Your spoon theory presumes all the spoons of one size are also the same style and not a collection of many different spoons acquired over the years which, perhaps, do not always stack so precisely.

You know, it does. In general, I assume a life where one has acquired spoons all at once, and that those are the spoons you have. What I did not take into account is a beautiful, adventurous life of spoon collecting, where each spoon itself is the lone remaining relic of a raucous adventure detailing the undertakings that led to its acquisition. Perhaps this is what Tellah meant when he referred to Edward as a "spoony bard"...

Can you imagine what stew night must be like in the house of the Spoon Collector!

"This smells great! Oh, I need a spoon…"

"Oh…" The Spoon Collector pauses, a tear in their eye, as I heedlessly grab the nearest spoon (silverish, medium in size, handle slightly bent). I sigh and roll my eyes, knowing what's coming. "It was 1983. Autumn. I had been staying in a small hotel on the outskirts of Aarhus when I ventured into town and happened upon a traffic accident..."

Hours pass. The stew is cold.

"...and that spoon." A tremor in the voice. "That…spoon… Was the last possession of the Hungarian sugar merchant's cousin. And, to save a young boy who otherwise surely would have died, she gave it to me. And after I'd taken it in hand, the soldiers took her away. I never saw her or heard from her again."

With some attempt at gravity, I lay the spoon down. I grab another, this one plastic, of all things, when—

"Oh!" The Spoon Collector gasps.

Anyway, yes, spoons of different makes do not stack so well, which is likely why they're not the prototypical spoons used to explain spooning. Isn't it a lovely thing that human bodies are much more accommodating! Humans of many different sizes can profitably enjoy spooning in either the front or back position. In truth, size has nothing to do with who "should" or "shouldn't" be the front or back spoon. Rather, there are two factors that come into play:

(1) Which side one prefers to lie on.

(2) How much one prefers to bend their legs while sleeping.

If you like to sleep curled up in a ball, you probably shouldn't be a back spoon, whether or not you're bigger! After all, sleep is about comfort, in body and soul. That's the point!

In short, any kind of spooning is a good kind of spooning, and positioning has nothing to do with size, ERGO, front/back spoon > little/big spoon.

Okay I’ve decided that I’m going to go home, finish the First Watch, scream/cry/generally dissolve into madness, then Rewatch S3 and analyze the SHIT out of it.

unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!

tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.

bonus rules:

you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny
