just finished binging the entirety of high school musical: the musical: the series in six days and now i'm going to ramble about it for longer than anyone would care to read. it's gonna be generally positive but definitely nini and olivia unfriendly so if you dont wanna read that... dont ♥️♥️

so i suggested to my sister a while ago that i wanted to watch the show bc the videos that youtube commentary channel "pretty much it" did for it were hysterical. and she had watched the first couple of eps by herself and was like "i dont think you'll like it. its not as funny as they make it seem". but we finally decided to start it anyway

(also i dont know the entire casts' real names so i'll mostly refer to them as their character names)

season 1:

that first season was kind of rough. especially the pilot. it got better over time but its definitely my least favorite season over all. im not even a fan of high school musical so it lacked the nostalgia enjoyment for me

and i definitely did not like nini and her main character syndrome. and sorry to say but i think olivia is the least talented cast member over all. pretty privilege is so real like she didnt deserve to be the break out star she was just the most marketable. kourtney and ashlyn's voices were so strong and stellar, and they might not've been Dancers but they could definitely move. and gina was the best dancer in the fucking world and while i do think her voice wasnt as good, she could obviously still sing. nini's best talent moments were when olivia was shining thru imo (that one taking it for gra-a-a-anted song comes to mind first) but i was not here for the acoustic numbers and honestly i dont think she was a great actress

so i definitely wasnt a fan of the whole nini ricky gina ej love square. i know its a tried and true teen show staple but goddamn it got tiring. i just never liked rini and i didnt like how nini treated him right from the start asklfjlds. she was also rude as hell to everyone else, especially gina, being all passive aggressive towards her. literally saying she wanted to kick gina in the face bc gina is a good dancer and she's intimidated?? but also all the talk in general about gina being intimidating or aggressive or a bad seed like ??? the microaggressions were off the charts

not to mention the fucking macroaggression of kourtney's entire s1 "character". i think hattie mcdaniel had a more nuanced role in gone with the wind. it was so fucking painful to watch. she didnt exist to be anything other than nini's personal soundboard, cheerleader, stylist, life coach, and whatever else she needed in the moment. thank god they gave her a real character by s2 bc kourtney was way too talented, too gorgeous, too charismatic to be forced into the role of nini's handmaid the whole time

i dont really have much to say about s1 cause i wasnt into it at the time lol. it was okay. all the actors did a good job, it was kind of funny, the only song that really stood out was miss jenn's fantasy sequence song with lucas. the actually high school musical show they put on was painful to watch but thats high school theater for you babyyy

season 2:

this was such an improvement from s1 and my favorite season over all. there were a handful of eps in the middle where i was constantly like "this is my fave ep" "ok this is my fave ep" "ok now THIS is my fave ep" it was a delight. i love beauty and the beast and was so happy for ashlyn getting belle, and everyone else was very well cast. although idk why seb was chip and not cogsworth?? my sister said it was bc disney didnt want to confirm that they were gay 💔💔

the music was obviously better bc we've got fucking alan menken on the track. all the numbers from the show were perfect. i wish ej had gotten to sing the gaston reprise bc he didnt get to reach his full gaston potential and i think we deserved that 💔

the debacle with the whole rose song was sooo annoying. nini deserved to be that fork. she dragged the whole show down like it was always so much better when she wasnt there aklfjlksd

the rivalry with the other school was lots of fun. i liked all the new characters. my favorite original song was miss jenn's number with derek hough

season 3:

this season was likeee a pleasant mid for me??? idk it was fine and fun but it didnt have anything in it that blew me away. i think this season was screaming for extra episodes more than any other, since we were missing a chunk of the cast. we deserved to cut back to salt lake every now and again and see what the non-camp-goers were up to

kourtney and gina as elsa and anna was a dream. not the biggest fan of frozen but they did a good job. everyone looked so cute in their costumes and kourtney's solo was amazinggg. the new characters were fun but i dont have strong feelings towards them lol. but i loved getting to explore kourtney's character and her struggles with anxiety, that was very real

them filming a documentary was funny bc have they not been filming one this whole time? my headcanon was that the to-the-camera interviews were all in their heads and everyone was practicing for when they became famous lol but then ricky ruined that in s4 by acknowledging them directly rip 💔

i liked after their show ended and they all got sharpies and wrote their names on the walls back stage. that was definitely a potent theater kid memory and got me a lil teary eyed

i liked ej taking on the role of director and copying miss jenn's hand holding and high pitched singing at the first read thru. i liked ej and gina together i thought they were cute. it was disappointing that the show wouldnt commit to them for even a minute and they always had to be teetering on the edge between being a couple and not. that was frustrating

and girl just get nini out of there already. olivia wanted nini to be there as much as i did. she was sooo over it by s3

umm favorite original song was corbin bluh's basketball song

season 4:

very very fun season again. loved the chaos of filming the movie at the school while school is happening. as if every movie set in a real school doesnt shoot in the summer. oh well. gotta have a season!

