Warnings: none. The term “queen” is used but not supposed to be seen as a gendered name in Jareth’s silly little eyes.

A beautiful day in the Labyrinth! The sun was warm against my skin, I was working in the garden, it was great! I had my hair tied back with a bandana as to not get in my way and wore more informal clothes. I hummed as I worked, the labryinth gardens were always stunning.
“Excuse me? Could you help me?” I turned around to see a teenage girl in a white shirt. She had long black hair clipped away from her eyes and big hazel eyes.
I had never seen her before.
“Oh? Hello.. I’ve never seen you around here before,” I held my hand out, “I’m y/n.” I spoke with a certain warmth that had grown with me from living in the labryinth. She took my hand and shook it.
“Sarah, Sarah Williams.”
“SARAH??? SARAH???!!!!” Hoggle came hobbling through the bushes. I looked at him, sort of curious.
“Hoggle?”
“Oh! Y/n!?” He bowed his head in respect,
“Nonsense, I told you to stop with that.. you know Ms.Williams?” He crossed his arms,
“We have a deal.” I nodded a bit confused, she looked at me again.
“Do you know how to get to the castle beyond the goblin city?”
I nodded, “yes, I do. Is there something you need from the king?” She nodded frantically.
“Yes, yes. He gave me thirteen hours to solve the labryinth, he has my baby brother!” The realization hit me like a truck.
“Oh, so you’re running the labryinth… Hoggle is helping you..?” He looked at me, nervous. “You know the king will have your ass for that.”
“I ain’t doin’ nothin’! Like I said, we have a deal.” I look back at Sarah, and around the labryinth, making sure Jareth isn’t in sight, but knowing that he’s watching. I decide to humor him a bit.
“Look Sarah, I can take you as far as I can go, but I can’t promise anything. It won’t be far… but I know my way around.” Hoggle instantly seemed suspicious, but then again he had every right to be. The girl was filled with hope as I put the watering bucket down.
“Come along.” I started heading through the hedges, through ways she would have never found. I knew Jareth was messing with the Labryinth. Some passages were moved off. It was only a few minutes when I knew he was near.
“This is as far as I can take you.”
“You’re just going to leave us here!”
“Hey- I said I’d take you as far as I could go. Unlike some of you, I don’t want my head on the kings wall.”
“You’re just scared.” She spit out.
“Scared or smart? You choose.” I suddenly felt a looming presence.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” An older goblin, hunched over.
“Nothin’” Hoggle knew what was going on.
“Nothing? Nothing? Nothing tralalal?!” I took a few steps back myself, smirking to myself as Jareth revealed that it was him in all his glory. He always liked big entrances.
Hoggle gasped, “your majesty!” He bowed. Jareth spotted me, he had a playful glint.
“Are you two helping the runner?”
“No your majesty.”
“No sir,” Jareth’s eyes held a playful look, enjoying himself immensely.
“I’ll banish you both to the bog of eternal stench. You two better watch yourself.” Hoggle fell to his knees, begging. I didn’t bother as much to nod. He wouldn’t do anything to me, and I knew it. I rolled my eyes a bit as I watched him work, intimidating Sarah and eventually cheating her out. Suddenly the cleaners started to come, he disappeared and I climbed up the ladder, watching Sarah and Hoggle run. I shrugged and figured I’d never see them again as I climbed out the passage. I started my way back through the hedges as I felt two arms snake around my waist.
“You didn’t seem very frightened by my threat, my love.”
Jareth, of course. My husband.
“You wouldn’t, you love me too much.”
“Perhaps.. what were you doing with the runner.”
“I knew you’d catch up with us, so I wanted to have some fun with it. That’s all. Don’t worry, I didn’t even lead her towards the castle.” I could feel him chuckle.
“Good, pet. Why don’t you come back to the castle with me, hm?”
I smiled to myself and let him take my hand.
“Sure, I’ve got nothing I need to be doing.”

It had been a few hours since my interaction with Sarah Williams. I had sat in the throne room with Jareth as he obsessed over his runner. The goblins kept taunting the poor baby. Suddenly, a goblin ran in and informed Jareth that she was inside the city. He sent his goblins out and left to god knows where. I sat on his throne, lounging in the sun. It was a very nice day for the mood that Jareth was in. Suddenly a voice disrupted me.
“Y/n…?” I looked across the room to see Sarah.
“Damn- you really made it? With half an hour to spare..”
“What are you doing..? Why are you on his throne.. we thought that he took you prisoner.. I can help you.. I can get you home.” I smiled at her generosity.
“Home? Sweetheart, what do you mean?”
“I see you’ve met my queen, Sarah.” Jareth was standing there, eyeing her like prey as she talked to me. Obviously displeased with her wanting to take me away.
“Queen? You’re working with him Y/n? I thought you were a human?”
“Oh? I am.. Jareth is my husband.” I held up my hand, showing off the ring on my finger. Sarah went to look over at Jareth but he was gone.
“I’ve got to go find Toby!” She looked back at me on the throne, a look of pity on her face, as she ran through the stairway. I didn’t follow, I knew the routine, I had done it myself. I knew how this would work, down to the very words she’d say. It didn’t take long for Jareth to return to me, head hung low, a scowl on his face.
I frowned as he walked over, I stood up and let him sit on his throne, placing myself on his lap. I kissed his cheek.
“Bratty girl..” he mumbled.
“Did she insult you?”
He glared, obviously she did. I twirled one of his strands of hair,
“Poor thing.. it’s okay,”
“She insulted you.”
Oh.. oh?
“Me?”
“Yeah. She said you were brainwashed into staying with me… is that true..?”
“Absolutely not.” I spit out, “I love you Jareth. If I didn’t, I would have left a long time ago.”
“Yes.. you’re right. You are the queen after all.” I smiled and kissed him gently, the sun setting.
“It was funny seeing her shocked face.. you should do that more often.” He spoke, surprisingly.
“Anything for you, my love.”

