Dethklok does not care about each other
Tumblr media
They all know the rule; Do not show interest, care, or intervene with bandmate’s personal lives. That’s been set in stone from the beginning. They tolerate each other at most, borderline on hate. It’s what keeps the music genuine.
Nathan didn’t care when Pickles suddenly broke down into hard, silent sobs one night after getting a call from his mother, which has essentially been 45 minutes of insults and criticism. He wasn’t showing interest as he took Pickles into his arms, shushing him, gently telling him that all those awful things she said were completely untrue. Trying to reassure him that he was just as important to his family as his brother was, despite his parents never showing it, holding him close as Pickles heaved in his inhaler, pressing his cheek onto his back, listening to his heartbeat steadily decline in speed. He wasn’t intervening when he suggested that they watch Pickle’s favorite movie (Son in Law, 1993), share a bottle of whiskey, inevitably falling asleep while under the same blanket.
Or when William was having a particularly awful day, hiding away in his room to spend hours just staring at himself in the mirror, pointing out the most his greatest insecurities and all the smallest flaws to himself. Skwisgaar wasn’t concerned, not at all! He was just pissed to not have seen his bandmate all damn day when they had previously agreed to spend time together, and so he marched down to William’s room to chew him out when he found Murderface crying and yelling at Skwisgaar to “Go away!” Skwisgaar didn’t mean to yell back that Murderface was “Reallys not even thats bads, you’re beings a baby! You’re pretty enoughs for me!” And, just to prove it, suddenly pull him in for a kiss that left William absolutely breathless. It wasn’t care, he was just knocking sense into him, he’d do it again if he absolutely had to.
Even when Toki joined the band, backstage before his very first live show, nervously pacing and itching at the many scars along his arms, his cheeks flushed red and stinging with nerves, Pickles wasn’t being nice as he sat him down, taking Toki’s hands into his own to prevent anymore damage and guiding him through some deep breaths. Pickles let him take a few puffs off of his joint as he applied the band’s signature white and black face makeup to Toki, making sure to be gentle, and he told him, ‘Cahlm down, hun, yer gonna do just great,” just because he couldn’t have Toki screwing up on stage…not because it was worth it to see him relax and grow passionate as he played.
When Nathan has walked into the kitchen at some sort of ungodly hour of the night and found Murderface…cooking? He was shocked to catch William in the middle of cutting up a head of broccoli, even more shocked to find that whatever he was cooking smelled absolutely fantastic. William bashfully explained that he was craving his Grandmother’s ‘broccoli mac ‘n cheese casserole’ And didn’t trust Jean-Pierre to make it correctly and so decided to do it himself. Nathan said he’ll have some “If isn’t total shit.” And Murderface replied “Only if you don’t tell the othersch like an asschhole!” And so the two ate in a strangely comfortable silence, knees resting together under the table, hands occasionally brushing, only interrupted when Nathan noted it was “Pretty damn good.”
When Toki’s old, cheap, worn-down guitar he had bought in Norway finally broke, he was devastated. He kept insisting to the band that it played just fine, but no amount of duck tape or superglue had any hope helping it now. Skwisgaar understood how he felt, he had quite the emotional attachment to his own first guitar. So he reluctantly took Toki to go get a replica made, being very strict with the manufactures that it had to be just like the original. For the week it was being made, Skwisgaar even let Toki practice on his own guitar, sitting behind him, wrapping his arms around in order to properly place his fingers, Toki’s head going cloudy whenever he felt Skwisgaar’s hot breath on his neck gently muttering praise whenever he got something right.
When Pickles and William got absolutely shitfaced together, slurring song lyrics as they stumbled through the halls of Mordhaus, occasionally clinking together their bottles of booze before finally crashing down onto the couch. Murderface taking another glug, wiping his mouth, and then taking the time to truly look at his drinking partner. Laughing hysterically as Pickles raised an eyebrow, finally manage to chuckle out that he had the ‘hugestsch fuckin’ crusch on you in the ninetiesch, and now you’re here!…with me!” His eyes growing teary from a mixture of nostalgia and intoxication and incredible relief at the confession. When Pickles gently laughed along, keeping his eyes focused on the floor, ignoring the fact that they had a very similar night to this about a year ago, which has a very happy ending, that William had surely forgotten by now.
When Skwisgaar and Nathan were together in the recording studio; Nathan pacing back and forth whilst Skwisgaar watched from the couch, idly plucking at his guitar. Together, they pondered lyrics and melodies for their next album, scratching off anything that didn’t fit Dethklok’s branding to a tee whilst remaining exciting and original. Their ideas came together in unison, inching their faces closer only to pull away for the next proposal. Nathan darting out all the concepts from his brain at rapid speed, Skwisgaar managing to envision them within seconds and give him feedback. It was almost dance-like, graceful and balanced. After hours, the two finally agreed on a rough draft, just like they had accomplished many times before. But this time, right before he left the room, Skwisgaar gained the balls to put a single hand on Nathan’s chest, kiss his cheek, and mumble “Bra jobbat, vackert.”
When William had burst into Toki’s room to show of the authentic civil war Lemat pistol he had just won in an auction, only to be met with a confused smile and nod, as Toki knew very very little about America’s history. And so, while he continued to put together a model plane at his desk, Murderface stood behind him, very animatedly retelling the story of the Civil war, including details that no one except him would bother to remember. Toki would up occasionally, seeing William’s eyes absolutely sparkling as he spoke. About halfway through his rant, Murderface realized he was doing the exact thing people got so annoyed at him for, t the exact thing his grandmother used to scream at him for, “Ugsch…whatever, you probablych don’t care.” Toki stopped what he was doing, turning around to touch William’s hand, looking up at him with those glorious baby-blues and said “I do cares. Keeps going.”
When Skwisgaar had just been kicked out of the shitty, low-class band of Smugly Dismissed, his third one that year alone, not because of his playing or even cocky attitude, but because of his dumb, shitty English. It was late. He had been living in a too-small apartment with them, and so it just dawned on him he was currently homeless as well. He flopped onto the nearest park bench to clear his racing head. Tears of frustration pricked his eyes, angry at himself for not picking up the language nearly as quickly as he thought he would, angry at them for not being just a bit more patient. He swung the guitar around his torso, instinctively playing his irritation out on the instrument. It wasn’t plugged it anywhere, so it didn’t sound it’s best, but it blended it well with the Los Angeles soundscape. A voice caught him off guard, “Fu-uck, yer fingers are fast! How’re you doin’ dat?” He paused, head snapping up. Right there was…someone familiar. Skwisgaar froze, a mixture of shocked to find that he wasn’t alone, terrified that the man had ill intentions, and confusion on what he just said in such a strange accent. He was short, scrawny, but had an absolute lion’s mane of fire-red hair. Skwisgaar squinted, hadn’t he seen him…on stage somewhere? His clothes certainly suggested some sort of Rock ‘N Roll lifestyle. He had a bottle of wine, halfway empty, in his hand. “Uhh, you…spelar er-music? Gutairs, uh, sångare. Du är en musiker.” The man through his head back in laughter, “No English? Dats fine. Let the guitar speak fer ‘ya” Skwisgaar certainly understood guitar, so while the man plopped himself down on the grass and continued to chug down the wine, he played for him.
When Toki had been wandering the halls of Mordhaus, only wearing boxers and his blanket draped around his shoulders, mumbling unintelligibly. He made his way to the nearest balcony, leaning over the rail and shivering at the cold, stale air of the night. It was one of those rare moments that seemed to be in absolute silence. Nathan found him, having received his random, late night text about nightmares, and didn’t hesitate to pull him back inside. It was routine at this point. “You gotta stop doing this, man.” Nathan told him, which Toki only hummed at. He sighed, pressing his lips against the top of Toki’s head, inhaling the sweet, apple-like scent of his shampoo. They slowly crumbled to the marble floor, tangled within each other. Eventually, they’d move to Nathan’s room, but they just wanted to be there, in the moment.
If anyone asked, was never interest, care, intervention. It wasn’t concern when they coaxed each other into comfort at difficult moments; it wasn’t intimacy when they shared the deepest forms of contact; it wasn’t fondness when they spent hours together just because. Dethklok was too metal for that, too brutal. You could never be as ruthless as they were if you showed such…love.
Sorry if this was absolute dogshit, it’s really late, I’m tired, was switching between this and an essay that was already late, and I didn’t proofread at all. Just needed some Dethklok fluff.

