In your bugstuck au, you said that lime-bloods have resurfaced on another planet in the Empire. Does this mean that there are other Nursery Worlds in the Empire other than Alternia itself, or does each planet have their own 'Kid Sector' where children are raised before assimilating into adult society?

THANKS for the great question!! Sorry for the long answer but i might have mispoken or changed my headcannons; limebloods have re-emerged in colonies outside The Empire. Propaganda denies the existence of the multiple settlements outside of their domains, but this is untrue. As a result of one of these cultures deconstructing casteism and allowing their Jadebloods freedom to live outside the convents and reproduce, a few young limebloods have hatched!

CAESER and CALIGULA are a pair of planets locked in BINARY ROTATION with each other. These planets were colonized by gold-blooded helmsman revolutionaries. The helmsman and their allies planned and collected all they needed from ALTERNIA and elsewhere settle the planets, then one goldblood sacrificed his life to create a powerful psychic barrier around the planets. He was posthumously declared the GOLDEN EMPEROR. No seadwellers were trusted by the revolutionaries, and as a result no violet or fuschia bloods live there. The smaller of the two planets, CAESER, has a massive megastructure city created by combining several grounded ships. This structure has three tiers: below the earth are huge caverns with trolls aged 1-6 sweeps and their lusus, acting as a nursery layer that keeps them safe from older trolls. In the center of the structure is a giant institution for trolls aged 6-9 sweeps, including dorms for them to live, divided by bloodcolor. They're moved up more quickly than on Alternia due to lusus underpopulation, and are allowed to visit their lusus and their sibling once a month (a lusus's next charge is considered a trolls sibling.) At the top is a palace where psychic-gifted goldbloods live separate from all other hemotypes and raise their heirs. Adult trolls migrate to the larger planet CALIGULA unless invited to stay at the school as instructors. The planet is otherwise dominated by fields and two seas, with the birthing caverns and mothergrub hidden somewhere beneath the fields.

The GOLD RULE binary system, following the teachings of the sufferer as whispered among helmsmen, abolished the hemocaste system; but many beliefs about bioessentialism of blood colors remain. Trolls are referred to as warmbloods and coolbloods, as opposed to being ranked, and are somewhat permitted to seek their own callings in life. The dorms house trolls by blood color, which is intended to keep warmbloods that are prey-imitating safe from predator-imitating coldbloods. Class schedules are also determined by blood color, with trolls needing to apply for classes outside of their schedule if they’re interested. For example, Floria, a petal mantis mimic and purpleblood, really keeps his head down to stay in his painting classes he adores. His scythes are wrapped with linen to keep them from intimidating warmbloods. Otherwise, most his assigned classes are physical and combat-based. Some of his fellow purplebloods disrespect his interests and most warmbloods he shares classes with ignore him. While the hierarchical system has been abolished, struggles remain.

Intrusive thought for you: could the limeblood genocide have been Alternia's "Butlerian Jihad", riffing on Dune's anti-computer cults? as a means of explaining the green goo inside Alternian computers and general adherence to biotech/psychics for automation. Equius building robots only to ritually destroy them feels in line with this, in a loose sense

as in, a reimagining of the sopor theory wherein blood of the lime caste didn't just become bed slime, but also the data pus alternian computers run on? i bandied the idea around last time i was thinking about limebloods - somewhat jeeringly, but as far as limeblood conspiracies go it's probably among those i find the most believable. "lord english paints his conquests with his sister's green blood" is pretty solid ground and "there's patriarchal significance to the ooze that fills alternia's machines" is a pet tenet of mine, so there's certainly merit.

to my mind, i guess that would be more of a reverse butlerian jihad? where the mentats are done away with so that they can be replaced with far more ruly machines. the reversal speaks to my assessment that the extermination of the limebloods should be in some way linked to the extinction of humanity on earth, where the condesce consistently had to replace unreliable old biological machines with robotics; and the comparison to dune's jihad seems consistent with an ongoing theme we see on alternia where dramatic political change occurs as a reaction to social upheavel. first war with the signless sets the scene for hivebent's arc, and then the summoner's rebellion turns alternia into the creche planet we're familiar with; it makes sense to presume, as many have in the past, that the limebloods were done away with in response to some uprising of the organics that mirrors the rise of the machines on earth?

If Fiamet really is a limeblood, it seems likely another reason they were wiped out is being prone to mutations. The Vantases have their blood colour, and Calliope’s limeblood OC has white hair, and just look at Fiamet. Boldir is possibly a lime too, and she has her single front tooth, which is less of a clue because troll teeth are weird anyway, but possibly it is a clue. Marvus is probably a lime and doesn’t have anything obvious mutated, but he’s psychically manipulating how the viewer sees him anyway (see the narration calling him “modest height” and “lanky”, and his horns flipping sides).

YES I DO HAVE LORE So it's been a while since I've refined it, but the lore is about how the limes were able just *barely* survive becoming extinct

The majority have been wiped out by the highbloods, though there are few who remain in hiding. My idea tied into the idea that Karkat is a mutant limeblood.