there was too much mack for me personally. i dont think he gave wanted they wanted to be given. i needed more dani tho. her actress was so good at bad acting. she couldve been a much bigger comedic presence also she looked like a cross between sofia carson and emma roberts but sometimes just looked like a latina emma roberts ??? is that just me??

and still the lack of seb and big red at the beginning like ?? did they specifically piss off the writers so they had to banish them for nearly half the show?

loved that the little girl from camp was there. she stole the show. and maddox and jet are fine alskfjsldk i just didnt form strong opinions on them but i do like them

ashlyn's "i need to give her mouth to mouth! AS A FRIEND!" was the funniest line of the entire show hands down

so happy they finally had a halloween episode! it was lots of fun and everyone looked so cute in their costumes uwu. but that guy from camp that was stalking carlos??? that was so bizarre and it never paid off likeee what was the reason

and gina's mom was pissing us off so bad. she was acting wild this season. like gina has to focus on her studies so no boys but she can work from sun up to sun down on a movie lmao. and her mom had the nerve to be like "well i never came to your shows bc that was just high school theater but THIS is a movie" like wooow. and i swear it felt like she was about to sell gina off to mack bc he was famous. and when she started with that "porters dont wait around" mess and ricky cleared her with a quickness with that whole "well i seem to remember gina waiting around for you on opening night" like damn

and omg when mack was over for dinner and ricky came over with chocolates but saw him thru the window. i was like ugh fuck its gonna be the stupid thing where he sees this and gets the wrong idea and its gonna be a stupid wedge between him and gina that doesnt need to be there bc no one can communicate BUT THEN gina sees him outside and runs to him and i think i screamed bc i was so relieved aslkjskl but their kiss was very cinematic and cute ♥️♥️

and omg on sunday night im sitting there trudging thru s1 like "yeah starting this might've been a mistake" and by friday im bawling my eyes out bc the story is ending 💔💔 sofia deserved the whole fucking egot and a golden globe too for that scene at the end. and i was SO invested in her acting career and like pleading with the show for her not to pass on it and stay at school but fucking genius that she is found a way to do both!!!

and i honestly didnt know what i wanted miss jenn to do like i was rooting for her both ways but of course she staaayed. and the show ended and it had the "skip credits" button and my sister was like "oh there's something after the credits?" and then i saw "for good" listed at the end of the songs and i screamed again. and was bawling again when everyone was singing that. who knew this silly little show would have such a death grip on me by the end???

so over all it was really very good and not a waste of time. i liked pretty much every character and it was just a lot of fun! would definitely watch it again

my over all season ranking would be two, four, three, and one is dead ass last

my favorite characters from the start were gina, miss jenn, carlos, ashlyn, and big red lowkey alskfjdskl. kourtney got up there in s2 and beyond. and i do really like ricky, ej, seb, they're my secondary faves. (kinda wish ricky had more to do bc aside from his parents, i feel like every single one of his issues had to do with a love triangle and i just wish the character was granted a little more texture) and the camp kids were good, they were fine, they're like third-iary faves. and the only ones i dislike are gina's mom and nini lol

and i wasnt like screaming over any ships but generally i liked them all except rini. ej and gina was cute, i liked ashlyn and maddox, i liked ashlyn and big red, carlos and seb probably were my faves if i had to pick, i liked kourtney with howie (wish we saw him again) and jet, and yes by the end i was rooting for rina they just won me over this season and were super cute and im glad they ended where they did ♥️

I Feel Soooo At Home

I have soooo much to say about my latest visit to Africa, especially since it's been awhile for me, since my last visit.

And seeing as how this is A) a new country that I'm visiting, & B) the country that I'm planning to make my home, these thoughts are especially potent right now.

First, Blacks in the West really can't fathom what it's like to see nothing but your own face reflected back at you. Seeing people in roles of power who are Black just like you, gives a sense of comfort, belonging, & accomplishment that you just will never get in Amerikkka & other white places.

Seeing managers, executives, airplane pilots, & others all around you is just mesmerizing.

I'm gonna try to get more pics & vids, but seeing these people carry on their daily endeavors with a humble dignity & honor is to die for. People in Africa (& especially in Rwanda 🇷🇼) are sooo well dressed. And I'm not talking about expensive brand name clothes either. I've seen youths coming from both high school & university, & I have yet to see anyone sagging their pants or looking like professional dumpster divers, like we glorify in Amerikkka. The youths certainly have their own flair, but it's nothing outlandish like what we are used to.

Hear what, Rwanda 🇷🇼 traffic is terrible. Especially with all the moto riders everywhere. However, what you NEVER hear is cars honking endlessly, or blaring music, or people getting road rage. There's just a level of patience that this country has, that's very stress free, that I deeply appreciate.