Oh my God Kitty in ToonTown, the ultimate Alice in Wonderland AU.
She falls through that tunnel Eddie drives through and lands in a world where ecerything has a face and won't give her proper directions. Come to think of it, a 1980s style ToonTown would have Ralph Bakshi and Don Bluth creations so Kitty's wonderland would look more like Labyrinth 😂
Ooooohhhh my god!!!! Ok ok ok. I love Labryinth so much! Imagining a Labryinth AU with WFRR and Kitty as Sarah! We need to talk about that sometime.
But back to the Kitty in Toontown AU. Who would be the Queen of Hearts? Judge Doom I guess? And Alice going off on the queen; I can totally see Kitty yelling at Judge Doom like that. Though she doesn't need to grow bigger to gain that courage XD
And Kitty interacting with Don Bluth's and Ralph Bakshi's creations! That ought to be something. I'm more familiar with Don Bluths work than Ralph's, but I have heard of some of his films... And oh boy 😅

Okay so.
I had just watched David Bowie's Labryinth again for Halloween binging and I realized something.
Time gives me Jareth vibes. Absolutely, I can see Time as the Goblin King because it just fits perfectly.
Imagine reader being Sarah, just trying to save their younger sibling from being taken away from Jareth!Time. And the goblins could be the chain who are deliberately giving reader the wrong instructions so they lose unlike in the actual movie.
(Maybe reader fails to save their little sibling in the 13 hours they're given, and he takes reader in their younger sibling's place as his bride/groom/spouse 👀)
Also, Time in a corset is just 😫
That movie terrified me as a young teen omw, the puppets ☠️ it is forever engraved into my mind😭😭
Well considering Jareth is like 300 years old and Sarah was 15...err, I'm still a bit shocked and weirded out by that a lot as it's pedophilia BUT if the reader took Sarah's place and the reader was definitely aged up, then I'd consider it a possibility but Time would be far smarter, far more deceiving and yandere...
He'd look trusting, pull you in and console you as he keeps his identity hidden and he'll make sure you see him as a friend and fall in love with him only to slowly twist your heart and keep you locked up forever and you won't ever know it 😓
But YES. TIME IN A CORSET PLEASE 😩😭😭

Random thought: Aster as Sarah and Jet Puff as the Goblin King from Labryinth. As Aster is going through her trials, Jet Puff entertains baby Dani with his sheep. 😆
Oh my god baby Dani got traded off to the Goblin King, ooof Aster what the heck????!!
Dani is getting a kick out of it and giggles as Magic Dance plays and the sheep dance along meanwhile Aster is screaming angrily and cursing at the next obstacle.

What drew me to the media:
AH! I told you I was going to forget some. Already, right out of the gate! When I was a sophomore, I lived off Labryinth, Howl's Moving Castle, and other wizard love trope stories. But Labyrinth definitely kicked it off! I had seen the movie before, but I rewatched it along in the eaves of my dorm room. I had this single with a shared bathroom in the dormers of a big old building. It was very fairytale.
I was also stupid lonely, and the prospect of some guy spiriting me away to magical lands was deeply appealing. But the guy had to be...kind of messed up. I would say Jareth in Labyrinth fits in well for that. I already loved David Bowie (britophile, britophile) and I loved uuuh tight pants and the... total package. He's an edgelord (love the edgelords...at least distantly).
What made me a fan:
I'm going to say it was the power dynamics again. I know cursing and spitting and chewing out underage romances is all the rage right now, but I was...yaknow barely overage. I was only 19, one step above legal, but I still felt like a minor! I had barely kissed someone. (well...I kissed a lot of women at that point...eheh...liberal arts colleges, amirit? But I wasn't gay so it didn't mean anything. Good grief.)
In short, I'm thankful a bunch of real adults with real sexual experiences wrote some incredible romances with Jareth and Sarah, because there are some juicy ones out there! Some of them are super dark or super high fantasy! Some are very long! I loved slow burns at this time. It just was *sigh* so romantic.
I still think people that attack writers for underage are wasting their time. As if underage people don't have fantasies that need to be addressed in safe, manageable ways. And adults writing for young fold means that the information isn't teenager hormone crazy but grounded. Yaknow. Like honest!
That year these fanfictions were like my home. They kept me alive when I was sad.
Jeez! And the META! I'm a huge slut for meta, like yes please explain to me your theory. I'm listening. Because Labyrinth made so little sense, the meta to explain any of it is phenomenal.
Have I written fanfiction for it?
No! But I was actually writing during the time period. I took a creative writing class, and I wrote some batshit stuff. I don't have any of it anymore though :< Lost tot he winds of time.
Why or why not:
I was occupied mentally daydreaming. The idea of taking action on creating was too overwhelming for me.
Opinion on the fandom:
I think they are getting beat against the rocks for shipping Sarah/Jareth right now, so they are on the defensive. I encountered one a few years back. The really romantic unfinished Scorpius/OC story's writer did Labyrinth stories.
But it's also an old fandom. People get called to it periodically. If they can get over the hurdle of someone calling them a pedophile, they might write for it.
Would I read again?
No, I grew out of it. Jareth is a little too... pretty... for me these days. I also don't enjoy slow burns as much unless the payoff is something amazing or surprising.

