I'm just saying as a L&O fan you don't watch Seasons 18-20 for the plot, you watch it for Cyrus Lupo and Michael Cutter

Law and Order thoughts for tonight
as per usual, here we go. honestly tonight, I was NOT into the other shows but svu did me good!
Okay, here we go.
Already completely forgot what happened on OC last week thank god for that recap LOL.
A (potentially) evil woman in an all white power suit!? Yes please
Okay, if she doesn’t turn out to be the mastermind I’m gonna be a little disappointed because she’s got balls and power and knows what she’s doing and he’s a little dweeb man…
Boss ass bitch is a boss ass bitch. Why do I always end up rooting for the bad guys wife? What is this show doing to me? Lolololol
“I just lost a UC last year” uh… Ayanna… are you two for two?
Oh… okay… we *were* talking about Gina despite that being in s1? Okay. What happened to Nova? Is she still alive?
Also this guy showed up in jail, started stirring the pot and got shanked, what did he expect?
Yeah pearl’s the one in charge and I’m so here for it. (also she definitely pegs him and you cannot tell me otherwise)
Oh but he’s got dirt on her? Great. Fuck this shit
Big shock. I’ve already completely stopped paying attention. Is it svu time yet??
The guy playing Russo has been on svu multiple times as multiple characters lololol. Including as Kim’s pimp in s17…
New guy’s hot… I’ll give him that LOL (is he though? Or is it just because he’s been on screen with stabler all episode?)
My stream cut out… wtf…. Im doing this legally…. LOL
Okay, got it back but now the subtitles aren’t working… *sigh*
Onto the mothership!!
Bro. this first suspect was on svu already… lort (I THINK he was the perp in the ep where the perp’s dad was olivia’s old partner/the guy from ER lol)
WHY is this girl wandering around in her underwear?? Like is this not a full fledged apartment building?
I do love Kate. Like, her and Samantha are the best part of this show. Would love to get to see Kate more in action, or have her pop up on svu to work with benson. Bad ass superior women. We stand.
Mehcad has a bomb fucking suit. Lookin bomb sir.
“I stopped listening when you said I was right” LOL. That’s a mood. Also I dare you say that to Melinda warner.
SAM FINALLY IN THE CORTROOM SOLO?!?! THANK FUCK (I know it’s just arraignment, but still…)
Everybody got blue suits this ep… im here for it.
God. This jerry guy is pissing me off. Then again, I always take the lawyers side, like 90% of the time because THAT is how things get solved/people get punished and justice is had like, ffs, how hard is it to do your job properly??
There’s 15 mins left in this ep…. I don’t think we’re going to get to court… hopefully SVU takes us to court tonight?? Cause I NEED SOME COURT ROOM IN MY LIFE.
Oh okay, here we are… but like… still.. not enough. We need more courtroom pls.
Oh good fucking GOD. WHY. I HATE THIS GUY. I get it, you want to make things right after fucking up the car search but THIS IS NOT THE WAY. Uuggghhhh. Is it svu time yet?!
“we” found it!?! NO SIR YOU!!!! Found it. Ffs. I hate it here.
He gained points by kicking him out I will not lie.
OKAY FUCKING FINLALY SVU TIME.
Grace looks amazing with the high pony, already into this.
I’M SORRY NO FUCKING STRAIGHT WOMAN HOLDS A CUP OF COFFEE LIKE THAT. MUNCY IS BI AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.
Omg all the wardrobe remarks are killing me. Does olivia not remember how she used to dress??
“do I look like the kind of girl who gets a pedicure?” I rest my case.
“oh yeah with which hand?” HAAA MUNCY GOING FOR THE KILLS HERE YESSS.
Yeah these two have major brother sister vibes PLEASE don’t force them together.
THAT BEING SAID… I do need the BOTH of them to *destroy* me and im not gonna complain if it’s at the same time…
Muncy really out here proving she’s fucking bomb
OHKAY GRACE PLEASE!! YOU ARE SITTING ON THAT DESK LIKE A FUCKING LESBIAN. I SWEAR TO GOD IF THEY TRY TO TELL ME SHE’S STRAIGHT!?? I WILL RIOOOOTTT
Imma have so fucking much to gif from this episode, jfc.
Okay they did a slightly better job of clearing this crime scene but its still not as good as Chicago.
YEEESSS WE STAN A SMOL KWEEN TAKING DOWN A GIANT PERP! FUCK!
Muncy’s getting sassed to wear a blazer meanwhile velasco’s wearing a dress shirt as a blazer… ffs
Jesus CHRIST amanda’s cheekbones…
Muncy back in a hoodie at the end of the episode lololol. Girl. You should’ve bought more than one blazer.
Olivia’s hair looks bomb!
Kelli… your side boob is showing…
Okay, that was a fucking good episode. I KNOW I was just complaining about the lack of court scenes, but this needed a full episode of just working the case/cases. And it gave us a little insight more into the new characters, gave us some personal lives, and the like. So… I’m here for it.

