I am so excited to see where everything will go because at first I was so sure that "okay the teens will make sure to deal with the doodler in a peaceful way so they have better chances at the end" but not only did Scary destroy one via Willy... or the other way around I suppose
Now Linc also just went "fuck this" as far as we know the best version of this will be now a 50/50 roll later on if the doodler will be "good" or "evil"
I did NOT expect Linc to do that, hell I expected Taylor more to go along and do that but not Linc and this means I can definitely see a s2 ending where they destroyed all the anchors instead of like solving it peacefully
I have been on my toes before but now I'm like genuinley 👀
I'm exciteddddd I wonder if the group will be split even more, like it's honestly such a contrast to the seaosn 1 dads who fucking held on to stay together and be on the same page despite all the bs and here the group is falling apart
I have so many thotsssss

Dancing On My Own (Tiesto Remix)
Summary: You're a Cowboys fan in Eagles territory. Melissa finds out.
WC: ~2.05k
Tumblr media
You have a secret- a deep, dark secret that you never ever want your fiery, die hard Eagles fan girlfriend to find out. You’re terrified of what will happen if she does. You’re a Dallas Cowboys fan. Okay, so maybe you were a second-hand Cowboys fan, but your dad bought you one of the jerseys because he absolutely adores them. And when you go home to Texas (how you ended up in the one state, one city that hates Dallas more than anything, you’ll never know), your dad always drags you to a game.
Upon moving to Philly, you took down every indication that you would ever associate yourself with the team that the Eagles love to hate. You couldn’t risk becoming an outcast before you even start your new life here.
And it did you good. You somehow land in the heart of the city, and you work for a school that absolutely bleeds Philadelphia. The principal adores the Eagles, Mr. Johnson is constantly yelling ‘Go Birds!’, Janine has a few trinkets in her room for each of the Philly Sports teams… even Gregory has come around to love Gritty. And then there’s Melissa Schemmenti. She’s had to go to court for throwing a corn cob at Ben Simmons when he pissed her off, she has ins with those who worked the demolition at the Linc,  she’s a season ticket holder for the Phillies and the Eagles… and she absolutely detests the Cowboys- more than most Eagles fans too. She’s gotten into more trouble for heckling the Dallas team than she’s willing to admit- knocking over portapotties when Cowboys fans are in them, throwing Philly cheesesteaks, hurling eggs and Molotov cocktails at the bus.
And yet, she’s your girlfriend. How? You’re nearly perfect. You’re smart, you’re funny, you can sing and play instruments to make her swoon, you’re a wonderful teacher and great with the kids, and you’re more than easy on the eyes. And that was what she knew of you before she fell madly in love with you.
With the season coming up, your girlfriend is more than excited. She’s been waiting for the season tickets to go on sale, but even then… if she doesn’t get them the legal way, she knows a guy.
She does end up getting them. Of course she does. And as soon as she does, she’s coming into the teachers lounge doing her happy dance and making her way over to you. She kisses you soundly before proclaiming that she is 100% taking you to an Eagles game.
“And,” she notes. “I’m gonna make sure it’s a good one… Eagles versus the fuckin’ Cowgirls! Go birds!”
She’s met with a chorus of ‘Go birds!’ right back, but you stay quiet.
She turns to you with a curious look, amused grin now gone. “Babe, aren’t you excited?!”
You shrug. “I just… haven’t ever really been into football?” you offer weakly.
“Well, I’m gonna make sure that you have a great time there. I’m gonna get you an Eagles jersey, a Jalen Hurts one, and you’re gonna have the damn time of your life!”
Again, you shrug your shoulders, looking unsure.
“Aye, if she ain’t gonna use the ticket for good, I’m right here!” Mr. Johnson points to himself. “You know we’ll have a good time.”
“Nah, Mr. J,” your girlfriend rolls her eyes. “I’m taking Y/N, and she’s gonna leave the Linc a die hard Eagles fan, right?” She looks at you in a way that tells you there’s no convincing her otherwise unless you want to out yourself right now as a fan of the Cowboys.
You just nod, knowing you can’t have this conversation in public- you do not want to be shunned by the rest of your coworkers. You could potentially lose this job; Ava has fired people for less despite the fact that she really couldn’t afford to fire them and that’s why both you and Melissa are teaching two different grades at a time.
That’s the end of that conversation.
Until she comes over to your apartment that night, ready to cook dinner for you and stay over.
“You gonna tell me why you got so weird about going to a football game with me? Is it because we might see our students at the game?” she asks. “Because if it is, I promise you… you know Philly is pretty cool about LGBT stuff.”
“I know, I know,” you say softly. “I’ve just… could we go to a baseball game instead?” You never pledged your allegiance to any baseball team, so you would be willing to wear a Harper or Nola jersey.
“I mean, I could get us tickets to a game,” she tells you as she puts the meat into the pan to start cooking. “But I really love football and the Eagles, and that’s something I want to share with you.”
“Does it have to be a game with the Cowboys?” you ask.
She turns to you at that. “Those are the best games.”
“I-” you sigh. Deciding to just rip off the bandaid, you take off the Abbott sweatshirt that you’re wearing to reveal the Day Prescott jersey your dad had given you the last time you visited your hometown.
Her jaw drops, and her eyes fill with a fire. “When the fuck were you gonna tell me that you were the enemy?” she seethes.
“Mel,” you say softly, trying to calm her down.
“Don’t ‘Mel’ me right now,” the redhead hisses. “What the fuck?! What the actual fuck?!”
“Melissa, honey,” you continue. “Please-”
“I- no,” she stops you from getting any closer to her when you attempt. “Don’t. Don’t you even fucking dare.”
She’s out of your house before you can say anything else, and the only thing that you can hear is the flank steak sizzling quietly in the pan on the stove.
When you get to school the next day, you head straight for her room to try to talk to her again.
“Melissa,” you knock on the door, a cup of her favorite coffee in your hands as a peace offering.
“No.”
You set the warm drink on her desk, which she promptly smacks into the garbage can under her desk. She stands hastily and storms out of the room in the direction of the staff room.
“Melissa, please!” you beg as you chase after her. “Please!”
“I have nothing to say to you,” she hisses as she rips her arm away from you when you catch her gently. She storms into the break room and heads right for the coffee mugs.
“Please!” your voice cracks, and everyone that is already gathered there turns at the commotion.
“Ooh,” Ava says. “Trouble in paradise. Spill.”
“This one-” your girlfriend, if she even still is after your reveal last night, points to you and looks at you with disgust. “-is a Cowgirls fan, and decided not to let me know until last night!”
“Boo!” Mr. Johnson heckles you. You give him a nearly murderous look.
“Just let me explain!” you plead.
“You have nothin’ to explain! You’re a traitor!” the redhead barks at you before turning back to the mugs. She slams the door as she closes it, slams her coffee mug down on the counter, and storms her way to her seat next to Barbara. She makes it so that there is absolutely no way you could sit next to her.
All eyes are on you, and you hate it. So you do what you know how to do: run.
You avoid the second grade teacher at all possible costs for the next few days, giving her the chance to cool down. Finally, at the end of the week, you attempt to talk to her.
“I don’t know what you want me to say,” she huffs. She doesn’t even bother looking up from her nails. She doesn’t even give you the chance to explain yourself. “I ain’t dating no Cowgirl.”
You cry the entire way home. You lost your girlfriend, and all because of some stupid football team.
You call your father that night, a sobbing mess.
“You were dating an Eagles fan?!”
“Dad,” you cry. “Please. I don’t- I just need you to tell me that it’s all going to be okay.”
“It is,” he promises you. “But, seriously?”
You hang up on him.
He calls back a few minutes later, apologizing for his words. You forgive him of course. You love your father more than anything.
“If you really love her, you’ll get her back… even if it means you betray our team,” he tells you.
“R-really?” you whisper.
“You’re in Philly now,” your dad sighs softly. “If you can’t beat ‘em, and the lord knows you can’t because no one can beat Philly fans, join ‘em.”