Thank you to @rebelrebelwrites and @jurassiclexie for tagging me! It was great to learn a bit more about you both 🙂
Relationship status: Married to the partner for 18 years. Got married really young but he’s still my best friend, so that works out. I always go with partner rather than husband even though it confuses the hell out of my family and coworkers but we’re both queer and it just feels right somehow 🤷🏻‍♀️
Favorite Color: Black usually paired with some irritatingly cheerful color lol
Song Stuck in My Head: “Stay Out of It” by this awesome little indie group called Michigander. Just saw them play recently and they were fantastic live
Last Song I Listened To: Lavender Haze (Acoustic Version) by Taylor Swift. Not bad all things considered but kind of surprised this was the last song I listened to and that it wasn’t Hozier since him and Lana Del Rey are my go-to fic writing artists
Three Favorite Foods: Sushi by far (an Alaska roll with salmon and avocado), Pad Thai, and Kimchi
Last Thing I Googled: NBA Playoffs Schedule because my beloved Atlanta Hawks are in a desperate struggle to stay in the playoffs as the scrappy underdogs. I never thought I would ever care so much about grown men running back and forth and throwing a ball in a hoop but once I clued in to all the dramatic backstories and the emotional investment of the players with each other and with a game they love and the importance it has within the city? I’ve been all in.
Dream Trip: I would love to go to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island because I was a huge Anne of Green Gables fan as a kid. Otherwise, I really want to take partner to see Norway because Bergen and Trondheim were the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen and were very similar to growing up in the Pacific Northwest of the US.
Thanks again for tagging me!! I think some of you may have already done this possibly, but I’ll tag @klynnvakarian @demonscantgothere @scriberated @thrillofhope @myfavouritelunatic @hazelmaines because you’re awesome and I am honestly curious/nosy lol

it’s time for my top 36 as of march. keep in mind that this year is super strong (rivalling my beloved 2016 in terms of song quality) and my top 10 has 16 songs in it. they also change placements depending on my mood
1. norway - i got chills the first time i’ve listened to this song and i get them every singe time i push play on it. pure art, so atmospheric, magical, the mixture of rock and folk with gunnhild’s godly vocals and amazing lyrics IN NORWEGIAN i am just beyond in love with this song IT WAS MADE FOR MY TASTE
2. estonia - it was the first song i listened to form the eesti laul line up and i just knew nothing was gonna beat it for me. it’s just so fun, with funny lyrics and a great folk-ish instrumental. crazy party of this year for me
3. the netherlands- gabber core on my esc?????? no way i lived to see this day. i am absolutely in love with this song- the music the visuals and the touching story of this song - instant hit. europapa has infected my brain permanently. joost was right 12 points to the netherlands
4. slovenia - this just so powerful, i love the siren core aesthetic and sound of this song. raivens voice is hypnotising like of a siren, you can’t help but get immersed in it
5. switzerland - it took a while to fully kick in but i absolutely love it now. the genre mix was a little bit confusing at first but now i’m just amazed at this combination of dnb opera pop alternative and rap - and the fact that it actually works together
6. belgium - they’re back to their dark pop era and IM GLAD. the outro had me on my knees, it’ll be so big during the live
7. lithuania - the 20s are lithuanias golden age, they are finally not afraid of sending their own language and they’re doing it with class. luktelk is a banger we deserved, modern, addicting. i hope for a top 10 for lithuania
8. italy - E LA CUMBIA DELLA NOIA💃💃 a true mediterranean banger, with amazing lyrics an overall full package, angelina is super charismatic, she’s a breath of fresh air for italy for sure
9. portugal - it wasn’t even my winner of fdc but i just fell in love with this after seeing that performance. it’s so elegant, calm, the lyrics are truly moving, everything in both the song and the fdc performance is so well thought out. some people will say it’s just another portuguese ballad but i think it stands out with its grace amongst the others
10. greece - it’s pop but an experimental one, mixing reggaeton maybe some hyperpop elements even? zari is greek to its core and while being very ethnic it’s also innovative and fresh. i constantly find myself humming this song. i can see it doing really well or finishing in bottom 5 - everything depends on the staging. but i love it i hope greece won’t be afraid to continue this more experimental route
11. ireland - my alternative heart is so happy to see a song and a performer like this on esc. you either live doomsday blue or hate it - i loved it form the first listen. it’s dark alluring enigmatic angry - an experience overall
12. spain - ever since it won benidorm my brain just randomly goes ZORRA‼️ ZORRA ‼️ZORRA ‼️in the middle of the day. it’s not even a guilty pleasure it’s just pure pleasure. i love how unapologetic this song is, the message of it, pure fun and celebration
13. ukraine - i absolutely love it as i do with almost every ukrainian entry although i have to admit it grew off me a little bit. it’s still a contender for the win in may and i wouldn’t be mad tbh. it’s a well made, powerful entry, ukraine always delivers
14. croatia - same like with the previous one it grew off me a little bit but it’s still a banger. this is croatia’s best shot at getting a top10 result and i wish them all the best. it’s pure fun and craziness
15. serbia - this year lacks ballads sm, so serbia (and portugal) have the chance to stand out bringing a cool down in between the chaos. ramonda is calm and reflective and so beautiful evoking all the right emotions. it feels very intimate even on a huge stage. i love meaning of the lyrics
16. sweden - is it a basic pop song? yes? did it also brought me to my knees with this beat and the staging? also yes. like i’m the biggest sweden hater but omg i just can’t help but bang to this song. it’s addicting. the norwegian twins have a pass from me
17. san marino - the funniest thing of this nf season. this not as good as arcadia but it’s still megara with their original style and a great vibe. if san marino fails to qualify with this then idk really.
18. armenia - ITS SO CUTE. it puts a smile on my face fr. ethnic banger through and through kind reminds me of trenuletul in a way (also there’s this polish party song “prawy do lewego” and idk if it’s just me but they have such similar vibes, i would absolutely go drunk dancing to “jako”)
19. denmark - idk i think i just have to have this one very basic song that i like for some reason. this year it’s sand. it’s really pleasing for some reason. nothing special as i said but i like it
20. georgia - your token ethnic girl pop. and that’s exactly it, it is a good song in this particular genre. and for this exact reason i can’t rank it higher. it’s good enough for me to put it here. still i am hoping for a q firm grorgia like let’s be real they deserve it more than anyone (with latvia ofc)
21. finland - camp. just camp. some people say that you either love or hate it but really i think it’s just fine. it doesn’t throw me off with its weirdness but it doesn’t excite me in any way. it’s just a weird little song in the middle of my ranking. but we’ll see if europe thinks it’s too much or exactly what we need. i can see it nqing
22. latvia - it was their best shot at q (although i still kinda mourn “kur?” it was such a nice song) but idk if they’ll manage to do that. it’s a strong powerful entry, but it can get a little lost in this years mix. dons is an amazing vocalis and if we had juries in the semis i know they would appreciate this song but with current system i’m not so sure
23. france - another ok song. i don’t really like the yelling ballad type but i have to admit this is well made. i’m still hoping for the revamp
24. poland - we had better options but this is also fine. an ok pop song, that’s it
25. australia - it’s extremely dated, it gives 2016. but it kinda started growing on me???? i love the usage of the aboriginal instruments and language it’s something original and i’m here for that.
26. moldova - again it’s fine it’s ok. but it doesn’t stand out much. moldova didn’t have better options (expept tudor bumbac) but it’s a let down compared to previous years
27. uk - i had such high hopes looking at the names involved in this song but ultimately it’s a let down. i’d does nothing for me. it’s well made once again but it leaves with zero emotions. comes and goes. kinda sad that they brought such a big name and yet failed to bring an engaging song
28. austria - this is so cringy. girlie is telling me that we will rave and then pulls out the most 2002 eurodance drop known to humankind?????? i mean it’s a swedish reject and it shows. in a way it is fun but more because it’s funny. idk i don’t hate it i just have a beef with it
29. azerbaijan - i’m very happy to hear the azeri language finally debut on esc. but the song is fine at best and bland at worst.
30. czechia - i know there will be a revamp but i’m judging the current version. this saddens and a lot. aiko has so much potential and this song fails to showcase it. it’s very american pop rock esque but kinda on a budget. i wanted to se aiko on esc but not like this :((
31. malta - a few revamps too many. nothing special really, average girl pop.
32. germany - this sounds like a last place i’m sorry😭😭 they’re asking for to atp. the guy is a good vocalist but this song is stuck in 2014
33. cyprus - this is just lazy. when will the cypriot hod learn that by doing the same thing over and over again they won’t replicate their 2018 succès. that was a one time thing and buying more songs form sweden and giving them to people with vague connections to the county won’t do them any good.
34. albania - they just sabotaged themselves with this revamp. it wasn’t a particularly good song before but the english language killed any originality it had left
35. luxembourg - this is just really unfortunate. coming back after 30 years with not even a swedish reject but singing dug up from a swedish dumpster? kinda sad for them but that’s what you get for rejecting your artists ogriginal songs in favour for shwdish bought ones
36. iceland - what i a travel agency advertisement is this? it’s not even about bashar loosing, this song is just bad. the only one this year i can use that word for. luxembourg and albania are whatever but this is just unlistenable for me. hera bjork is an icon already she didn’t need a comeback especially not this one.
thank you for reading for anyone who managed to get this far. i still have many things to say about some songs and nf performances that happened while i was inactive on here. and maybe rant about the STUPID system changes that they want to implement. but i still won’t be watching esc this year. and i won’t be active on here during the esc week (exams) so i just wanted to say that this could’ve been the best esc year ever, with amazing songs visuals hosts etc. but ebu decided to use all that to promote a genocide. so instead of uniting in genocide i hope that the amazing artist of 2024 will unite in humanity and raise their voice against the atrocities that ebu decided to ignore for the sake of money

