okay so im writing an amnesia type fic where Char A is seriously hurt and is belived to have died but actually survived (but it was kept a secert) but has lost the last ~5 years of his memomory and doesnt remeber his bestfriend at all. Char B (the bestfriend) sees A in public ~1 year after they supposedly died and eventually confronts them abt it -- theres more to the story but its irrelevant to the question:

“Apparently a visitor said the q-word a few days ago which ‘jinxed’ the team for the entire shirf.” Eddie uses finger quotes around jinxed. Buck raises his eyebrows.
“You don’t believe it?”
“That some higher power exists just make your shift miserable because someone said the word quiet? No,” Eddie shakes his head, “I don’t.”
“Maddie says that if you even think the word too loudly everything goes to hell.”
“No,” Eddie says, taking the final sip of his coffee. “That’s just the hospital.” That make’s Buck laugh.
I have a lot of mixed feeling abt this scene so who knows if it will stay ,, it is also the scene I'm stuck on rn ://
