Note
Do you think Rhaenyra and Daemon would work together to get the Reader? I can see them forming a shaky truce and marrying after their spouses die, but still pushing for their respective sons to marry the Reader. Jace and Daemon's son constantly compete for the Reader’s love. I can also see Luke and Joff/Baela and Rhaena backing up their respective bros and adding to the chaos. Meanwhile, Aegon and Aemond are fuming at King’s Landing.
A big reason why Leanor and Rhaenyra’s marriage happened in the first place is under an agreement to share the reader, it was also a deal made between Viserys and Corlys. Daemon and Rhaenyra while marrying out of desire, also did under a similar agreement. But while they agreed to share her they are also simultaneously maneuvering behind each other’s backs on whose son she marries.
With the marriage done so soon after their children’s death, Corlys and Rhaenys aren’t all too happy. In fact, they had hoped that they take the reader to themselves and have her reside on Driftmark.
Surprisingly, Rhaenys finds herself taking Daemon’s side, trying to persuade the reader to wed Viserion. Rhaenys even goes as far as to propose letting Jace wed Baela and Luke to Rhaena. However, even if Rhaenyra ever agrees to this proposal, she’ll continue to find ways to bring Jace and the reader close, having him accompany her whenever she goes, and even letting her ride Vermax during travels.
Daemon, on the other hand, relies on Viserion to do it himself, he is his father’s son after all. Viserion is much more forward, participating in tournaments, and vying for the honor of crowning the reader, challenging any suitors who dare come between him and her.
The siblings also choose sides, with Luke and Joffrey supporting their brother and Baela and Rhaena doing the same to theirs. Baela and Rhaena have a better advantage as they can easily enjoy girl time with the reader, akin to sleepovers where they persuade you into giving in to their brother's advances. However, Luke and Joffrey somehow find a way of tricking you to help them with something only to find yourself conveniently alone with Jace.
Despite, Viserion appearing to have an apparent advantage, it all changes when Viserys comes in. He of course advocates for Jace, in his eyes the reader deserves nothing more than to be a queen, and what a wonderful queen she’ll make. He’s also had his issues over the reader’s namesake, being Laenor’s daughter she had to have his Velaryon name; marrying Jace would solve all that without causing any problems with the Velaryons. Funny enough, Daemon himself finds weding Viserion to be a solution to that issue as well.
Otto and Alicent, predictably, oppose both matches, with Alicent seeing all faults in Nyra’s sons and Otto is vehemently against the idea of a marriage between the reader and Daemon’s son. The two are doing all they can do to sabotage any potential matches, Otto is sure that all he needs is some time for when Aegon becomes king, they can just wed them.
Meanwhile, it doesn’t take one to say that the animosity between Aegon and Aemond is growing, but it intensifies with Viserion and Jace. Whenever the family visits, it usually ends with a fight breaking out. To prevent any possible accident mishaps, no more than one can participate in any tourneys.

you’re the heir to the iron throne. you’re a targaryen, that’s all that matters. you listen to your mother, because mother knows best and because she has loved you from the very first moment she felt your first kicks, she has loved you as best as any mother can.
you’re jacaerys velaryon and you love your father, fathers. one teaches you chivalry and the other teaches you that honour comes in many forms. your fathers hold love in their hearts that remains as the worst kept secret in court, and you love them as a boy loves the ones who teach him what it means to be a man.
you love them as they disappear, taken by fire, taken by the flames and you mourn them as your mother swears vows to fourteen flames, blood dripping from her lip as she promises her heart to another. he’s not your father. he isn’t ever going to be your father.
you’re the heir to the iron throne. you lose your sister, then you lose your brother. you run north, you fly where the air is so cold that your breath is mist, you see a land so vast and wild that you are sure that the old gods live within the root of each tree.
this is not home.
your home was taken by the flames many years ago, your home was stolen by the stranger long ago.
you’re the heir to the iron throne, you must do your duty and you kill the boy so that the man can live. you haven’t been a boy in a very long time.
you’re fighting your mother’s war, avenging your brother’s death and you’re a targaryen, that’s all that matters, that’s all that matters in this war, targaryens fighting against targaryens, fire in their blood.
you wonder if your fathers would be proud of the man you’ve become. you wonder if they hear you screaming at night, the night terrors trying to claim you as you see your brother torn in half and you see your mother’s hands cut by the throne.
you cannot be afraid. only boys are afraid.
(you were a boy once. that boy died in the flames, he died with his fathers.)
you’re a man now. you’re the heir to the throne. you’re a targaryen, that’s all that matters.