my top 5 esc songs (so far)
disclaimer: this contest is ridiculous - always has been, always will be - but it’s also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate european music and i really like that, so here are my current faves:
1 käärijä - cha cha cha (finland): IT’S CRAZY, IT’S PARTY!!! i cannot even begin to describe how much i love this song even though it’s miles away from what i usually listen to. like, it’s pure artistic insanity and it’s perfect and i can’t not love it. unlike so many others, finland completely understood the assignment... and it’s a non-english song! how cool is that?
2 alessandra mele - queen of kings (norway): holy shit i would die for her. do i think that the lyrics are a bit cheesy? yes. but it doesn’t matter because her voice is insane and she’s gorgeous and the chorus fucking SLAPS. i mean, if this song doesn’t make you want to dance what will?
3 sudden lights - aijā (latvia): they’re giving me the slightest everything everything vibes, so i can’t help but root for them. out of all the bands that have made it to the semi-finals so far - and fortunately, there are already so many of them - this one is my favorite. i really appreciate the time signature changes and the ending is extra beautiful.
4 vesna - my sister’s crown (czechia): 4 languages in 1 song what more could you want? seriously, tho. the chorus is out of this world. there’s something really emotional about the harmonization. at this point i prefer the studio version over the live version but they have time to work on their stage presence and i'm looking forward to see them again in the semi-finale.
5 pasha parfeni - soarele si luna (moldova): this sounds like go_a and alvan & ahez had a musical lovechild and i'm here for it. love the flute parts and that he’s singing in romanian, which is a very beautiful and underrated language imo. i also really like the music video.
honourable mentions: blanca paloma - eaea (spain), diljá - power (iceland), joker out - carpe diem (slovenia).

1. Are you named after anyone?
Apparently, I was named after one of my mother's favourite students. I personally find that quite weird, but well, what can I do?
2. When was the last time you cried? Why?
One of our dogs was put to sleep a few weeks ago. Spent the whole weekend crying.
3. Do you believe in Soulmates?
I believe that everything in this life is connected, and I believe that some people just gravitate towards each other and choose to want to have each other in their lives forever. So maybe you can say that I believe in gravity.
4. Do you drink liquor?
No. I just find alcohol disgusting. I don't understand how people can drink it. Or coffee. I mean ... why?
5. What do you usually daydream about?
I'm not really a daydreaming kind of person. I'm a dayanalyser. I find patterns in anything. I pick everything apart mentally and try to find out how it fits into the grander scheme of things. That's what's fun to me.
6. First thing you notice about other people?
The eyes.
7. What's your favorite quote from a TV show/movie/book?
"Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" (from Doctor Who)
8. Some of your pet peeves?
Unemotive people. I don't know. My face is doing acrobatics all the time. Think of Jim Halpert pulling faces at the camera in The Office. That's me all day every day. Emoting is a kind of communication that I personally value greatly. It's like a language of its own, it's like a courtesy in a way, a form of respect if that makes sense. So when people talk to me and their face is completely still and gives me nothing, it always makes me feel like they hate me.
9. Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
I don't know. I mostly travel for work to get to conferences, so I don't get to see all that much as I'm stuck inside university buildings all day, but I'd like to go to Sweden at some point. And I'd like to return to Norway and have a proper look at it this time around. Scotland would be lovely, too.
10. Where were you born?
In a neighbouring city of my home town in Germany.
11. What are your hobbies?
Oh, you know, the classics: meeting friends, reading, movies/tv shows. I like going on walks. I was always into photography, but lost sight of it a bit, unfortunately.
12. What's the best joke you've ever heard?
Honestly, I'm quite a fan of my own jokes. I mean, the one person who has to listen to every joke I ever tell in this life is me. Gotta keep my devoted audience satisfied somehow, you know? Too bad I don't remember my jokes though.
13. What’s your love language?
One thing that I always think gets overlooked is that the love language you like to give and the love language you like to receive are not necessarily the same. I give a lot of words of affirmation and I like quality time. I like to receive physical touch, but hardly ever give it. Deeply despise receiving gifts or acts of service, though.
14. Topics you never get tired of to talk about.
Phonetics/phonology and people. Not in a gossipy kind of way, more like analysing people's cognition. The best conversations happen at 2am in a dark kitchen talking about how your mind works.
15. What would be the title if your life were a movie?
Peephole
And I'm tagging @museofnightmare, @findstenicht, @mutantenfisch, @livatoseus and @dreamatoria if you guys want to :)

