Hi Caro! I found your blog because I was looking for kpop seasonal color analysis and I absolutely love your post! It's so helpful and it makes so much sense. I was wondering, have you done Mark Lee's analysis? I keep wondering what his color is. I thought he'd be more cool tone since he suits blue hair so much, but recently I saw a picture of him next to Jaemin and noticed just how much warmer he is in comparison. Your thoughts? <3
mark lee's personal color is: true summer! aka a cool palette with some winter-adjacent contast. but still berry/rose/beige/charcoal colors. basically hot sauce era.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
that kind of person resembles a nice summer evening at the shore — summer = light, soft, cool. zero red, orange, yellow, pure hues, and only few super dark colors. it's very gentle, but exciting.
Tumblr media
that's why silver jewelry suits him so well. as do whites, pinks, greys, purples, and blues. think emily blunt. although nct's concept is bright winter, summer is a much breezier, softened seasonal color.
Tumblr media
it can be made edgy, though. long as the colors aren't screaming and are still muted enough.
Tumblr media
he'll appear warmer when wearing spring or autumn, that palette clashes with his immense cool undertone which e.g. makes gold stick out like a sore thumb when the rest of the outfit is blue-based.
Tumblr media
cool/true summer's mortal enemy is orange because it is so warm. the more yellow-based the color, the more it kills mark's vibe.
Tumblr media
whereas those nice emerald-like greens are just awesome.

Your watercolor paintings are amazing!
I'm sorry if this question was there before, but what watercolor do you use, if it's not a secret?
Hello there, and thank you so much for your kind words!
I'm more than happy to share what paints I use!
At the moment, I'm using a lot of a sumi-e watercolour set from Choosing Keeping for my Hollow Knight Art Month pieces, though I don't see the exact palette I got from their London shop here on the website - the others look really cool too. It gives wonderful subdued tones and is really lovely to work with, layers super well once dried but can also be manipulated a nicely when it's still wet. I'm a big fan of their other gansai palette sets as well - I've used their 1930s set and the 1980s set, though I haven't done much yet with either, but I'm really excited to. Be warned: this shop is dangerous, all their art supplies are GORGEOUS, and the bigger/fancier sets are wayyyyy out of my budget!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also use a lot of Derwent's watercolour paint pan sets. I like to use the Graphitint set, which is watercolour blended with graphite, which gives lovely muted tones that I love for autumn scenes and soft illustrations. I also use Inktense set #1, which has a nice clarity and vibrancy, and is also permanent when dry, so it layers really well without lifting, if that's your bag. The pastel set is also really fun, have a little more opacity (like a gouache-adjacent watercolour) and has a really spring-summer vibe for landscapes or whatever. HOWEVER. You'll pretty much always find somewhere where they're on sale as well - I've never paid full price for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly, I looooooooove working with acrylic inks. Most of mine are Daler Rowney FW inks, and they're very fun for projects where you want to work in monochrome.
Tumblr media
There are a few other things I've played with, but these are the things I'm using the most lately. Hope this helps, and happy painting!

30. Picking out each other's outfits, what are they each wearing?
Definitely want to know your answer for wonderbeast buuuuut if you're willing to answer this for ScarletVision as well... 👀
Simon choosing for Hank -- Hank has a pretty muted colour palette in fashion, aside from the one time he wore the pineapple shirt and like. ties. so I think Simon would take the opportunity to give him something bright, like pastels or neons . Very possibly he'd put a few offensive patterns on him, too, because as his worst outfits prove Simon is susceptible to a distasteful pattern. Simon's very aware of trends and doesn't have an awful lot of self respect so I don't think he'd care if Hank looked slightly ridiculous, which is why I'm going with this 2022 Phillip Phein look. Don't know what show this is but it's in the source I think ✌️
Tumblr media
IMG SOURCE
Hank choosing for Simon -- now, Hank did create that one horrible costume for Simon, so technically he's already picked clothes for him and it was. bad. so similarly, I think he'd choose something with really bad patterns, except without the millennial charm or whatever that Simon's aware of. Bless him but fashion isn't this man's strong point. Also, I think he would purposefully dress Simon up abysmally to annoy him. I went with this from Thom Browne's 2012 autumn collection, which is certainly a collection. I'm ignoring what's above the shoulders it worries me.

Vision choosing for Wanda -- I think it depends on the occasion but I think Vision would choose a stylish but ultimately practical suit for Wanda, as they would be thinking about ease of movement & such. I went with this look which I believe is from Dolce & Gabbana Milan 2006, I think the coat has the kind of dramatic silhouette Vision & Wanda both like with the capes :)
Tumblr media
IMG SOURCE
Now, choosing something for Vision was difficult because it's hard to discern what I think Wanda would dress Vision in and what I want Vision to be dressed in, but we've seen Wanda buy stuff for Vision before & it was brightly coloured , so I reached a compromise between the two & went with these '21 Versace look. Tbh either one would work but I lean towards the right. It's cute, got the colours & I imagine the pastels would contrast nice with Vision & Wanda has been shown to be fashion aware :)

Makeup for Magick/Ritual p7: Samhain
LETS PRETEND THESE LAST TWO AREN'T HORRENDOUSLY PATHETICALLY LATE, OKAY??? OKAY!!!
