical force or whose next move he could predict. This time, he found himself standing on unfamiliar ground in unfamiliar territory.

A new - fluffy, I swear - oneshot! Canon-divergent from episode 18 of the Final Act, because we never got to see what happened after Kagome's family returned home (other than Inuyasha looking ready to spit nails in the background)
Tumblr media
Summary:  Kagome thought she’d missed her chance. Resurrected former girlfriends, a maniac coming out of hiding, a busted gemstone, an overzealous wolf demon, and a group of friends that were too nosy for their own good had a way of making it hard to get time alone.

Inukag 40 ☺️
Coming in at 40 is Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. I'm honestly surprised it's not a little higher on the list, though I've been listening to a bunch of his other songs, so that might be why.
This one ended up being another peek into that Modern AU I keep dabbling in inspired by @heavenin--hell's Inu in a ballcap and a slouchy jacket.
There was so much more to try to shut out in the city. The noise, the smells, the lights… Inuyasha struggled to keep to the building side of the sidewalk in the throngs of people. The performance hall up the road must have just let out and the crowds were pouring out to cover the sidewalks as people went to their cars, the metro… Inuyasha tucked himself into his oversized jacket just a bit more, pulling his hat down over his eyes. He kicked himself for popping out at this time of night when he should have waited for Kagome to get home from her study group. He just wanted to make sure she had something nice to eat when she got back. There hadn’t been much in the apartment, so he’d decided that a trip to the ramen shop down and around the corner was worth it. Mistakes were made. The food in the takeout bag was piping hot against his leg, the scent nearly making his mouth water. But he had to focus hard on it to block out all the smells from the crowd, the street itself, the dumpster in the alley he just passed… Then there were the lights from the bus, the streetlight, and the cars going by. Even with his hat pulled down, the flashing caught his peripheral vision, making him grunt and flinch. He missed the country in moments like this. The stoop to the apartment came into view and the more familiar scents he associated with their building caught his nose. The family on the third floor was making tortillas with the window open. The guy living on the ground floor apartment in the back was frying fish and desperately trying not to set off the smoke alarm. Inuyasha could hear him swearing from his spot on the sidewalk. Most importantly, he could smell Kagome. Looking up, he was a little stunned to find her on the step, waiting for him. Her eyes were worried, but widened then relaxed with relief when she spotted him. He lengthened his stride a little, jostling a few people to get through to the steps and to her. The simple impact of her touch on his arm as she silently greeted him was enough to wash away all the tension in his frame, to calm the agitation and anxiety caused by being out in a crowd of humans from whom he had to hide his presence. She leaned into him as he took her hand, opening the door for them so they could return to their cocoon of safety. As they sat in their tiny kitchen in their tiny one-bedroom apartment, eating their ramen directly out the to-go containers, laughing… Inuyasha was blinded by the glow of Kagome’s smile. The light of the love in her eyes. Maybe the city and its stressors were worth it. For her.

The Things That Couples Do (InuKag; T; complete) by @fawn-eyed-girl
Inuyasha is really annoyed at the thing Kagome wants him to wear from her time. Why does he have to wear a stupid hat, anyway? It’s ugly, and itches, and looks ridiculous.
But then, Kagome confesses the real reason she wants Inuyasha to wear the hat, and maybe the hat’s not such a bad idea, after all.
Through the Years We All Will Be Together (InuKag; T; complete) by emmyyasha (Ao3)
It's Kagome's first Christmas in the Feudal Era and Inuyasha knows how much she is missing her family. It's up to him to bring a little bit of the holiday cheer that she showed him all those years ago back to her and help her feel just a little more at home.

