boba's friendship with beviin in the expanded universe is so funny. he's like, "yes, this is my best friend beviin. he has colossal dad energy, adopts practically every orphan he comes across, and constantly refers to me with a term of endearment that only my father ever used. he's the platonic ideal of a mandalorian in my eyes and his is the only opinion i care about. his armor's color scheme is literally the inverse of my father's. if you attempt to psychoanalyze me about any of this, i will kill you with explosives"

To accompany my custom dolls of Jaina Solo and Darth Caedus, I drew this illustration of them. With this drawing, I wanted to show their opposition.

Something that I love in lore for the mandalorians
(Especially how traviss wrote them)
They care for the protection of children and adults in their culture and outside of it unlike our own reality which is well something but.
I really love the scenes that show it in rep com jusik with a certain someone and mentions from other characters and legacy of the force with boba bevin medrit mirta sintas and in many of the comics hell even in kotor canderous shows that compassion of protection when he talks to a farmer
Mandalorian culture and society seem to take it much more seriously than most of the galaxy which is no shock there and i really love jaina seeing that first hand when shes on mandalor.
Zayne experiences it when he is a mandalorian for a time I really enjoy that comic it’s so fun to see Jedi experience that mandalorians deeply care and not the monsters some say they are.
Death watch is a whole other story (the harm of innocent women and children) but besides them the vast amount of Mandalorians stick to that one big thing.
And if they don’t :D they will die the same way the bastard that harmed fetts wife did or worse 💗
(I love mandalorians being protective)

AU where Darth Caedus was an evil clone of Jacen Solo, but they don't find out until after everyone's already traumatized by loss of the individual they thought was Jacen, and also it means the real Jacen is still somewhere out in the galaxy, and they have no idea where he is or if he's okay.
Also consider one where Jaina and the real Jacen fight Jacen's evil clone together.

I already knew Legacy of the Force would be filled with occ stuff and my expectations were low, but even then I'm kinda just blinking because
There's literally a separate phantom Lumiya isn't controlling in her cave rambling about how it will soon possess Jacen at the start of the series. Like??
Lumiya: Vergere was a Sith. Here's how she was trained by Palpatine around the time he was training Dooku despite the fact that she left Republic space around the time Anakin Skywalker became a Padawan
Jacen: Yeah this tracks
Nelani: Is it crack. Is that what she's making you smoke, you're smoking crack?
Jaina goes from not giving a shit about the Chiss Swarm War incident at the start to 'I hate my brother so much for that', with the kicker line of claiming she tried to reach out to him when she noticed him going dark which, uh - when?
Mara: I'm going to follow my Sith Assassin training and try to kill Jacen. This can't possibly backfire in any way shape or form
Jacen himself literally comes across as possessed. There are several instances where he just starts talking to a voice that is edging him on
On that note, Alema straight up Force influenced Jacen into shooting his parents while they were rescuing Jaina Ben and Zekk. Dark Nest abilities aside, what? This is followed in the next book by The Voice convincing him firing on the Millennium Falcon was the right choice
Karen Travis, every five seconds: Mando Mando Mando
(No, seriously. What do you mean the 'Mandalorians saved the New Republic from the Vong', what are you on about, they literally just cameod in NJO)
Mara: Lumiya can't possibly be controlling Jacen
Lumiya, meanwhile: I can successfully Force trick Luke into thinking I'm not trying to hurt him after literally trying to decapitate him and also I got him to hold my hand mid battle <3
On that note, Luke joking about wanting to bang Lumiya while Mara is actively being jealous of a relationship that ended 40 years ago was 😭 bro what
Mara: your childhood was good compared to mine (well, duh, but Jaina's childhood wasn't sunshine and rainbows??) and you're too busy wanting to get spitroasted by Zekk and Jag to do anything about your twin going dark
Jaina: What the fuck?
Jacen, meanwhile: I and Jaina's childhood was shitty enough that I can't tell if I actually loved my parents or if I was just going through the motions because I was expected to love them
Everyone is on crack except Ben who is Child and Baby and did not deserve half the bullshit flung at him
Anyways, this has done nothing but cement my personal theory that this entire book series was Abeloth fucking with everyone