That’s all you need to hear to know what you’re going to do. “Thank you, Dad.”
“Of course, kiddo. Just know that when you come home to visit, you are back on my team.”
“I know,” you chuckle through your tears. “But if I bring Mel back home, there is to be absolutely no football talk.”
“Deal,” he laughs. “I’m not trying to get our house lit on fire.”
You thank him again, tell him you love him and hang up.
That weekend, you go out and buy a bunch of Philadelphia sports apparel; your credit card statement this month is going to be a doozy. But if it means you’ll get Melissa back, it’ll be worth it.
On Monday, you show up in your baseball gear, rooting for the Phillies as they play against the Cincinnati Twins. It gets the redhead’s attention, just slightly. But she turns her head when you look in her direction.
You wear your Flyers gear the next day. That gets Gregory’s attention.
The Sixers are the next. Janine grins.
You had even bought a Philadelphia Union jersey that you wear on Thursday. Jacob tells you how massively underrated they are and that he thinks they deserve to have a bigger following.
When you come in on Friday, not clad in Eagles gear like Melissa thought you would be, that is the final straw for her. She has you backed into a corner telling you that you can pretend to bleed Philly all you want, but at the end of the day you’re just a traitor.
You let her get up in your face, red with anger. You know that you didn’t wear it because you’re saving it for Monday- when they play.
You actually managed to get a ticket to the game, one next to hers- not that she knows it. You thank Barbara profusely when she’s able to get you the name of Melissa’s guy and where her tickets for this game are. Your plan is to show up in your new Jalen Hurts jersey that you spent a fortune on and win her back. You don’t want to lose her. Never.
You race home after school to change out of your green shirt that you wore to school and into your Hurts jersey and a pair of leggings. You grab the baseball cap that you bought and pop it on your head before heading out to your car.
You park your car for the ridiculous amount of money they’re charging before going to find your seat.
As you approach though, you see someone new with Melissa- someone you’ve never seen before. She has an arm around the woman’s waist like the way she used to hold you. You convince yourself it’s just a friend and continue on your way to your seat. But then she plants a kiss to the new woman’s lips, and your world shatters.
You might be at a football game, but you should be at a Phillies game with their unofficial anthem playing.
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh no
And I'm right over here, why can't you see me? Oh no
And I'm giving it my all
But I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own
So far away, but still so near
The lights come on, the music dies
But you don't see me standing here

THE DNDADS TEENS PLAY BG3!!! HOW THEY’RE PLAYING AND WHO THEYRE ROMANCING!
‼️‼️Pretty major spoilers for big parts of Baldurs gate. PLEASE read with caution. ‼️‼️
Scary: she plays a drow wild magic sorcerer. If this is before she and Willy broke their patron pact, then her dream visitor is Willy. If its after that, then its some really hot emo person. In terms of romance, Scary is likely drawn to Astarion after the vampire reveal but is torn between him and Shadowheart. (Also Wyll because hes actually GENUINELY nice to her but sincerity scares her so she doesn’t try to pursue anything with him even though she does actually really like him) she tries to romance the dream visitor (if it's NOT Willy obviously) but is pretty disgusted by the later reveal and later kills them. Scary plays evil until she gets to the nightfall and shadowheart doesnt kill the night song. After that, scary makes an effort for the rest of the game to be better.
Lincoln: Linc is just a normal human guy oath of devotion paladin. He’s literally just playing himself. He makes his dream visitor his dad which makes later scenes REALLY uncomfortable and he gets real-world mad at Marco like it’s somehow his fault. Linc helped minthara take over the grove because he got to the goblin camp before meeting the tieflings and he supports women. (#ally)(also she reminded him of scary and her character) but he massacred an entire people and then didn’t know why everyone was so upset at the party. Anyways he ended up romancing her. He DID NOT romance the dream visitor for obvious reasons. Linc does a FULLY evil run because he listens to women (ally) also hes: "too far in now to be saved anyways."
Normal: norm is a half elf, elf, gnome, dwarf, halfling, dragonborn and gith. He keeps restarting the game when he makes a choice he feels guilty about (Often). it REALLY bothers him that he cant make ALL of his companions approve of ALL of his choices at the same time. Eventually, he settles on a halfling college of valour bard. His dream visitor is (unfortunately) hermie. For romances, like Scary, hes also drawn in my Astarion’s “emo bad boy ness” and normal BELIEVES that he can fix him. He cant. He ascends him because he really just BELIEVES that there’s no way astarion will continue the cycle of abuse. It’ll be different this time for sure. It’s- uh- NOT. (Shocker). Also he romanced the dream visitor and felt guilty about it. Normal plays a good route (with the exception of ascending astarion) and the final party is bittersweet with his partner being the way he is. (Scary hears him talk about what happens to astarion and is FULLY like: “norm thats straight up toxic as fuck. LEAVE HIM” "ITS MY FAULT HES LIKE THIS" "no its NOT norm i am BEGGING you to raise your standards")
Taylor: oh you KNOW hes playing a tiefling. He plays a gloom stalker ranger because now he can actually USE those skills on the road. His dream visitor is his anime waifu. He’s romancing Lae’zel WHICH SOUNDS KIND OF SUPRISING until you realize the conversation went like this: Lizzie: “you’ve earned my respect and more still. You’ve proven your wits and your efficient and dominant. In and out of battle.” Taylor: “heh. It’s about TIME someone recognized what i bring to the group. I truly am the backbone of our party and shes smart for finally recognizing the value of my expertise. A WORTHY PARTNER FOR- (15 more minutes of monologue)” also he romanced the dream visitor and DID NOT feel guilty about it and was in fact, VERY onboard with the later revel. But he does end up turning on them and killing them to free Orpheus. (which he cried about afterwards) Taylor plays a fully good play through and gets the best possible ending.

I don't think people are talking enough about Linc's current relationship with his father. As someone who has a very strained relationship with my parents I find it very... relatable? Obviously I'm not the only one with this kind of relationship with their parents, I mean this is the dndads fandom its kind of a requirement but I did want to say something about it.
Now obviously my mother and father weren't killing people on the low, but for many people as children we think of our parents as heroes, people who know everything and will do anything for us until obviously later when we grow to teenage years and develop a sense independence we realize that our parents are flawed, and in some cases not the best of people.
In Linc's case he followed most of this, the parental hero phase, then when the whole disappearance of his father happened he developed this off kind of parentification role. The "I need to find my dad" to "I need to save my dad" then the whole scene where Grant talked about how awful of a person he was and Linc should leave him to die making Linc comfort him. After Linc learned about Grants real job, what he really does for a job at D.A.D.D.Y.S he pretends to be fine with it, continuing to protect and care for his father but after the murder of Terry, when Lincoln saw the murder, what his father had done and was doing for years going passed his life span he snapped.
After that point Linc had, like most of us, this breaking point, a realization of "Oh, this guy is fucked up, like genuinely in the head, and he's my father." and like all of us know this can break us. Going from my parent is amazing, to my parent is not the person I thought they were. It rattles you, even if your parent isn't a crazed murderer on one side of themselves and a wonderful parent on the other.
This rebellion isn't a shock to me, it may have seemed abrupt but if you listen closely to the conversations between Grant and Lincoln you notice the hints of this build of this disconnect between father and son to stranger to stranger.
Now i'm not saying Grant is a horrible person, far from it. He's developed this liking to killing after a deep trauma from childhood to the point where he didn't think he could feel without it. As well as he's up to this point he's been incredibly loving and maybe went overkill with carefulness, but to say he hasn't passed down trauma to his own kid is also not true. Like Linc said, Grant chose to be a father knowing what kind of person he was, what line of work he did, what his son would have to go through. No amount of protectiveness could change the fact that he knew all of this and still when through with an adoption.
No amount of carefulness makes that right.
This is a kind of dynamic I'm sure we can all relate to. The mentally putting your parent on a pedestal, to trying to support or fix them or the relationship, (sometimes) the fear, then the breaking point. No matter what kind of parental dynamic you have, the enmeshed parent, the absent parent, the narcissistic parent.
This feeling of if you can't fix your parent then it's your fault. That you're the problem if you try to express something isn't right. That's why I feel so connected to Lincoln these past couple episodes, and I don't think I'm the only one in that.

In Defense of the Other Teens
Hello besties :)
SO how about that last episode huh? I've certainly seen a lot of interesting takes and cool art and all that come from it!
And I'm... Here to offer my two cents.
Alright y'all, a few things before we actually get into the meat of it. First, this is a long post. Like, even by my standards this post is pretty fucking long. I hope that I'll be able to keep you entertained throughout at the very least, but maybe grab a cup of tea or coffee or the like before venturing under the cut.
Second, my stance on things will become pretty clear I think fairly early on, if you haven't already put two and two together from the title of this post. That said, there are some fairy bold claims I'm gonna make here, and the fact of the matter is some of them may very well be disproven as soon as today's Teen Talk drops. But I wanted to get this out beforehand, partially as a show of faith in a certain someone, and partially cause honestly I think it's good to practice giving oneself room to be wrong about things. That said, there are still many other points that I think remain important regardless of what we find out next episode (or in teen talk), and I hope you'll find those interesting as well.
Next, honestly, the first few chunks of this little essay really start out as more of a rant/vent than a tight analysis, and I kinda start things in a weird spot if I'm being frank with you, so maybe just try to bear with me for the first few parts, ok? They're still important for the bigger picture I'm trying to paint.
Finally, if I come off as a little extra salty and sassy in this one, I am, but I *promise* it's all in good fun. :)
Alright, so let me tell you my thoughts about Lincoln.
You know what I think? What I honestly, genuinely think? Linc is the most selfless of the teens by a long shot. Like, there's literally no competition. Enough "all he wants to do is help other people and all they ever do is betray him" with respect to Mr. TalkedGrantIntoAPanicAttackThenLeft and more appreciation and recognition for Lincoln Li SayHiToYourDadForMe Wilson, I'm begging you. I could sit here and start listing examples of Linc's selflessness to you for a good long while, but really no set of examples could better illustrate what differentiates Linc from the rest of the teens than this exchange:
**
Scary: "Chosen one…""
Jodie: "Bat’tholemew, we don't use those words."
Scary: "Somebody they wouldn't expect."
Taylor: "It's me. It's got to be someone that they don't expect."
Scary: "Yeah."
Taylor: "Yeah."
Scary: "It's got to be somebody who's really earned—"
Taylor: "Somebody who’s really earned—"
Scary: "—the respect."
Taylor: "—the right to... And all the knowledge of all the animes together…"
Scary: "Somebody with more knowledge than anybody else."
Taylor: "Someone with— who knows what to do. S… "
Scary: "Somebody who knows what to do to step up."
Taylor: "Somebody who can step up and be the chosen one."
Scary: "And be the chosen one."
Link: "Hey…"
Normal: "Guys, I think… I might be the chosen one…"
**
Yes, funnily enough, it's Linc's absence here that says a lot about him rather than his presence.
What's more, I frankly just don't think it's fair that Linc can do *so much* for the people around him but the *one time* he decides to do something that (seemingly) goes against Normal's plan, it's depicted as some ultimate act of betrayal or Linc "giving up". I feel like we significantly understate how much the other teens *have* done for the sake of Normal's plan (seriously, are we actually gonna ignore Linc stabbing his leg on a candy cane- TWICE??), and how much they've lost in doing so. If every time they fuck something up undoes everything they've sacrificed or done right, well, that's quite the negativity bias!
So why don't we talk about Linc's decision, actually. Did we just witness Lincoln finally snap? Has he given up on Normal's plan to help the doodler? Has he given up on using empathy? Did Lincoln Li Wilson choose the easy option? I would say no! No to all of those! And I think especially upon a relisten of the final moments in the last episode, Linc's train of thought when he breaks the pic is actually quite clear. And yes, this is about Linc showing empathy towards Scary, but I want to talk about the actual implications of that a bit further as well. Let's start by looking at the final bits of dialogue leading up to the breaking of anchor:
**
Linc: "Scary, what are you even doing?"
Scary: "You gotta destroy it"
Linc: "We can't- you just heard the Doodler's gonna make the world worse it's gonna kill we just gotta find something, why do you have to destroy it-"
Scary: "You don't know that!"
Linc: "I mean you don't know it's not that way we can find another way to destroy it"
Scary: "No, Willy said that it's easier to control if we destroy the anchors"
[ANTHONY EXPLAINS THE SPECIFICS OF WHAT WILLY WOULD HAVE TOLD SCARY]
Linc: "Well we're not gonna do it that way okay, come on like, the easy way is-"
Scary: "Who died and made you the leader?"
Linc: "The easy way is usually the bad way right? Sometimes the better thing is harder."
Scary: "This is easier what you're just gonna tell the pic 'Oh I love you I'm so nice to you' and it's just gonna give you all its secrets that's not how life works."
[LINK TRIES SAYING I LOVE YOU TO THE PIC AND NORM EXPLAINS THAT HE ALREADY TRIED THAT]
Linc: "Okay well like you're right it's gonna be hard but- I know it's not a person but I don't want more people to die we've already killed enough people like can you just do one thing with us and just try to find a way to make this-"
Scary: "The Doodler is gonna kill more people you're not seeing the bigger picture!"
Normal: "What no, Linc don't listen to her!"
Scary: "Listen to me!"
[AND THEN LINC SNAPS THE PIC]
**
Okay there's... A lot to unpack here. I'll start by pointing out what I think are a few key things to take note of:
- Linc is seemingly adamant on choosing the empathetic route and not letting any more people get hurt
- Linc affirms that sometimes the harder route is the better one
- Scary rejects the notion that simply saying "I love you" or otherwise being kind in words could actually do anything
- Norm says "don't listen to her"
- Linc's decision to break the pic only occurs after Scary says what she does (above point), seemingly in conflict with what he himself said only moments prior about not taking the violent route.
What I think needs to be understood about Linc is that, more than anyone in the group, Linc's decisions are calculated. Yes they often catch us off guard (seriously the amount of times Linc has done something that's made me actually gasp in shock is a bit crazy), but once the dust has settled, his decisions are always clearly consistent with who Linc is as a person and his philosophy, and accordingly, never come from a place of selfishness. The humor of it aside, when Linc says that he never misses any shot that he takes (:( Can't find the exact quote), he is entirely correct (and admittedly while I probably should gather various examples to show you what I mean, Linc swapping places with himself and Nicky really is the most perfect demonstration I could possibly ask for, as it showcases both Linc's aforementioned selflessness and how Linc's seemingly shocking decisions are never actually accidents or executed with uncertainty on his end). Try to keep these above points in mind as we move forward.
Next, let's consider the pros and cons for Linc of breaking or not breaking the pic, as seen from Linc's perspective. I suppose the general impression I've gotten thus far is that many people seem to be interpreting Linc breaking the pic as a likely (or sure) sign that he has "given up" on Normal's plan, and given in to choosing the "easier" route. This, I perhaps a bit boldly argue, raises a number of questions and ultimately implodes in on itself as an interpretation after even a brief consideration of them. At the most basic, and perhaps least interesting level, it's not like it would be that hard to search a little bit for some demonstration of love (especially with a certain pair of will-they-won't-they partners not too far away... Though I feel like the pic also could have been interesting as applied to some of the other characters around right now? Anyways...) You could say then, that maybe Linc simply doesn't care about using empathy, and has ultimately lost confidence in Norm's plan by this point, so he takes the path of absolute least resistance cause, well, whatever. But wait, didn't Linc *just* say that they weren't going to do things that way, and that he doesn't want more people to be killed? (You might say then that he thinks Scary has a point on "not seeing the bigger picture" and believes that choosing violence here will result in less deaths, but frankly I just don't think there's anything promising or compelling enough about Scary's argument here for Linc to have any real reason to believe it, all the more so given Willy’s involvement). Are we to think, then, that Linc changes his mind purely on a whim, and a whim influenced by Scary of all people no less? Frankly, I see this as a severe underestimation of Linc's strength of character, and this is where we really do need to consider the degree of calculation and confidence that goes into Linc's decision making and risk taking. What I'm saying is, Linc simply doesn't fall victim to selfish impulses that way (and within the group this is a quality unique to him!). Moreover, even if Linc might have his doubts in Norm and his plan, he still has significantly more reason to go with that than to listen to Scary. Seriously, Linc has every reason to not listen to Scary here. When it comes to what Linc cares about the most, Scary has without a doubt harmed Linc more than the Doodler ever could (The significance of Tony Pepperoni being stabbed in Linc's home in front of his dad  c a n n o t  be forgotten or understated!!!). Even if Linc didn't care at all about showing empathy to the Doodler, if he were acting purely out of selfishness he would still have more reason to do so if only because it means not giving the satisfaction to or otherwise helping Scary (and Willy).