Build-a-fic: Dad!Aemond
Featuring: Aemon Targaryen (oc), nameless wife who is Rhaenyra’s daughter and queen of westeros making Aemond her consort.
Tumblr media
He was seven and ten when he became a father.
Aemon was born in Dragonstone three moons after Aemond had accidentally killed Lucerys Velaryon, his own wife’s half-brother.
Aemond would not hold him until he was nearly six moons old, when his mother had escaped Kingslanding after Lady Mysaria had poisoned Rhaenyra against her own heir.
He had wept when he first held him, to see him after all those months of Aemond and his wife waited with all the fear and joy pregnancy came with.
Aemon, named after her grandmother’s father and because it was just one letter away from being Aemond.
He was the promise of peace, of knowing that he would not have his family die in a war that should have never happened to begin with.
Aemon, first of his name, king of westeros, prince of peace.
“Ke-pa.”
It is soft, but sure and accompanied but little hands trying to wake him instead of his mother on his other side.
He was a name day old, just weeks ago they had the celebratory hunt where his first words had been better than the buck he had brought down for his lovely wife and son.
Aemon had said mama a moon ago, he had never said kepa or even papa yet.
“Hmn?” Aemond is unsure if he heard it right, but his eye remains shut to see if he can get his little son to say it again.
“Ke-pa.” the boy said again, this time his little hands reaching for his good eye. “Up.”
Most children are afraid of his scars and lack of eye, but not his son, not his perfect little prince.
No, to Aemon this was familiar and comforting. Strange and yet as comforting as his favorite blanket or his dragon egg.
“You are up early this morning, ñuhe trēsi.” Aemond finds himself unable to contain a smile as he whispers to his sweet little son. “Now, if you wake up your muña, we can get started with our day.”

You ever think about how Rhaenys's children were killed in ways that made them unrecognisable to her? There was no peaceful-looking body, no final look to commit to memory. Something to say goodbye to, something to dress, even.
There were bones for her daughter.
And burnt flesh for her son.

I’m seeing so many people say they dislike Rhaenys because she neglected Jace and Luke (Rhaenyra’s kids) and she’s doing them wrong by wanting Baela and Rhaena as heirs to Driftmark, but I feel like people are forgetting that Laena was the oldest child. If it weren’t for Laena being a woman, she would’ve inherited Driftmark but instead it’s now Laenor’s and his line. Since Corlys is constantly saying the Rhaenys should’ve been on the throne, she was calling him out on his hypocripsy. Sure, you could argue that Rhaenys is aware of the fact that Jace and Luke are not Laenor’s child, but I think it’s less so that she has animosity to the boys and Rhaenyra and more so ensuring her daughter and her granddaughter’s are taken care of and honored.

I find it real funny how some HOTD fans will rally behind the notion of Luke (+ Jace and Joffery) being BOTH Rhaenyra's and Daemon's sons, but will be real quiet when you bring up on, in the same regards, Baela and Rhaena are also Rhaenyra's daughters. Like they will spin their words in so many ways, trying to paint it as if they aren't throwing aside these two main black characters and it shows. Following the logic of Rhae's oldest sons being Daemon's as well, why do so many believe that without Visenya Rhaenyra no longer has a daughter? She has two now, who I'm sure she even considers as such, so what's the problem with the fandom? Hmm? 🤨.

