The night of the royal ball, everything Elodie encountered was jaw dropping. Never did she think she would get a personal invite inside the Capital, and most certainly not to such an event like this one. The decoration in the hall, the lightning from the chandeliers, the fashion!

Queen Historia even loaned Elodie one of her ladies in waiting to help dress her in a borrowed gown and style her hair.

Armin and Levi waited for her, Armin smiling and bowing his head when she appeared, making Elodie do the same before excitement took over and she almost skipped over to him, fancy shoes and all.

They signed how nice the other looks and Elodie thanked him for helping teach her to dance so she could partake tonight.

Levi swore he felt weak in the knees, but it's not his injury this time, but the enchanting sight in the blue dress standing next to Armin.

Levi waited for Elodie to look over, and her expression became even more euphoric.

"Captain, you're so dashing!" Elodie signed, her smile reaching her eyes as Levi finally came forward.

"In this old thing?" Levi gave a look that said he's joking, making Elodie give a silent laugh.

"Are you ready?" Armin asked them both, Elodie nodding, ready to make an entrance.

It took Levi a moment more, and Armin saw he should go on ahead.

"You look beautiful." Levi signed, thumb going across her cheek lightly.

"Thank you." Elodie signed, posture becoming a little shy when she looked down.

Soon, with the men on either side of Elodie, the three make their way to the staircase.

Elodie watched the couples dancing, with Levi feeling Elodies desire to join in, but still holding back.

Within minutes she is excited to be asked to dance by a handsome man, apparently taking no mind of the fact that Levi and Armin were right here.

Levis grip on her arm tightened for just a moment, letting go after she signed to him she was ready.

Levi and Armin watched with confidence in Elodie, but the man turned out to be no gentleman, and his skill was lacking, and just like that, he clearly spoke out that it was a mistake, as if it were Elodie who stepped on his foot, and not the other way around.

Levi tensed at the sight, knowing Armin felt the same.

Suddenly, everyone who was anyone that was in the room, was staring at the scene in shock.

Elodie felt herself blush, trying to wish herself anywhere but in the middle of the room.

She wanted so very much to be able to dance along with everyone, thought she'd practiced enough with Armin that she would have a grand evening she could only dream of.

Instead, one small slip up was enough to make the man that asked her on the floor, leave her there be herself, looking foolish, while everyone looked on.

Queen Historia waited to see what would happen, while Levi was ready to punch the man in the face for embarrassing Elodie like that.

She cautiously looked around the room, eyes stopping on Levis.

He inconspicuously signed to her to come back over to him, but she couldn't move.

Armin couldn't stand it and was first to move forward, going to excuse himself around others on the floor.

Levi, however, quickly put a hand on his shoulder, making Armin stop.

"Let me." Levi never cared for being the center of attention, but Armin liked it even less, usually. And Elodie had no choice in the matter at the moment.

So Levi decided to forgo his revenge on the one that caused her to be standing there with a red face for all to see, and go rescue her.

Just before he got to Elodie, his name was called out by the queen.

"Yes, your majesty?" Levi eyes stayed on Elodie, who pleaded with her eyes to make this better. He was so close.

"I think I should like to start the next one."

But he couldn't ignore the queen. So he stood there, mere feet from where he needed to be.

Elodie wasn't entirely sure what was going on, so tried to keep her focus on Levi, who never broke eye contact.

"Armin, come, dance with me." Historia stood up from her chair, holding a hand out.

So much for Levis plan of keeping him out of this.

People who didn't know their story might think this strange, but being childhood friends was still a very important factor in Historias adult life, even if she couldn't say it as often as she wanted.

Armin blinked a couple times, gesturing that everything would be okay to Elodie when her head barely turned his way when he passed her as he went to go take his queens hand.

Historia motioned for the musicians, and everyone stood back and watched while they danced beautifully together. Except for Elodie and Levi, who remained in the middle of the floor.

Levi realized Historia was doing this for Elodie, and knew that instead of taking her away from here he needed to help her rise above it.

Coming to stand in front of Elodie, he held his hand out.

Her eyes widened at registering what Levi was asking.

"I don't think I can." Elodie signed, nervous to try again, even with Levi.

Levi sighed. "Yes, you can." He said out loud, knowing she could read what he said.

"You can do anything." He signed and finger spelled. "You look beautiful, and dance very well. He's the one who can't dance."

Polite as always, even in her humiliation, she thanked him.

"Now, dance with me."

Elodie took Levis hand, letting him pull her in close.

"Eyes on me." Levi signed before putting her into hold.

Between hand squeezes on one side, finger taps on the other, and steadfast eye communication, the two looked as regal as the only other couple dancing in the room.

With Levis lead, any small missteps where minimized and went unnoticed by everyone.

Historias ladies in waiting also found partners, and in moments everyone was dancing like nothing happened.