And people here are not loud, like AT ALL. During the first day of my business mission, those of us that are not from here had to tell the Rwandan speakers to speak up a bit, & you can see this was a challenge for them. Everyone is very soft-spoken, & no one raises their voice. It's something that's initially jarring for me, because everyone in Amerikkka is screaming that the top of their lungs, talking over you & whatnot, so you have to compensate by doing it too, even if you really don't want to.

But here, everyone's quiet humility makes you wanna be the same way, because you know you're gonna get your turn to speak & be heard at some point.

And the women......🥰

Brothas, yall know how we see something amazing walking down the street, & we just gotta turn our head to look? Well, imagine having that feeling with nearly EVERY. SINGLE. WOMAN. 😱😭

And the women are very humble, but very driven. They work are, & are not flashy. They have braids, 'Fros, & even the low fades, that all look AMAZING. And none of them are revealing anything, & they don't have to.

Also, the African beauty that I see everywhere, is something that's almost taken for granted here. I have yet to see a man here turning around breaking their necks the way we do in Amerikkka. The Black Woman's Beauty is just an accepted aspect of life here.

But trust & believe.... One of these women is gonna be my wife. 👸🏿

People stare alot, but that's because I know I stand out here. And if you've seen my pics, you could probably understand why.... But suffice to say. My West African phenotype (Jamaicans typically have heavy Ghanaian ancestry) is drastically different from their typical East African phenotype. But overall they are extremely friendly & helpful, once they move past their initial shyness.

The fruits & veggies are soooo amazing here. It truly does remind me of Jamaica 🇯🇲..... Not like that poison garbage that passes for food that you get in the markets in Amerikkka. 🤮

I'll have more to say later, as I will be here for almost 3wks. But for the first time in a long time, I truly feel at home. 🥰

But yall can stay in Hell if you want. ✌🏿

1. Chairlift - Funny story, theres a lot of music that I’ve just refused to listen to again because it reminds me of a specific time in my life. One off-limits album that I used to love is Moth by Chairlift. I randomly discovered recently that I can listen to it again without it feeling tainted so that’s exactly what I’ve been doing! I’ve had that album on REPEAT!

2. flor - One of my favorite bands since high school. I adore the lead singer’s voice so so much. It’s just really lovely. Check them out!

3. TWICE - Yay! It’s Twice! I love them! Honestly it’s been a little while since a Korean Twice release has really clicked for me but With YOU-th really really clicks. So happy! (☆_☆)

4. Liang Lawrence - honestly I don’t know a thing about her but I found her on one of those “made for you” spotify playlists. Really like unposted letters, really like the pilot, feel positively but not strongly about the rest of her songs. She did get bumped up in my streams because I know that I fell asleep with her on loop once.

5. Caroline Polachek - The deluxe edition of her latest album came out this month! Or well the “Everasking Edition” whatever thats supposed to mean. Desire I Want To Turn Into You is really good and I was happy to revisit it! The added songs are really nice too. Listened to it quite a bit this month :)

1. Moth to the Flame by Chairlift - Ugh this song is just fantastic. Caroline Polachek’s voice is so hauntingly beautiful and she’s just doing her beautiful thing all over this dance-y beat. It just elevates what would already be a good song to a whole other level. That basically describes the whole album really.

2. Dangerous by TEN - AREN’T YOU A DIVA?! This is so good! Congrats to Mr. Ten on his solo debut. Absolutely infectious groove.

3. Show U Off by Chairlift - More from this same Chairlift album. Sooo good! This one is especially fun and funky.

4. want u back by joan - still here for the second month in a row huh? Lets see if it can make it a hat trick! I do love this song

5. YOU GET ME by TWICE - Mmmm yessss! Hearing that people didn’t like this album is insane to me like wth. Anyway You Get Me is the perfect closer to a skip free EP and is probably my favorite kpop song this year so far. It’s very much like.. whatever that genre that SM said RIIZE was supposed to be? Do you guys remember that? Emotional Pop?

soup what are your veronica mars opinions?! i need to knowwww (i haven’t met anyone else that likes VM in sooo long)

OH MY GOD yes so many. First of all I love the show, it will always hold a special place in my heart. I still remember watching the pilot the day it aired!

My biggest gripe with VM is the overuse of sexual violence as a plot device, and I'm not sure the writers were well equipped enough to handle it very well. Like having the identity of Veronica's rapist be a "twist" at the end of season 2 after she had already reached some sort of closure about the whole thing in S1 was just mean and gross.

Then to have sexual violence be a main theme of the first part of season 3 as well... Even in high school with my limited media literacy and bad taste (I watched glee willingly at the time) I was like... come on guys. What is happening in the writers room! Is there no other high stakes plot you can come up with?!

The best part of the show was and always will be the friendship between Veronica and Wallace. Number one friends of all time, even when one or both of them are being dicks.

favorite thing about them: ok weall... cancel me for liking nick. but dear god i really do find him compelling. i dont think he's irredeemable i think he was a cocky guy who got in over his head and brought his squad down alongside him. when you're like 21 and put in charge of this elite squadron and regarded as a hero at the academy... of course you're going to think you're invincible. and of course you're going to think you're doing the right thing all the way until the end. least favorite thing about them: honestly it boils down to he was a good guy but a bad leader. being a pilot.. especially at that level. you're supposed to be headstrong and a risk taker and do all these stupid things. and either you pull it off perfectly and everyone is amazed or you burn out and crash, which is also fine, because you were the only one in harms way. his issue was that he didn't realize he wasn't just risking his life he was risking the lives of everyone on the squad. random headcanon: oh he definitely came from a pilot family. like i can tell from 10 miles away.

unpopular opinion: he wasnt IRREDEEMABLE -_- every1 who is liek "well everyone on nova squadron was so TERRIBLE they didn't even care their friend died they only cared about their careers!!!" needs to understand that like of course they all wanted to shift the blame onto josh. not cuz they hated him. but if they realized that it wasnt joshs fault, that they didn't survive because they were better pilots and that truly any of them could've died up there. AND when you throw in the high stress trial that happens RIGHT after their friend dies!!! man what did you expect.

favorite thing about them: oh god SITO. she's wants so bad to prove herself after what happened and is eager but also subdued and very by the book. the entire way she acts in lower decks just makes you wonder what she was like before. for a bajoran during the occupation to end up as an elite pilot in starfleet- you know there's a fascinating story there. it's just so tragic that if she wasn't as blinded by starfleet doing everything exactly right so she wouldn't mess up again.. she might not have been so ready to take the covert assignment. like the only way she could redeem herself is through death its sooo. sito. least favorite thing about them: that they didnt bring her back on ds9 #LAME. on one hand it mightve ruined the value of lower decks as an episode on the other hand. she deserved to be there and. UGHHHHH nova squad is all so tragic because they all deserved to learn and grow past the accident and NONE OF THEM were given that chance. cuz if they were. it wouldn't be a tragedy... whatver. head in hands random headcanon: i think if she lived years down the line she would've made a really good academy flight instructor. sigh unpopular opinion: unpopular opinion implies that anyone has ever talked about sito. ever. so i dont really have one

favorite thing about them: how do i even answer this... honestly his whole arc w/ starfleet is what really gets me more than anything. his dad dying + him going down the exact path his dad died for + him hating picard for being responsible for jacks death + then him being responsible for joshs death. DRIVES ME MADDD. he's literally wesley... wat do i even say. least favorite thing about them: he sucks so much. he's the worst ever and is lame af and i love it. get dunked on gayboy! brOTP: ugh he's not allowed friends. well in my head him + sito as terrible friends in the show i really like his hinted friendship with riker :) me and my 40 year old work best friend. OTP: he gets nothing ever. sorry. nOTP: literally like 99% of ships i have seen. everyone blow up. random headcanon: well i think he plays the oboe for one :) one of the novels mentions him reading the right stuff and i think he has an unhealthy relationship with that book. as all pilots should. ALSO 100% you cannot convince me that he doesn't become a bit of a starfleet local legend after he disappears. like the kid that worked on the enterprise when he was young and then got into that big flight accident drops out one random week and is NEVER SEEN AGAIN. like. unpopular opinion: oh my god star trek fans when will you realize he is not a funny teenager. like my man is so traumatized as fuck by everything that happens those first seasons why do you think he'd be silly and goofy. he's the most serious 17 year old EVER. also no one has ever said anything productive on the picard wesley dynamic star trek fans are all so stupid. song i associate with them: RAPID FIRE uhm pensacola mancester orchestra. romans 10:9 the mountain goats. swim the glands. plane crash blues car seat headrest favorite picture of them: THESE TWO HE’S LITERALLY THE WORST EVER….

technically the first time i saw rebels was like... actually when the show was still airing, like in 2015/2016 i wanna say? shockingly i had like zero interest in the show whatsoever at the time. like nothing in the pilot episode was clicking with me, i thought it was boring, i wasn't sure why i was bothering to watch it at the sci-fi club i was at BUT THEN i gave it a second chance... last year, i wanna say? (EDIT: i checked. yeah it's just over a year now of rebels. con rats to me) and something entirely SWITCHED. i had been getting significantly more hyperfixated on star wars (thanks to my bf) and suddenly i was like... charmed by the cast? like idk it felt like such a 180, like yeah still not the most captivating introduction ever but i actually was like "hold on...... let them cook" i. don't think i had been that invested in a show in quite some time. like genuinely my first watchthrough fucking BROKE me dude i was like genuinely so distraught at it being over because i was just so ATTACHED. like idk i love the chemistry the ghost crew has. and some parts hit really close to home with me so i was like haha girl nooo (develops a sickly little attachment to the idea of star wars rebels)

4. who was your first favorite character when you initially got into your f/o’s source content? was it your f/o from the very beginning?

ezra. sorry but he was a little bit just like me in the real. like not my fave in a romantic sense obv (more just like "god he is sooo me") but idk something about him i was so attached to. ezra is my dear sweet boy (and it is why he is my son now) i did get into kanan and hera shortly after. hera just kinda slowly developed bc she actually got to be a developed woman woaugh?!?!?!? and for kanan for some reason it was the episode where he trained sabine in s3. like in the night scene, the way he sounded so in command i was like ermmmm.......yes sir (flushed emoji) plus they're my silly het couple and i wanted IN that relationship STEADFAST (yeah s2/s3 is when it kinda clicked to who i found romantically endearing)

5. if your f/o is from a series, were you into the source content from the start or did you come in later? if you came in later, what was the most recent release when you got into it?