Tumblr media
Obviously these are the original pictures from last year, so I’ll mention any new releases that have popped up since then that I think fit (that I have). So, let’s get into it!
According to my personal notes, colors associated with Samhain are:
Black
Orange
Red
Brown
Gold
Silver
Bronze
Yellow
Indigo
White
Golden
Yellow
Purple
And I, personally, have included some greens in the palette. Both for usual spooky season reasons (which I still celebrate because I love it, and it’s a way to honor my papa since he was super festive at every holiday) and because we’ve got green pumpkins and gourds, as well as some green leaves that are holding in for dear life in the trees. So it should be included.
First up: Juvia’s Place
Tumblr media
The Violets: The veil between the world of the living and the dead is at it’s thinnest at Samhain, so it’s the perfect time for all kinds of divination and spirit communication. Psychic abilities seem to be stronger around this time of year and people tend to have more paranormal experiences, as well. Colors like purple, indigo and silver are often associated with intuition and psychic ability, so this is a good palette to reach for if you want to lean in to the uptick of psychic energy.
The Tribe: Oranges and greens, pumpkins and changing leaves. If you want your look to reflect what nature is doing, this palette has a great color story for it.
The Festival: Early on in the creation of this makeup series, I decided this palette was going to be in the Samhain post, primarily because of the red and metallic black. But it’s also has your oranges and golds.
Afrique: I put this palette on the list for the deeper reds, green, purple and gold.
The Saharan: This palette’s on the list for the black and the oranges, basically.
Next, Give Me Glow and Shroud Cosmetics…
Tumblr media
GMG Juicy Olive Palette: A palette for more murky olive greens.
GMG Grunge Palette: This is for the darker purple, brown and black mattes. The original reason I wanted this palette so bad was for all the nice deepening shades.
SC Spooky Cute Palette: Other than the black, the pastel shades are good for blending out the edges of more colorful looks. That’s it. That’s why it’s on the list.
SC Arcana Palette: Arcane’s dark jewel and muted color tones work really well for the sabbat in general. Some of the colors are more muted in person than they are in the picture, but in a good way. Maybe “murkier” is a better word for it? I dunno… Granted, this one is based more on the “sitting at an altar/grave, communing with the dead, burning candles and incense” vibes it gives off when I look at it. So… Plus they spell “Altar” right, which a bunch of witches online tend to fuck up regularly, so props for that.
SC x Beautbean It’s Freakin’ Bats Palette: This one’s really cute for Halloween, what with the theming and references, and the Sam shade is so unique in my collection. For Samhain, however, the focus is on the purples for a intuition and psychic ability boost.
Next is Urban Decay and Kristen Leigh Cosmetics. Because of the whole supporting Putin situation, I’ll be skipping over ABH for the foreseeable future. Instead we’ll talk about a palette from Unearthly Cosmetics (formerly Alien Cosmetics) that I bought this past year that I think fits.
Tumblr media
UD Born to Run Palette: Like at Mabon, the fall vibes of this palette live on. The black, dark grey and murky purple, orange, brown and bronze shades lends itself to this darker tone of year.
KLC Autumn Vibes Palette: Undeniably a companion palette since it’s four metallic/ duochrome shades. If you’re going for a late-fall nature focus, any of these will would work.
UC Poison Apple Palette (new, not pictured): At Samhain, apples are used for divination and as offerings to our beloved dead. This palette, from the mattes to the duochromes, embody this sacred fruit perfectly. It also works great for Mabon.
Haven’t said this in a while. Time for our lord and savior, Colourpop!
Tumblr media
Blowing’ Smoke: The color black is associated with death, the dark and cold night (growing longer until Yule) and protection; grey is associated with divination, intuition, spirit and ancestor communication, death and the underworld; and silver is associated with protection and intuition/psychic ability. So, a good color story to work with at Samhain. If you’re new to makeup, go in slowly with black eyeshadow. That ish can go from 0 to 60 in a blink.
Orange You Glad?: Specifically for the two darker mattes. And say it with me! Fuck pressed glitter! Uhg, that could have been such a beautiful duochrome!
Main Squeeze: Again, this one is specifically for the darker blood red shades on the bottom row.
It’s My Pleasure: A decent purple palette with a few different purple tones in the shimmers to work with.
Yes, Please!: While not super deep, the OG Colourpop palette is the “work appropriate” red-orange-yellow Samhain palette.
Whatever: Again, fuck pressed glitter. But the reds and browns are nice and deep, and with the orangey-bronze shade “Not OK”, it mimics the majority of leaves on the trees this late in autumn. Just more glam.
