For black history month, I think we should begin popularizing monsters from the African continent the same way European monsters are overpopularized. To that end, here's a list of some of the most famous folkloric figures from Africa!
Mmoatia
Origin: Ghana (Akan)
Creature it is not: Dwarf
(Singular: Aboatia) Mmoatia are a subclass of abosom (spirits in between Man and Creator) that live in the forests of Ghana. They are short, have curved noses, backwards feet, and a unique language made up of only whistling sounds. Whistling in the forest is a sure way to get their attention. According to legend, they are phenomenal herbalists that will sometimes share their knowledge with humans. When a person gets lost in the woods, they are said to have been taken by Mmoatia. Humans who come back after being taken will become incredible medicine men. In Ghana, Dust Devils are called "Mmoatia Mframa" (Wind of Mmoatia) because they are belived to be a portal to their world similar to how fairyrings are treated in Ireland.
Mmoatia are divided into three tribes: Black, White, and Red. Black Mmoatia are supposedly harmless, while White and Red ones are always up to some kind of mischief.
Adze
Origin: Ghana (Ewe)
Creature it is not: Vampire
In Ewe culture, the Adze is a type of demonic spirit associated with witchcraft. They take the form of a fire fly that, during the night, crawls inside human beings in order to posses them. People possesd by the Adze are said to be witches, who use the spirit to slowly drain the life force of people that they envy (Old witches target the young, Poor witches target the wealthy, enslaved witches target their masters as they should).
When targeting a person, the Adze will leave it's host human during the night and crawl into the house of the victim. When it's close, it will drain blood from the victim like a mosquito.
Werehyena
Origin: Pan-African
Creature it is not: Werewolf
Just like how there are Werewolf stories all over Europe, there are Werehyena stories all over Africa. Compared to werewolves, which are said to be men cursed to be monsters, Werehyenas are actually monsters that disguise themselves as humans only to eat it's friends during the night. The people most likely to be werehyenas are village outsiders and blacksmiths, who are associated with magic.
In Angola, there is a similar (but not the same) creature to the werehyena called the Kishi. It is literally a two-faced demon that has a handsome man's body and face in the front, and a hyena's face in the back. This creature lures unsuspecting women into relationships so that it may eat them. If the Kishi has any male children with it's prey, it teaches them the art of femicide.
Mami Wata
Origin: Pan-African
Creature it is not: Mermaid (ok, it kinda is a mermaid but I need to keep the joke running)
Even more wide-spread than the Werehyena, Mami Wata is a figure so popular that it is common for water spirits in Africa to be retroactively labeld as Mami Wata and take on her iconography.
The most famous picture of Mami Wata is actually a french painting of a black Caribbean snake charmer, who west africans later identified as Her. Mami Wata is worshipped as a powerful, female river spirit that controls the flow of the river, the rate at which fish can be caught, the money that men can make, and several other things important to humanity. She is also said to be a seductress, who sleeps with unsuspecting men only to later kill them for cheating on their wives. Indeed, Mami Wata is a defender of women and a slayer of sinful and abusive men.
In many places, it is common to believe that women who drown or go missing in bodies of water were taken by Mami Wata to be taught magic. The women who return become pristessess to her, while the women who never come back become new Mami Watas.
Impundulu
Origin: South Africa (Zulu)
Creature it is not: Thunderbird (no hate, Thunderbird gets constantly thrown into things where it shouldn't be by people who don't understand it. And those people tend to be not native)
Impundulu, or Lightning Bird (NOT THUNDER BIRD), is a person sized Hamerkop bird that has the power to control the weather and summon lightning. It is also creature of evil magic, allied with witches and it has a never ending hunger for blood. It is said to sometimes take the form of a handsom young men in order to seduce women (why dose that keep happening).
Impundulu are immortal, and the ones that serve as witch familiars are passed down in the family as the old master dies and the child becomes grown. The bird is immune to gunshots, stabbing, drowning, and poison. It's only weakness is fire.

Somehow I think it's a funny that chapter wise the first time we see Naruto and Sasuke together, they kiss. But it's been how many ever years and Sakura is still waiting for a kiss from Sasuke.
Hehehehe. Yep. Kishi made it funny. At every step. Thoroughly. Wouldn't cut SS a corner.