(talked about this a bit in 3 but) i got into it literally four years after it ended LOL but just in time for ahsoka........aka "rebels s5" bc let's be real. it's gonna somewhat be rebels s5 for star wars itself though? like 2007 give or take, through the lego complete saga games, although i never really got into star wars hardcore until high school when i watched the sequel trilogy as it was dropping in theaters (although as a kid i remember sometimes watching the clone wars show when it'd air on tv)

I am so sick of the bad writing of new shows. Sooo lets rewatch the Buffy pilot and I will also be educating anyone who’s interested in why this episode is good, and why it hits all the good notes or high/low chords of tv!

We open with a subverting of expectation, something the show will become known for. The girl vampire eating the boy. It’s a scary tense moment. And we’re surprised at the end! It’s called a Hook!

Then within the first five minutes we find out Buffy has been kicked out of her last school! I’m instantly interested in this character, and I know stuff about her! Not rocket science people. We want to know the people that are going to be following your stupid plot threads, ok??

Instantly we have two characters who want things! Wanting things. Very important! Buffy wants to fit in and make friends at a new school. Xander wants… buffy. Not sure why this is important but hey. Characters people.

Then she glares at Cordelia who insulted Willow!! And goes to sit with her even though she’s not cool. Did you see that?? Buffy did something that made me like her!! Also important. I want to like your characters! I know it’s shocking.

Now we have something very important! The library scene. Happens about 15 minutes in! We find out Buffy is a vampire slayer! And guess what?! She doesn’t wanna be anymore! She’s over it! We instantly know her secret. Are in on her dark past. Invested in her journey.

15 minutes in. Not 15 episodes in. Not 15 chapters in.

FIFTEEN MINUTES

And guess what? I don’t care much what happens next. Cause I’m in! You got me.

Very simple.

Anyway the dialogue is funny and witty. So that’s also nice. Other than that, it follows a basic save the cat beat sheet, which is nice, cause structure.

Almost Paradise ( Owen Patrick Joyner Fic )

Hey everyone! This story is gonna be a Owen Patrick Joyner story and I will be pairing the reader with Owen, so I’ll put Y/N anytime the main character is mentioned or is talking. Summary: Y/N just turned 22 and decided to make a spontaneous trip to L.A California USA from Dieppe,New Brunswick, Canada to visit her best friend Charlie Gillespie for her 22nd birthday present to herself. He doesn’t know she’s coming, hence the surprise. But little does she know would she get a little surprise of her own on her way to America.

*Week before Reader’s birthday* 2021

Y/N’s thoughts: It has been forever since I’ve last seen my best friend Charles Jeffrey Gillespie or how I like to call him Arlo *as I hold onto the necklace he gave me for my 15th birthday*. Weird nickname I know, but I’ve been calling him that since kindergarten and I’m not changing it. It’s almost my 22nd birthday so I felt like I should treat myself to a present of seeing my best friend for a little while. Momma bear doesn’t know yet but I don’t think she’ll care as much since she loves Charlie as one of her own kids, so just taking a trip cross country shouldn’t be too hard to tell her. Right? Let’s find out.

*Y/N walks down to the kitchen from her bedroom*

“Hey mami,” Y/N says as she sits on one of the barstools, popping a green grape and dipping it into nutella into her mouth.

“Yes Y/N nickname?” Y/N’s mom says in a what do you want tone, while finishing cleaning up the kitchen after dinner.

“What?” Y/N asks.

“I already know you want something. You never come back downstairs after dinner unless you’re getting a snack or you want something. I’m your mother, remember.”

“Damn, that predictable huh? Anyways, yes I wanted to ask you something or more like tell you something. So I was thinking for my 22nd birthday I could possibly fly down to America and see your adopted son for a couple weeks. You know I’ve been wanting to move down to L.A so why not go for my birthday. I’d obviously stay at Arlo’s, money shouldn’t be an issue since I’ve been saving plus birthday money from past years. Sooo?” Y/N finishes saying while looking at her mom with puppy eyes.

“You already bought your plane ticket didn’t you?” your mom says while staring at you with one eyebrow raised.

“.... maybe…. no actually, I wanted to see what you’d say first before splurging.” Y/N says while looking down at the bowl of grapes and looks up again to smile cheeky at her mom.