On to BH Cosmetics. I haven’t really bought anything from them since they were bought out by Makeup Revolution. So I don’t know if the formula’s changed at all. I do know that a good chunk of their palettes got discontinued, though.
Tumblr media
Poison Shock Scorpion Sting: I’d bring in the dark orange matte from Orange You Glad?, since the three mattes don’t go as deep. Metallic wise, you have a lot of options for whatever leaf or pumpkin you’re trying to replicate.
Poison Shock Nightshade: Again, the mattes don’t go as deep as I’d like, but it still works nicely.
Poison Shock Venom: The Venom shades can be used similarly to Blowin’ Smoke from CP. it just has one or two more purpley shades to work with
Zodiac: All of the mattes besides the Leo and Virgo mattes are great purple/black/browns to use. The baked metallics that would work for Samhain are Cancer, Gemini, Pisces, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Libra.
Love in London: I chose this specifically for the matte black, a couple of the matte browns, and the purple, dark grey and gold metallics. Definitely another office appropriate palette choices.
Passion in Paris: Strictly for the reds, purples and greys. Though this is more “wintery”.
Bringing up the rear, we have the single shadows! Starting with Kristen Leigh Cosmetics, Terra Moons, and Shroud.
Tumblr media
KLC Halloween Havoc Collection:
Haunted: an orange to gold iridescent duochrome highlighter with gold to green to silver blue color shifts.
Jack-O-Lantern: a pumpkin orange multidimensional eyeshadow with gold to green to silver blue color shifts.
Potion: a light leafy green duochrome eyeshadow with lots of iridescent green duochrome sparkles.
Sorcery: a cool toned dark brown to purple duochrome, multidimensional eyeshadow with purple to pink to blue to gold and slight orange shifts depending on the lighting and angles.
Terra Moons:
Hurricane: a warm-toned medium-dark orange metallic.
Spiked: a warm, dark red.
Bonfire: a duochrome orange-red shimmer.
Martian: a duochrome green, gold and reddish shimmer.
Shroud:
World Eater: an intense true red metallic shimmer.
Ignite: a fiery copper metallic.
Vigil: a golden yellow metallic.
Enigma: a mid tone purple with an icy blue shift.
Pillow Talk: a deep purple with an intense gold shimmering reflect.
Scrumptious: a coral red shimmer with an intense gold shimmering reflect.
Artifact: a grungy olive green metallic with a slight golden shift.
Nightsong: a deep metallic blue with a black base.
Next, Looxi Beauty.
Tumblr media
Jelly: a blue purple duochrome.
Gator: a missy green with shifts of brown and pale yellow.
Adorbs!: a reddish bronze with shifts of gold and green.
Honey Pot: a golden orange with shifts of copper, yellow and purple.
Hocus Pocus: a purple shade with shifts of olive green.
Poppy: a deep, dark metallic burgundy.
Follow Me: a vibrant orange gold shimmer.
Tricked: a vibrant golden yellow shimmer.
Poor Unfortunate Souls: a purple shimmer.
Forbidden Fruit: a bold metallic red shimmer.
Emerald: a burgundy with shifts of green, gold and copper.
The Monarch: a bronzed brown with shifts of rose and gold.
Juice: a deep wine red with shifts of brown, gold, and green.
Omega: a green metallic with shifts of teal, purple and dark blue.
Firefly: a red with with a copper/orange/gold shift.
Lady Luck: a bronze gold with shifts of green, red and brownish purple.
Starry Night: a mid-toned blue with a violet undertone.
Lagoon: a metallic, golden olive shimmer.
Spyro: a grape metallic
Coppa’ Feel: a bold, metallic copper with a hint of pink.
That’s What She Said: a golden metallic with slight hints of green.
Bonfire Babe: a vibrant fiery orange with shifts of yellow gold and pink.
Next to You: a deep purple with an electric blue shift.
For the Graham: a cinnamon brown with shifts of red, gold, and orange
And finally, Give Me Glow!
Tumblr media
Leggings: matte ultra black
Blackened Plum: deep smoky purple matte
Chili: deep rustic red-orange matte
TBT: deep burnt rustic orange matte
Toxic: vibrant deep true purple matte
Storm: a cool toned purple taupe metallic
Selfie: a warm toned medium-dark copper metallic
You’re Cheesy: a warm toned, light-medium orange metallic
Ultraviolence: a deep purple based violet metallic
Satellite: aluminum foil silver metallic
Halo: white with baby blue and gold shifts
Marshmallow: pure white matte
And with that, we’ve finished Samhain. Not much else to say except, if you have any ideas you’d like to add, please do!
Now on to the final sabbat: Yule!

The River, the Sea, and the Stars Part 3 (SFW version)
***
Andros danced with him in a wooded glade, willow weeds flowing like curtains around them. It was a wild dance, with no real steps, but they laughed and whirled around each other, hands clasped, until Andros pulled him close and kissed him. They fell to their knees on the mossy ground, then tumbled to lie under the moon in each other's arms.
