my wildest clangen story is that i had an apprentice catch a poisoned rabbit, which killed two elders (she was grieving for them for 4 moons), as well as giving her poison that then evolved into redcough. redcough is SUCH certain death but id already been track to pairing her up via mediator with another apprentice to become an absolute powercouple. wanting to up the drama if she died, i kept pushing their relationship. moons kept passing, and she wasnt dying, and eventually became mates with him! it had been like... 2 years straight of her having redcough, confined to the medicine cat den the whole time, with her supportive husband by her side the whole time. and then she GOT PREGNANT. and i was like. oh my god. shes going to either die pregnant and leave her mate heartbroken, or shes going to die when the kits are young and leave him heartbroken and a single father. but then she delivered the kits. and they grew into apprentices. and she BEAT REDCOUGH. she made a full recovery. after having redcough for like 90% of her life. it was wild and im still so fond of these ocs. i like to imagine she had awful survivors guilt and felt she deserved the redcough, and i really love the song "gilded lily" as an amv of her.

My eyes really struggle with the murky green they like to use inside Doom Manor. Reaaally struggle. I'm forever clicking up my monitor light, as tho it's not already on max. Because my brain refuses to believe the show is that blurry. Spending ages getting gifs nicely visible is really the only time that I get to properly enjoy the footage. (Doesn't help that my brain just really doesn't like that yellowy-green tone besides)

the fact that on every single route the detectives blood is becoming too much for the ro is making me go insane

Can you say, if it's not too spoilery, if the Ro who will break our heart will be forever unattainable as a romance for us? Because if so then i don't think they can be considered a full Ro and that can be rlly misleading in a way, as a writer myself i understand the want to do that, to make a twist out of it, but as a reader i'd read untill the last page waiting for the Ro to be "romanceble", as it's what a Ro is supposed to be, and end disappointed. Yes in real life shit happens and we move on, but in a book where a character is advertised as a romance option it could leave a bitter taste in the mouth when they don't live up to this expectation.

Hi, thanks for the ask! I'm going answer both of these together because they fall under the same topic, i hope that okay with everyone.

I do consider that character a romantic option- because you can romance them. You can flirt, hold hands, spend time together, and be affectionate as one would in the courting phase, why? Because the RO isn't aware of their own feelings for the other party yet. :)

If the reader is pays attention to the story and the characters around them, then they'll have an idea of who this person is and will have to make the informed decision to allow their MC(s) to continue pursuing the relationship and push for a confession.

But then the shoe drops. Oh. Oh no.

Now, if you're blindsided. You might be bitter. Disappointed. Angry. Maybe jealous once you realize who's the other party involved.

Great. That's totally valid. Let it colour your MC(s) decisions going forward because they will be important and have consequences.

Be the scornful suitor or the pathetic whelp that continues to pine after them. Take it out on the RO, their lover maybe even both of them. Or ignore them and find a rebound. (Because sweeter, happier romances are here too! Thea and Finn say hi.)

It's messy, dirty and emotional and probably unfair, but that's I find interesting to me as a reader and writer. Sometimes the chase, the surprise, and the disappointment are just as rewarding.

Thinking about Holland's ending and yes it feels fitting and i'm glad he finally gets to rest after a mostly miserable life (and he does seemingly come back as a ghost in Threads of Power at least) but also he doesn't get a happy ending! He doesn't see White London heal, he just dies! It's not even clear that he knows his death is healing White London and that he became the Someday King!

Obviously this has spawned two different fic ideas:

Firstly, Vortalis was the only person to love Holland and never betray him (however you interpret the relationship, there was at least genuine care), and so he's the one there while he's dying. Holland doesn't die alone, and maybe figures out the Someday King thing, and is welcomed to the afterlife by his best friend. And maybe he still checks in on White London as a ghost.

OR

Obviously, Vortalis is happy to see him. It's been a long time and he would have hated seeing Holland suffer. But his whole thing was "the world sucks but we can't wait around for miracles, we have to do what we can to improve it". so he takes one look at Holland and what he's planning in the Silver Wood and just goes "no! you can live! you can save Makt without throwing your life away! you don't need to become a martyr for your life to mean something!" So he firmly but lovingly pushes Holland back into the land of the living. And maybe Holland now has a ghost buddy to help him.

IS IT NOT JUST!!!!!! foa just sticks out to me as being a comforting game, just because it feels so loving towards its 'outcast' cast, who are all so incredible!!!! the kindness they show towards the pc, and how eventually the pc slowly joins their chosen family !!!! it's got a very lovely slowburn element to it too, and the ending feels earned, but still open to what's next !!!!!!!!!!!! i need foa 2 fr and i'm so glad that i got you to play it omg <3 :)

Yeah, so I was rewatching 'Moulin Rouge!' (2001, obviously, not 1952 (still, the 1952 one is decent enough)) last week, and the movie's still in my head, so now my mind ended up thinking;

Which would the characters view as more important; truth, beauty, freedom, or love?

But also, 'cause why not; would the characters consider themselves as bohemians (well, to the characters it applies to)?

The timing of this ask is funny, because I was randomly thinking about that movie yesterday, and I haven't seen it in well over a decade, so it was a bit of a coincidence... Interesting question, too!

The Physician would say either truth (even though she, herself, conceals it from time to time) or freedom - truth in the sense of the world, freedom when it comes to herself.

Aubrey would definitely say freedom here. He absolutely hates to feel shackled by anything.

Vesa would say love; how gloomy wouldn't the world be without friends and loved ones overall? Feeling love for other people is one of the most valuable things to her.

Narciso would say truth, freedom, and beauty. People are deceiving themselves, and he can deceive himself, too, so a little truth would be needed... beauty simply enhances life, and freedom, because he sorely wants it, aches for it, and wishes that he could let himself have it. It would take a lot for him to include love and say that it had equal value to him, because he finds the subject (platonic and romantic) complicated and confusing.

Roswhen wouldn't be able to choose between love and freedom, valuing both of them immensely.

Elan would definitely say love. He wouldn't really know how to define beauty in this sense, truth... well, ignorance is bliss sometimes... and freedom? As long as he isn't feeling genuinely trapped, it's fine.

As for the second question: Aubrey would gladly adopt the word 'bohemian' for himself, Vesa would say she has a streak of it, and Roswhen definitely thinks it suits them.

anyways. i have been feeling vaguely unsatisfied with media. mainly queer media . i dont know it all feels the same. of course maybe i could widen my horizons though i dont know where to start but im kind of tired of the halfway-redonating. i can never really fully resonate with any queer media because it only wver focuses on one identity in a way i can’t relate to because mines are heavily influenced by one another . only ever gay/bi. only ever trans. only ever white. only ever allo. etc etc