But Scary is confused, and Scary is lonely, and from her perspective she probably does feel betrayed. We (and Linc) are given some important information regarding Scary in this episode. Firstly, we get a glimpse into how Willy has twisted things and convinced her that violence is the better option (not because it's easier per se, but because more people will apparently be saved in the long run). Second, Linc finally understands what Scary needs... Or at least what she doesn't need. Specifically, he understands that simply saying "I love you" isn't enough. He understands that Scary will never believe it no matter how many times it is said, and that to really prove to Scary that she is loved and get through to her, he needs to show her, has to prove to her that, despite everything, he is still on her side.
Linc, I dare argue more than any of the teens, has so much reason to leave Scary behind. But he understands her now, and, against Normal's wishes, listens to her. In a weird way (if I'm not dead wrong about this whole empathy thing), this kind of is Linc's "throne of the doodler" equivalent. It would be so easy to not break the pic, to not choose to (help and) empathize with Scary after all the pain she has caused him, but that's not the kind of person Linc is, and I hope the points I raised earlier make that reasonably clear.
So no, I don't think Linc chose the easy option. I think he believes himself when he says that sometimes the harder route is the better one, and followed through on this when he took his shot.
Sincerely, if you think the Doodler is just a scared teen deserving of empathy and sacrifice and making tough decisions, but Scary isn't, then I think you've missed the point. The Doodler is just acting out and needs help, but when Scary or Linc break an anchor through violence (be it violently empathetic or not), we give up on them? We hope for Normal to abandon them when they're hurting and depict it as deserved or even righteous? I can't get behind that, I'm sorry.
Furthermore, whereas Norm would certainly be justified in feeling concerned for the Doodler's sake if Linc's actions count as an act of violence, apart from that like, if Norm chooses to interpret Linc reaching out and showing support to someone as lost and alone and in need of help as Scary as a personal attack against him, either as a betrayal of their friendship (Norm is very jealousy-prone we’ve known this from the start!) or as a direct attack against Norm's perfect little violence-free narrative that lets him be the hero regardless of who gets left behind wait does he actually just hate Hero cause of her name hm, then that is, respectfully, completely a problem with him, and not with Linc. I think if Normal actually snaps from this, then his entire philosophy of choosing empathy is based on a lie, and Norm just wants to follow the narrative that allows him to be the hero on paper, so that everybody finally loves him.
Well that's a bit harsh huh. Believe it or not, I'm genuinely not trying to throw Norm under the bus here. But... I am trying to expose his flaws and shortcomings in relation to the other teens. This is important moving forward, because in refusing to seriously acknowledge the fact that Norm, while still having plenty of good in his heart, is someone who can be quite self-centered, and ultimately cares about being well-perceived and loved first and foremost, we become blind to the ways in which Norm, like Scary, is vulnerable to future instances of manipulation. That bit on appearance vs. true compassion isn't mere interpretation, by the way, Will has stated this quite clearly in episode 27 of teen talk (and in general I'd really rather not rely on that kind of bonus content in these sorts of posts but, well, it's hard to ignore this):
**
Will: (In reference to Norm's scene in the pride layer) "I feel like I understand Normal better now, like a kind of darker side of his psyche that's different from Henry... Like Henry's very concerned with being a good person but I don't think is super concerned with whether people like him or not, whereas Normal is like a little concerned with being a good person but *mostly* concerned- it's two different ways to solve love [he explains what it implies for Henry], the other is 'if everyone else likes me, that means I can take that in as well'."
**
I need to stress that I am not trying to imply that Norm is anywhere close to being a bad person, btw. Normal, like everybody else, has his flaws, but has proven that he has plenty of good qualities as well. What I *am* trying to imply is that Norm does have a tendency to put himself at the center of things, and is from a more meta standpoint benefiting from a narrative that puts him at the center of things (more or less guaranteeing that he will be seen as a hero of sorts no matter what- evident even in how fandom largely depicts him vs the other teens), and I'm just saying that if ever he found himself in Oakvale by some chance he might really appreciate the enforced anti-violence initiative put in place by the town's noble leader who really just gets him and praises him and-
I know (almost) nobody wants to hear this, but if Normal actually had a villain arc, it would most likely consist of him falling down the same path that Barry did. Barry was a hero, on paper. And the people around him certainly saw him as such, and loved and accepted him in some sense of the word, which is what he truly wanted at the end of the day. And he got rid of all the violence!!!
But none of that makes Barry a good person.
*sniff sniff*
Hey... Has anyone else noticed the distinct lack of stinky weebs in this post?
As much as I myself am a bit more interested in the Linc side of things right now, I do need to talk a bit (or a lot) about Taylor too. My little guy! You haven't even had a proper, serious character arc yet and people have already decided that you don't have a shot vis a vis the upcoming anchors, despite easily being the most emotionally resilient and stable of the group. You know what, I'm gonna throw in most loyal too. If you'll humor me...
Taylor may not be the most empathetic of the teens (in fact, he may very well be the least), but this doesn't mean he doesn't care, and doesn't mean he isn't kind in his own way. What's particular about Taylor's brand of loyalty compared to the other teens that I think might make it a bit easy to overlook is that it while it is very strong, it tends to be reserved only for the people he chooses to call his friends (oh, and his mom!). There's no question of Taylor's choice to disregard what Nick tells him and go back to save Linc from the FBI, it embodies some of the most fundamental parts of who Taylor is as a person. Which I guess is to say that, there are ultimately only so many people Taylor chooses to have in his circle, but those bonds are extremely important to him, and he really is ride or die about them. I think that this aspect is most obvious when looking either at Taylor's relationship with Linc or Cassandra, but also with Hermie actually! Oh, and similar to the example with the FBI, Taylor's response to the whole Tony situation is perfectly consistent with this aspect of his character as well. Tony was not part of Taylor's circle, not someone he chose to let himself get attached to (because when Taylor gets attached to someone, it is indeed a very deliberate choice), so no, he's not gonna care that much about Tony's death. But he is bothered by Scary's betrayal. He is bothered because, even if they weren't the closest, Scary was, I would argue, still part of Taylor's circle. And yes, he is bothered by Linc leaving him alone in the last episode for the same reason, except that in this case it's probably worse actually. I know I'm straying pretty far from the original topic here, but still I think it's worth exploring the interesting position this puts Taylor in going forward, especially with respect to Nick.
("Seriously baba when did this become about Nicky literally what are you talking about right now?")
Thus far, Taylor has made it very clear that no, he is not going to allow Nick to be someone he becomes attached to. There's a risk, in loving and becoming loyal to someone as strongly as Taylor does, and Nicky has not yet proven himself to be a risk worth taking. So what happens next? Nicky is (finally) around after all, so what might the future hold for little Taylor? On the one hand, Nicky's "words of advice" might begin to get through to Taylor, which could leave him in a pretty dangerous position. Taylor takes a big risk every time he lets someone in (everyone does but Taylor more than all the others because of how fully he loves and trusts and protects, is what I'm saying- er... He's a lot like his dad that way actually!), so what if Nick convinces him that nobody is worth that risk, and that everyone you hold dear will ultimately betray you? Well, I think we'd be left with a very lonely Taylor! Conversely, what if Nicky decides to prove himself worthy of Taylor's love? What if Taylor comes around and lets him in? ahaha shit I feel like there's a bad joke to be made about Taylor keeping his dad at arms length and his dad not having any arms right now god fucking damn it what even is this post. Will Nicky be able to maintain that trust? If he abandoned Taylor again, after Taylor has allowed himself to become attached (or if something happens to Nicky cause lets face it horrible things tend to happen to Nicky), I think Taylor might finally have a hard time getting back up.