The main reason I hated villain stans is because I'm a marginalized person. I don't feel validation when a villain kills a lot of people then cries and gets saved and their victim has do all emotional labor is so many privileged people do that. It doesn't help so many fans of those villains are white. I'm not sure i made sense
That makes sense! I don't think anyone has to like any character for any reason whatsoever, and there are valid reasons to feel this way. I imagine it's kind of triggering for you and a reminder of real stuff that's genuinely hurtful, unfair, and unjust. Your anger isn't wrong, because I would guess what you've been through *gestures at the state of the world* is infuriating. People haven't listened for so long.
I also think fandom can come across as dismissive because, well, the internet in general prioritizes individual experiences and extremes and not so much nuance and empathy. I'm sorry if it's felt like people are dismissing you, because your pain is valid.
Granted, some marginalized people see themselves in villains precisely because they feel like outsiders to society and feel angry at said society. They're not more valid than those who don't, and vice versa, obviously.
When it comes to fandoms, for me at least, I do think pushing for better representation (which just means more diverse, because good characters shouldn't be perfect), examining microaggressions and biases, and a good dose of empathy and humility, are all good things to wrestle with. I know this blog only reflects small facets of what I actually think/discussions I've had! I also think what connects us to characters is very complicated and deeply, deeply personal. Self-perception is complicated and painful for a lot of us.
I'd also fully admit that my background and experiences, some of which include privilege, probably does affect my tastes. But I'm also just a person trying to make it through life, with a weird background of my own and things like extreme OCD, having experienced a lot of loss, some of which is only days-old at this point. I do self-examine and such. I just also sometimes need grace and something to keep me afloat, even if it can't help everyone. So I do therapy personally and try to know my limits and still try to challenge myself to grow and to learn with self-awareness. There's no way to articulate this super well so I'm sorry if it comes off as a lot of nothing lol.
When it comes to BNHA, I'm not rooting for people to "get away" with things so much as I'm rooting for a restorative approach where everyone's better off and where society changes. I genuinely don't think punitive punishment works, which is why I don't want it. You might disagree! Most people probably do, actually.
That said, in real life, theory isn't practice, which is to say no I don't think punitive punishment works and I'm opposed to mass incarceration, but for violent people I'd still rather see them convicted and sentenced to life than get away with it, since that's an insult to victims. Longterm I'd like to see the US, where I live, convert to a more Norway-esque judicial system, but for the time being, the better option imo, for violent offenses like murder or assault, is of course punishment and reparations where possible (in a lot of cases, it's not possible to fix really even with reparations, esp when it comes to violence because it still will have happened. You can't un-kill someone).
For BNHA, for me at least, I see it as an idealistic story of hope where it's less weighted down with the gritty reality of justice, so I look to it for what's not possible here in practice to be portrayed there as a lovely dream where broken things are made whole and where there is restoration and healing and reparations made and even in some cases, the damage undone. I want them to realize they're wrong. I want them to change.

ESC 2023 pre-rehearsals top 37
Places 10-1
10. Croatia: I know this is very unpopular, but I give absolutely zero shits about that. I adore this song with my whole being- I just love these sort of weird political satire songs, when they’re done well. This reminds me a lot of In Corpore Sano or Hatrid Mun Sigra, a couple of my favourites. When I first heard it, listening to the Dora song, I was HYSTERICAL. It sounded so random and ridiculous. I found myself singing it more and more, craving listening to it and bopping to it. It became my favourite and when it won I was SO EXCITED. I was not expecting it at all. Another unpopular opinion, but I love their live performances- they’re of course absurd, but I realise they do it for shock purposes and honestly they’re so hysterical they just have me rolling on the floor lol. Again, I am a huge fan of joke entries WHEN THEY’RE DONE WELL, and I think this song has a brilliant structure. The lyrics are also of huge complexity. Hope others recognise this genius in Liverpool!
9. Norway: the fact that Ulrikke was my favourite and I really wanted her to win MGP but then Alessandra’s final performance was SO GOOD that I decided last minute to vote for her instead just says a lot. This girl is absolutely on fire- she is one of the most charismatic and energetic performers I have ever seen, and her vocals are insane. I am obsessed with the fact that she is singing such a modern sounding song with classical technique. I love the intro in Italian and Latin, the whole song sounds so epic and the lyrics are also very vivid and poetic. It’s just ajdoiahoahochaocjoa so insane.
8. Serbia: KONSTRAKTA’S WORTHY SUCCESSOR! Serbia proving once again why they’re one of my favourite Eurovision countries. The fact that Luke wrote this song entirely himself- music and lyrics and all- just proves how insanely talented this man is. His performance abilities are also insane. The song is a bit cacophonous, so even though I can tolerate it because that’s the whole point that’s why it’s a little lower than it could be- while it’s genius and I love it, it can be a little hard to listen to. But do we want to talk about the lyrics? They are some of the most genius lyrics I have ever heard in my entire life- on the same level of In Corpore Sano, if not even better! Something that I find brilliant is the English-Serbian alternation- the lyrics in English present all of the elements characterizing the song, and the Serbian lyrics delve deeper into them, so that you can understand what the song is about even without knowing Serbian, but you have to check them out too to truly understand it. The way the different themes and symbols intertwine and interact is also of insane complexity.
7. Czech Republic: this is the best entry Czechia has ever sent. Genuinely speechless they could do something like this all this time and just settled for mediocrity? Mad too ngl. Unfortunately their live performances drag this down, but the song in itself is brilliant. I love the alternation of the four languages, the symbolism behind their use and the dynamism that comes from it. The structure is absolutely brilliant, everything about it- the intro in Czech, the verses and pre-chorus in English, the chorus in Ukrainian, the rap in Bulgarian, the bridge aaaah. And the lyrics are also beautiful with a great message. So epic and so catchy, hope they give a better performance than usual at ESC because the song itself deserves to get Czechia’s best result.
6. Estonia: this is giving me huge North Macedonia 2019 vibes, and it’s one of my favourite ESC songs ever. This song is genuinely so stunning, just a masterpiece, and so so underrated. Alika is an absolutely beautiful performer- her voice is so rich and beautifully controlled, and she also has such a stunning way of conveying the emotions of the song on stage and dragging the viewer in. It is very theatrical and as a theater kid I love it lol. It is beautifully structured, I love the way it grows gradually, and it’s just so dark and rich in emotion. So so stunning.
5. Spain: this is so so so very different from anything we’d ever heard at Eurovision before, one of the most original songs this year for sure. I love that it reprises traditional Spanish sounds with the flamenco-like rhythm (Blanca herself said that this is a flamenco song), but also plays with it to create something entirely different. It’s slightly unsettling too, like a weird uncomfortable dream- I love it so much. I think it’s peculiar that if you look at the structure it’s actually really repetitive, yet somehow while you’re listening to it it seems really different, dynamic and engaging. I don’t know how it works but it does! And of course, Blanca Paloma is an angel- we already know from last year that her vocals are insane, delicate and powerful at the same time, beautifully controlled. ¡Vamos allá, la Blanca Paloma!
4. Georgia: unpopular opinion maybe but Georgia is one of my favourite countries at Eurovision, because you almost can’t find a pattern in their entries and you know that you’ll always be surprised. And well, I definitely was not expecting this. This reminds me a lot of their Junior Eurovision 2022 entry, which was my winner- so of course I am obsessed with it. The reason why it’s a bit lower than it could be is that the lyrics are atrocious- they seem as if they were written by someone who barely knows English lol. But everything else is incredible. Again, we already know Iru has some insane vocals (she didn’t win Junior Eurovision for nothing!), and they fit the song really well. I also really enjoy the “industrial”, dark pop ballad sound of the song, and I think the "Chamgaraga-ga-chamgara“ bits are so different and peculiar and cool. The instrumentation is beautiful, and the song is powerful with great structure. My favourite Georgian entry ever.
3. France: at first I was mad La Zarra was chosen because I hoped Izia or Juliette Armanet would represent France this year, but then they come out with this?! This is so aggressively French in a different way than I was expecting- it’s classy and cynical, while also being fun, catchy and modern. The lyrics are brilliantly written, La Zarra is incredibly charismatic and fascinating to watch, and the structure is really dynamic. Another big contender for the win.
2. Germany: for years I’ve been saying, “Germany has amazing rock, why won’t they just send something they’re good at?”. They finally did it! I legit cried when Lord Of The Lost won their selection, because I love this song so much and I wasn’t sure they would pull it off. I didn’t even have a clue glam metal was a thing but now I am obsessed with it. I just really love this personally because I love this kind of music, hearthy and melodic rock. Chris’s vocals are wonderful and I think the genre of the song itself makes it dynamic- alternating bits with big, harmonious instrumentation and more typical metal bits is genius imo. The lyrics are also really poetic and vivid.
1. Sweden: I really don’t know if I have the words to express how I feel about this song. I have been saying for years that if there is someone else after Johnny Logan who deserves to win Eurovision twice, that is Loreen- and she’s just proving I was right. Loreen is one of the most stunning performers there have ever been: she has a way of dragging the listener/viewer in that is just so peculiar to her. More technically, this is an insanely difficult song to sing (source: I am rehearsing it for my music recital and at the end I feel like I’ve run a marathon) and the fact that she sings it with seeming ease WHILE also moving and doing everything she does is??? Wot. The song itself is also really good (I actually like it better than Euphoria lol), with good structure and a beautiful instrumental bit, but exactly as with Euphoria it’s Loreen’s performance that actually makes it exceptional.

