"The action of the F gene is localized in the feather follicle and is not a consequence of a metabolic disorder [68]. However, the F gene may also have other pleiotropic effects that cause physiological abnormalities. This is why I won't be adding frizzles to my project. Most people think it's just frazzles that have issues but the frizzle gene itself isn't well known how it affects the whole chicken. I seen enough Frizzle house chickens get diagnosed with enlarged hearts and heart disease to not be adding that gene to my project.
I am selecting for healthy birds who I want to live as long as possible since a lot of them will be pets and I feel like the frizzle gene adds like a negative luck roll to their heart if that makes sense lol also I think it looks ugly I'm sorry 🫣😆

Frizzling
Frizzling is an incomplete dominant mutation.
On chickens with one copy of the gene, feathers curl back towards the head instead of lying flat.
(Buff Frizzle Cochin bantam that I absolutely love!)

Frizzles are flightless and less cold-hardy than other specimens. By creating controlled environments this shouldn't be a major issue.
Frizzle is accepted to be shown in any breed in the APA and ABA standards, it's just another variety. That doesn't mean the gene is present in every breed. I've never seen a frizzled d'Anver.
Frizzle shouldn't be bred to frizzle because homozygous frizzles known as frazzles have health issues including brittle feathers, baldness, and shorter lives.
Frizzled individuals should be bred only to smooth individuals.