What the fuck was I talking about? Oh yeah, so I guess going back to Norm, on the one hand, I guess on the more extreme end Taylor could actually take Linc's actions very hard, in which case I actually could see him sticking with Norm as an act of self-preservation. That said, I don't personally feel that this will be the case, that Linc is still ultimately in Taylor's circle, and accordingly Taylor's loyalty towards Linc will persist, albeit perhaps with a seed of doubt sewn at the back of his mind. And I don't think in that case that it's fair to frame this as Taylor betraying Normal? As others have pointed out, Norm frankly just hasn't really earned much in the way of Taylor's friendship. Really, as far as I'm concerned, Taylor doesn't really owe Norm much of anything at all. From the very beginning Norm has made it clear that he doesn't particularly care for Taylor, and ultimately has let his own jealousy and desire for attention (especially Linc and Hermie's attention) get in the way of ever really getting to know or appreciate Taylor beyond the surface level. Would I call it betrayal for Taylor to choose to continue to support his best friend instead of the guy who told him that anime isn't real? No, and I think the double standard is pretty obvious if we consider the reverse. That is, if Taylor chose Norm over Linc, after everything he and Linc have been through, would we be framing Linc as the victim of some grand betrayal? I genuinely don't think we would, at least not to the extent that we would with Norm. I suppose I'm saying all this, because well as aforementioned I just find there's been a lot of undeserved cynicism towards Taylor, and I think a lot of it does genuinely come from Normal's privileged position within the narrative as its de facto "hero" and what is most convenient for maintaining that image (and when I say "hero", that does include "righteous villains" who "deserve(d) to snap", just so we're clear on that).
Hmmmm I kinda wanna talk about Taylor and Normal as each other's foils but this post is getting a bit long isn't it... *Sigh* Not today, no, not today.
......Okay but still I have to say that if Taylor actually does finally get his "main character moment" I actually think that would be a great opportunity for Norm to acknowledge, reconcile, and learn to cope both with his jealousy and the parts of himself that are self-centered. Conversely, if Taylor does for one reason or another stray a bit too far into the habit of keeping people at arm's length out of fear of abandonment, betrayal, or the like, I think he could learn something from Norm too (having trouble phrasing exactly what I mean here, so perhaps I'll save the full notion for another time!)
So that's... Yeah, I think that's the most important stuff. I debated on sort of elaborating on examples of Norm's major character flaws, but despite everything my intent here was first and foremost to offer a "defense of the other teens" more than anything else. Though I will say that I think there is something to be said about how Normal's self-centeredness gets in the way of his ability to actually help those around him (Grant and Taylor both being great examples in "The Staircase"), how this contrasts with Linc's willingness to actually listen to and figure out what Scary needs in this most recent episode, and accordingly what Normal could potentially learn from Linc about not just choosing the route that's easiest for you.

This question has been on my mind lately, and as a sucker for angst I have to ask: How would LIs react if MC started acting coldly, as if drifting away from them, especially if MC is someone who has physical touch as their love language?
ps: I can't wait to kiss-- I mean, to see my babies Linconl and Amalia 👿
this ask is very old but! i hope you enjoyed your linc and amalia kisses 😘
Lincoln
He would become super insecure! He'd start overthinking everything, trying to figure out what it was he did. He would casually try to reach out to you and see if you reciprocate (maybe like brushing your arms together or holding out his hand for you to take) and if you reject him he would feel even worse. He'd stifle it up for a while as it attacks his confidence in this relationship, but eventually he'd bring it up to you and try to figure out what's going on.
Amalia
Amalia would try to figure things out on her own at first. She would watch you interact with other people and see if you're different with them too or if it's just her. She'd try different ways of reaching out to you to see if you reciprocate sometimes and if you do reciprocate, why you do. Once she thinks she's pieced together what happened, she'd try to talk to you about it, though she'd be really unsure and embarrassed about it and it would take her like half a day to work up the courage to do so.
Abel
Abel’s very emotionally stable and is very big on healthy communication, so he wouldn’t care for this at all. Almost as soon as he noticed it, he’d bring it up to you. He doesn’t like the idea of any unresolved feelings festering in your relationship, so he’d get it all out in the open pretty quickly. He’d make sure you knew you could talk to him about anything, and that you’ll never get any judgment from him. Whatever the problem was he’d promise to work on it with you.
Jocelyn
She would get really insecure and scared that she did or said something wrong, or that MC decided that she’s not good enough after all and hadn’t made up for her sins of the past. She would start pulling back and closing off in turn, and it would be up to MC to reach out to her and repair things.

taylor dndads for the character ask!!
TAYLOR.
first impression: oh my god this guy is literally {ex-friend}
impression now: MY EEPY MEEPY LITTLE FELLOW. little guy. little silly. hes so me. so so me
favorite moment: the time when anthony literally put a girl in front of him that would be PERFECT as a crush and he DIDNT KNOW AND JUST INSULTED HER AND SLAMMED THE DOOR IN HER FACE
idea for a story: kicks my legs. scary and taylor bonding over absence of father figure in life and even coming to a better understanding of each other and why the other is the way they are. bats eyes
unpopular opinion: ILL SAY IT HES PROBABLY THE MOST TOLERABLE OF ALL OF THE TEENS. IN REAL LIFE ID TALK TO HIM MORE THAN SCARY NORMAL OR LINC.
favorite relationship: swiftli my beloveds
favorite headcanon: ok so this ones mine but i absolutely believe that after meeting his dad he remembers everything from when he was a baby (he was one of those weirdo kids who did but then his dad left and it got jumbled up. meeting nicky again helped him regain those) and he makes fun of his dad all the time with them. “remember when you thought formula was supposed to be given dry and you just gave me powder as a baby” “SHUT UP”

Firstly, the intro is insane. I can't even. This episode, overall, made me he cackle throughout. This whole riff at the beginning with John and Mae Hailes is very funny. Was this always supposed to be Scam??? Or it just worked out that way?
These Scary apology moments are hilarious.
Anthony is trying so hard to keep the dads with them. He knows we need that catharsis. But the teens don't want them around, understandably. I'm glad they worked it out to keep the dads around and the teens still in character. We need the character bits!
Boss Kicks. Hoo boy. This whole bit is hilarious.
Then all the phones get broken. Everyone is insane this episode. Now the dads have to stay since they can't communicate.
I just love Dood. So much. They're so adorable. (Even though he immediately killed 2 guards to solve a problem. We'll just ignore that for now.)
I feel Taylor's excitement about finally having skills and spells that are useful. It feels good when the DND stuff actually works out. But that excitement leads to full Freddie insanity by the end of this episode.
I guess the whole bush riff goes with the cum nuggets from last episode.
Scary and Hermie fun times! We haven't gotten enough of Hermie lately. This is one of those moments when failing is hilarious and not just sad.
All the locker stuff is great. A beautiful Will and Freddie moment. Love this. Of course the locker combo is tied to the school. And thank you to the artist who's been drawing the images of Normal's Teeny the Teen calendar. All great character work here.
All this portal stuff is also crazy. This seems so overpowered. Like the amplifier. That also feels overpowered. Seems too easy to just hop realms. (Why do all the other portals go to Hell? Anthony - you setting up something with the FBI invading hell? As they have wanted to do all season? And kinda did earlier... But that didn't really go anywhere. Shmegan just likes to show up randomly, I guess).