*
Andros fought the choppy waves alongside him; they both needed every ounce of strength to make headway in the icy water. They reached the black rocks at the edge of the shore and hauled each other up to shiver in the early morning air. Andros tucked a lock of hair behind Therien's ear and leaned in to kiss him, salty like the sea.
*
Andros held him, golden skin reflecting the red of the fire beside them. Therien held him back, his arms wrapped around Andros's waist.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you," said Andros.
"I'm going to find you," he said.
Andros laughed, and said, "I'm waiting."
*
Therien woke.
The little room was cold and still, muffled from the outside world. If he closed his eyes, Therien thought he truly could be back in Provence. He'd felt removed from the world there, too. In those days, there hadn't been an Andros, nor a Dra, nor an American scholarship. All he'd had were a doting set of adoptive parents and a joy of swimming.
Grey morning light filtered through the thin paper blind and turned everything into a muted palette of cool greys and washed-out reds and blues. It felt like the air before a snowstorm, though it was far too early in the season for that.
Dra hadn't been joking. The dreams had been vivid and so real; he had to shake his head to dispel them. He'd never danced with Andros or made love to him like that, but they felt less like fantasies and more like memories.
If only.
He swung his legs off the bed and stretched. A hunt through his suitcase found him a clean change of clothes, though he figured he'd need to do laundry soon. Jeans and a t-shirt, with a hoodie from an international competition made it onto his body before he felt alive enough to emerge from his room.
"I'm awake," he called into the apartment. "Bonjour, Dra."
"Bonjour," came her reply from behind the rightmost door in the hall. "Go freshen up and I'll meet you in the living room shortly."
"Merci." He found the bathroom behind the middle door, or what he supposed was the bathroom. It was hard to tell under the forest of houseplants that grew in pots from every corner. Even the freestanding iron tub was surrounded not by a shower curtain, but a literal curtain of broad-leafed vines.
Therien caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. He looked like hell, though better than he had the day before. He'd need a shave, but that could wait, as his kit was buried somewhere in his bag in the other room. He did manage to tame his unruly black curls into some semblance of fashionable and skimmed his hands over the short fade at the back and sides.
He scrubbed at his face with the washcloth. He hadn't properly washed since before the banquet, when he'd put on a hint of gold eyeliner to accentuate his eyes. Whatever brand it was, it lived up to its claims of staying power. He enjoyed the contrast against his dark olive skin and he'd wanted to feel as attractive as possible for whatever would happen with Andros.
That thought drove him to wash it off, as if that could wash away the fear and worry that still roiled in his gut. But once it was gone, he only felt more vulnerable, so he made a decision.
He dug through his suitcase to find the small toiletries bag and the eyeliner pen, then marched back to the bathroom to carefully apply the shimmering gold ink to his eyes again as if it was some kind of armor. When he finished, he stepped back.
Now he was ready.
***
Dra gave him an appraising look when she finally emerged from her own room. "Nice job on the eyes," was all she said, before she dumped an armload of things into the center of the living room floor. "Grab us each a cuppa, would you, love? Should be done steeping by now."
"What is all this for?" he asked, nudging a small hand axe with his foot as he went to the kitchen. "I thought we were going to find Andros. Are we camping?"
"In a way, yes. I hope you remember your time as an Éclaireur. You'll need it."
"I never told you about that, did I?" He handed her a teacup and sat on the ottoman to watch her sort through the pile.
"Oh, you most certainly did! 'Éclaireurs--Toujours Prêt!'" She laughed. "It was some college mixer where we had to tell things about ourselves. You were adorable, with your accent and your big eyes taking everything in."
"How you recall my scout motto after all this time is beyond me."
She shrugged a shoulder. "It was one of those phrases that stick in your mind. Once I learned it, it became a kind of chant. I liked how it sounded." She held up an old leather knapsack, the kind that would fetch hundreds of dollars at auction for its patina and excellent construction. Knowing Dra, she'd found it in some bargain bin at a thrift shop. "Here, you can have this one. We need to pack fairly light, but I don't want to be without a few comforts. You carry the firestarters, that little bag there."
Within an hour, the entire pile had been dispersed and neatly packed away between them. Therien had been given a belt--well, two belts, as one of Dra's was too small even for his narrow hips--and from it hung an array of bags and pouches of medical supplies, the hand axe, a multitool, and a wickedly sharp hunting knife that made Therien nervous. The satchel held the firestarters, a change of socks and underwear, and Therien's toiletries bag. Dra insisted that leaving a little space would be handy later, so he didn't argue.
Dra carried a similar set of tools, though she also added a variety of oilcloth bags of teas and herbs. Several vials of oils from the shop clinked in one of the square pouches on her own belt, and a coiled rope was fastened to her waist. Therien thought they rather looked like they were heading to a medieval faire rather than going to rescue his erstwhile boyfriend, and he told her so as they descended the stairs from her apartment into the empty shop below.