Your mom rolls her eyes and laughs. “ Sure, why not. Do you want me to call Maman J so she can tell Charlie?” your mom asks.

“No no, I want it to be a surprise. It’s kind of a birthday present to myself since Arlo decided to be like “ I wanna be an actor and blah blah blah”. You say mimicking him.

“Alright, well as an early birthday present, I’ll buy your ticket. Should I make it a round trip or a one way?”

“Ummm make it a one way trip, I’ll let you know when I want to come home. You know Arlo, he always has some random hiking trip he wants to take, and knowing him he might drag me to one of those trips” you say rolling your eyes.

“No problem. You better go upstairs and start packing.” your mom says.

*You dip one last green grape into nutella and pop it into your mouth before you hop off the bar stool to give your mom a kiss* “You’re the best mami!”

*You run back to your room and start planning the whole trip*

*5:30pm One day before reader’s birthday and your flight*

*you're sitting on your bed finishing up some last minute packing, when you hear a knock at your door.*

“Come in.” Y/N says without turning around.

“Hey hun.” your mom says.

*you turn around to face your mom* “Hey mami, whats up?” *you say while sitting on top of your luggage trying to close it*

Your mom chuckles, “Here is your plane ticket for your flight, it's at 5:55am, you have a connecting flight to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma which will have a connecting flight to L.A.X.”, your mom says handing you the tickets. “So you better finish packing and get some rest.”

*You reach for the tickets while trying not to fall of your luggage* “Awesome, thanks mami.”

“No problem, just get some rest ok. I will drive you to the airport.” your mom says while walking out of your room.

“Ok!” you yell through the door. *You finally got the luggage to close* “YES!” you say standing up on the edge of your bed but then proceed to fall off your bed in the process which leads to a loud thud hitting the floor. “I’M OK!” you yell before your mom asks.

You place your luggages and carry ons by your door and start getting ready for bed. You look into the mirror one last time and stare at the picture of you and Charlie at the waterfront, ( https://www.instagram.com/p/B-suC_WF8Cu/) ( just pretend its yall, I know its like his cousin or friend)

“L.A.X I’ll see you tomorrow.” you say to yourself before walking to bed.

*Reader’s birthday* 3:00am

*You groan annoyingly wondering why you’re up so early, when you realize it is your 22nd birthday and you have a flight to catch in two hours. You spring out of bed, pop your airpods in and blair The OtherSide from The Greatest Showman and begin getting ready for your long day of flying*

*Dancing towards your bathroom, you turn on your shower to warm up and start brushing your teeth. You lay out the outfit you will be wearing to the airport on your bed, take out your headphones and head into the shower.*

*20 mins later. You hear a knock on your bathroom door*

“Almost done sweetie?” your mom asks.

“Yes, I’m just finishing up, I’ll be down soon.” you say through the door.

*Because you’re going to the airport you didn’t put too much makeup on, just enough to make yourself look kind of awake on the flights. You put your hair in a messy bun, put on your jean jacket, take one last look in the mirror before you shut off the light and head out.*

*You look around your room to make sure you grab any last minute items for your carry on. Especially making sure you have your Beats, charger, spare hair elastics and gum. You go to grab your luggage when you realize your mom already did and placed them in the car. Best mom ever. You grab your guitar case and your bag and head out.*

*Skip the car ride, you’re already at the airport*

“You’re sure you have everything right?” your mom asks while taking the stuff out of the car.

“Yes, I promise, I have everything I need. If I forgot anything important I will call you and have it shipped to Arlo’s.” you say while closing the trunk of the car.

“Alright, have a safe trip hun, please be safe and try not to get Charlie in too much trouble ok?” your mom says while hugging you goodbye.

*GASP* “ HEY! I’m a good noodle, Arlo’s the one who dared me to jump in the fountain at the mall. You know me I could never pass up a good dare.” you say while breaking the hug.

“Haha, yes I know which leads you to getting sick. Remember, it was winter.” your mom retorts back.

“ Yeah yeah I know, I’m still a good noodle though.” You chuckle while grabbing your stuff again.

Your mom shakes her head, “Go before you miss your flight silly.” She says while turning you around.

“Ok, ok I get it you want me gone.” You say laughing while walking towards the automatic doors.

“OH SWEETIE!” your mom calls out.

You turn around. “Yes?” you ask

“Happy Birthday!” your mom yells in front of everybody.

You stare at her like really. “Thanks mami. I love you too”

*You walk inside the airport and walk towards the check in line to check in all your luggages.*

*Skip to you’re already on the plane before take off.*

*You check your phone for the time, plug in your Beats, place them on and hit shuffle before. You look out the window watching the sun just barely starting to rise before you close it and begin to read your book, for the next 4 hours.*

*4 hours later*

*You finish up one of your books, you pull off your headphones just in time to hear the pilot announce that you guys are about to land. You place your book and headphones back into your bag and prepare to land.*

* You get off the plane and check the time on your phone to notice that your connecting flight is almost here and you begin to panic. You check your ticket and realize that of course your flight is on the other end of the terminal, so you begin to run and book it to the other end, hoping you’ll make it on time.*

“Excuse me! Sorry! Sorry! Excuse me!” you say as you weave through airport traffic.