AU in the format of Law & Order, in which SOLDIERs go on a mission in the first half of the episode and Turks do the mopping up in the second half of the episode.
Angeal is quite good at delivering the traditional Lennie Briscoe one-liner; likewise, Tseng has no problem bringing the salt Jack McCoy-style.

Since I found out about that awesome Easter egg in season 21, I’ve been thinking about Mike and Connie flirting with each other periodically throughout the workday.
Mike (coming into Connie’s office the morning after she gave an interview to the press about a case, smirking): Nice interview last night. It wasn’t the same as your reality TV debut, but it was still good.
Connie (though she’s smiling): Oh, shut up.
***
Connie (coming into Mike’s office the morning after the Yankees lost a game): Go Dodgers!
Mike (though he’s smiling): Now that was below the belt!
(Connie laughs.)

Law & Order "Open Wounds" -- A Solid Episode; Great Performances from the Waterston's & Hugh Dancy. Hopes For Season 23.
Spoiler alert, if you haven't seen the 22nd (reboot 2nd) season finale of Law & Order, do not read anything other than the title if you don't want to be spoiled; otherwise on with the review.
Tumblr media
"Open Wounds" (Writers: Rick Eid & Pamela Wechsler (teleplay), Gia Gordon & Ajani Jackson (story), and directed by Alexander Hall), is one of the few select episode since the reboot started that somewhat has that 'Law & Order feel' that we liked from the old days. The crime itself is related to a hot button issue that is the 2nd Amendment and the almost daily mass shootings in the United States; this episode had a moment or two that seemed kind of preachy but it wasn't over the top, one-sided and/or shoved to the viewers in my view, something that a lot of the other episodes seem to do.
Tumblr media
The underlying stories are where the magic for this episode is; the return of Jack McCoy's daughter Rebecca (played by Sam's actual daughter Elizabeth) and we actually see a layer besides ambition in Sr. ADA Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy). Jack and his daughter - who is the defense attorney on this case - obviously were on different sides of the case and of differing opinions, which isn't helping their still-strained relationship. By the episode's end after her client is found guilty, Rebecca seems to still not be able to find forgiveness to her father; she literally left Jack standing at the curb as she hops in a taxi and takes off after telling Jack his grandson would be going to Columbia Law School.
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Waterston brought her A game to this role and this will be the first episode since "The Right Thing" that we've seen Jack/Sam in any other capacity than "the DA with little to say." Since this reboot started Jack McCoy seems to be wound down to have something pithy to say about the case as he enters or exits are room/building and/or the occasional angst towards a decision Price has made. Sam Waterston's best showcase (and his 400th episode on mothership) in a while, he actually felt like the old Jack -- I really hope the writers continue to incorporate him into the stories more; if Sam is supposed to be portraying McCoy as the new Adam Schiff (Steven Hill), then Schiff had way more input/dialogue and presence on cases.
Meanwhile it'd be remiss not to mention that this episode also showcased Hugh Dancy's talent a bit more, it was refreshing to see him portray Price as something more than just an ambitious prosecutor who at times finds sympathy for the defense in spite of the law. During the cross examination of the defendant, he goes to pick up the weapon in evidence used in the homicide and he clearly begins to be visibly affected. Price saw the aftermath of a mass casualty event back in the episode "Camouflage" as well as in the crossover premiere "Gimme Shelter," he saw a witness gunned down and the guy bled out in his hands. It's this that I've been somewhat hoping for, for both the character and the actor. There is still a LOT more work to go with ADA Price that the writers need to do, but this is a step in the right direction. I hope they don't just drop all of this next season; mother ship is not SVU where the characters lead the story but these little bits and pieces help the stories and that's what made the original series so great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Finale get's a B grade from me.
Season 23 Hopes:
I said this in my franchise opinion post so I won't rehash all of that but in season 23 (3rd for this reboot), there definitely needs to be a change somewhere in the leadership in the writer's room - the timing would be perfect for Dick Wolf/NBC to rebuild it after the WGA Writer's Strike - if they hope for this series to remain on air for a while longer, because what is being delivered every week currently is not it. Where is the discussion? Where are the issues that we face today? Where is the banter between characters that doesn't feel forced or lean one-way or the other politically? And where are what these characters stand for? Particularly the ones we should be rooting for and can't seem to.
Where are the characters from the original run? Cutter, Rubirosa, Robinette, Carmichael, Green, Logan? Milena Govich and Elisabeth Rohm have both directed episodes but have yet to appear as the characters they once portrayed on screen. That would help this reboot to see some familiar faces other than some at the defense table.
On the other side of that; can the mothership characters participate in the crossovers SVU/OC seem to continue to do? Sam Waterston has yet to appear on SVU since the reboot return (aside from Gimmie Shelter); Peter Scanavino (ADA Carisi) has yet to interact on screen with Sam. Carisi is often said "his boss/the DA" but has not actually appeared on screen with him and vice versa. Peter could showcase Carisi on mother ship.
One can only hope.