Velaryon Family Tree
Tumblr media
Family Tree made up by me
I chose to re-make this work
...
Velaela Velaryon I the Bold had been a Seahorse Dreamer who had embarked in many adventures during her lifetime, in which she had found many riches and took them back home.
Velaela was said to have been a sorcerer and to also have spoken with the Merling King who according to tales communicated with Velaela through dreams.
Velaela the Bold taught all her children from her four marriages how to sail and the basics of many spells. From her is that the current line of the Velaryons descend.
Velaela the Bold's descendant: Velaela Velaryon II the Settler would honor her foremother's legacy by moving out of Valyria to other parts of the world, some of her siblings went to Valyrian colonies like Lys and Volantis whereas Velaela II sailed to Westeros.
In Westeros Velaela helped her kin settle in the island of Driftmark by negotiating with the smallfolk and it is said the Merling King gave her the Driftmark to protect and keep for her family.
Hundreds of years later her descendant Velaenys Velaryon would set sail to to visit her Velaryon relatives in Lys and Volantis and when she came back she brought many riches and proved she had inherited the magic gifts of her ancestor Velaela the Bold.
Velaenys would eventually become the ruling Lady of Driftmark, she wed twice and from her first marriage her daughter Velaenya was born and years later in her second marriage Velaenys had a boy named Aerion.
Velaenys declared Velaenya as her heir and trained her in the arts of sorcery and bards still sing about how Velaenya's wit and beauty made her even richer than her mother.
Velaenya was the mother of Khaella Velaryon who in turn was the mother of Vaellon Velaryon; Vaellon wed the oldest daughter of Maegon Targaryen -who had abdicated his inheritance of Dragonstone to live in tranquility to his brother Aerys- Aemollie Targaryen and they had Daemon Velaryon.
Aerion sired Rhaenor Velaryon who in turn wed Aellodie Velaryon, the youngest daughter of Maegon Targaryen who had had her in his old days. Rhaenor and Aellodie's daughter Valaena wed the heir to Dragonstone lord Aerion Targaryen becoming the parents of the Conquerors.
Daemon had had children with another woman before his marriage to Aemelle - daughter of the Targaryen explorer lady Aemyn with the lord Saeron Targaryen, cousins of Lord Aerion Targaryen - and together they had three sons: Aethan, Aellar and Corlys.
Daemon and Aemelle would later have four sets of twins in their old days; two of them went to live in Lys and Volantis, and the other two in Isle of Tarth and Estermont, all of them wedding Velaryons of old with whom they exerted power.
Aethan Velaryon, the eldest son of Daemon Velaryon, wed lady Alarra Massey the daughter of Lord Massey and Lady Anya Targaryen, who was the daughter of Lord Baelon Targaryen -after his brother Aelyx died without trueborn heirs- who did not have trueborn sons and therefore Dragonstone went to his brother Daemion, Aerion Targaryen's father.
Aethan and Alarra Massey had seven children; four boys and three girls which included Lady Alyssa Velaryon who would eventually become queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Daemon Velaryon the Lord Admiral of both Maegor the Cruel and Jaehaerys Targaryen.
Aellar's granddaughter Larissa Velaryon was a lady in waiting to her second cousin Princess Rhaena and her daughter Valeria Velaryon made an edict in which she decreed she would pass her last name to her future descendants.
And Corlys became one of the first members of the Kingsguard of King Aegon I Targaryen.
After Alyssa Velaryon was able to make her son Jaehaerys king after the war against Maegor Targaryen and avenge the deaths of her first two sons Aegon and Viserys and the hostage taking of her daughter Rhaena Targaryen and granddaughters Aerea and Rhaella, Alyssa wed Rogar Baratheon with whom she had Boremund and Jocelyn Baratheon.
Another brother of Alyssa wed a lady of House Wylde for the sake of alliances and their daughter Lucilla wed Lord Boremund Baratheon. Boremund's uncle Ronnal wed lady Aenna Velaryon one of the grandchildren of the deceased Lord Daemon Velaryon through one of his sets of twins.
Daemon, the son of Aethan and Alarra, wed his cousin Lady Viserra Velaryon and together they had Corwyn, Jorgen, Victor and four daughters.
Corwyn and his wife Coraella Velaryon had Vaellor, Corlys, Anyssa, Ellenia and Aeijion Velaryon.
Ellenia married Louis Velaryon, a Velaryon located in a fortress of Volantis, (it was rumored she slept with his sister Willow too) and had two daughters and three sons by him.
Anyssa married a Velaryon trader called Sung-Moo Jeon whose parents lived in Storm's End, she got to travel the world alongside Sung-Moo and they had two daughters and five sons and after his death due to a fever she wore black symbolizing her grief which she endured until her death.
After five years of being a widow she married her cousin Aemion and they had two sons.
Aeijion had a tranquil life with his wife Vaenice Velaryon and they had five sons.
Even though Vaellor had been born before Corlys he had died and his oldest son with his wife Kean Velaryon, Vaemond, had shown an ambition greater than his common sense and wit, after a council in which they deemed Corlys better suited for the Driftwood throne Corlys Velaryon son of Corwyn Velaryon was made Lord of Driftmark.
Vaemond -who had wed a Velaryon cousin- and his oldest son Daemion Velaryon always tried to get Driftmark but Vaemond had been executed after declaring the three sons Rhaenyra Targaryen had birthed during her marriage to Lord Laenor who all had chestnut brown hair and light brown eyes (and many whispered had been fathered by Ser Harwin Strong) were bastards.
After the Red Spring, in which Lord Corlys' children with his wife The Princess Rhaenys The Queen Who Never Was, Laena and Laenor Velaryon died, and Laenor's supposed sons Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey Velaryon died in the Dance of the Dragons, Driftmark went to Laenor's bastard son Addam Waters (though many think his brother Alyn and him were actually Corlys' bastard sons with Marilda of Hull) who had been legitimized by Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, and after his death his brother Alyn became the heir to Driftmark and ruled it after Lord Corlys died.
After an attack of the Silent Five a group formed of the deceased Vaemond Velaryon's cousins, the sons of Lord Aeijion Velaryon, Alyn wed Princess Baela Targaryen, one of the twin daughters of Lady Laena Velaryon and Prince Daemon Targaryen.
Alyn and Baela's ward and cousin Daenaera Velaryon was the granddaughter of Vaemond Velaryon through his second and youngest son Lord Daeron Velaryon with Lady Hazel Harte.
After being presented in the Maiden Ball Daenaera wed King Aegon III Targaryen who was the paternal half-brother of Princess Baela.
Baela and Alyn had two trueborn children: Laena, and Corlys who was the youngest of their children together, both their children had a legacy of greatness.
*Alyn also had an affair with Princess Elaena the daughter of Aegon III and Daenaera during the last days of life of Princess Baela Targaryen when she was sick and continued it after her death, however Alyn got lost in the sea during the second half of the year 172 AC and Princess Elaena who had borne him bastard twins in 173 AC had to accept in 175 AC that Alyn would not come back.
Alyn's bastards with Princess Elaena, Jon and Jeyne had been taken care of by their second cousin Prince Daeron and Princess Myriah Martell and both Jon and Jeyne wed into House Waxley and House Borrell from the Vale, Jon's trueborn son in the end gave a new last name to himself, his children and future descendants: Longwaters.
Elaena's sister Princess Rhaena who had become a septa took it upon herself between 173-174 AC to regain the trust of House Velaryon by being by their side building fortresses and buildings and paying them the weight of her bastard nephew and niece in gold and Princess Elaena later sent her son Viserys Plumm to be a squire for the Velaryons during some years before leaving to squire for House Serrett.*
Baela and Alyn's first son Corlys Velaryon wed Velaela Velaryon who was a descendant of Ellenia Velaryon. The current rulers of Driftmark descend from Corlys Velaryon, the son of Baela Targaryen and Alyn Velaryon.
Viseron, Corlys' son had married Haellia Velaryon who was a descendant of Valeria Velaryon and exerted a great influence in the Stormlands, they made peace with all the other branches of House Velaryon.
Baela and Alyn's firstborn child and firstborn daughter as well was Laena who had learnt how to glide through the air alongside her mother, and she helped many children in the whole realm, as well as fund the education of many with her cousin Rhaena the Septa. Laena had wed a Velaryon lord son who was the son of Daemion Velaryon.
Corlys' sons and Laena's sons were wed to distant Velaryon cousins and to Princess Rhaena's grandchildren.
Corlys' granddaughter Viseriya had been wed to Lord Caron as an arrangement made by Daeron II when Dorne joined the Seven Kingdoms.
A Velaryon lord had also been considered as a betrothed for Princess Aelora Targaryen before she died.
When the Prince Duncan Targaryen spurned his Baratheon bride the lady Elenei Baratheon, King Aegon V wed the lady to the young Lord Alexar Velaryon, and when Prince Jaehaerys did the same with lady Celia Tully, King Aegon V wed her to the lord Aexor Velaryon who had made a fortune for himself and his branch of the Velaryons family and in the end they were able to enrich themselves.
Many generations have passed and today House Velaryon still have the position of Lord of the Tides and their dominion of Driftmark and High Tide, being a proud and resilient House.