2013 - final
originally posted 6/1/20
France The song is good, but the stage performance left a lot to be desired. One of my issues with this performance is that it seems to be relying on sex appeal that Amandine just doesn't have. Like she's alright but her dress and some of the camera angles seemed to be trying to sexualize her in a way that didn't come off quite right. Spain The live vocals here were... so bad. So bad. And I can't take that lead singer seriously because she for some reason reminds me of Dora the Explorer. Staging wasn't so bad I guess and tbh neither is the song itself. Germany This is actually pretty okay, bar Natalie getting extremely off from her backing track during the first verse. Like this song is very Cascada in that it's heavy, trashy schlager, but that doesn't entirely put me off the song. The staging was boring but it could have been way worse. And, aside from the backing track thing I just mentioned, Natalie does a good job performing. I remembered this song as being way worse than it actually is so I'm almost pleasantly surprised.
United Kingdom The song itself is actually pretty nice. I really like the chorus. However, the staging was boring as heck, and honestly? I don't like how Bonnie Tyler sounds here. Like Holding Out for a Hero was great and all but I just hate how she sounds live... especially in the verses, like it's just ugly and I don't like listening to it. Sweden You is another one of those songs that just hits me emotionally. Robin also has a lot of vocal power, which adds to the emotion of the song. I love You as a song, and I think Robin himself did a great job - my grievances here are with the staging. I don't know what was up with those dancers, why they were there, whatever, they added nothing to the performance and seemed out of place a lot of the time and tbh I think that's why this song tanked. Italy Nothing really happens in this song. L'essenziale falls firmly in the category of songs I usually label "it's good, I guess" in these reviews. It's a pretty song, Marco's a good singer, the staging (while not very engaging) works with the song, and Marco looks great in that suit... but alongside the many, many amazing songs from this year it's not hugely good. My top 39

A little confused by the 21-29 range but for the most part this makes sense to me. The choice between Denmark, Russia, and Ukraine was so hard smh. Voting/intervals The Swedish Smorgasbord skit isn't actually that funny but nothing tops the stunt where Carola is literally blown offstage. That's fucking hilarious. Eric Saade is so... pesky. I don't like him. They seriously couldn't find anyone else to host the green room... Petra's a great host and all, but I need to point out how bitchy she was to the spokespersons after it became clear Sweden wasn't going to do well, she became very brusque with them which not all hosts do and I think it was pretty unprofessional of her. "TEN POINTS GO TO DENMARK I AM SO SORRY" remains one of the funniest Eurovision voting moments even 7 years later.
Thoughts after watching What easily could have happened here is a 2008 situation, where Russia, Ukraine, Norway, and Denmark all canceled each other out and landed solidly in places 2-5 the same way Ukraine, Greece, and Armenia canceled each other out leading to Dima Bilan's win. Clearly that's what Azerbaijan wanted to happen if the accusations of vote rigging have any merit to them. Luckily, though, Emmelie prevailed and gave us a great show in Denmark in 2014.

tagged by @caelumcorvidae and I like talking about music too much so I’ll do it \o/ favourite band: Bethlehem favorite musician: Chelsea Wolfe I suppose because no matter what she touches I apparently love it and listen to it until I squeeze out every single emotion I can get from the song. obligatory “I found her music when I was in a dark place and it made me feel like I can make it through”-plug
favorite song: turning that into “songs” because i’m unable to ever chose only one. Felbel Fittich - Bethlehem, raving about this song every day of my life. Elleskudt - Myrkur has crystallized to be my favourite song from her now even though I could listen to her entire discog forever. Nettie - Type O Negative is something I always come back to. Gimme Shelter - Sisters of Mercy, one of the covers I call better than the OG. song makes me feel so different. A Broken Road Lined With Poplar Trees - A Hawk and A Hacksaw is one of those song that I feel has completely changed me Das Schloss des Irrtums - Popol Vuh. same as above, no other words needed. Outtake 1 - Diablo 2 OST feels wrong not to mention it. favorite genre: black metal, dark metal, goth rock, dungeon synth, dark wave, doom metal, stoner rock, neo-folk, dark folk, trip hop, so much.

