This is a HC I’ve had for a while. It’s probably not a very original one…

The writing may be hard to read.

Basically, mages and magic users rely on magic energy that is stored in their body. When they run out of energy, they must use their own Soul as fuel. Magic from the Soul is more effective, but using it becomes very painful. This causes scars known as spellburns.

Like the name implies, spellburns…burn. They initially appear as small markings on the palms of the hand (or wherever magic is casted from) that look like spell circles. However, they can appear anywhere on the body. Severe spellburns can rupture and bleed, or they can even become permanent scars. Novice mages have very low amounts of energy and are bound to get spellburned at some point. In the mage community, spellburn scars are respected, as they symbolize the commitment of the individual to their craft.

Post-RTDL Magolor suffers from chronic pain. The Master Crown leeched off of his Soul for energy, and since his body was… kinda destroyed, the majority of his spellburns were internal. He also has frequent headaches.

Magolor has a ridiculous amount of magic energy. Spellburns aren’t even a concern, because he doesn’t get them. Instead, his old scars flare up. The pain can last, sometimes for days, and BOY does it hurt.

There isn't enough Metadedede or just general Kirby fanfics out there, so I've been intent on making my own for some time! Ideally I want it to be in the form of a webtoon, but since I don't have the resources at the moment, I'm going to start by posting the prologue on A03.

The fic in its entirety is going to cover all of the events in the Kirby games chronologically, following my own tweaks aka headcanons and the like. Spoiler alert: I'm very passionate about Metadedede and that will be the center of the first installment: my own headcanons of how Dreamland was founded, how Meta and Dedede became who they are, and just the right amount of backstory to set the stage for the story following Kirby's arrival to popstar!

Will be updating on the progress frequently! :)

I love Susie and I also love brainrotting over my hcs for her. So for once I will be sharing some of those hcs! Everything is under the cut for ease of access.

First of all, anyone who has followed me longer than 2 seconds will know how much I love my shark Haltmann hc. I don't care that I make him look completely different from canon or tumblr sexymanified, he's a literal loan shark in my heart and I love him. in my verse, Haltmann is a type of alien called 'sonar sharks' that originate from a Subnautica-esque planet covered in 95% water. This planet is Haltmann's home planet and is very technologically advanced despite society being primarily underwater. A lot of sonar sharks live on this planet and are one of the major species there.

Sonar sharks are naturally extremely bulky (I mean look at that guy) and very physically powerful. They are extremely voracious as they have to eat a LOT to keep up their weight and overall health. Not eating enough can make their health and mental state deteriorate rapidly.

Where does Susie come into the picture here? She's Haltmann's daughter but looks almost nothing like him. While I hc her mother was a different species than Haltmann (the same species as the mage sisters, in fact) Susie seemingly possesses none of the natural heftiness that Haltmann has whatsoever.

My hc is that she SHOULD have at least some of the chub Haltmann has - she just never got the chance to develop it properly. Every Kirby fan and their mothers know how her backstory goes, she was whisked away into Another Dimension as a child. In my verse, she was 12 when that happened, at an age where she was only a few years away from putting on more natural weight like her father.

In Another Dimension, she was teleported to a remote location away from any nearby society that could have offered her food - dropped off in the middle of the wilderness essentially. And here she had to fight to survive near constantly - which included fighting for food. It was hard to come by, so she didn't always have a lot of it, and ended up having to ration it the best she could.

Even when she made it back to society in this dimension, most of her time was occupied by working with anyone she could there to find a way home, back to her father.

And we all know how that must've turned out when she finally got home...

So. Working at the HWC, with a PLETHORA of food available, she still rationed her eating out of habit from all her years stuck in the wilderness of a foreign dimension. To add to this, she constantly lived under the stress of the expectations of the dictatorship-like company, as well as anxiety about the plan she was putting into place (her plan to steal Star Dream).

As a result from barely eating during teenhood, a critical time for growing, as well as living under so much stress and repression that she barely ate, Susie has been eating irregularly for over 10 years in my verse. As such, she's very thin for being part sonar shark, as well as rather runty compared to her father.