Just had the thought of Dalton Greyjoy showing up at reader’s nameday celebration feast and them dancing like 3 songs straight and reader is into it cause this is a MAN fr and he’s so chill with his crazy it’s hard to care lol. The entire family would hateee it it like the disgust would be visible on their faces. I wonder who’d cut in first Aemond or Viserion? 🤔
Oh my god Anon, that is the last person we want to add to the mix
But in all honesty, no one ever expected the Dalton Greyjoy to waltz into the reader’s name day celebration. The Ironborn are known to mock such feasts and for Dalton to not only invite the reader for a dance but for her to have to keep up with him. Unlike other Westeros men who make such an effort to win the reader over with lavish gifts and smooth talk, Dalton strikes me as a quintessential "classic bad boy." He is blunt in his desires.
Aemond's only eye is twitching as he watches Dalton act all "vulgur". And Laenor is finding that, for the first time in his life, he agrees with the blacks and the greens. It is necessary to restrain Viserion before he causes a scene, and it is also necessary to restrain Daemon before he and his son pursue the Ironborn. As you can imagine, the entire family is aiming daggers at Dalton whenever he suggests that the reader might visit the Iron Islands. With daggers at his back, Dalton, the man he is, will continue to flirt with you.
And if by some miracle the reader marries Dalton, it may be the push that Viserys needs to kick the bucket.