Soon Elodie was smiling again, feeling she was moving on air with a prince who would never let her down. Levis mood never dropped with Elodie in his arms, smiling back at feeling her joy.

"Thank you, your majesty." Armin said to his own partner.

Historia gave a smile. "She's very brave, Armin." Historia was thrilled to get to know Elodie more the next day at their official meeting.

"She's so much more." Armin stole glances at Levi and Elodie, as did Historia. Elodie was practically glowing, Levis eyes shining her reflection.

With her confidence restored, and no longer bothered when it seemed like she was making up her own steps at times, Elodie delighted in the atmosphere while she and Levi conversed.

"I don't usually do this." Levi admitted that while he knew how to dance, it was rare for him to do anything other than observe.

"Do you need to sit?" Elodie signed to Levi, worried his knee might act up.

"And miss dancing with you? No." Levi exaggerated his expression, as if the idea of being anywhere else was absurd.

Seeing how happy Elodie was, that could be his only answer.

Her elation only grew as she signed to Levi that she didn't want this night to end.

"Seems as if the Captain thinks so, too." Even if Historia couldn't tell what they were saying, she saw the way Levi held her, touched her arm, put a strand of hair back in place, looked at her with fondness, made sure she was safe.

While Elodie was relishing the entire experience, it was easy to see that Levis attention was squarely on her.

It's not that Levi didn't care about others, Historia knew he did. But she had never seen the Captain act quiet this way towards anyone. While she heard of the impact Elodie had been making around her village, she could see it now, and knew it was only the beginning.

Love was in the air at the Invictus Games in September 2017. Long before Meghan became a royal and had just started dating Prince Harry, her style was casual and laidback, but still equally chic. Marvel War Heroes

Mutants. Inhumains. Optimisés. Ces trois mots et bien d’autres se trouvent sur toutes les lèvres ces derniers temps. La découverte de personnes « non humaines » inquiète certains et fait rêver d’autres. Que ce soit avec le gène X ou la Terragénèse, les humains sont à l’aube d’une nouvelle évolution jusqu’alors impensable. Les optimisés sont de plus en plus nombreux et certains possèdent des pouvoirs phénoménaux et parfois hors de contrôle. Suite à cette découverte et après de nombreuses pertes humaines parmi les civils, le projet de loi sur le recensement des êtres optimisés a vu le jour. Tout être possédant des pouvoirs surnaturels doit signer cette loi nommée le « Super-Human Registration Act » (SRA ou SHRA) sous peine de se retrouver sous les barreaux dans la Prison Alpha. Anthony Stark, aka Iron Man est le premier super héros à signer le registre. Cependant tous les optimisés n’acceptent pas de signer le SHRA. C’est notamment le cas de Steven Rogers, aussi connu sous le nom de Captain America. C’est ainsi que se créé deux groupes luttant pour des idéaux différents. Ce conflit grandit de jour en jour alors que chaque camp est déterminé à ne pas rendre les armes. Certains restent indécis et se retrouvent pris entre les deux groupes. Le sérum développé par la firme Yoshida qui serait capable de retirer les pouvoirs à tout optimisé ne fait qu’attiser les flammes d’un incendie qui risque de ravager les États-Unis en détruisant tout sur son passage. Le tonnerre de la guerre gronde alors que les jours passent. Stark est soumis à la pression constante du gouvernement et Rogers est incessamment traqué par ce dernier. Poussés à bout, autant par leurs idéaux que par des pressions extérieures, les deux super-héros ne sont qu’à une étincelles près de l’affrontement. Very rough draft of intro to SILENCE

Our tale begins in a kingdom far away, in a time long ago. The island of Paradis, which played a big role in the war on giant humanoids known as titans, has finally rebuilt and is starting to thrive, thanks to Queen Historias rule. With the threat of the aforementioned creatures now eliminated, walls no longer separate the people from each other or the outside world.

A short time of rest had come for the survivors of war. But things cannot stay peaceful forever. Paradis contains many resources, and one day other nations will come, trying to claim them. Therefore the former military has been rebranded with modified duties to coincide with the current situation.

The military police are no longer what they once were and now include many servicemen and women that ensure the wellbeing of the people in all areas. While it is true that former social class can still play a part in circumstance, and some are better off than others, it is made sure that everyone has what they need to make ends meet. For the most part, people are content in their own situation.

The garrison now builds new barriers at the exterior of the kingdom, as well as a tighter one near the capital of Mitras. They shield not just the queen, but help protect everyone from any possible advancing forces that will one day invade. They also build towers and are stationed at specific parts of the island that meet the water that would be most vulnerable to a marine attack.