Luckily, post-Planet Robobot, after working and working to make amends with Dreamland, Susie is able to start healing emotionally in my AU, as well as physically. She starts learning to eat more (with help from Kirby ofc) and slowly but surely, starts putting on her natural weight. This improves her health considerably - she would often get sick a lot, but on the HWC they had systems to combat sickness she would use. Nowadays she doesn't need to worry about that as she doesn't become ill nearly as much. She's considerably less snappy, and her mental attitude about various things has improved for the first time since childhood.

Does she still have trauma and struggle with a lot of shit? YES very much so. but in my verse, she is happier, healthier and healing, which is very important to me for a character like her.

In an earlier post you said that Meta Knight was changed by Nightmare, did Meta Knight ever work for or was forced to work for Nightmare? Especially before joining the GSA? If so, when he joined was it super awkward or did no one recognize him?

Ok, so:

In my hc, every starling (basically Kirby's species) commences its life after the explosion of a supernova, adrift in the sea of stars, sleeping indefinitely in a spaceship until it lands somewhere; and when that moment arrives, its cockpit will open, giving the starling full accessibility to whichever planet it landed on to adapt to it and begin its true life. (basically half canon, since that's how Kirby was found in the first ep.)

Unfortunately, Meta wasn't so lucky, as he landed on Shiver Star, where Nightmare's base was. Immediately, Nightmare sent his minions to retrieve the poor child: they got to him, put him in a basket and brought him to their boss.

With something as powerful as a starling in his hands, Nightmare wanted to experiment and find the source of its power. Of course, he was aware of how dangerous it was to even consider surgery, since baby astrals are internally very delicate (reason why Meta is constantly worried about Kirby getting hurt), so he basically used him as his own lab rat, a mere toy for him to play with, a pawn. He tested magic on him, the strength of demon beasts on him, he used him against other, stronger foes due to his natural skill, forcing him to work tirelessly, and so on, and so on...

Meta knew nothing about a peaceful life, being reduced to a stress toy, abused, thrown around, tested on just for the sake of it. That was until Sir Galacta Knight and Sir Uther had been planning an assault in Nightmare's headquarters: upon defeating numerous demon beasts, they found him, Meta, curled up under rubble, wounded and alone.

"Uther, look!"

"A... starling?"

"Yes! He looks in rough shape, though. Do you think he's going to make it?"

"I think he is. Although, surely, you may not be planning to take him with us, right?"

"..."

"Right?"

"--CAN WE PLEASE KEEP HI-"

"GALACTA, YOU MAY NOT."

"Why?! What's wrong with him?"

"Are you really forgetting we're in Nightmare's base right now? Everything and anything here could be a serious threat to us both!"

"We can't leave him here!.. -- Wait, are those..?"

"Wings."

"But he isn't one of the heroes of Yore, nor does he have any correlation to them whatsoever!"

"Nightmare most likely tampered with him. That's even more dangerous."

"COME ON, UTHER! You're seriously going to leave a child to die here?!"

"..."

"I suppose we can take him..."

"Great, now let's get moving!"

Taking him in, they both tried to stabilize his condition, Galacta more than Uther, though. It was at that moment that he started treating Meta like a true son, without fearing Nightmare's influence on him.

It had been years, and Meta was finally introduced to the G.S.A. (Although Jecra and Garlude weren't in the group yet). Immediately, he saw what it was like to be in a true family: no abuse, no weird looks.

Of course, the others already knew about his whole story with Nightmare, and I must admit they all were a bit more... careful around him. But, eventually, they realized he completely despised his abuser (rightfully so,) and he would've done anything to rid of him.

At the arrival of Jecra and Garlude, Meta immediately felt strong admiration towards them, and that didn't go unnoticed. They weren't even disgusted by the fact that Meta had been Nightmare's doll, they just thought he was really strong in enduring what he had been through. Jecra was the first to suggest they all made a group and the two of them (Meta and Garlude) followed.