A future fic carcass I'll write when I write (after I finish 9 ungoing fics)
King Viserys dies at the wedding celebration of his daughter, Crown Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
No one else does.
I am a firm believer Otto and Viserys are the rot on the face of the House of the Dragon and without these two everything would be fine-ish.
Unfortunately, we need Vissy T for his kids to be born, so Viserys dies soon after Aemond is conceived. Sorry, Daeron, not this time.
Joffrey doesn't die because he doesn't manage to provoke Criston before the king dies.
Rhaenyra overrules his father's decision and marries Harwin Strong.
Their son Jacaerys Targaryen is the heir to the throne, Lucerys Targaryen is the heir to Harrenhal.
Daemon marries Laena and lives at Dragonstone (Rhaenyra grants him that), their firstborn is the heir of Driftmark.
Laenor joins the Queensguard and is sent to Dragonstone to protect Prince Daemon (ha) and his future heirs.
Criston Cole becomes the Commander of City Watch while still retaining his white cloak (what? He did it in canon, can do it here).
Rhaenyra removes Tyland Lannister as the master of ships and appoints Corlys Velaryon (back).
When Baela and Rhaena are born, it is decided to betroth Prince Aegon and Lady Baela, making him future lord-consort of Driftmark (and successfully removing him out of succession of the iron throne).
When Jace is born, his and Helaena's betrothal is announced.
Baelon is born without an issue and the royal family meets at the celebration on Dragonstone, where Aemond claims Cannibal and loses an eye in the process.
(Kinslayer, everyone. It fits).
Afterwards Luke is sent as a ward to Harrenhal with his father. A huge ass scene ensures there Luke clings to Aemond and refuses to go.
Aegon makes a greasy comment and gets punched.
Both Aegon and Baela are sent as wards to Driftmark.
Lucerys still leaves.
Harrenhal doesn't burn bc even if Larys kills Harwin and Luke, there's still Lyonel and Joffrey in the equation. Lyonel keeps serving Queen Rhaenyra as her Hand.
Years later the royal family meets at the wedding celebration of Baela and Aegon, where Luke and Aemond behave very much like Rhaenyra and Daemon at Rhaenyra's not happened wedding.
Rhaenyra and Alicent clutch at their pearls, Rhaenyra suggests father died because of seeing something like that.
Daemon asks if she implies they killed Viserys, then asks where is Baelon.
Laena replies Baelon is playing knights with Joffrey.
Rhaenyra and Harwin Strong (no) have three more children, Aegon, Viserys and Visenya, all silver-haired like their mother (her uncle).
Laena is fine with it, they have a poly. Laena doesn't have more children because Baelon's birth was a ghasty one.
Baelon claims the Grey Ghost.
Otto is never called back to the capital because (suprise!) Rhaenyra didn't rush to kill her 3 y.o brother or the other one who was born after Viserys' death. Instead she marries Aegon off so he's no threat.
Aemond eventually joins the Queensguard and is appointed to the future lord of Harenhall.
Lucerys refuses to marry and appoints his brother Viserys as his heir, who marries Visenya. They have a very good life in Harrenhal.
The reason Luke skips over Joffrey is because Joffrey is always at the sea (with Baelon), and Aegon the Younger is bethrothed to Baela and Aegon the Elder' firstborn, Laena.
Everyone lives happily ever after, Otto gets to be the head of the house Hightower after he successfully plots against his own kin, since his blood is secured on the throne, if in unconventional for him way.
He once tried to manipulate Aegon, but was cut off sharply by Rhaenys and Corlys, who kind of adopted the boy as theirs.
Aegon enjoys wandering about Essos very much, he, of course, whores around, but he and Baela have an agreement. One of Baela's children is born from Alyn of Hull, but no one is any wiser, since everyone just thinks the child looks like her.
Jacaerys and Helaena have three kids, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera and then Maelor.
Jaehaera is oldest and so is the heir.
Oh, and Rhaena is happily married to Corwyn Cobray. They have a daughter, Rhaenys.
#hotd#hotd au#queen rhaenyra#hotd fanfic#fuck viserys#i will write it one day bc i have such a vivid image of the scenes such as: viserys' death. rhaenyra overruling her father's decision#explaining it and trying to mediate it so Corlys wouldn't start another war#'i thought it was in the tradition for the king or queen to marry their hand's child'#the greens' FACES at that#rhaenyra gathering Laenor and his entire fam and suggesting queensguard#“but then he won't be able to wed a woman. have a family-”#-exactly *Rhaenyra and Laenor lock gases. she nods. he nods.* -i accept#Aemond just fucking WANDERING AWAY TO CLAIM THE SCARIEST ASS DRAGON THAT IS THERE#the total panic then Laenor finds him and brings back with EYE LESS. (he almost got to the castle but fainted mid way)#corlys trying to push for baelon as the heir and laena&rhaenys being: “NO”#the unspoken kinship in the house of whoring around. Harwin being like “i support my wife's wrongs” and loving egg vis and visenya as his#NO ONE KNOWING THEY'RE NOT HIS. LIKE LEGIT THEY COULD BE HIS OR HARWIN'S. EVEN RHARNYRA DOESN'T KNOW#aegon living his best life as a sailor and explorer#Aemond looking at Laenor and being like “i can do that too”#laenor living THE BEST LIFE by his sis and her husband/his friend's side. and Joffrey is ALIVE#criston eventually getting over himself and accepting that Rhaenyra indeed couldn't run away with him#like imagine if they run away and then vissy t died#whoops i guess#also i just realized i accidentally made it so that Harrenhal is eventually ruled not by Strongs but Daemon's kids#lmao i guess#They are Targaryens (tm) your honor#the amount of dragons they're about to have...like harrenhal has 4 just with luke aemond and visx2#Dragonstone has 3 even if all kids scatter about#cobrays have 2 (Rhaena's and her daughters)#driftmark has at least 3 and then Laena is born and its 4