She had never looked more beautiful.
And Inuyasha should know.
For countless moons now, he had seen Kagome in every possible way. Be it wearing her strange modern clothes, his Fire Rate robe or nothing at all, on the rare occasions in which he got blessed enough to accidentally find himself in the presence of her naked form.
He had seen all kinds of emotions grace her face, a few of which he didn’t even have a name for, but something about her made a diligent student out of him, longing to learn.
And he had seen her under the light of a thousand stars — on secret dates that were neither a secret nor would any of them dare to call it a date —, bathed in sunshine, in moonlight, with wind in her hair, wet from the pouring rain, or the shower, or sweat, humidity highlighting the curl of her strands just the way he liked it. He had seen her sleeping, singing, dancing. Crying for his sake, asking to stay by his side. With her cheeks painted a deep scarlet from something stupid he said or a blossoming into a soft pink from something bold he did.
It didn’t matter the occasion, the part of herself Kagome decided to gift him with. Inuyasha was always there to receive it, to carve these little moments on his mind for as long as he lived — the moments Kagome had been so absurdly gorgeous it made his heart ache.
And yet, nothing could compare to the heavenly vision currently beside him.
Inuyasha couldn’t explain why, exactly. In theory, there were hardly any differences between the Kagome standing right there and the one he grew fond of — dressed in her school uniform, bow in hand, remaining arrows safely resting inside her quiver. Except this time she was drained, understandably so. Her face was uncharacteristically dirty and, he most definitely knew, hidden bruises had to be sporting her skin.
Still, Kagome smiled. She smiled like she wasn’t about to pass out from exhaustion. She smiled like it was natural, like she couldn’t help it. She smiled like someone who had just accomplished their life long mission, like after risking everything, giving everything to achieve it, she had finally fulfilled her purpose on this Earth.
She smiled like it was all worth it. And following her line of vision to find an empty handed monk and a jubilant demon slayer, Inuyasha couldn’t deny it was.
But he should never have looked away.
It only took a second, a false sense of security willing him to let his guard down and suddenly he feared the last thing he would ever see from her was that dazzling smile disappearing in favor of sheer panic while his clawed hands reached out to hers and missed by a hair, the meido taking her with no warning, no mercy, the portal that connected their worlds vanishing as well.
Only their bond transcended the very rules of the twist of fate that had brought them together. Nothing could keep Kagome from him. Not time, not space, not destiny itself.
Inuyasha opened a scar on the fabric of the universe and navigated a sea of monsters, only to get to her, only to find her. It was no surprise that he did and it was no surprise that she was waiting for him to come, because the definite truth, the undeniable fact neither Naraku or the sacred jewel seemed to understand, was that Kagome came into this world to be with him and he was born for her as well.
That knowledge culminated into a long time coming kiss, his thoughts consumed by all things Kagome, her sweet taste on his lips, his arms around her, exactly where they belonged. Everything else seemed to have melted away and he wouldn’t have minded staying that way forever, but Kagome had a wish to make.
It sounded fitting that she would be the one to save them all and Inuyasha was relieved to return her to her family like he promised. Kagome ran to her worried sick mother and they hugged tight as she tried to explain what happened.
She barely had the time to thank him before Inuyasha was blinded by the lights. Now he was the one slipping from her fingers. Before they could react, before they could say goodbye, he was forcefully thrown back into his own era.
But he knew, he knew that she would come back to him the same way he went back for her. No matter how long the wait, no matter what would take, Inuyasha was sure.
He was going to see that smile again.

A/N.: so a long time ago I posted an ask game in which I'd write a little something based on the songs or lyrics people would sent me and someone suggested "Reach for Me by Skillet" which I immediately associated with this especific moment of the series.
Plus today's prompt for @inukag-week is "smile" and I have an unhealthy obsession with Kagome's right before she falls into the meido, so there you have it.

Hello! I don't know if this would be appropriate, but is there any good AU where Inu is a playboy, a womanizer at first? I just like this kind of trop 😅 But I'm new in this fandom and don't know any yet.
Hi anon, and welcome to the fandom! Don't worry, there's no shame in liking a certain trope. The Inukag Archive is a judgement-free zone!
Playboy!Inuyasha was a pretty popular trope on FF.net at one time, so we were able to find a decent amount of stories for you. Hope you find something you enjoy below!

Happiness by @witchygirl99 (M)
Inuyasha is an unobservant rich bastard. He has an OCD assistant and a perverted financial planner. Enter Kagome, a woman who has her own rules on how to live. He wants sex. She wants happiness. Well, that's only what they'll admit...
--
A deal with a demon by @ajoy3fanfics (M)
In order to save her family's shrine from debt, Kagome reluctantly agrees to marry Inuyasha, the wealthy son of her grandfathers late friend. Inuyasha is far from thrilled about the match. According to his fathers will, he must marry if he wishes to gain his inheritance. Is this couple doomed from the start, or can they manage to find wedded bliss?
--
Aesthetic by Autumn Dragon (T)
I was cocky, gorgeous, and one of Japan's Most Wanted bachelors. At first, all I wanted was to get into her pants. Now, even I have to admit that she was different from the others. Very different. Damn, I love a challenge.
Sequel: Houdini's Affair (T)
--
Break Me by ShadowBluebell (M)
It was a simple trip to the store. Saving a playboy's life from a hit-and-run had been a bonus. No big deal. Until said playboy shows up at her door, intent on showing his appreciation… in his own way. Let the game of seduction begin.
--
A Little Dessert by @witchygirl99 (M)
Kagome is a waitress who always looks after Inuyasha's table. Inuyasha is a player with a new girl every week. He likes the restaurant and the service Kagome gives. Secretly? He doesn't really come for the dessert, unless you think of it that way.
--
The Bet by Mesmerizing Love (M)
He is a player. He always thought that girls were toys that are used for only one thing. Until he met a virgin who he desperately wanted to break, so he made a bet that he would, but she was so hard to break and he never realized that he actually would fall in love instead…
--
Cheaters by @inunanna (T)
Everyone in the office knew Kagome and Inuyasha were having a not-so-secret affair. They weren't EXACTLY wrong... (Not a cheating fic)
--
If It Hadn't Been For Love by Reckless Dreamer Yuna (M)
Inuyasha? He's a player. A damn good one at that. But one girl he can't break through to, is Kagome. But it's not easy, trying to bed her, while trying not to fall in love with her. What will happen if he gets his heart broken again?
--
Dead Famous by Torenza (M)
The most wanted prize bachelor is up for grabs... but the one who gets him is the only one who doesn’t want to keep him...
--
Til Death Do Us Part by Jade Catseye (M)
Kagome hates Inuyasha. Inuyasha hates Kagome. What happens when the sexy playboy and fiery schoolgirl are forced to undergo holy matrimony?
--
A Southern Cinderella by DeletedAccountNotChangingMind (T)
Who cares if he partied a little, why should his parents not like that he liked women, so he partied, had sex, and races fast cars, why should he be punished for doing so. And why should he have to be sent to a farm to gain 'work ethic? Honestly?
--
Broken Hearts by Jezzie Lynn (M)
Inuyasha is a cruel playboy. Kagome gave him a chance and they stay together. But Kagome gets raped and finds she's pregnant. Who is the father? And is someone trying to kill her and her friends?
--
The Life of a Devil by SnowShadowuser (T)
Kagome, an assassin, finds out that she has only two months to live thanks to a mysterious and deadly virus...willingly, she takes on her last job; to find and to kill the notorious playboy, known as the American secret agent - Inuyasha...
--
A Player's Heart Recast by inukag-lover1600 (T)
If you fell in love with a 'womanizer' what are you to do? Simple. Just change him. InuxKag MirxSan KouxAya