Just saw an article saying in polling, Ed Green is the least liked Law and Order character. All I have to say about that is
Tumblr media
(How? A similar article says Briscoe and Green are the second most liked partners?? After Benson and Stabler of course. Make this make sense.)

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
The lines play on repeat in the back of Jason’s mind as he watches the end of the world unfold around him. Of course, it also begs the question as to why he’s considering it the best of times given the end is nigh. Chaos reigns supreme. There is no law, there is no order.
There’s nothing and no one with him aside from the utterly unflappable Tim Drake, who continues to type madly into his laptop. The device should have died long ago and Jason wonders what sort of signal it even has given the Earth’s satellites are all useless scraps of space debris now.
But rather than voicing his concerns, he dutifully holds up the panel for the solar battery the laptop runs on, and makes minute adjustments when Tim asks.
The laptop will die when the sun goes down.
Jason has serious doubts as to whether he or Tim will see the dawn. But despite that, he sits with his back pressed against Tim’s and enjoys the warmth emanating from them both. It’s a nice contrast to the cold wind blowing in across the wide expanse of Wayne Manor’s once-manicured lawns. They’re together in the ruined shell of a place they once called home.
It seems fitting that they meet their ends here. Together.
The sun is kissing the horizon when the steady click clack of Tim’s fingers against the keyboard stop. “Done,” he says, his voice hoarse from lack of use and water these last few days.
“Yeah?” Jason replies, his own not sounding that much better. “That mean I can put this thing away?” He lowers the small solar panel as Tim nods.
“We should take cover.”
“Where?” Once upon a time, the Bat Cave might have been one of the most secure places on the planet, but not anymore. If they’re to have a chance at surviving, they need to leave.
Now.
“The barn should do.” Tim hauls himself to his feet and stumbles on the uneven stone of the veranda.
Jason catches hold of his arm, steadying him. “The barn? Are you nuts?”
The grin lighting up Tim’s face is more than a little manic. “Only on bad days.”
“What the hell day is today then?”
“A good day.”
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
“Well, in that case, lead the way.” What else can he do but follow? Jason checks his meager supply of ammo while Tim packs up his laptop and the solar battery.
“Don’t you want to know why?” Tim asks when they start trekking across the ruins of Alfred’s kitchen garden.
“Yeah, but I’m not sure I want to know the answer.”
“I reprogrammed the last defense satellite to crash into the alien mothership when their orbits cross in a few hours.”
Jason’s jaw drops. “I thought those things were all dead.”
“Not quite. This one is WE’s and has a nuclear reactor tucked away in its core.”
“How is it going to get past the ship’s shields?”
Tim’s grin grows downright smug. “The satellite now communicates on the same frequency as the mothership and the drones. It thinks our satellite is now one of its own.”
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
“You fucking little genius.” Jason wraps an arm across Tim’s shoulders and hauls him into a loose hug. “If this works, I think I might just kiss you.”
Pink colors Tim’s cheeks. “You can now... If you want to, I mean.”
Jason stops at the top of the rise that overlooks the ruins of Gotham behind them and stares. Over Tim’s shoulder, the sun sinks beneath the horizon, leaving behind a palette of orange, pink, and red.
It was the worst of times, it was the best of times...
“Yeah, I think I will.”

Among the three remaining dramas that are all on the bubble, NCIS: Hawai’i is the strongest performer with the best odds to come back, I hear.
Just an year ago, a renewal for Hawai’i would’ve been a no-brainer: it’s part of a storied franchise with solid rating and crossover potential with the mothership series that yielded big ratings in January 2023. But now, CBS already has three other NCIS series already locked for next season: the original series, renewed for Season 22, Sydney, returning for a second season, and the upcoming Young Gibbs prequel NCIS: Origins. There is also the Tony & Ziva NCIS spinoff series greenlighted by Paramount+, making for a crowded NCIS field.
There are strong arguments for keeping Hawai’i. It is currently #12 in linear viewership among all broadcast non-sports shows ahead of such TV staples as ABC’s 9-1-1 and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU and The Voice, and its multi-platform audience also is putting Hawai’i above several CBS dramas that already have been renewed, including FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International and S.W.A.T.
As CBS Studios President David Stapf said in a recent interview about the NCIS franchise, Hawai’i also is “wholly unique” while being part of the franchise as the first NCIS series with a female lead, Vanessa Lachey, and with its Hawai’i locale. “We were just coming off Hawaii Five-0, a very successful show,” he said of the spinoff’s origins. “People love that setting, it plays well over the globe.”
The counter argument is all about shelf space (or lack thereof) and money. There is financial pressure on corporate level among all traditional media companies to curb spending amid a soft ad market. For CBS parent Paramount, there is the additional element of uncertainty over the company’s future.
Sources expect tough business conversations over NCIS: Hawai’i, which is likely to have to make budget cuts to continue — something most broadcast series are subjected to these days. I hear the best case scenario for the spinoff may be a partial Season 4 of about 13 or so episodes.