"That, my love, is because you don't know where we're going." They stood in the center of the shop, in a clear spot on the creaky wood floor. "I'm going to show you first, and then I can answer any of your questions. All right? Good. Now, stand back behind me. I need to concentrate."
Dra closed her eyes with a centering breath. She drew a large circle in the air and muttered something too softly for Therien to hear, then thrust both of her hands before her, crossing her arms straight out, fingers spread wide as she braced her legs as if against a strong wind. Her words came louder, more urgently, until she opened her eyes and flung her arms open.
With that motion, the air rippled and a faint sizzle of blue light scribed a circle before them.
Its edge rested on the floor like a tall oval mirror, but through it, instead of the opposite wall of the shop, Therien could see a wooded place, carpeted in yellow leaves. The scent of autumn came through and a breeze ruffled their hair. Therien felt weak in the knees. This shouldn't be real. It couldn't be real.
But then he remembered those golden chains stealing Andros away, and he decided that this was no less impossible.
"Step through," said Dra, her voice tight. "I can't hold this up for too long. I'm right behind you."
He wanted to hang back, but he made his feet start moving. Passing through the portal gave him a sense of vertigo, but once both feet were on the other side, it passed. He looked over his shoulder to see Dra stepping through after him. The image of the shop wavered as soon as she fully came through, then closed like an aperture and vanished.
Dra glanced around. "Not as close as I wanted to be, but it will do. This way." She strode in a seemingly random direction, though she moved with purpose. Even with his much longer legs, Therien had to hurry to catch up with her.
"Where...is this place?" he asked, looking around. "How did you do that? What was that??"
She laughed but kept walking. "That was a portal. It cuts down on travel time like you wouldn't believe." She paused, adjusted her direction, and continued along whatever path she perceived. "And we're in upstate New York."
He stopped in his tracks. "Wait--what?"
"You can't get to the Feywild directly," she called over her shoulder. "But there are places where you can pass through the veil, and this is the one I know best. Keep up, sweetheart!"
"The Fey...what?" None of it made sense, but he tried gamely to follow his friend. At least she seemed to know what she was doing.
The area they hiked through was hilly and cold, colder than Northampton had been. After an hour of endless trees and falling leaves, Dra called for a short break. They sat on a large, flat rock at the top of the hill they'd just climbed, and Dra handed him one of her homemade granola bars. "We're almost there. I should tell you about a few things before we cross over."
"That sounds ominous." As if Therien hadn't seen and experienced actual magic just that morning. But he was trying, so hard, to accept everything as it came.
Dra took pity on him. "I know this is hard to grasp, and we don't have a lot of time to go over everything. But I'm going to prepare you as much as I can." She shifted to face him. "Andros and I...we're Fey. We live human lives, but we weren't born here. We came from the Feywild, and that's where we need to go now."
"Both of you?"
"Yeah, what are the odds, right? Northampton is a hub for all sorts of weird and mystical things. That's why I settled there, and that's why Andros was drawn there to UMASS for the swim team. I mean, there are schools with better programs, but no others that promised him the shelter he needed."
Therien frowned. "You were both my best friends," he said. "How did I not know?"
"He and I figured it out not long after we met, and we promised to watch out for each other." She looked down at her hands, turning them over and flexing her fingers.  "We both cared for you, you know. He begged me not to tell you because it's never good for a mortal to get tangled up in Fey politics."
"And yet--"
She shrugged ruefully. "And yet, here we are. Now, I come and go as I please, though not often these days. Andros, though...he was always running from something. That's why he took the name he did. Andros Kaitos. It's Greek, for 'man who runs away'."
"That wasn't even his real name." Therien took a shaky breath. "How much else didn't I know about him?"
"Not much," she reassured him. "Everyone has secrets, even you. But he was usually an open book with you, bar the obvious. And," she put a hand on his arm, "he loved you. Loves, I mean. I wouldn't be doing this at all if I didn't think it was worth the risk to both of you."
He covered her hand with his. "I know. Go on. I want to be ready for whatever happens."
She leaned back on her elbows and looked up at the trees. Therien couldn't hear any traffic sounds, just the wind in the canopy above and the calls of songbirds, the rustle of dry leaves on the ground.
"Andros had an assigned place in the Feywild. He was created to be a river guardian. You see them in Greek myth a lot, and I suspect that's where his story began. River guardians come in many forms, depending on their origins, and some don't conform to any particular country's lore. In general, though, they manage a certain river or stream, and they're meant to be tied to that place at all times. Andros, though--he just couldn't sit still. And the Court to which he belonged was not known for kindness. He loved being in your world."
"So he ran away," Therien said, a question. Dra nodded.
"He escaped," she clarified. "Honestly, I'm surprised he avoided capture as long as he did. He never set down roots anywhere because he was terrified he'd be found."