Grant and Linc's convo. 😭 Give me more character interactions. We need it. That's where the catharsis is gonna be.
Taking notes on this episode just makes me realize how many weird riffs there are. So many things to comment on. Normal wants to help these guards so much. So many distractions.
And then we get to the Taylor and Freddie show at the end. Another hilarious and insane Freddie plan. We know we're in for an adventure when Freddie starts saying "here's what it is" over and over again. His whole plan is inciting revolution? That's his plan to get them all in the school? Anthony is so kind to roll with this in any way. Thanks for that Les Mis reference, Anthony. Much appreciated.
Love that Nicky is just the errands runner at this point.
Love that Dood can sense the spirit in the Teeny costume. 🥰
What an ending. They are totally surrounded in this school. But I guess the dads can just make portals. That does suck some of the tension away. Overpowered, I'm telling ya. But that was a fun, insane listen. Great episode with funny riffs. Excited for the next one.

❝ If you ride like lightning,         you’re gonna crash like thunder. ❞
Age: 33
Gender identification: Cis male, he/him
Residential area: Bighorn Hills
Occupation: Motocross & Flat track racer + bank robber
Two positive traits: Loyal & adventurous
Two negative traits: Quiet & reticent
Length of time in Providence Peak: 33 years
Faceclaim: Ryan Gosling
a body covered in ink that tells his story, stained and torn hard worn clothing, scars detailing countless adventures, sad eyes that speak of things he cannot put words to, that near constant need for an adrenaline rush, words that have to fight their way out
abuse tw, climbing accident tw & death tw
Born and raised in Providence Peak, Joshua was the adventurous kid growing up that had a charisma to him. It always seemed to draw people in and keep them connected to him despite the fact that he’d never been a big talker and he wasn’t one for a lot of attention. The gift he had was making people feel seen. Josh looked at you when you were talking to him, remembered the things you said, and was always there to be by your side no matter the cost.
It was his rough home life that kept him out all the time or crashing at friend's houses. Going back home was something he dreaded because of all the yelling and fighting between his parents. To him they seemed to hate each other and he could never understand why they stuck together. His father was a drunk that would sometimes throw his fists but the bruising and injuries Josh would gain from those moments were explained away by his rambunctiousness. Just another accident from falling off his bike or trying to pull off another wild stunt he’d easily become known for.
The only way Josh and his father bonded was following him, begging the old man to let him enter into some races. He’d told Josh to ‘fuck off’ so the signatures were forged and once he started winning his father came around in seeing a possible cash cow in his son. It wasn’t just a passion or a rush, it was an escape. The only way to be free of everything was when he was on his bikes. Traveling around didn’t wow him or move him, there was a bit of a soul connection, racing and being on a motorcycle was something he had to do. It didn't hurt that Josh was good at it and won races all over the United States and Canada. Sponsorships came rolling in and in the world of extreme sports he became a name. That name was Linc. As soon as the nickname became a thing he went by nothing else. Only his childhood friends (which consisted of very few) were able to call him Josh.
When he was 16 Josh left his parents and broken home behind and began living on his own. And as his racing career grew to amazing heights so did his need for the extreme. Josh and his best friend became mountaineers, climbing mountains to the summit or scaling mountain faces— it was their thing. Free climbing had become Josh's new test, the new death defying danger that only became a true dance with mortality after the accident that changed everything in his life. During a climb with Adrian, his best friend slipped and Josh did his best to grab Adrian and hold onto him while the other friends in their climbing party tried to climb up and reach the falling man. To this day Josh hasn’t spoken a word of the fall and those last moments. But the loss of his best friend and brother tore him apart.
Everything turned dark with Josh following that day. His despair became self destruction and every wild adventure he took on was really a quest for death to take him too. He dove into shark alley and never got even a bump, he surfed near 100ft waves off the coast of Portugal, he topped Everest without the assistance of oxygen, and he jumped out of planes and... well, his buddy had to pull the parachute cord.
Grief had turned him upside down. The guy who was known for not talking much became quieter. Josh stopped chasing dreams and achievements and began doing things just to see if he could. Like robbing banks. It was a test and it was risk every time he attempted it. While he never pulled off a heist within his own city the clever man has outwitted the authorities each step of the way.
Life goals? Josh doesn’t really have any. He feels he exists when he shouldn’t, that someone else deserves to be here in his place. But that’s also why he simply lives.

Request for a Lincoln-specific fic! Lincoln gets way more than he bargains for when he and Clyde swap roles whilst trapped inside a video game [Lincoln’s the sidekick while Clyde’s the hero]
Lincoln Loud: Player 2
Fandom: Loud House
Lincoln Loud was usually known as the white hair hare, the man with the plan, the leader of the pack.
Yet to him, it’s more of a mask to the public and his family. A way to hide the true self of his for more reasons than one.
Closest he’s ever broken said mask and reveled himself was one day with Clyde.
Now usually, it’s easy to slip on the mask, keep it on all day.
But ever since he’s meet Clyde, it’s cracked a few times.
Whether it was Ronnie Ann when she bullied him, or anyone really bullied him. Or when his sisters get the most attention, praise, or just gang up on him for whatever reason.
Yet the day he and Clyde played the newest video game Virtual Lore, was when he shattered.
Having just graduated middle school, the pair decided to use their graduation money combined, to buy the latest game.
And started out alright.
They chose their character occupation, interests, and they were in.
The thing that made this game so popular was it basically scanned each player to make their avatar look exactly like them, but with fantasy features.
Lincoln choose to be a part merman look that worked as a swordsman, while Clyde chose a part elf look that worked as a archer.
They blasted through the tutorial, and after completing a few minor quests, did things get ugly.
You know how those with swords are usually the hero?…not this game it seemed.
“Sir Clyde! Can pur great, talented hero save us?”
Clyde looked at Lincoln besides him, his expression confused as he looks back at the princess of the game realm.
“Uh…I’m just an archer madam.”
The princess gasps, “But it’s true! Everyone knows the archer is the most powerful and heroic of all!”
Lincoln looks away, his mind going more chaotic as the two accept the princess’s hardest quest, to take down the shapeshifter hoard.
“That was weird huh Linc? I could of sworn the game didn’t have the ‘archer’ as the hero of popularity no?…Linc?”
Lincoln and him trudged through the haunted forest, his mind going a million miles a minute as his mind turns as dark as the forest around them.
‘My family, my classmates, and now this game? Does no one think I amount to anything? Should I break this act for good? But what will that do, if I do, I’ll just mess everything up anyway…’
Lincoln just shakes his head as he turns to Clyde, his mask still on despite the cracks he could feel erupt, “All good buddy! And hey, maybe once we complete this quest, we can find out more of our status in this game. Definitely different from usual games huh?”
Clyde looked upon his friend, he frowns but nods, letting Lincoln lead them on, despite his gut telling him it seemed the white hair knight was drifting further away.
——-
“Welcome to the hoard’s lair boys!”
Lincoln couldn’t help but groan as before him and Cylde inside the darken cave, was basically a snake like group of girls that just happen to look like his sisters.
“L-Lori?” Lincoln nearly facepalmed, but thankfully any nosebleed was nonexistent in this game from his friend’s awkward crush.
“I don’t get it,” Lincoln says as the sisters circle around them, “why would they all join the game? They rather go to the mall than do something I like.”
Serpent like or not, Lincoln could tell Lynn was itching for their battle to begin as she keep hissing.
Luan meanwhile giggling her joker laugh, but the snake like hissing with it just made Lincoln want to curl up and hide away.
“This game is a literal money maker! Don’t know how many people play this game? We can make a fortune!”
All the sisters verbally agreed with Luan, even Lily despite Lincoln knowing she’d rather be drawing in real life, than get sucked into some scheme of Luan’s.
“We’ve already become the hardest bosses in the game! And since Clyde is the hero here, this battle will make us number one for ages!” Lynn says with a laugh, “So just stay where you are Stinkin, we’ll save you the more embarrassment of trying to fight us, and just end you here.”
Lincoln’s fists curl as he looks down at the ground in shame.