These are some fics that I read recently! I’m working 11-11 overtime this weekend and missed posting yesterday sorry folks!

First off is this new multi-chapter fic from @nellblazer:
It’s a Far Cry/MCU crossover as you can see and I just love how Nell writes dark!MCU and crossover fics. It features a variety of our MCU faves with a female reader. The characterization is always on point and the elements blend way better than I ever thought possible. There are currently four chapters and I can’t wait for more! 10/10 because I’m a sucker for the dark and twisty and the smut-leaning chapters are just that good.

Then we’ve got this monster of a fic/series by @shurisneakers:
This fic/series boasts 14 chapters of Sam Wilson x Reader content with a forthcoming epilogue. It’s a whole ass novella filled with twists and turns and it’s hard for me to gush properly without going into spoilers. 😂 It had the vibes of a well written action thriller. 10/10 if this was a movie I would watch it all of the time.

Up next is this ongoing series by @kellyn1604:
This series currently boasts two expertly written parts featuring Jareth x Sarah with more to come. This series is written by an adult for adults and the sheer depth of the language and content shows and it is refreshing! What she does so wonderfully with writing for Labyrinth is how complicated the relationship dynamics are, and what I like the lost is how she tackles Sarah. Her age, the complexities of growing up, of loss and trauma- its navigated with an impressive ease. 10/10 It’s also some of the most enchanting fiction I’ve read in a while and I’m patiently looking forward to more, should the inspiration rise.

And last but not least I finally read through the last of this series by @laketaj24
This series is composed of Serotonin parts 1-3 and a new one-shot, It’s a No from Me. They’re all Colson Baker/MGK x Black!Fem!Reader. The series includes a generous amount of smut, drama, and feels. I particularly love how Laketa writes intense emotions. Wether is fighting, loving, or desperate need- the language is so compelling and folks I can’t recommend it enough. 10/10 get on that tag list folks I wouldn’t want to miss any MGK fics of Her’s!

He’d probably try to get you to help lure humans away with your friendly nature.
“Yo Jareth!” You stormed into the room flooding with goblins. Usually this would get the king riled up, but he didn’t care.
“Yes, Y/n?” He hummed, sitting haphazardly on his throne.
“Your runner fell through one of the holes you have in the maze.” He looked at you.
“Which one?”
“How many are there?”
“A lot.”
“Well shit-“
“Did they say anything important?” He looked at him, he seemed tired and fed up, but holding a civil conversation was very nice.
“Uh- no. Not really. Mostly just “I have to save Cleo! Oh naurrrr!” Jareth put a hand on his face and chuckled a bit.
“You have way too much fun with this-“
“I can’t help it!” He sat on one of the windows and watched the goblins run ramped, as they harassed the kiddo.
“Jareth?”
“Hm?”
“I’ve been meaning to ask- why is there a chicken in here?” Jareth looked at the other male very sternly.
“The goblins like to throw things at it.”
“HOW DID IT GET HERE!”
“I DON’T KNOW, IT’S VERY OLD.”
If he ever has time off, let him show you around the labryinth
He’d show you little secrets to lure other people through.
Look- he’s gotta make this fun for the both of you. Work is work, he’s allowed to have fun with it to.
He likes to watch you lead the runners off path, it’s very fun. You’re very convincing.
THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL TO THE RUNNER IS AT THE VERY END.
Jareth and the runner are face to face and all of a sudden, you, Jareth’s right hand man come lurking from the shadows.
Runner: shocked
Jareth: smug
You: having way too much fun.
“You’re working with him!? How could you?! I trusted you?!”
“Eh-“
You’re not evil- you did help the runner, a lot. But you need to have fun too, right?
Jareth would be a very good partner in crime.