Therien toyed with a leaf that blew across his foot. "It's my fault, then."
"No, no," Dra insisted, "Darling, it's not--"
"It is," he cut her off. "He said it himself that night. He'd let his guard down. That's because I caught him by surprise."
Dra studied him for a moment. "That might be," she said at length, "but it's still not on you. It was bound to happen one day. At least he's not alone, you know? Imagine if he'd been found before you could tell each other about your feelings. Imagine if he'd just disappeared without anyone around!" She glanced away. "If he'd just vanished, you might not have thought to call me. You wouldn't have learned about any of this."
He tried to imagine it, as she said. What if he hadn't been there? What if Andros had just not shown up for practice, or if they'd never spoken of their feelings? He probably wouldn't have been frantic enough to reach out to her in a moment of need. "You're right," he said aloud.
"Of course I am." She pushed herself off the rock and brushed her legs down. "Okay. Once we reach the top of the mountain, I'll need you to step only in my footsteps. That's how things work."
"Oui, mon amie."
She kept up her lecture as they resumed their walk up the hill. "The Feywild is a beautiful place, but it's called wild for a reason. Things can be as deadly as they are pleasing to the eye, and trickery abounds. There are strict rules in place that may not be broken, and that has caused the Fey folk to learn and exploit every loophole imaginable."
The hill steepened, and Dra slipped a little on the leaves. Therien helped her stand, and stayed by her in case it happened again. Even at his current peak fitness level, Therien found himself breathing hard over those last few yards to the top of the hill.
Or ravine, he realized, looking back at the way they had come. The disturbed leaves showed their passing, the path stretching down and out of sight between the trees.
But when he turned around, the scene ahead made him gasp. Aside from the slight marring of the countryside by a row of power lines and a distant cell phone tower, he could see for miles of rolling hills that turned into mountains at the horizon. The valley floor was carpeted with trees in hues of orange, yellow, brown, and occasionally red. A pair of eagles sailed above in great circles, and a flock of crows took flight and resettled not far off.
If the entrance to the fey realm was anywhere, surely this seemed as good a place as any.
Dra tugged at his arm. "This way. Remember, step in my footsteps exactly. Even if it seems silly or redundant. Got it?"
"Got it." His heart pounded. He trusted Dra. He trusted her. He had to.
She checked behind her with each step to be sure he was following her instructions. They walked toward an apparently random tree, but then circled around it to the right--counterclockwise--until they crossed their original path. Dra wove them between a series of saplings and hopped over a pointed stone that stuck out of the ground. The next tree they approached, they went around clockwise and continued toward a natural arch formed of a fallen tree caught in the crook of another.
"Through that," said Dra, startling him, "and we'll be in the Feywild." She glanced up at him and held out her hand. "Ready?"
"I trust you."
The corner of her mouth quirked up. "I'll take that as a yes. Let's go save your boyfriend."
They walked through.

When taking Lutrudis as a concept into account, it could be argued that the decision to have her live in a big, fairytale-like castle would be an unwise idea, maybe even counterintuitive, since a place so extravagant might undermine her intended loneliness and yearning for a more fulfilling life, adventure, and all that jazz before Sonic and company entered the picture. The last thing I’d want with Trudy would be to remind people of Chris “woe is me” Thorndyke and his rich kid mansion lifestyle. Not to mention that since some of the townspeople in Lime Shores can act rather ignorant (and in some cases, antagonistic) towards her, a lavish castle might also undermine the underdog nature of that particular setup.
Despite these concerns however, I felt confident with my plan, and I figured that as long as I knew what I was doing, readers would understand what I had in mind. I’ve explained in the past that a castle would better accommodate someone with her EDS, so right off the bat, you already have a practical justification for it. It also helps that whereas the accursed Thorndyke had his parents, friends, grandad, butler, etc etc etc etc... Trudy genuinely had no one to turn to before the heroes arrived for their intended vacation. So with that said, let’s examine this particular building for a bit, complete with pics for comparison’s sake, as well as a certain cavern full of Ethereal goodness that happens to be nearby...
Creating the Residence: Trudy’s Castle
Let’s get the obvious out of the way: The outside environment is not too subtly inspired by Autumn Plains from Spyro 2, better known to non-Spyro fans as my blog background.
Tumblr media
A serene yet lonely autumnal forest backdrop, with a big stone castle smack dab in the center. It’s not one-to-one the same of course - instead of a pool, the front area boasts a lovely garden full of different flowers, and there’s also a lake nearby - but the mood is more or less what you see here.
However, this partly serves to contrast with what’s behind closed doors. As acknowledged in Beyond the Stars proper, the interior of the castle instead goes for a different and grander, yet equally inviting atmosphere when you take that first step inside. Instead of stone, you see marble and wood, and instead of grey and green, you have reds, creams, maroons, and golds (with a few complimentary blues and purples thanks to the flags hovering above).