My narrators backstory
Tw for su*c*de
Gale belongs to a species called 'divines' and they are essentially divine entities who kind of make sure humanity doesn't completely screw over the planet, but otherwise do not meddle in 'human affairs'
Gale, however, while observing human life, which he is fascinated by, stumbled across a human who captured his gaze completely, a qman named Stanley.
Divines are not supposed to feel human emotions, they are supposed to make decisions based on judgement and not on emotions at all, so when Gale started to feel drawn to Stanley, he spent all of 2 weeks pondering why, until the curator (Cassandra) came to check on him.
Gale tried his best to convince her that nothing was wrong and that everything was 100% ok, but she knew something was wrong, and inquired enough that she found out what, and named the emotion for Gale.
Love.
She also may have suggested that Gale take a human form and go down to earth to try and deal with his emotions healthily.
Long story short, he and Stanley fell in love blah blah blah.
Stanley has had pretty severe depression throughout his life, and his mental health took a huge nose dive around 5 years into their relationship, and Gale decided that he would help him by taking him somewhere nice, so he chose Norway so he and Stanley could go and see the northern lights, and it's his last nice memory of him and Stanley, before Stanley committed suicide by jumping down a flight of stairs.
Gale couldn't deal with the grief and while clearing out Stanley's office to take his things home, came across a picture of Stanley and him at the northern lights, and he lost control of his powers in that moment and manages to make a copy of the office building and move the copy into the divine realm, whilst also bringing Stanley back, albeit without his memory of Gale, which, for a divine this young, isn't uncommon, recreating large objects/buildings and accidentally cloning/creating living organisms is literally child's play to them.
So Cassandra and Theodore (time keeper) kinda help Gale to make it not so overwhelming, and to keep him in a familiar setting with a fairly basic set of things to do to ensure he doesn't go insane from boredom, under the guise that he is a video game character listening and coexisting with multiple narrators/coders
One day Stanley discovers the path to the sending and as soon as he hits the ground for the last time, it all comes rushing back to him, and he goes to find Gale and tells him he's sorry, and lovey dovey stuff... Yay (I'm definitely not good at happy endings) (I'm more of an angst writer myself)
Anyway, they ditch the game stuff and try and find their way out, and when they do, they discover the narratorverse!!!
Yay!
This took me 3 hours to write because procrastination between paragraphs :3

What were you doing 45 minutes ago? Doing another survey. I'm telling you, I like making my Sundays as boring as possible.
What was the last thing you said aloud? Can't really remember. I've been alone the last two hours.
Have you bought anything new this week? Other than food, no.
Name one person who made you smile today. Jo. BFF finally graduated and I guess I'm particularly emotional aboout her graduation because I was witness to most of the trials she went through to get to this point, and holy shit was the road for her rocky for the most part. She is what Yoongi meant when he said, "Dream, may all your trials end in full bloom."
What’s the last thing you had to drink? Coffee.
Ever go camping? Nah, it’s never been something that appeals to me. Maybe if we lived somewhere with guaranteed decent weather I would give it a go, but around here it just rains all the time haha. < Same with me, except that here it's either way too hot, or rains way too hard.
What’s your favorite candy? Chewy ones, like Fruitella.
Do you send messages on Facebook a lot? Yes, that's where I communicate with literally every non-work person ever. Messenger is a necessity at this point given I don't even text anymore except for work.
Have you ever gone to a strip club? I have never gone inside one but would like to try to at least once.
Last sporting event you watched? The Philippines vs Norway, Women's World Cup just this afternoon. We mounted a public watch party given that one of my clients is a major sponsor for our national team.
We lost – and subsequently lost our place in the World Cup – but it doesn't feel like we have lost at all. It's big enough of a win to have the Philippines even just be part of the World Cup, let alone WIN A MATCH (against New Zealand, last Tuesday). It's chilling to be alive for such historic achievements and I love our Filipinas to bits :')
What were you doing at 8am this morning? Fast asleep.
Anything you wish you could change? Yes I wish we can have 4-day work weeks.
Do you go in at a fast food place or drive thru? Drive-thru or delivery always. I genuinely can't tell you the last time I actually dined inside a fast food place.
What do you think when you hear Australia? Stores closing early. And the Irwin family.
Who’s the last person you talked to on the phone? A media contact who was asking for additional slots under his reservation for the watch party earlier.
Do you like Chinese food over pizza? Nah. Chinese food can be great, but the casual kind like Panda Express is usually shit and comes off as inauthentic. You'd have to go to a sit-down restaurant to really enjoy the full flavors and experience of Chinese food; whereas good pizza is pretty easy to find.
Do you have a tan? I'm just...naturally tan. I don't need to 'have' a tan.
Biggest annoyance in life right now? I'm nearly out of vape juice and every puff is tasting increasingly smokier and shittier, but all the shops are closed and I wouldn't be able to get a replacement till like 10 AM tomorrow at the earliest.
Do any of your friends have children? Not my friends, but I have several classmates in my batch who now do.
Are you jealous of anyone? Nah.
Where is your dad? He lives where he works (i.e. a cruise ship), and I imagine at this hour he has just woken up and is getting ready to start work. I'm not actually sure though if he works weekends? I'll need to ask him that; he doesn't typically talk about his job with us so I know very little about his everyday routine.
Any plans today? All I wanna do is eat and take surveys and watch BTS later tonight. Enjoy what's left of my weekend until I'm too exhausted to keep my eyes open.
Do you drink your soda with a straw? I don't drink soda. I do like straws with my coffee though.
Last song listened to? All Day by Namjoon and Tablo.
Do you take vitamins daily? No.
Is anyone jealous of you? Not that I know.
What are you doing tomorrow? It'll just be work again. It'll be a Monday though so I imagine the workload will be 5x more than usual.
What’s your favorite number? 7.
Do you have a maid come in and clean your house? No and that's not usually the case here. For households with house help, they usually live in the house and have their own rooms. I remember finding it very unusual when I first learned how in other countries, maids will drop by to do their job but leave at the end of the day. Cultural differences, I guess.
Can you say the alphabet backwards? I can't. I know someone who can though.
Cedar Point or Six Flags? Whatever.
Have you ever slept in until 1 PM? Not straight. It's always staggered – like I'd wake up at 9 AM, go back to sleep, wake up at 11 AM, go to sleep, then wake up at 1.
Do you believe in love at first sight? No but I also don't judge if other people claim it happened to them.
Do you like the show Viva La Bam? I have never see it. Not my type of show.
How many kids do you want to have? None forever and ever and ever.
Have you ever gone behind your parents' backs? Yes.
Have you ever lost someone? Of course.
Where did you get your worst scar from? An overly excited Cooper.
What time did you wake up today? Around 9:10 AM.
Have you ever tried to erase someone from your memory? Mhm.
Last meal? A croissant from Dunkin. I'm still eating it though. Then right after this I'll be eating a cinnamon doughnut, also from Dunkin.
Do you like coco pebbles the cereal? I've never tried! I've had Fruity Pebbles though; I bought it purely because The Rock once referenced it in a promo with John Cena. It got super over to the point that I wanted to check out what the fuck these 'Fruity Pebbles' were, lol.
Last time you saw your father? It'll be three weeks this Friday :) I'll be seeing him again this November.
Last time you cried? The other day when I was watching Jungkook's reaction to this year's ARMY song. Man cried live and in front of 11,000,000 people and his voice even broke when he tried to speak, how could I not cry with him lol??
When you get married what do you think you’ll put most of your focus and money into? Coming from my experience in PR and mounting events I feel like I would be very particular about event elements lol. Like making sure the food selection fits what our guests would like, having enough activities or prompts to do so people enjoy their whole time there, approving the music choices, etc. Also generally making sure the program flow is in perfect shape from start to finish.
Probably not the best priority in the first place, which is why I am NOT cut out for marriage anyway hah.
Would you freak out if you were to get pregnant by the last person you hooked up with? I have never hooked up with anyone but in theory yes I would freak out in any case.
When’s the last time something turned out better than expected? Last Friday. Just work stuff falling into place at the last possible moment, when I thought they wouldn't.
Who in your life causes you the most stress or negative feelings? Myself. And my clients. :) They're all so very nice and understanding but at the end of the day we have a work relationship, so I can't help but associate feelings of stress with them.
Have you ever had a teacher that also taught your parents? Nah. My dad and I attended the same university, but there was no overlap in profs as far as I know because our courses are vastly different from one another to begin with – he took up hotel and restaurant management; I did journalism.
What’s something you complain about frequently? Never-ending work and parents who think their noisy fucking kids have the right to own the world.
Do you have anything planned for the summer? That time of the year is done. My one scheduled plan then was my trip to Bangkok to see Yoongi :D I still can't believe I get to say I saw BTS DJKFHDJKFHDFFLS
Do you walk fast or slow? Fast or moderate, depending on what I'm walking for. I only ever walk slow in museums, I think.
What form of public transport do you use most often? Continued from last Sunday. I don't use public transport. If I need to go somewhere and can't drive, I book a Grab.
Is there any alcohol in the fridge? Yeah I have a few bottles of soju and beer.
Is any part of you sad at all? Maybe not sad, just tired and in need of another break.
Who was the last person to disappoint you? Just a few family members with some questionable opinions.
Have you ever let someone go? Yes.
Are you a patient person? It differs. I'm patient with things like waiting in line or if a server messes up at a restaurant, but I can be impatient at work.
Do you think you’ve changed over the past year? Yeah, for sure. This time last year I was in a bit of a professional and emotional rut, and that has since faded for the most part. Also I was a looooot more inexperienced in my role as a manager, something I'm confident to say I've grown from.
Is there something that happened in your past you hate talking about? Sure. I'm an open book and have no issues tackling the past but that doesn't necessary mean I *like* talking about some memories, if that makes sense.
Your ex is sitting next to you, what do you do? If they were willing and were friendly enough, I'd greet them and quickly catch up.
Are you someone who worries too often? Only about work, but otherwise I like to be carefree these days.
Have you ever been completely alone with a boy in his room? Not a boy.
Do you ever think “what if” about anything? Of course, can't avoid those thoughts sometimes.
Is the last person you kissed older than you? No.
Does everyone deserve a second chance? Nope.
Are you emotionally strong? I try to be. I've been through my fair share of shit and from all those moments I've learned to just get the fuck up after allowing myself to cry a bit.
Is there anyone you don’t wanna lose? Of course.
Are you the type of person who seeks out revenge? No. I'm passive-aggressive sometimes when I know I'm in the right but plotting Actual Revenge just seems so childish at this point.
Do you think two people can last forever? Sure. It's a comforting thought to have about relationships.
Do you like falling asleep listening to the rain? Yes!!! Sometimes I'll even turn on like an hour-long raining sound effect video if I have trouble falling asleep.
Is your current hair color your natural hair color? It isn't.
Do you believe that the last person that you kissed cares for you? No.
Are you happy with the choices you’ve made? I'm happy with some; I have no choice but to just move forward with some others.
Do you honestly have feelings for someone at the moment? Continued from the night before, again. Nope.
Have you ever slept in the same bed as the opposite sex? No.
Are there things in your life that you’ll never be able to get over? Sure, for better and for worse.
Have you dated someone older than you? Nope.

Sometimes I wonder if I truly am the eye of my own mind, of if it plays me like a fiddle to survive its own madness. How much more have it pushed down for me to deal with later? How many emotions awaits to reach the surface as a last ditch effort for me to actually listen? I know I need therapy, and sometimes during these past few months the need to self termenate has been strong. But I know what is happening. It's a self destruct button for suffering, it's so ironic isn't it? The brain wants to avoid pain at all costs, and when it figures out that IT itself is causing the pain, then it wants to turn itself off, forever. As if this clump of electrisity can comprehend what forever is, or that it will solve anything. My mom helped put words for it into my vocabulary. My Ego is fighting like hell with my Super Ego for survival. It's an internal comflict, a war of the minds. I am winning of course, my inner strength is luckily emense, I will prevail. I am truly beginning to properly comprehend how much of an iceberg the mind is, and that I need to learn to interpret the little I get to the surface for my own benifit. To take it as it is and not push it soemwhere for my own comfort. Listen to my mind, simply put. I have spent so many years surviviing one mental illness after another. Survival itself is so demanding for mind and body. I need to get better so I can do more than just survive. What is it they say about Marslow's pyramid, about how the basic needs being met before learning to live and self actualize? I think it is so for the mind also, not that THAT is a new revelasion. But I feel it now, differently.

I have greaved my life many times. How bad things have happened to me, how I was born with a sensetive brain, I was dealt a bad hand, yet, so very lucky. For living in norway, having afamily who loves me and can house me for the time being, for getting finansial aid from the gov cuz im so sick. Yet I have greaved my future and all the missed oppertinities I will have because of my mental health. But I am dead set on having a life with dignity, whatever that entails, with happiness and kindness towards myself. It is so easy for me to be kind to people, and animals, and children. But I am not very kind to myself. I have tried to be, I might need to learn that in therapy someday soon. We'll see how that goes once I get into the system again.