His sisters, he should of known would try to make something he liked work against him, become something of theirs, to make his thing a joke.
He’d thought, after years of the mask, years of dealing with bullies and sisters alike, and now just about to start high school, they’d lay off.
Lori was a golfing icon, and he knew as soon as the graduation celebration was over, she’d take off to her next tournament.
Leni was in college for fashion, already being talked into interning at one of the best fashion industries in the world.
Luna was working with her band to make it big, and already was making music videos topping the charts.
Luan had graduated high school just months ago, which now that Lincoln thought more of, definitely was celebrated more than him and Clyde.
His parents didn’t even care it seemed, it was the McBrides who gave them cake, congratulations, permission to get the game.
He knew middle school graduation wasn’t as big as high school, but surely all his hard work should be celebrated by his family?
But like always it seemed, he’d be left in the shadows.
Even his younger siblings had gotten more attention than him lately, more so than ever.
This game was all he seem to have of his own these days.
He had literally sold all his comic books just to buy this game. He gave away his old video games to Clyde to save room.
Yet here they all were, his sisters, his family, making his life a chaotic mess.
And he has had it.
“No.”
Lynn and the girls stopped laughing, her eyes now narrowing at the knight, “What was that, punk?” Her look now transforming to a dragon, a puff a smoke and ash hitting Lincoln.
Lincoln looks up, his masks shatters as his eyes go ablaze.
Lynn and the others actually take a step back at such a cold, harden look.
Clyde shivers and even takes a step back from Lincoln’s side, but even he can’t get far as he just can’t look away from his friend.
“I’ve had enough of you all, my so called family, bullying and pushing me aside for years.” His voice could of made the face turn to ice if the game allowed, but not even the clearly shown Luan having recorded since the pair came into the cave to the internet could faze him.
“I’ve had to act like I was some pushover for years. None of you noticed, and I’ve been doing so since the twins were in diapers!”
The sisters gasps.
“You want to know the real me? Oh wait, why would you all, when you all and my parents seem to push the fake me aside, why won’t the real me do?”
Lincoln takes a step forward his eyes never leaving his sisters, “The real me, has always understood academics, and could of skipped many times grade wise. But I didn’t cause I knew you’d all scorn me for even thinking I could be smarter than his oh so talented sisters.”
“Lincoln…” He turned his head to Lori, who immediately closed her mouth.
“The real me, never really liked girls romantically. But how could I say that, when you all tried to get me to date my ex-bully!”
“Did you not think to consider her attitude towards me? She cared more of her reputation as the ‘tough girl’ than any of my feelings what so ever! It took Bobby of all people to stop her bullying at me after I rejected her. Yeah, I did, and you know why I never reveled such? It’s cause I knew you’d blame me again if Bobby so much as broke up with you. So I had to do it in front of him just to get the message!”
“I hid my attraction towards boys more than girls for years, and you know why? It’s cause I’d knew you’d tease me to death on it! Oh, but if Luna comes out as bi, she’s supported and still loved. But if I were to have? You’d never let me hear the end of it!”
The girls were now on tears, even Luan cut off the recording without realizing it.
“The real me, wants to make be a comic book writer, but I couldn’t revel that. You all get trophies galore of your talents, and if I had one of those, let alone related like mine does with Lily’s in art and Lucy’s in writing, you’d all scorn me for ‘taking away the spotlight’. Well news flash, YOU’VE HAD THE FREAKING SPOTLIGHT SINCE YOU ALL WERE BORN AND EVEN NOW! I only got when I was a baby, but even then, I remember, you all stole it in instances.”
His eyes glistened in tears, but he won’t let them fall, “I’m no hero, a nobody, and a fool. A fool to think I’d ever be satisfied being in your all shadows for the rest of my life!”
With that, Clyde quickly took off his and Lincoln’s helmets, bringing back to reality, back to Clyde’s house.
Lincoln didn’t say a word, just sat there, staring at the now blank tv screen.
Clyde could only hug his friend, his dads finding the pair in a silent embrace, fast asleep.
Lincoln’s face now streaming with tears.

Master - Chapter 5b
Tumblr media
*Warning: Adult Content*
"Are we done now?" he asks exasperatedly. "Can I get back to Arias now?"
"You quite like that... Elf don't you?" I question, raising a brow at the uncanny amount of excitement that zinged through him.
"He's special Linc," he replies, eyes sparkling from his own words. "Something about him is just divine."
I cringe at Malcolm's purr, his body basically floating off the ground with affection.
I try to hide my disgust with my reply.
"That's good, I'm happy for you," I say awkwardly and frown only deeper when Malcolm frowns at me as well. "It's weird not insulting you."
"I feel it too," He replies in agreement.
"Just be careful with him, he is still an Elf," I remind him before making my way out of the room, with Malcolm beside me.
"An Elf who hasn't tried to remove my collar," Malcolm says proudly while all but skipping. "He must like me some."
"Or he's in deep shit and knows how to hide."
Malcolm's easy smile fades as his eyebrows pull together in thought, steps faltering as I push the doors to the room we'd left the pair of friends inside, open.
Before I can apologize for my rash words, our boys eyes' were on us with completely opposing looks.
Kalem beamed at me as he sat up in a hurry, presenting himself with a small, hopeful smile while Arias remained in his position in front of the television, eyes darkening at the sight of me but lightening only a fraction when they drifted to Malcolm.
"What did you do to him?" Arias asks, his voice sounding bored while still void of any emotions.
Yet his eyes hovered on Malcolm's droopy form longer than usual.
"Nothing," Malcolm answers before I can.
Arias glances between us, furious gold eyes narrowing as he studies Malcolm.
Pulling to his feet he scratches angrily at his collar before moving his body like a smooth liquid to the boxed furniture which demanded assembling.
"It hurts my neck to watch the shows from the ground, come help me put these together Imp," Arias calls, barely shooting Malcolm a long enough glance to catch the way his face lit up at being spoken to directly.
‘Was this the first time the elf paid him any attention?’
He basically ran to his side making the Elf bare his pointy teeth with anger but he didn't step away.
Only began unboxing, watching Malcolm carefully to keep the innocent glee there.
Maybe the Elf did like him some.
"Master?"
I look down to find Kalem standing below me, his movements had to be quieter than a ghost's because I hadn't even seen him get up.
He smiles up at me, eyes bright as I study him.
"Are you having fun with your friend?" I ask and he nods quickly, glancing back to look at his friend.
"Yes, Master," he cheers. "Thank you for letting me see him."
"Of course, you can see him whenever you wish," I promise and Kalem immediately bombards me with a hug.
I was still getting accustomed to thus display of happiness, it stemmed more warmth within me than it did discomfort.
"Why can't we be like that?" Malcolm questions, balancing several beams, while the Elf examined the booklet of instructions.
Malcolm looks to the Elf with pleading eyes and a slight pout that only made his opposite scowl in disgust.
"I'd prefer to saw off my own ears," he spits with his thick accent that was still new to my ears.
I'd never heard anything quite like it before meeting Arias.
But then again, I'd never met an Elf before Arias.
"Why the ears?" Malcolm asks with a confused frown. "Most people are dramatic and say the balls or tongue. Why'd you have to be different and say ears?"
His stupidity was so astounding it had me resting my chin on Kalem's head with a groan and Arias mumbling in his mother tongue with obvious annoyance, even Kalem released a small disappointed sigh.
"What?" Malcolm asks looking around.
I redirect my attention from the idiot to Kalem, raising his chin so he'd look at me.
He followed easily and waited for my next breath as if his own deepened on it.
"I have something to handle, you can stay here and help them build there furniture," I explain, wincing only slightly as I watch the joy ease from his gaze. "I showed you how to use your phone, call me when you're ready to come home."
"You're leaving?" he questions with a small whimper, gripping onto my shirt tighter.
"Yes," I answer now slightly confused. "I thought you wanted to spend time with your friend."
"I-I do, but..." he wanders off. "You're leaving me, Master?" he asks once again.
