August 31st
Caligula, Roman emperor from 37 to 41, was born #onthisday in AD12. He was the son of the popular Roman general Germanicus and Augustus's granddaughter, Agrippina the Elder.
Although named Gaius Julius Caesar, he acquired the nickname "Caligula" (meaning "little boot") from the small soldier’s outfit he wore on his father’s campaigns.
During his reign he killed many relatives: cousins, his grandmother and father-in-law. His uncle Claudius was spared only because Caligula found him a laughing-stock.
Relations between Caligula and the Roman Senate were very poor.
According to Suetonius, Caligula planned to make his racehorse, Incitatus, a consul. This was to ridicule the senate that his horse was rich enough and capable enough to perform a senator's duties.
The Praetorian Guard conspired to murder the emperor. Details vary several conspirators stabbed Caligula, The assassins then found and killed Caligula's wife and young daughter.
Claudius was found hiding behind a palace curtain and soon became emperor after procuring the support of the Praetorian Guard.

Hi dear, about the question of the anon, I think that she wanted to know if you guys study Latin and Ancient Greek in High school. (In Italy “liceo classico” is the high school where you study Ancient Greek and Latin).
ah right basically in my school latin was an option for GSCE which you do when you’re 16 and A levels which you do at 18. we didn’t have ancient greek but there was a greek extra curricular club lol. so basically no you don’t unless your school does it and you choose it. i studied latin :)

Hi there! I'm currently doing Latin GCSE, and I was wondering if you ever have any resources for Latin literature? I love your flashcard things btw they're gorge! xoxo
Hi! I don’t take GSCEs, so I’m not completely sure what will be of the most help to you, but I found a bunch of resources for you to check out!
Gojimo is a free app with practice tests and explanations to help you study!
Here is a slightly older (2009) list of vocabulary words the GSCE exam expects you to know. If you’ve seen this already, I have a massive packet of vocabulary words my teacher gave us for our AP Exam this year - I will gladly find a way to send it to you!
This website has past papers, vocabulary lists, and some cultural resources!
My friend bought this awesome review guide - it’s inexpensive and has so much valuable grammar on it! (My teacher even approved it!)
This book is very highly rated on Amazon and looks like a great option!
Hopefully some of these work for you! Like I said, if you want some additional vocab to learn, let me know - good luck!!

for an arts subject (asnac in this case), is having not-so-great maths and science gcses ok? i got a star in bio, but bs in chem, phys and maths, do you think they will care (i did well in the other gcses, english lang, lit, german, art, history, latin and greek)...
Yeah, it should be okay, provided that you’ve done well in your other GSCEs which are more relevant (which it seems that you have), and that you perform well in your chosen AS levels/the admissions assessment!