As the lady herself mentions, Trudy discovered that the interior was in a state of disarray when she obtained it, and she was of the belief that a castle as beautiful and rich in history as this one deserved better than to be forgotten and wither away in the coming generations. The least she felt she could do was give it a modern, yet respectful redecoration, and give the old building a second, loving life in the process.
Yes, that means every spot of detail inside this castle was done single-handedly. Entirely on her lonesome. It took ages to complete, especially when taking her EDS into account, but she was determined to give the place its due, and lo and behold, the effort more than paid off. (You know, such levels of determination bring a blue hedgehog to mind...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s just the intended vision for the main hallway! We haven’t touched the other rooms yet! (Since a castle would have quite a lot of rooms, it goes without saying that for the sake of keeping this post from going even longer, we won’t be covering literally every single room... just the most important and/or most noteworthy ones. :o)
The bathroom can be described as a mix between the two examples below, combining the semi-medieval build of the former with the sky blue palette and general relaxing style of the latter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though that said, while the bath remains there for any guests to use, Trudy personally uses a shower since it’s more convenient for someone with her condition.
The kitchen (or as Sonic likes to call it, “the palace of chili dog magic”) mostly comes in cool browns and blacks, and its intended appearance is probably one of the more obvious combinations of old-timey and modern. It also has a slightly country aesthetic compared to the other rooms, because ha ha, horses, geddit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The greenhouse at the back brings back the heavy amounts of green (well duh, the clue’s in the name, isn’t it?), while also providing contrast with the whiteness of the structure and architecture. Complete with giant arched windows, because of course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the segue point between the greenhouse and the rest of the castle looks something along these lines, at least with the way the building itself connects.
Tumblr media
Even the chambers underneath the castle manage to look classy and clean. And just as well, since it’s where Tails parks the Tornado for the remainder of his time in Viridonia, once he FINALLY remembers to get it off the Lime Shore beach...
Tumblr media
You know another benefit of such a spacious area? You get to turn it into a makeshift workshop for all your gadget needs, Tornado-related or otherwise. I’m sure that won’t come in handy at some point...
The guest bedroom is one of the most curious rooms of the lot, because even though it’s as nice and tidy as you’d expect, it’s also rather... muted compared to everywhere else. Perhaps Trudy felt no need to modify it further in any specific way, since no one had ever bothered to stop by anyway... until you-know-who and the gang.
Tumblr media
And we can’t forget to mention our fair equine’s OWN bedroom now, can we? Her bedroom opts for darker colours, yet no less therapeutic, which includes the canopy bed that she rests in. You can actually see the general idea with the bedroom (and the outside of the castle for that matter) for yourself, in the Dame of the Daisy mini-comic, courtesy of my awesome friend @benignmilitancy.
Tumblr media
Likewise, although this shot is currently incomplete (don’t worry, Benign is fine with me using it :P), meaning some details haven’t been added yet, you can also get a basic idea of how the balcony is supposed to look here, along with the complimentary view of Viridonia’s oceans.
Tumblr media
So what kind of music would befit Trudy’s castle, you may ask? Well, taking every detail into account, we would need something that goes for that perfect mix of adventure, wonder, warmth... and a faint hint of sadness lurking beneath. Something that gets all four across, but not in a generic, run-of-the-mill orchestra sort of way. Something a little more ambient and down-to-earth, with a more unique and specific kind of intimacy. Something like...
youtube
youtube
This would apply for when you’re inside, mind you. Outside the castle, the surrounding forest would have a theme of its own, though it would share that similar combination of melancholic friendliness. So for the outside, we would go with something more like...
youtube
Overall, the idea behind Trudy’s castle - aside from being her residence and looking enviously pretty - is to add to Trudy’s own character. It’s said that one’s home can say a lot about a person, and I made sure that every room shared a consistent narrative when reading between the lines. They may differ in shape, and they may even differ in colour, but the story is kept consistent at all times. We know that our girl is elegant, we know that our girl has slightly antiquated tastes... and we know that until the arrival of Sonic and Co, our girl was extremely lonely, and isolated by her peers, to the point of staving off said loneliness and isolation by making the place as lavishly detailed as it is in the first place. And just as the stony exterior hides the more fanciful interior, so too is there more to Trudy herself than at first glance.
Besides, not counting Eggman’s endless list of tributes to himself, we don’t often see the characters’ homes in the games, do we? We’ve seen Angel Island for Knuckles, the Space Colony A.R.K. for Shadow, that shack belonging to the Chaotix in Heroes, a few pads of varying consistency depending on the game (Tails’ workship in SA1 VS his house in Battle)... but not much more than that. And what better contrast to Sonic being something of a nomad, than by Trudy living a place like this?
But we’re not done just yet. Last but not least, we can’t forget that mysterious cave hiding down below, where countless amounts of Ethereal Crystals can be found undisturbed... You can bet that such a place would be suitably attention grabbing.