About the parentage of the three Velaryon princes...
Just my rant. If you don’t like it, back out now.
The House of the Dragon producers made the Velaryons black and changed Rhaenys’ hair color to make it obvious that Rhaenyra’s children were bastards.
The Velaryons shares the Valryian look of the Targaryens.
House Velaryon is of Valyrian descent, and its members often have Valyrian features, such as silver-gold or silver hair and purple eyes. Some Velaryons have blue eyes. — Fire & Blood, The Sons of the Dragon
In contrast to the tv show, book!Rhaenys has black hair because she inherited it from her mother, Jocelyn Baratheon.
Rhaenys was a great beauty. She had black hair and lilac eyes. By the time she was fifty-five, she had a lean, lined face and her black hair was streaked with white. — Although The Princess and the Queen, published in 2013, stated that Rhaenys had silver hair, this has been changed for the publication of Fire & Blood, where she is described to have had black hair, like other Baratheon descendants.
Jace, Luke, and Joffrey could’ve inherited their dark hair from either or both their parents. Laenor’s maternal grandmother is a Baratheon. However, we have no knowledge about Corlys’ parents. Rhaenyra’s maternal grandfather was an Arryn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regarding Harwin Strong, the alleged father of the Velaryon princes, we don’t know the color of his hair or eyes or the shape of his nose, so we can’t actually confirm that he resembled the children. The book asks us to assume they looked like him because the accusations were made in the first place.
Breakbones was said to be the strongest man in the Seven Kingdoms in his day. He was described as being massive and redoubtable. — Fire & Blood, Heirs of the Dragon - A Question of Succession
The only confirmed member of the House Strong whose hair color we know is Lucamore the Lusty, once a member of the Kingsguard.
Lucamore was described as an amiable, strapping, broad-shouldered, young blond bull. He was a great favorite of the smallfolk in tourneys and was well loved at court. — Fire & Blood, The Long Reign - Jaehaerys and Alysanne: Policy, Progency, and Pain
...and he’s blonde.
About the accusations, wasn’t it Vaemond Velaryon and the Greens started those rumors?
With his trueborn children dead, by law his lands and titles should pass to his grandson Jacaerys… but since Jace would presumably ascend the Iron Throne after his mother, Princess Rhaenyra urged her good-father to name instead her second son, Lucerys. Lord Corlys also had half a dozen nephews, however, and the eldest of them, Ser Vaemond Velaryon, protested that the inheritance by rights should pass to him… on the grounds that Rhaenyra’s sons were bastards sired by Harwin Strong. The princess was not slow in answering this charge. She dispatched Prince Daemon to seize Ser Vaemond, had his head removed, and fed his carcass to her dragon. — The Rogue Prince
Yes, what Rhaenyra did to Vaemond was cruel. But she’d been made the subject of these rumors for 6 years by the Greens, and it had gotten to a point where Alicent and her children were taking them as fact and using them as justification to attack her sons.
Imagine that Rhaenyra’s children were legitimate. How should she have responded? Vaemond openly declared that he was going to oppose the legitimacy of both the heir to the throne and his future liege lord for very self-serving reasons.
Perhaps I’m just reaching here, but what if the Velaryon princes indeed had a Valyrian looks but were written down as having brown hair and brown eyes to demonize Rhaenyra? To show that she’s unfit to rule because she birthed three illegitimate children?
Tumblr media
After all, Grand Maester Mellos was in charge of writing the court chronicles during King Viserys’ reign before dying and also a Green supporter.
In 120 AC, Mellos in his writings is the one that suggested that the fire at Harrenhal that killed Lord Lyonel Strong and his heir, Ser Harwin Strong, was ordered by Viserys. Mellos implies that the king had come to accept the rumors that his grandchildren by his daughter, Rhaenyra, were really bastards sired by Harwin, thus he desired to keep the truth concealed and kill the man who had dishonored his daughter. — Fire & Blood, Heirs of the Dragon - A Question of Succession
I enjoy watching Game of Thrones: Histories and Lore. So when I began to watch the story about the Targaryen civil war, I’m quite interested.
These are the Velaryon princes, Jace, Luke, and Joffrey plus Aegon the Younger and Viserys.