And as long as Kishi is behind the scenes, you will never get to see SS kiss in canon anon. Take it in writing.

Rakshasa, Kishi
Tumblr media
“The Legend of the Kishi” © Sutthiwat Dechakamphu, accessed at his deviantArt gallery here
[The kishi is an Angolan monster, and is relatively famous outside of Africa. In the sense that it appears in monster books and has dedicated illustrations for it online. Its popularity makes sense; the metaphor for a predatory man being a genuine predator is a popular one in Western culture (see the Big Bad Wolf), and kishis being literally two faced is an engaging hook. Since it is described as being a spirit creature specifically, I wanted to make it some manner of outsider; rakshasa felt like a good fit.]
Rakshasa, Kishi CR 4 LE Outsider (native) This human man is preternaturally handsome, with a deep, piercing stare. A second head grows from the back of his skull—the snarling maw of a hyena.
A kishi is a lesser form of rakshasa. Lesser in the sense of their relative power and magical prowess, but not in the harm that they can inflict on communities. A kishi cannot shapeshift, and its animalistic features are a grotesque second face growing from the back of its head. This is usually the face of a hyena, but in lands where these animals are not found, it may manifest as another creature despised as being unclean, dishonorable and dangerous. This face is typically hidden under a wig, hat, turban or other garb, presenting instead a charming smiling face to the outside world.
Kishis are very good at being persuasive, all the better to entice others into doing evil deeds. They back up their good looks and charming words with magical persuasion, and can soften the will of a target simply by looking upon them. Those that refuse to be seduced or corrupted find themselves attacked, as the kishi turns its head 180 degrees and unleashes its bestial jaws. They would much rather strike quickly and fade back into the shadows that engage in prolonged battle. If they kill a victim, the corpse is usually left out in the open and partially eaten in order to spread terror.
Most kishi work alone, moving from town to town over time in order to ruin some lives and take others. Although they are not compelled to kill, they find it relaxing and fun, and prefer the flesh of sapient prey to those of other creatures. If multiple kishis do cooperate, it may be by posing as a gang of thieves, mercenaries or prostitutes. Each kishi in such packs often try to gain leverage over the others, in the hopes of reincarnating sooner into a more powerful rakshasa form.
A kishi is of human size, with their body sizes and shapes tending towards those that are seen as attractive by the majority of the society they manifest. Most, but not all, are male.

I’ve decided Cliet reminds me of a Kishi, a male demon in Angolan Mythology. Kishi’s appear as charming and romantic men, but hide a vicious hyena head behind their skull.
I changed it to a fox for him, though. Also he’s white and I’m not sure if Kishi’s can be white, so consider this more metaphorical.

Kishimoto writing male characters: Underdog story, coming of age hero, nuanced details around consistent power ups and battle styles which are directly connected to their traumatic past as a metaphor, conflicting allegiance to family or nation, chakra color scheme consistency
Kishimoto writing female characters: Boobs, marriage, chasing men, nag-nag, cooking, nursing, unrequited love, inconsistent chakra build up and my favorite : gets pregnant and fades out of relevance (and is literally used as a vessel to signify 'future' as if the present self as a stand alone means nothing).

