#kotlc alvar
POV: You and your sister have just managed to trap your evil older brother in a hive meant for troll babies. Trouble is, it's now starting to fill up with yellow goo, and he's screaming at you through the glass to let him out.

If Sophie introduced The Sims to her friends in the Lost Cities, Fitz would make Alvar in The Sims, put him in a pool, and "accidentally" delete the ladder.

alvar vacker's low quality life story
He's Fitz before Fitz is born. Alden's golden child. The perfect Vacker heir.
He's perfect. He's seamless. He's brilliant. He's Alden's favorite son. It tastes like smothering yourself and becoming a statue. It's everything anyone could ever want. It tastes like bile in the back of his throat when he says the wrong thing at a party. It's everything everyone wants. Alvar isn't a person but a doll. But Alvar doesn't care. Alden has his perfect son. His favorite son.
Then again, Alden doesn't have anyone to compare him to.
Alvar is proud to be a Vacker. He's proud to be himself. Sure, his father gets this look in his eyes when he manifests at age ten. Sure, it burns deep in his chest because he knows what his parents were looking for and it wasn't him. But he's fine.
He's Alden's favorite son. Alden doesn't have anyone to compare him to.
He's Della's favorite child. Della doesn't have anyone better.
And then, when he's eleven, Fitz is born. And his reality shatters. He slowly, slowly, softly, carefully, loses absolutely everything. Because Alvar is only good enough if there's no one to compare him to. He can no longer impress his father. Not with Fitz right there, teal eyes, smiles, smarter, brighter, fiercer, more like Alden. How did Alvar ever stand a chance?
And so he resorts to the next best thing, staying out of the way--- away from his parents' anger or manipulation and attention and it works and he's fine and it's okay.
And then Biana. And Alvar is out of a place again. Because when Biana turns three, she's the invisible child.
Fitz is golden, Biana is invisible, that leaves only one option left for Alvar. It's not a very good one.
He feels eyes on him at every turn. It's been three years since he's been seen, and it feels like violence every time his father hisses at him, his mother scolds him, his parents' friends laugh at him. He gets pushed around some. What else are they supposed to do with him? He's no one's favorite. He's not invisible.
He's horribly, horribly seen.
None of the Vacker children get the right kind of love. They get cheap replacements. Each one is cheaper than the next. Fitz gets praise and a box he can never move out an inch out of. Biana gets freedom and never being thought of. Alvar gets noticed and the pain of being seen without the warmth of being loved in the way that knows along with sees.
Alvar moves out the second after he finishes school. He never looks back.
Never.
He goes somewhere he'll never be seen again.
It all goes downhill from there.

wait, i just realized.
alvar could have leaped to the human world. sophie said he used a crystal that looked like it had been randomly torn out of somewhere, right? maybe it was blue and she just didn’t see it properly so she didn’t notice or something.
so shannon’s “big revelation” in unraveled could be alvar’s slow, painful death in the human world which keefe comes across.
this could actually be good, since we know keefe looked up to him like an older brother before his betrayal, so alvar’s last conversation with keefe could be something about that.
idk just a thought i had.

Watch me incoherently rant about the vackers and kinda vent and most definitely get information wrong for who knows how long
Fitz and Alvar (Fitz especially) as characters are just
Amazing and scarily relatable to me.
Starting with Fitz, he’s virtually the oldest sibling once Alvar becomes older and goes away on assignments or whatever a lot, and he’s held to a very high standard, not much different from the rest of his siblings.
But he’s successful in being the best, and now he’s expected to keep that up. And now it’s affecting his siblings’ expectations from parents, and he can tell they resent him for it.
Not to mention he reached the higher status by aiming to be like his older brother and being expected to be like him.
Now for Alvar. Something I hate that my parents make my younger siblings aim for is trying to get my grades or similar because I’ve had all As or 4s or 100s or whatevers since maybe first grade.
I hate it. Because they just aren’t me and shouldn’t be expected to be, but if they’re doing worse my parents will compare them to me. Fucking stupid.
But I feel like the way the Vackers and Alvar and Fitz especially were written is very similar to this situation and the situation of many families with a more gifted kid.
Alvar was a very smart, gifted, top boy type child. He’s even helped with government assignments from a pretty young age. When fitz moved to this age, he was expected to hold up the reputation paved by Alvar. But he did it better.
Alvar resents him. Fitz’s siblings are seen as below him.
The stress builds up and it gets worse and worse until it shows up in the form of anger issues. And people don’t help.
They just reprimand him for having them.
And it only makes it worse.
Fitz is too relatable anldejkellzjsk and I don’t want to feel like a bad person for saying this idk watch me be a fitz defender frfr
I have no idea where the rest was going. Get my man a therapy is all. please and carrots 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Okay bye if I got info wrong tell me or add on 😀

got the vacker brainrot but you guys know how Alvar is the outsider, the one who's too old and too seperate from his siblings, but what if that's whate everyone thinks and what everyone knows but what if. what if it's wrong. what if Fitz is the distant one. What if he seperates himself. maybe alvar and biana band together in their various hurts and pains. in flight from the impossibility of earning their parents' love, hiding together under beds when doors slam and silence aches inside of them. listening to each other read in the darkness, grabbing hands as they run away from the silent world they live in. and fitz doesn't go with. he stays. he faces the silence. he faces the slamming doors. he shuts his eyes to what he can't unsee. his ears to words he can't unhear. his siblings hiss "we'll get away someday" and he never responds because he knows. he knows he'll never ever leave. he won't leave his parents. no matter how far alvar and biana go together. he won't go with. because alvar and biana are smart enough, unmanipulated enough, can see something clearly. they can see what fitz can't. Alvar and Biana know that their dad isn't going to change. Their mom will always side with him. but fitz holds out hope. that maybe just maybe. just maybe and maybe. his parents will change their minds. he'll convince them. he's got it under control. they'll go easy on Alvar and Biana if he just manages to do what they want. He's perfect, he's their perfect kid, he's always been their perfect kid. perfect kids don't leave and perfect kids dont cry and perfect kids aren't stupid enough to listen to their idiot siblings and they know when to obey their parents. fitz is gonna be their perfect kid and he has hope that he'll earn it. he'll make them proud. fitz is really really good at convincing himself that he doesn't need his siblings and he doesn't need them he doesn't need anyone and they don't need him how dare they ever rely on him he's better than them his dad says so he's the best and he's perfect and
and he steps back. It's always alvar and biana. not alvar and fitz. not Fitz and biana. It's alvar and biana.
he's the favorite. he's perfect. he's everything his parents demand. but he's completely alone.