So first of all, Limebloods in this specific scenario would be the most LIKELY to spawn mutations/mutants (Simply to tie into Karkat and the Signless). Because of Alternia's hatred for mutations and mutants, this was one of the few factors into why the hell Condy wanted them gone. They were simply a breeding ground for rogue trolls with off colored mutations. Before extinction, the limes were 4th on the spectrum, meaning they were *very* common, which meant a higher rate for mutations. And considering canonically we learn seadwellers ARE a mutation of normal trolls

Condy, a seadweller (as well as the ruler and a fucking OLD fuchsia at that) would know damn well that a mutation could cause issues if they are left to grow and evolve like seadwellers did. As well as the fact that there are just mutations that would be a damn hindrance to her empire in general, if they aren't outright powerful.

But given the lime's in canon going extinct due to some alleged powerful well, powers, I've come up with the idea of "what if that power was less so strength-wise, and more so just....scary to Condy's empire." So to tie it into the idea that they are the most likely to spawn and spread mutations, I was thinking "what if they had the ability to disguise as another caste" and by that I mean by blood color. HOWEVER, they cannot change the heat temperature of their blood, so if they were to disguise as a teal or something you would know something's off if you touched them (or a drone scanned them)

This shouldn't be too hard to imagine how it could pose a threat to Condy's empire, especially with the rare few who can manage to manipulate their blood well enough to pass as another caste (a VERY RARE few can change the temp, mind you). This could cause espionage or inside attacks to the empire and Condy's ship, therefore *they gotta go*

And with the execution of the limes leaves only a handful of survivors, either from getting lucky from hiding away from the drones, or by pulling of a disguise of another caste for the rare ones. Only few remain, and only few are able to slip past the genetic gate to be hatched by the mother grub. Barely any of them can make it out of the caverns, unless they are helped by a particularly rebellious or kind jadeblood.

Limeblood Headcanons

The job that Limebloods used to be groomed into, much like how Burgundy Trolls were groomed into butlers, etc., was a caste-specific career known as Pacifiers.

A Pacifier’s job was to serve Highbloods while also providing emotional stability and support. They more or less were caretakers for Highbloods.

This was different from filling the moirailgence quadarant, as the romance aspect wasn’t there. They were simply “hired” to use their powers.

Their efficiency in their job relied on their caste-specific psionics; Limebloods are able to get into the minds of Trolls and influence their emotional state. This is different from Cerulean mind control; where the Cerulean can influence physical actions, Limes can only influence via mental projections of emotions. In essence, they are reverse empaths.

Another difference is that where Ceulean mind control influences castes lower than themselves, Limes are able to influence any caste.

Because of the Pacifier role, the stereotype for Limeboods was that they were a “natural born moirailgence” and thus were commonly expected to be the therapist or mother friend of everyone.

Around the Limeblood genocide era, the Government heavily pushed the moirailgence quadrant as a replacement. They didn’t create the quadrant, but they heavily encouraged Trolls to have a moirail during this time so that the Pacifier role was seen as unnecessary, thus making it easier for Highbloods to turn in or execute their Limes.

The Hemoanon identity arose around this time. While the identity provided some protection for surviving Mutants and Limes, the Government restricted much of their rights due to failure of “proper identification.” During this time, Hemoanons were widely discriminated against, but due to not knowing whether or not the anon in question was a Highblood, no one could truly harm them.

As such, some Limebloods still exist today, though are greatly endangered and rare to find. Many Trolls believe that Limebloods are extinct.

ok so i woke up in the middle of the night with this theory on my mind, idk how it came to be, idk who made it, idk if it was a vision i got from the gods themselfs, but here, imma do a prometheus and spread this bs around

ok so we all know troll will smith right? the “ green threshecutioner cadet who sasses up the bluebloods in his flaysquad pretty good. ”[page 2008] ok so, i realized that it is possible to theorize that troll will smith is secretly a limeblood, but since we know so little of limebloods its still hard to prove or disprove this theory so like, sorry if this sounds batshit insane XP

ok so, according to calliope “ The limebloods reportedly had some unusual names. ”[page 5101] and by troll standards of having 6/6 names “troll will smith” would sound like a very weird name ngl, ik ik theres troll adam sander too but were focusing on troll will smith in here lol, ok this was what started my curiosity and then i started looking troll will smith up and i sorta realized he shared some characteristics we associate with karkat, nubby horns, a preference for sickles, proud  threshecutioner, good social skills and the ability to avoid culling like a pro(possible blood powers? idk tbh) and thinking that troll will smith is karkat’s hero, him also being a limeblood would only add to that, maybe karkat saw the guy like an example that you can become a  threshecutioner without revealing your blood color, that there is a chance for anyone to get into the top and all. its also worthy to note that karkat called troll will smith a “greenblood“, wich like, there are fucking 3-4 bloods that could be called “greenblood” mr. vantas, nice clarification XP

and finaly, my best source of evidence, the logo for the “thrash prince of bel-air” is lime colored :P

Hmm... What with the new information about Act 3 coming out, thinking I'm just going to go ahead and share a thought I had about lime bloods in general (I don't think we have any new info about them, this is just me musing in text), and we'll see over time if there's any weight or merit to this headcanon (if we get any additional information at all, who knows). I think lime bloods are more than likely to have some kind of genetic mutation to them that could manifest in a number of forms.

I'd go further into this but spoilers, a ton of speculation, the current internet climate, and being tired and on mobile aren't helping lol, so I'll only elaborate if people ask. But I just wanted to get that out while it's still somewhat speculative and theoretical territory