This is Prince Lucerys Velaryon.

I’m quite interested that they all have silver-blonde hair instead of brown hair. Or perhaps it’s just an error on the colorist’s part.

They become bolder as time passes.
Bold enough to fuck in her rooms even knowing Aegon can hear them.
They wanted to make a whore out of her, she will give them a whore.
It is an open secret in court that Aegon cannot have a child and that Aemma has his explicit consent to fuck whom she pleases.
She may have had a hand in spreading such rumor.
Mostly because Alicent has been hounding her about not being successful in the first three weeks.
Aemma is being forced to eat more meat, been given aphrodisiacs to get her in the mood ---as if she needed any help in that regard--- and been told which days she was most fertile.
Aemma nods and inwardly cackles like a witch because they have yet to discover her secret weapon.
“I never want this to end.” Aemond admits as they lay naked in her bed, drinking some light peach wine she is very fond of and pretending nothing exists beyond this bed.
“Neither do I.” She kissed the scar on his right arm. He hummed in pleasure and pulled her face back to his.
Being with him was addicting. Even before they became lovers, his company made silence bearable and her worst days slightly better by just being there with her.
She has feelings for him, knows that the feelings are mutual and yet to call them love feels too soon.
It’s the sex that has her confusing lust and friendship with it, she thinks.
Besides, he seduced her on her husband’s suggestion and was willing to never tell her that.
And then there was his hatred towards her family ---especially Luke--- and the whole him being very on board with usurping her mother to keep the status quo even if it means becoming a kinslayer.
It can’t be love.
It can never be love.
But it sure feels like it.
“I’d like to watch the two of you one of these days, I’ve never even new my pretty wife could make sounds like that.” Aegon walks in, barely wearing his trousers that show the effect said performance had on him.
“Go away.” Aemond gestures him to fuck off as Aemma fights the urge to fuck Aemond in front of her husband in revenge for the humiliations heaped upon her in the beginning of their marriage.
You know those months where she gave him a chance to show he could be a good husband and yet chose to seek the company of whores because monogamy is not in his dictionary nor is caring for anyone who isn’t himself.
“No, she is my wife, and these are my rooms too. Your job is to fuck a son into her, and even then, you’re failing at that.” Aegon said as he helped himself to Aemma’s peach wine. “Gods, Aemma don’t you have anything stronger.”
“Leave, Aegon.” Aemma has no time for this today. “Who knows perhaps your whoring about left me barren as well.”
“I was perfectly fine until Harrenhal, every whore I fucked got with child on the first try.” He threw back at her and later mutters, “Every whore except you.”
Aemma would gladly kill Aegon, and yet she is restraining Aemond who lunged at him not caring he is his brother.
“Get. Out. Now.” His brother snarls and Aemma holds him back because it isn’t worth it.
“He’s not worth it. Don’t let him get to you, Aemond.” she tries to calm him down, holding tight onto him so he cannot take the dagger on the side table and kill him.
Aemond always had been short of temper, time had only made him more dangerous.
“Please, Aemond. For my sake, don’t do something you’ll regret.”