Thats all for now❤

My Eurovision Song Ranking 2023
I have been unusually busy in the last couple of months so this ranking is very late and not too detailed. For this year’s ranking I generally listened to the official videos 3-4 times, though in a few cases I did either watch the video with captions/translations or looked up lyrics. Not feeling that strongly about most of the songs yet.
It’s Loreen
(1) Sweden, Loreen, “Tattoo” – The song is okay but I really like Loreen’s performance, both vocally and onstage. She makes the song compelling in a way that I think few other artists could.
Would listen to again
(2) Finland, Käärijä, “Cha Cha Cha” – Very catchy & instant. The melodic final section makes more sense after reading the lyrics.
(3) Lithuania, Monika Linkyté, “Stay” – Introspective, dramatic, singer-songwritery with a slightly-too-abrupt chorus that is kind of hypnotic. It took a few listens to really grow on me.
(4) United Kingdom, Mae Muller, “I Wrote A Song” – On my first listen I thought, “it’s not bad, though it’s not amazing.” Upon repeat listens I am finding it holds up well and I like that it tells a little story about channeling negative emotions constructively. Hope they have decent staging.
(5) Portugal, Mimicat, “Ai Coração” – Liking the wordy uptempo Portuguese.
(6) Czechia, Vesna, “My Sister’s Crown” – Dark and dramatic and rather pointedly political; I wonder how good it will sound without the echoing chorus.
(7) Spain, Blanca Paloma, “EAEA” – I like the flamenco electronic pop, yet feel I should like it more than I do since it seems to follow in the footsteps of “¿Quién maneja mi barca?” (one of my all-time Eurovision favorites). It is a bit hard to follow as it does not quite have the relentless drive of that song.
The rest below the cut:
Enjoy it.  May not seek it out but won’t skip it.
(8) France, La Zarra, “Évidemment” – She really has that dance-pop chanteuse thing going on. It’s compelling as I listen but afterward I can’t remember any part of the song except the title word, and something about her pronunciation of “évidemment” in the official recording is really throwing me off. It almost sounds like an American trying to speak French and it does not sound that way in the live recordings I can find.
(9) Pasha Parfeni, “Soarele şi Luna” – Obvious comparisons to “Shum” and “Fulenn” which were both in my top 5 pre-competition. (Not complaining.)
(10) Ukraine, TVORCHI, “Heart of Steel” – Prefer it to last year’s song, really.
(11) Serbia, Luke Black, “Samo Mi Se Spava” – The music actually evokes video game music in addition to using games as a metaphor.
(12) Austria, Teya & Salena, “Who The Hell Is Edgar?” – Fun, catchy, about something other than the usual topics (love, heartbreak).
(13) Estonia, Alika, “Bridges” – Piano ballad.  I like the repeated rising line in the chorus.
(14) Albania, Albina & Familja Kelmendi, “Duje” – Albania doing what it does.
Okay/Would have to be in the right mood to listen
(15) Iceland, Diljá, “Power” – She has a decent voice and I like the rising line of “oh-oh-oh-oh” at the start of the chorus.
(16) Slovenia, Joker Out, “Carpe Diem” – Musically fine but does not grab me. I generally like the concept of the lyrics but would hope for a little more of the implied angst to come through.
(17) Azerbaijan, TuralTuranX, “Tell Me More” – It doesn’t sound like a Swedish import, which is a pleasant surprise.
(18) Norway, Alessandra, “Queen of Kings” – Initially catchy but really isn’t standing up for me on repeats. I may be biased because MGP was the only national selection that I paid any attention to this year other than Melodifestivalen and my favorites were Ulrikke and Rasmus Thall.
(19) Armenia, Brunette, “Future Lover” – Thankful for the changeup partway through after the twinkly piano & strings. Little bit hard to follow the lyrics but reading them I like the idea of the song. Not a fan of the video though.
(20) Latvia, Sudden Lights, “ Aijā” – Solid. It’s fine.
There is something in it I might like, but not enough for me to seek it out
(21) Croatia, Let 3, “Mama ŠČ!” – Consciously offbeat. Not sure what’s going on, it’s catchy but the song doesn’t seem interesting enough on its own unless they can attach it to a great stage performance.
(22) Australia, Voyager, “Promise” – Starts out OK, nice that it goes a bit harder but only for maybe 10 seconds. With the barrage of questions in the verses, the whole thing feels like an interrogation followed by a bunch of demands. Sounds good though.
(25) Georgia, Iru, “Echo” – Entertainingly dramatic, but kind of hard to understand and the lyrics barely make sense.
(23) Germany, Lord of the Lost, “Blood and Glitter” – Sonically a nice change of pace.  A bit repetitive without using that to good effect.
(24) Italy, Marco Mengoni, “Due Vite” – It’s very Italian. Not really sticking yet but it might grow on me (“L’Essenziale” did).
(26) Belgium, Gustaph, “Because of You” – I should like this more (upbeat, dance-y, uplifting) but my brain just hears background music.
(27) Denmark, Reiley, “Breaking My Heart” – Denmark and Cyprus can hang out and mope together. The repetition isn’t doing it for me.
(28) Ireland, Wild Youth, “We Are One” – All it needs is a music video where people of all shapes, sizes, colors, genders dance around together (see also: the videos from “Story of My Life” and Malta’s “I Am What I Am”).
(29) Netherlands, Mia Nicolai & Dion Cooper, “Burning Daylight” – Talky midtempo. Vaguely Coldplay at end.
(30) Cyprus, Andrew Lambrou, “Broken Heart” – Dramatic wailer, lots of falsetto. Voice is more interesting than song.
(31) Greece, Victor Vernicos, “What They Say” – Different direction for Greece. Not sure about this boom-clap thing at the end.
(32) Romania, Theodor Andrei, “D.G.T. (Off and On)” – Kind of enjoying the bluesy 6/8; reading the lyrics it’s a familiar theme but the official music video stage performance is a bit off-putting.
Dislike outweighs like
(33) Malta, The Busker, “Dance” – While I feel the message of the song, the saxophone riff and “I feel better in my sweater” are deeply annoying to me.
(34) Poland, Blanka, “Solo” – Not offensively bad, just vaporously insubstantial.
(35) Israel, Noa Kirel, “Unicorn” – What exactly is the power of a unicorn, mythologically?
(36) Switzerland, Remo Forrer, “Watergun” – Feels faux-deep and particularly odd coming from Switzerland. Sounds like an attempt to cross “Arcade” (playing games theme) and last year’s Swiss entry (muddled message).
(37) San Marino, Piqued Jacks, “Like An Animal” – Kind of like Finland’s song last year but less fun. “I can smell you like an animal,” charming.

I care about you
| Loki Laufeyson x Reader | Requested by unkown* |
Summary: After your escape from Thanos and your past you have trouble adjusting to life on Midgard but luckily there's someone in your corner.
A/N: *I'm sorry but tumblr has somehow swallowed your request. I still had it on my computer but I don't know if you were an anon or a blog so I sadly can't tag you. I still hope this fic finds you and I wish you all the best <3
Request: Absolutely no pressure, but you know I'm a sucker for anything with Loki - especially maybe an Asgardian reader, who's also going through a bit of a depression and recovering from emotional abuse? If that's too heavy/complicated, I totally understand, but it'd be lovely to have Loki as my therapist. Fluff has definitely helped in the past.
TW! mention of abuse, mention of depression (please let me know if I need to add anything)
PSA: Do NOT copy, steal, translate, plagiarize, republish, etc any of my works on Tumblr or any other platform. Also, do NOT claim any of my works as your own. All of these works are either requests I’ve gotten that people have wanted me to write or original ideas I’ve had for works. If you happen to take inspiration from anything I’ve written and want to write something inspired by that, please a) ask me first and b) IF I say yes, credit me as inspo in your post by tagging me and link whatever work of mine that inspired you. Thanks.

Things were difficult at the moment. Asgard was gone and so were many other people, you were free but it didn't feel like it.
You weren't sure what to feel, what to do. Nothing was how it was but you weren't sure why a part of you still clung to that old life, that life you wanted to escape so badly.
New Asgard was different. None of the glamour and luxury, nothing more than a small village somewhere in Norway.
Thor, Loki and Valkyrie were doing their best to make the best out of the new situation but it was a difficult task.
It took some time getting used to living elsewhere for everyone but you couldn't care less about getting a new start or recovering from the traumatic events that happened.
You just wanted everything to go away and at the same time clung desperately to the few happy memories you had of Asgard. People noticed of course but they didn't know what to do so everyone just gave you space and left you alone. Everyone but Loki.
He would check in with you as often as he could, he still had to coordinate most of New Asgard and all the troubles that came with it. He would usually show up at the end of the day with some take-out and would tell you about his day, listening to yours if you wanted to tell him and always offering his support and help if you needed it.
At first you weren't sure why he was doing it, why he wanted to help but over time you began to trust him more and more, forming a bond that was based on trust, honesty and care.
His presence would make you feel at ease and some days you would manage to tell him bits and pieces of what was going on. He would listen very carefully and try to help you as best as he could.
Sometimes after you had cried and clung to his shoulders while he had held you, he would carry you to bed and would make sure you had beautiful dreams that night, staying with you until you fell asleep. In the mornings there would be breakfast waiting for you with a small note attached.
Those small gestures meant a lot to you and after some time you would get better. Sure there were still days where everything seemed hopeless and you wanted nothing more then to cry and just stay in bed.
But Loki was there, every step of the way and he would make sure you knew that as well.