The scouts responsibilities have altered slightly. With no more titans to fight, they focus on land exploration and expansion, looking for more resources for the people of Paradis while watching for signs of possible enemy assault, taking care of any threats that can be quickly dealt with who were able to make it past the garrison, sending a warning to the other nations whose warriors do not return home.

One such scout who is important is the infamous Captain Levi, once known as humanities strongest soldier. He was gravely injured in a successful attempt to help bring down the last titan, and it took him some time to recover. His heart and determination have won out over the trauma and nightmares he has had to endure. Though not as powerful as he once was, he still successfully leads the scouts on missions. The scars that blind him in one eye and the lingering knee pain do not stop him from still being considered a daunting opponent against those that would intend to bring harm to Paradis. Even those closest to him can still be intimidated by his temperament.

However, it is not titans or the threat of enemies, that is the main focus of our story, and while the Captain himself will soon play a big part, we must also mention our heroine.

A young woman named Elodie Mae Edwards lives just beyond where wall Rose once stood, to the west of the capital of Mitras. She lives alone in a small home that still stands even after the titans broke through. She was one of the lucky ones, if there is such a thing, because she's alive, having been sent behind wall Rose that day to go exchange apples for eggs and wool. Her elderly parents had not been so lucky. While they tried to make it to safety, it just wasn't meant for them to continue in this world.

Her parents took care of her and did their best to make her ready for the inevitable, but she is still misunderstood by so many. For you see, Elodie has never heard a spoken word since the day she was born. While cases of this have been documented, there is no one else like her known in Paradis. This could be because secretly some children may be cast out for what some would see as a handicap, or any other sign of a hindrance, but her parents never gave up on the child they'd been so desperate to have.

Through books and stories and some made up methods, they learned a new way to communicate and were able to teach her to do the same. She now uses her hands to speak, while also trying to read lips, if only people would speak clearly to her. She can feel vibrations and is very aware of her surroundings. Through what she has learned she has been able to survive in a place where others would flourish.

Part of this is because while the inhabitants of each of the former walls do interact with each other more often, it is still uncommon for those that reside closest to where Wall Maria once stood to be found mingling with those belonging in the area behind where Wall Sina once was. People who were once considered nobles try to retain their status and can still act snobbish to those that they judge as beneath them, even though is has been proclaimed that those titles shall no longer have an influence.

Elodie has long dark hair pulled back with clips or ribbons, expressive hazel eyes, a delicate frame, is sweet, shy and generally inquisitive in nature, and has a will she will not let be broken. She has tried to learn to live by herself. The garden of simple things like carrots and potatoes, as well as the apple tree, do well enough, and there is water in the well that sits on the small portion of land that belongs to her. She goes around to neighbors to do odd jobs in exchange for notes and coins, or anything they can give to her, and asks for guidance from those of whom are willing to be patient enough.

Recently, one of her neighbors who has always been kind had recommended her for a more permanent position, and most days of the week she now walks a total of almost 11 miles to make wages. An animal doctor who lives to the north put her to work for a day and after seeing the empathy she has towards animals, took her on to assist in the cases that medicine alone could not remedy. It is whispered that the doctor has somewhat controversial methods, but because of Elodies nurturing ways, this has attributed to more positive results. With the word spreading, this makes more people bring in their animals, which to him only means more income. Elodie doesn't complain that he pays her improper wages and he doesn't bother to try to communicate with her much. It is enough to sustain her, and she has found something she is passionate about.

Thankfully there are people who have known her family and by seeing her with them and now out and about herself, have tried to learn to communicate with her. Some more than others. In a chance meeting with scout Armin Arlert not very long ago, who had been in town on a day she was trying to make a trade, he has become one of those people. Armin uses his love of books to continue helping her learn to read more than what her parents had been able to. He is also very motivated to learn her way of speaking and practices often, now being able to hold simple conversations together.

With a bit of setting, background, and character information, this is where we start to move forward, for very soon, Elodie will meet another scout, the previously mentioned legendary Captain Levi.

The two will form a deep connection, and help open up a world they never knew existed, each new day overflowing with possibilities.

Elodies very essence will stir up new sentiments and emotions in Levi that have never been present, while breaking down the stoic Captains walls.

With Levis assertiveness and encouragement, Elodie gains newfound confidence, sees past what she thought possible, and lives up to her truest potential.

Living in a world that is not always kind, Levi takes on a new perspective, while for Elodie, there will be no more silence.

I miiiiight be starting on the prologue to the Levi x deaf character series!! I just hope I can keep it going :D

I believe I've picked a name I like for both the fic and the character. My first original character!

I've got everything planned and also want to make sure to set the scene and make her as realistic as possible so it's believable she's deaf (that make sense? lol)

BTW I'm going to say there's not enough Levi (or any AOT character) x deaf reader/character content. Any recs or ideas??

I'm about to tag a few people for some hcs lol. No pressure if it's you! :)