"Only for a time. There things which need to be attended to and I can't have you there for them, besides, I don't need to be here if your spending time with the Elf." I make sure to send a discreet wink to the enraged Elf.
I refused to call him by his name, for the simple reason that it bothered him.
"B-B-But M-Master..."
"You'll be fine with Malcolm and your little friend," I say before taking a step back, separating us slowly though it still seems to completely alarm him as he begins trembling.
"You're fine Kalem."
I take a few steps back towards the door, turning to make my exit.
"M-Master," Kalem whimpers making me turn instantaneously.
My eyes widen slightly when I find Kalem's tense form shaking in his spot, his eyes freely watery as he stares at me.
I could almost hear the slight plea without him having the words to voice them.
I sigh internally as I walk back to him and pull him into my chest.
He instantly relaxes as he releases a shaky breath, small sobs coming out of him as his small fingers grip onto my shirt desperately.
I rub his back soothingly and press a kiss to his forehead, the actions taking their time to calm him.
'Guess I'd have to put off killing Diablos for another day.'

You got me thinking today, from one of your answers...... I'm back again.
ChayLynn's demise, why is this squarely Brook Lynn's fault? I see it as a two way street. Chase's excuse for doing the singing was mainly to pay the bills. He didn't like it but he did it for her sake (blind love I guess?), his justification for being mad at her for not writing the letter to help get his badge back seemed over the top. He witnesses Linc harassing Blaze and does nothing (delicate genius 🙄). He submits to Brook Lynn's demands and keeps quiet and keeps on singing.. She devises a plan only to get herself played in the end. Chase should take take some culpability here too, he saw an attitude shift in Brook Lynn, they werent on the same page anymore and nada, just went on trusting the process, right? Taking away his agency and playing God, sir not today. No use in putting those two back together if that doesn't happen.. The real stakes of this story gets burried under the fantasy fame singing fluff GH shoved at us for six months! Only notables were a ChayLynn "romance" and a "break up". Quotations because was it even real? Their pretend business deal overshadowed their real relationship. The very thing they both were concerned about, now look. So going after Linc and getting Brook Lynn's songs back should now serve as the "real story" to invest in. I'm like, there better be a huge payoff for subjecting Brook Lynn to self sabotage and Chase singing like a David Hasselhoff reject lol. Endgame is eminent, but ugh... I don't expect them to get the Sprina treatment . Lol Do you?
All this progress that was made for Brook Lynn only to undue it quickly after. Like let her bask in her newfound glow up geez. We can't count on Willow, she's busy doing something boring lol. Despite Brook Lynn's downfall, i still believe she can come out of this upcoming arc victorious. Linc should be the only villain ready to sport an orange jumpsuit soon. Focus more on her continuing to overcome taking back her pride and dignity, her inability to sing (her true passion) and channel it into a new passion something she can be proud of.. acknowledge that Chase was her stand-in, he was living her broken dreams and her emotional stuggles that came with it. Songwriting is still viable too cause her boo thang said so.. Isn't Blaze a direct reflection of herself when she endured Linc's harassment? Get her unstuck from herself and make her an advocate for the silent victim(s) of sexual harassment, this tweenage behavior is so unbecoming. Is this how they plan to "continue their love story"? The writing is so lackluster but okay. Well add she needs to be her own badass hero first, courageous BLQ needs to re-emerge. No more of Chase's butt hurt brooding. We want to take him seriously when he's reinstated this time for good; maybe solve one or two cases in five years time. lol But i digress.
I didn't want Maxie having the talk with Brook Lynn. If not her mother, Olivia or Ned would have been better suited. Again Chase had already chosen her (his actions/his words), but it's his struggle with forgiveness and broken trust that he needs to overcome. Lets start with seeing Brook Lynn shedding her selfish/childish habits. She's in love, but she won't have reason to share that with him now.. let's her actions speak for itself. The lack of supporting characters and platonic friendships for Brook Lynn is tragic. Comparatively her and Spencer are loosely paralleled but who gets the better writing thus far should say something about the writing team wrt attention to details.
sidenote: I want OG!ChayLynn back w/ the slow sizzling romance. Linc coming back? 👎 But maybe it's a coming full-circle kinda thing idk?
Frank Valentini, I'm warning you. Don't drag this on another year ffs! *meditating* woo saaah!
The writers seem to have a "fun" habit of making pairs where one is thrown under the bus and stripped of agency while the other is domineering and/or controlling. ChaLynn is the newest victim, and unlike other pairs, they did NOT start that way. Since they got together, and since this Linc story has gone on, Chase is a doormat, while Brook takes a disproportionate amount of control over them and their romance. It reminds me of prime CaOss. I also hope there is a big and substantial payoff in this nonsense because otherwise, they went out of their way to sabotage what was a pretty good pair. And honestly, no, I don't see them getting the Sprina treatment.
I have no doubt Brook will be the winner in this story, because how on Earth would a random dayplayer get this much victory and presence??? No shot. And absolutely - her purpose should've being a songwriter and focusing on that while somehow getting her songs back. And plus, when she realized there was a more worthwhile fight in suing Linc for widespread sexual harassment, that would've been a FAR better direction to go. But nope! Brook agreed to an NDA for her songs back - awful writing. ChaLynn should be the Songwriter & the PI.
Yeah Maxie was kinda the last person giving love advice and diagnosis, considering who she supports as love interests and has even been with (minus Spinelli & Nathan). Chase needs to learn to trust again and Brook needs to tap into her faux-mother behavior. And YES she needs friends. Maxie is fine, Michael is...blegh, have her mingle with more people her age like the Davis girls!
I, too, want ChaLynn back, not whatever the writers made of them. And know Frank, Chris, and Dan, we'll be waiting another two years 😒

Day 10
So yesterday, I conjured up my ex-boyfriend, Lincoln. I wondered what it would be and who I would be like if I was still with Linc. Would I have gotten married in 2014? Cringe. I don't think I would have been able to. I think he got a little crazy and was so controlling. Or maybe he was always like that and I never noticed? Maybe because when I was younger, the things he dictated were fun. He suggested what I wear (very, very uncomfortable heels!) what I ate, and I even stopped being friends with a girl he didn't like. But... I don't know. I was so young, and I burned to be a WRITER. Nothing else mattered. And Lincoln was a musician, he had been one for fifteen years. He had musician friends. He was a serious artist. Living with him gave me time to focus on writing. We didn't really do anything else--I remember he even commented that I actually meant it when I said I didn't watch television. Now I watch tv every night! Bah! That has to stop, especially now that there isn't even a show to watch anymore. My partner and I can just read together, that sounds really nice. I mean, I do wish we didn't have to read Dune (yuck!) but I just don't really enjoy television. And it makes me tired. And I could be writing! Lincoln would never stand for this. I think I could compromise with my current partner by getting a fun treat to eat while reading.
The thing that Lincoln would be really proud of is if I got my chapter done every week. I could turn in my chapter every Thursday night (because Friday morning is my latte day) before I retire for the night. That would really kickstart things.
Linc: Discipline (wagging his finger)
Me: (smile) I was just thinking about that quote I used to have: discipline is passion caught on fire.
Linc: What do you think changed? Why did you stop? Do you think it was because I stopped being in your life and so you stopped writing my book?
Me: I get a thrill out of you saying it's your book. Maybe I shouldn't. It's very arrogant. But I think it really makes it real. It's not just in my head. It's your book. I'm doing this for you. And I think... no one else cared. No else is demanding me to get it done. My partner doesn't care. My mother actually doesn't want me to get it done (even though it's partly her fault I have so many fucking college loans!!)
Linc: So then let's say it's still my book (flashes a charming smile.) You know, that is what I always loved about you. Your drive. You still have it, Mama Writes a Novel. You just have to know you've got it.
Me: Yes. I love that. It's like something Elizabeth Gilbert once said on her podcast.
Linc (eyes flashing) So, do it! Do it now! Do it as if our lives depend on it! Because it does!
Me: Okay I will
Linc: DO. IT. NOW!!