*Half way through your running spree you look down at your phone again to make sure you didn’t miss your flight when you feel your arm get tugged from behind you. You notice one of yours and someone else’s luggage clipped each other by the wheels and they both go flying. “Sorry, my bad.” you say as you grab a luggage, not even looking up to see who you collided with and go back to your sprinting.*

“Yes!” you say to yourself as you make it to your gate. The flight hasn’t boarded yet so you take a seat and wait for your row to be called. You get to your gate, hand the lady your ticket and proceed to board your flight.

*You place your carry-on luggage into the overhead bin and take your seat, when you notice a very sweaty guy just barely making it onto the flight. You chuckle to yourself.*

*3 hours later*

“Alright passengers, we will be landing very shortly. The weather today is 89 degrees, partly cloudy, and 40% of humidity. Welcome to Los Angeles, California passengers.” the pilot announces over the intercom.

*You place your headphones back on, and calmly this time walk off the plane and head towards baggage claim*

*As you’re waiting your favorite song Someday by Max Schneider starts to play. You begin to sway back and forth, humming to the tune when you then feel a tap on your shoulder. You turn around to see who it was and begin to stare at him weirdly wondering why you can’t hear the guy talk*

“Oh shit, my bad. Forgot.” you say as you take off your headphones to actually hear what the guy was saying.

“It's cool, all I was saying was that I was sorry for colliding with you back in Oklahoma. I wasn’t paying attention, I was in a rush and didn’t see you. It wasn’t until after that I noticed that the gate was in the opposite direction.” A dirty blonde guy explains to me.

“Oh no, it was totally my fault, I should have been looking up instead of on my phone. I guess we were both in a rush. But hey, I like your jean jacket. Pretty dope.” I say to him.

“Right back atcha.” he retorts.

*Awkwardly stands next to each other waiting for your luggage to arrive*

“Welp, that's my luggage. Have fun in L.A.” The guy says as he grabs his other luggage and heads towards the exit.

“Thanks, you too crash buddy.” you say back.

*you grab your luggages from the conveyor belt and pull to the side so you’re not in the way of people. You go to open one of your luggages to make sure nothing spilled on the flights/crash over, when you notice that the things in one of the luggages isn’t yours.*

“Shit, I must have accidentally switched luggages with that guy back in Oklahoma.” you say to yourself as you look around to hopefully see if he is still around.

*You close up the luggage, and begin to gather your things and head towards the exit, hoping the guy hasn’t left the airport yet. You get to the exit, head outside and don’t see the guy you bumped into.*

“Damn it!” you say defeated, “How will I ever get my stuff back? What a way to start off my birthday.”

*You get an uber and head towards Arlo’s place*

So due to popular demand I watched episode 2 of Walker for you guys. Part 1 of 2

So here’s my review of episode 2 of Walker. Is this going to be the episode where Walker lassoes a person? We’ll see.

The episode is titled “Back in the saddle” and I am already wishing I was eating my cookies. But the batter needs to rest in the fridge first, blah blah.

Night sky. Horses in their stables in the darkness. Security cameras switching off…? Fire! Someone set fire to the stable. Someone hurries to get the horses out. It’s clever, I’m actually invested in making sure the horses are okay. Maybe they’re luckier than Mary Winchester. Wait, wrong show.

The last one is trapped! A brave guy tries to free him but a wooden beam falls down and kills him. Oh no. Did someone at least save the horse?

The ridiculous title card plays, and then our favorite former Supernatural lead currently starring in a new show appears. He loads what looks like a toolbox in the back of his truck. There’s a horse saddle already on the truck. Soft music and the yellow sunlight shining behind him announce this is an emotional scene. The saddle has a leather bag on the side, with the initials of Walker and his wife engraved on it.

Ta-da! Flashback of Walker and his wife. Thankfully she is not elvish vision glowing this time, although the blurry effect of the flashbacks still make me think of a Lord of the Rings ripoff.

The saddle was a gift from her! Walker makes this face so we know he loves it.

Look at how ridiculous this is.

They’re trying sooo hard to appeal to bibro Supernatural fans. They’re BEGGING for the attention of bibro Supernatural fans. I’m not sure if redoing SamandDean iconic moments but with Walker and his dead wife (played by who I assume some hardcore bibros believe is Jared’s beard) is the best way of doing it? I mean, I wouldn’t take that direction. But okay. We take our Meaningful Moments from Supernatural because our viewers are not invested in these characters but are invested in those ones, so at least we’re provoking emotions by making them think of those ones. It is a strategy, I guess.