“Oh, Gods.” Rhaenyra feels sick to her stomach when Lady Misery sends a full report on the goings-on in the Red Keep.
Alicent, who hated her and harassed them for her affair had turned around and forced her daughter into adultery with none other than her younger brother.
The boy who would have killed Lucerys had he not taken his eye in self-defense.
The boy Rhaenyra would have tortured to keep her children safe from harm.
The boy who seduced her daughter in revenge.
And what better revenge than making sure the crown passes to him?
To think all this could have been avoided if father had just wed Rhaenyra to Harwin from the beginning.
“I told you she was a snake.” Daemon says as he reads the letter. “Your poor daughter. If you would let me, I can have their heads on a silver platter for the two of you.”
The only way her husband can offer comfort is by hurting or killing someone.
When Qarl murdered Laenor, Rhaenyra did not even need to ask him to hunt him down and present him to her goodfamily, so they knew they were innocent.
Corlys and Rhaenys were family, and while they knew Rhaenyra had no hand in their son’s death, they suspected Daemon who has only been looking to marry her since Rhaenyra flowered.
Daemon had not ordered his death as some believe, Daemon had caught Qarl Correy informing Ser Otto’s men about the status of the fleet and gave Laenor the opportunity to kill him or make him leave forever.
As you can guess Laenor was clouded by love and the good moments with him to believe he would kill him.
Now Daemon offers to avenge Aemma’s honor and innocence by killing those responsible.
“No, not until we know the truth of it from Aemma’s own words.” The Princess of Dragonstone tossed the letter into the fire and thanked him for his suggestion anyways.
“Should I ring for your handmaiden, or do you wish to start the preparations for our return to court tomorrow?” her husband asks, no trace of his justified anger except in his bloody smile.

To no one’s surprise, Aegon seeks out Lady Wylde and tells her she’s been replaced.
“I do hope you put your education at my hands to good use, your highness.” Lady Jena Wylde whispered with a wink when they ran into each other at a salon where she joins him at a table while he plays cards by himself.
They had been lovers even before she became Jasper Wylde’s fourth wife and stepmother to his nine and twenty children.
When their affair began, she was Jena Mertyns, wife of the Lord of Mistwood. Lord Mertyns had gotten her with child and the miscarriage had left her barren and Mertyns falling off his horse a widow, and when both teenagers were left alone enough, nature took its course.
They had not been in love ---at least he hadn’t--- but there was some fondness especially when she came back to court as the Fourth Lady Wylde last year.
She was his real first, not the whore Aegon paid for on his three and tenth nameday.
“I do not know what you speak of, my lady.” He tensed but dared not to show it.
“Your affair with our darling Princess Aemma, my dear prince.” She said with a far too cheerful lilt in her voice. “Lucky, lucky man. Your brother said you are tasked with siring a bastard onto his whore of a wife ---his words not mine--- and that you should be getting Storm’s End’s heiress as a reward.”
“Lower your voice, no one is to know about this, Jena.” He warned knowing she was smarting from losing her coveted position even if only a handful of people knew she was his ---former--- mistress.
“My lips are sealed, pretty boy.” Lady Wylde said lying through her teeth.

Idk if it been done yet but what about Rhaenrya and Laenors having a daughter since they both confirmed that they did try for kid. (Because it’s hard to imagine myself as Jaces twin or Aemond/Aegon’s twin :/). I’ll send in more ideas if want me too.
i've seen a few of fics of rhaenyra and laenor having a daughter and i love all of them. the potential.
you were rhaenyra's eldest child. The only child she's sire with Laenor Velaryon. You bore the Valyrian looks, white hair and amethyst eyes.
You inherited your father's darker skin tone. Your were your father's pearl. Loved by your grandparents as well.
When your brothers were born bearing no resemblance to you, you never spoke of it, never loved them less. You played with them and read stories to them and kissed them goodnight.
But you could still hear the whispers of the court, still feel the queen's skeptical eye on you.
when brother's eggs hatched but yours remained stone cold, you locked yourself away to cry and then it occurred to you. Mother was moving you to dragonstone, where wild dragons laid.
All you had to do was wait.
Wait you did.
You fled into the pit area of dragonstone where you saw him.
Black as night. The Cannibal.
"Lykiri." You whispered to him as his toxic green eye peered at you cautiously. "Lykiri, Cannibal. Dohaeras."
He peered at you, his jaw opening slightly but your gaze never faltered and he bowed his head to you.
You could feel the bond forming between you both, you pressed your hand to his snout and pet his softly. "Kirimvose." You whispered.
You were the blood of the seas and of the dragon. No one could tell you otherwise.
You remained unaware until later that as you became a true dragon, your aunt had died by hers.