I love the plot of movie 2 SO MUCH. Like the idea of how it uses Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and Princess Kaguya as the villain, while also relating it to Kagome's situation of not belonging there and maybe being forced back home when she doesn't want to be? Brilliant. Naraku faking his death to try and get the ultimate power up? Noice. But it suffers from some glaring "Sunrise" characterization issues that ruin it for me...
First off the group just like... IMMEDIATELY split up?? Despite not having all the shards and how close they've all become as a little family, Sango and Miroku just instantly peace out. (Separate to even each other?? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they already engaged by this point??) Even if they didn't immediately go seeking out more shards, I have a really hard time seeing them all just... part ways. Relax for a bit, sure. But the narrative paints it as them not really planning on coming back, since Inuyasha's shocked to see them later. Kagura and Kanna finally being free and Kagura just instantly decides to serve someone else because... idk, she said it'd level up her freedom somehow? I assume Kanna was still being manipulated by Naraku, but Kagura going along with it made no sense. Kikyou being tasked with a little girl's dying wish to protect this super important object and then IMMEDIATELY giving it to the enemy is so fucking funny in the absolute worst way. X_X It's never even elaborated on, that's her ONLY role in the movie. And then there's the worst offender, which is Inuyasha himself. The writers still have him clinging on to the "I wanna become full demon" narrative, which was dead and buried by this point in the story. Inuyasha had already vowed to never use the Jewel and instead break its bloody cycle (manga only scene unfortunately) had already been cautioned by Miroku about potentially losing his mind and devouring Kagome instead of being better able to protect her, and then had that nightmare proved true after blacking out and slaughtering the bandits with his transformation and explicitly telling Toutousai that he doesn't ever wanna transform again - hence why he overcame the heavy Tessaiga in a whole-ass metaphor for accepting himself as a hanyou and getting stronger AS A HANYOU. But then Sunrise decided "nah screw that character development, he's still thinking about it." I love Kagome yelling "I love you as a hanyou" as much as the next fangirl but it just shouldn't have been on the table in the first place. In fact, y'know what would have been great? Movie 2's plot with movie 1's characterization and InuKag moment of "I need you, Kagome." Double down on that returning to the moon (metaphor for Kagome's time) conundrum and Inuyasha and Kagome BOTH worrying over whether Kagome stays there once her purpose is complete, or if she'll have to pick a time. I know the manga wasn't complete back then but imagine that A+ foreshadowing. idk, just shower thoughts I had today. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk and all that. InuKag deserved a kiss outside of weird timings!

“Your ex seemed like a physical touch kind of guy.”
A magazine landed on her desk, knocking Kagome back into the present. “Huh?”
“Earth to Kagome,” Eri called. “Spacing out already?”
She cleared her throat as her friends closed in. “Sorry.”
“So?”
“Uh…” Bright, bubbly words blended. It was easy to lie and say he’d moved away; harder to dodge further questioning. “I…don’t want to talk about it.”
Their teacher arrived, prompting order. She straightened, smiled away the apologetic looks thrown her way, and finally, devastatingly, noticed the equations swirling around the chalkboard.
She had other things to worry about.

Hihi! Some little notes:
2023's timeline of choice is the 3-year separation, the entirety of which is in written in Kagome's POV. If we go by manga-standards and some guess-work, that lands us around 1998-2001 era Tokyo.
This fic belongs to the Homecoming Universe, between As Fast As You Can and its namesake. While intended as a prequel, this can be read as a standalone, and no further reading is required.
This will be cross-posted to AO3, and the usual masterpost will arrive at the end.