Fuck, I spoke too soon! The glowiness is not too strong - it is daytime in this flashback and not nighttime like in the pilot - but it’s there.

Back to the present, Walker is on the phone with his mother, explaining he’s back at his place to fix a leak or something. If the kids have been living with their grandparents and Walker has been away for almost a year, how is the patio so clean and pristine? But wait, someone’s been there. There are empty beer bottles. And then the funniest frame of the show so far.

Stella is a teenager. In 2021. Which teenager in 2021 texts like someone who had to spend 20 cents for text and press the button four times to get an s? Her father should be the one texting like it’s 1999. Stella would be the one texting like phones have automatic capitalization and predictive text and shit...

There is absolutely no fucking way the place can be so clean and pristine if no one’s lived there bar some teenagers who drank beer in the patio. But okay.

Oh no. Another glowy flashback. Holy shit. Why. We get it. He misses his wife. They had the perfect little life together. The music they use in the flashback is starting to give me a pavlovian response.

Even Jared is unhappy. Look at his unhappy face.

In the meanwhile, Ramirez and her boyfriend are having fun when her boss calls her. She dresses up to go to the fire stable place, in the meanwhile they have a conversation about their relationship. She has never really had a longterm serious relationship, and she’s confused because, I quote, “I am one of the first women ever, one of the first women of color, ever” [that’s it sentence finished]. I can’t believe Ramirez has been around for thousands of thousands of years.

She needs to focus on her job and he’s a distraction because he has a six pack. No, that’s literally the scene. He takes off his shirt and we see his six pack. Now, he’s a pretty impressive physique, that’s not a problem. Why isn’t he the main character of a show about doctors?

Meanwhile, Walker joins the family for breakfast. The brother, Liam, is great at making smoothies. What an interesting all-rounded gay character.

Walker’s mom says they should stay living with them because it means stability for the kids. Walker says they should move back to their house because normal whatever. Stella says, does it even matter to you where we want to live?, and leaves. August reveals she goes back to the house sometimes, meaning the beer was hers and she lied. Draa~ama. Stella is the only interesting character in this family.

Jared makes another discontented Jared thing at the end of the scene, I can’t gif them all, and we get to the crime scene. “Fire’s no way to go” Walker comments, because they watched the Supernatural pilot before writing the show.

Oh no, the horse didn’t make it either :(

So, the stableman who died had just come out of prison. Oh no. Is this another plot about convicted criminals doing shady things after they get out of prison? It must be, otherwise this detail wouldn’t be relevant since the guy just died. Oh no.

Ooooh James, the new boss, is making some changes which include following the rules to a t. Meaning Walker has been demoted until he passes all the tests again. I need to show you the face, sorry

This is it, this is Jared’s acting in this show.

Walker tries to argue with Captain James, but he says he wants to be “on the right side of history for a change”, so he cannot have him run around doing whatever he wants. James isn’t happy that he went to look at the footage of Emily’s murder again. He tells him again that the case is closed because a guy confessed, and he needs to focus on his family and job now. We’ve heard this so many times I’m so bored. But guys Jared’s acting gives us gems

Ramirez starts talking about the test, but he’s off, she asks him if he’s good and he says I’m fine. I’m Fine Lie #3! I think, I’m not really counting.

Something about the case. Whatever.

Stella is training for the big upcoming soccer match. Why can’t this be a sports show about teenage girls playing soccer? I can even give them a pass about calling it soccer.

Stella and her friend Isabel chat and Isabel says “ICE is sniffing around”, which I’m sure is not what ICE does.

I take it back. I don’t want a show about teenage girl soccer. Now there’s drama because Stella and Bel shouldn’t be playing in the big game because of their arrest, but apparently Stella is good and the couch will let her play, but not Bel, so she refuses to play. Unsure if this is about racism or Bel simply isn’t a great player. They should have made it clearer…

Meanwhile Augustus chats with a schoolmate called Ruby. Yeah. It had been too many minutes without an easter egg.

Walker and Ramirez take the tests. First shooting range. Then driving. He’s very good at these things. I’m bored. I don’t care about cops showing off their cop skills. I’d rather watch Ruby and Sam, er I mean, Augustus talk about high school projects, and I don’t care about high school projects.

Word Count: 59763 Status: Complete Summary: During her sophomore year at Hearst, Veronica takes on your run-of-the-mill blackmail case: the clients hate her, the evidence is impossible to destroy, and her ex turns out to be a bit of a distraction, but Veronica is a sucker for a damsel-in-distress. Even if the damsel is an intoxicated, pissed off Carrie Bishop. Notes: I AM HIGH PITCHED SCREAMING. Transplanting the movie plot to this timeframe works tremendously and TLGG’s execution is fucking perfect. Carrie is a powerhouse in this fic and god, Logan is such a honey it in which is why it is being recc’d for him. Him practically letting Carrie move in with him and doing his damnedest to protect Carrie and Gia (much to Veronica’s chagrin) is so, so important to me and I love him so much.