Thought I was done being salty about Legacy of the Force... I was wrong.
So. For a wild second let's pretend that Jacen falling to the Dark Side was a sensible and cohesive decision to make.
They could've at least kept him on the right side of the alignment chart (for lack of a better word) and not make him a fucking cop. Sure, make him evil, whatever, have your edgy plotline, but if anything... Jacen would never be lawful evil. He'd be chaotic through and through.
Let me cite my sources:
"The Force seems so pure a thing to me, a clean truth of who I am, of who we all are. I don't know; putting a governing bureaucracy in place for the Jedi seems kind of like putting a blue-spotted preaky bird in a cage, or even like killing one and stuffing it to keep it safe so that you can continue to enjoy it."
"We're not galactic patrol." (Word by word)
(NJO: Vector Prime)
"Is that the role of the Jedi now?" Jacen asked. "Chasing smugglers?"
"Is it not?" Kyp returned with a snort.
"There was a time when the smugglers were considered friends of the Jedi," Jacen dared to say.
(NJO: Dark Tide, Onslaught)
"I know what I don't want to do--I don't want to be part of an order or a secret group. I don't want to be looked to as a guiding light of the fealty, and I don't want to be surrounded by students who'll ask more of me than I can explain. Most of all, I don't want to be an object of fascination or admiration, because that'll only distract me from what I really need to learn."
(NJO: The Unifying Force)
I... rest my case.
It would legit have made more sense to have him side with Han regarding the GA's leanings towards totalitarianism. Like, a Jacen who'd be at odds with the GA and the brutality it was starting to enforce, and maybe end up being at odds with the Order who at that point were still very tied to Omas and the GA.
And... just anything but what they wrote honestly. Just don't make Jacen a cop. I guess. What with it making zero sense and all. And--

a small list of personality traits observed in boba fett's character in the expanded universe series legacy of the force
i was compiling this list for my own writing reference for older (see: 60+) expanded universe boba fett but figured i might as well share it here as well! so, uh, here's a list of various boba fett personality traits i've observed while rereading the legacy of the force novels!
sarcastic and acerbic way of communicating. often frustrated by his own inability to be genuine and warm with people he cares about.
never raises his voice. gets annoyed when other people yell, esp over comms.
dry, self-deprecating sense of humor. doesn’t mind poking fun at his own ignorance or mistakes.
cynical. tendency to expect the worst of people and situations.
emotionally volatile: switches unpredictably between numb “scrupulous detachment” and overwhelming “raw emotions.”
uncomfortable in social/emotional situations. compares even basic social interaction to “a minefield.” “switches off” and/or attempts to flee when emotions become overwhelming. often relies on beviin to “haul him out of the mire” when he hits his limit socially or emotionally.
highly principled; always keeps his word, even when it pains him to do so. that said, in truly dire circumstances, is not above using wordplay to loophole his way out of a promise. like some fucked up fae.
inner conflict between wanting to reconcile with/help/protect loved ones and deep-seated belief that he will inevitably bring them harm and suffering.
often has violent thoughts about the people around him, including his loved ones, which contribute to his previously mentioned belief that he will inevitably cause harm to them. for example, he randomly feels the urge to strike mirta when she’s sitting next to him and gets a “predatory” feeling when he’s around a blinded sintas. feels disturbed by these thoughts, obviously never acts on them.

Jacen Solo: I can’t believe all these people dressed in black. All black was my thing, and now everyone’s doing it to be cool. They’re all posers. Jaina Solo: I cannot stress this enough. We are at Aunt Mara's funeral.

✨Jaina Solo and Darth Caedus custom dolls🔥 My last Star Wars custom dolls, this is officially my first custom dolls that I’ll sell. I’ll sell them in April. I’m still working on their lightsabers. And they’re articulate dolls. So happy to have created them. Solos twins are my favorite characters in Star Wars Legends. Their action figures are so expensive and Jaina’s blackseries is also now so expensive. Need more action figures of them!!

Force sensitivity in mandalorians isn’t uncommon but you don’t just magically get it
Kad/venku skirata the son of etain and dar was born with it like his mother but he had limited training so he wasn’t as attuned in it
Jusik was trained by the Jedi and became mandalorian later on so he has much more of an affinity to the force with his force healing
Their are more force sensitives most likely in mandalorian society but keep it to themselves being a secretive culture
You can’t just magically have the force that isn’t how it works in actual lore

And Jaina knew that her training had just come to an end, because Boba Fett would not risk her-the tool of his vengeance against his daughter's killer-in a battle he could not win. As soon as they passed a hangar with a serviceable starfighter still inside, he would cut Jaina loose and tell her to go hunt down her twin brother.