I honestly don't know what else Kishimoto could have done to show that Sasuke doesn't like Sakura. He never reciprocated her romantic advances, never initiated any such behaviors, in Shippuden he ignored her constantly despite her numerous tries to garner his attention, and Sasuke flat out said that he has no reason to love her. He even tried to kill her because he does not care. SS shippers are so delusional, every time they post an analysis you can automatically discredit whatever they say, if only they'd be bother to think about what they write as they struggle to justify their pathetic ship with irrelevant examples or "evidence". It's embarrassing for them really when they display that level of reading comprehension and analysis skills... or complete lack thereof.
Ikr? Did you see that garbage bin meta that they wrote? No man, I love comedy content and I am big fan of stand up comedy, comedy sitcoms, movies, series and what have you. But that meta made water come out of my nose. Lol.
So this is part of Kishi's interview about Boruto movie.
Tumblr media
Lol it's so obvious from his other interviews as to what he thinks about Sakura's character. IMO, he goes to a great extent to discredit and vilify Sakura's character, in the manga narrative and in his interviews. Like c'mon, Sakura's seiyuu was just showing her excitement about Sakura's new role as a mother, but Kishi couldn't help making fun of her. Like it's not enough that he would insult her character by calling her 'addicted' to Sasuke in a bad way, or mock her, saying she is a hard woman and Sasuke deals with her by not being home etc, he would not even tolerate her VA being excited for her and would instantly make up some mysterious scenario where he is willing to put Sakura in further 'turmoil' and then on top of it, would also disclose that he said it as a response to the VA's excitement, to douse her excitement like this. Hahahahahah. He is such an ass. And no wonder that he wrote Gaiden right after he finished writing Boruto's script. Lol. Like he just didn't want people to be under any misapprehension that SS is genuine or even functional. I mean he had to sacrifice his favourite character to someone like Sakura, to someone he wrote with such negative shades, a writer who specialises in writing lovable characters wrote a character that was built for hating and then he had to give her, her reward. Sasuke. All for the sake of Boruto. But he won't stay away from showing exactly how SS works, or doesn't work. With Gaiden. Lol. Shit that Kishi says about her and Hinata, it's like he has no filter.
I heard some SS quit the ship after Gaiden was released. Well better late than never. Good for them. But of course, coming of age hasn't happened for a lot of other SS stans. I wouldn't put it past Kishi to do something else to put SS to shame. He is a petty dude and God bless him. Lol.

Otometober Day 9 - Favorite Mobile Game?
Honestly I have quiet a few downloaded however most of my time has been on my switch games of otome than mobile. If I'm bored or laying in bed or out somewhere I fall back to my mobile or on my tablet. I would say the last game though I played was through Love 365 app I have a few favorites but the last I played was Irresistible Mistakes but then got hooked so I went and bout it on switch and now I have the whole game.
Whats weird about me is my switch and steam games always come first over mobile games but I have also read alot of people get into games on their mobile and then when it goes down they lose all access to everything they ever did. When it comes to me and otome's the idea of losing my progress is unacceptable. So when I see games that were for Love 365 and I can get the full game I prefer to so that way I don't lose access to them one day or pay for each individual route.
Then there is the issue with games like Stand My Heroes, & Magic Ryun! Renaissance they aren't even in english so makes it hard to get into them when I have to translate everything. Then there is Mr. Love Queens Choice I love the anime but I feel like the game is so nothing like it. I am looking forward to being able to play Untold Atlas on steam because I just can't seem to get into it on mobile and it says its not able to be played on tablet.
I guess though with all that taken in to count if I have to choose a favorite that I have played on mobile would have to be a toss up between the following which by the way are all on switch which I own :D
Star-Crossed Myth - The Department of Wishes (There is one for punishment too which I own just have yet to play)
Steam
Nintendo
I have yet to finish all the routes on this yet so far only have finished God of Aquarius Huedhaut he stole my heart pretty fast too this is why its a toss up in games because this man makes me love the idea someone could love someone across lifetimes...
Tumblr media
Here is this sexy god in his glory
God of Aquarius Huedhaut
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kissed By The Baddest Bidder
Steam
Nintendo
First off I have yet to do all the routes but Mamoru Kishi "The Slacker Detective" is the one who pulled me and I just love his character. He acts like he can't be bothered to own you yet uses you as he needs to break a case. It doesn't take long before you can tell he likes having you around and falls in love with you. I guess its my classic case I gravitate towards the assholes with a bad attitude in games yet have a underlining love and passion about them that makes me feel like they would be a guy you could be safe with because his loyalty will never let anyone hurt you. Whenever I get a chance to finish it all I will do a proper game review of the routes though.
Tumblr media
So here is that guy that melts my butter in this series

at last, a wild art sighting!
here's a planned scene from the third issue of ghk, where we officially meet kishi, and a brief spat she has into with the dachshund she lived with named ichika
kishi was actually a bear hunting dog when she lived with her owner, and was pretty good at it, but she had a tendency to be reckless (hence her scars) while ichika stayed home as a spoiled pet for the hunter's wife who loved to get under kishi's skin whenever she would get in trouble for her impulsive behavior
the text says:
"i've been doing some sniffing, kishi, and it smells like you're in trouble again." "i've been sniffing too, ichika, and it smells like you're full of shit." i'll hopefully get back to work on ghk soon when i get some time ;u;