Since the crystals themselves come in practically every shade of the rainbow and then some, the resulting combination - specifically their reflecting shine - ends up painting the cavern walls with just as much colour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It may feel a tad surreal and almost alien, to the point of being a little intimidating for some, arguably. But you know in your heart of hearts that as long as Eggman isn’t in the equation, there is no need to be fearful. After all, Trudy knows it better than anyone else, and although the crystals and their properties may hail from unknown, possibly uncomfortable origins, the horse herself continues to use them for wholly benevolent purposes.
Such a cavern would deserve a theme of its own, no? We’ll need something that drives home the point that the power within has no inherent morality, and can only be as good or as evil as the person using them. So although Trudy’s own intentions are firmly on the side of good, we’ll also need an added touch of minor eeriness lingering in the background, to represent the overarching threat and subsequent implications of Eggman dipping his own hands into the metaphorical Ethereal well, on top of its already unexplained otherworldliness...
youtube
youtube
So yes, it’s quite a pleasant castle that Trudy has, eh?
But this isn’t the only castle that can be found in Viridonia...
Well, it used to be the only one of its kind on the island... until a certain doctor stopped by, decided to beat the horse at her own game, and create his own, darker counterpart in response... But we’ll get to that when we get to that, ho ho ho.

frost fireside cider amber orchard bonfire cobweb maize pumpkin
wow so many
frost - if you could give some advice to your younger self, what would you say?
hmm. get a diagnosis for ur mental illnesses and learning difficulties as soon as u get to college, go get treatment instead of using them as an excuse to not be a better student and all-round person. also, pls understand that some ppl are thoroughly bad. like to the bone. some ppl like to destroy things for fun n it wouldn’t have mattered if they’d grown up in a happier family. this is probably the more important piece of advice because it would’ve saved me from a so-called friendship that ended up ruining my life
fireside - if you had your dream wardrobe, what would it look like?
probably something inspired by the winter landscapes i saw far up north. muted palette, no prints or graphics, more fitting pants but looser tops. maybe a couple of traditional chinese and japanese men’s outfits with the same kind of color scheme
cider - a food that you disliked as a child but now enjoy?
tomatoes. lol so once my mom pointed at another kid at a restaurant and was like “see? he’s eating everything on his plate.” and obviously this was a very gentle n subtle admonishment. but i was very competitive when i was young. so i gave this kid a baleful look and was inwardly like U THINK UR BETTER THAN ME? i have a memory of sitting in front of a plate of sliced tomatoes in the living room while my mom was at work, repeating to myself “i will like tomatoes. i love tomatoes”. and well. i ended up liking tomatoes very much lol so i guess it worked
amber - share an unpopular opinion that you may have.
thanks to stupid movies and exploitative articles such, a lot of young ppl think that when the time comes it will be a given that they lay their lives down for who/what they love. some of u will fail. hope u will not be too hard on urself. the terror of death (dying in a lot of pain especially) is very powerful. what might happen is a reflex just as much as ur knee jerking. that’s why ppl sacrificing themselves is something so terrible and beautiful. because it overrides one of the most powerful instincts in the human brain. don’t let media make u think it’s some kind of common thing.
orchard - share one thing that you’d like to happen this autumn.
i’d like for it to keep raining until november. nothing too heavy tho msians suffer badly when floods come round
bonfire - describe your dream house.
a lot of wood and nice small ceramics. i like the ones where the focus is their form. earthy tones for everything, a lot of negative space... kind of that stereotypical scandinaviany japanesey look, but of course some really ugly and ridiculous cushions in the living room. cute stuff hanging out everywhere too n also a little lab/studio where i can tinker around and make all kinds of stuff. big and well-equipped kitchen also
cobweb - (if you’ve graduated) do you miss high school?
nah not really. i remember most of it being lonely, and i was bored by every single subject except english. i do miss some of my teachers though
maize - share the weirdest encounter you’ve had with a stranger on the street.
not on the street, but someone at a hostel in montana tried to induct me into a cult. they rang up their cult leader to talk to him about me and even gave me a special er, cult name. i’ve forgotten what it is lol
pumpkin - do you think that humans are inherently good or bad?
neither! they’re just human.
thanks rob

PIXI + ItsJudyTime Collaboration: ItsEyeTime & ItsLipTime Review
Tumblr media
It felt surreal when I had the chance to meet Judy Travis of ItsJudyTime and her adorable family back in January. She’s one of the OG beauty gurus in YouTube and she also has a daily vlog channel that I follow every morning since roughly before the twins can stitch three words together. Remember “You want palo?” LOL I’m a fangirl and I love the baby bears way too much, okay Judy and Benji are not far behind… So when Pixi Philippines invited me to the launch of Pixi + ItsJudyTime palettes (with a meet & greet!), I almost replied “Yes, mommy!” to the email. Almost. Whew!
Tumblr media
Anyway, I’d leave these photos from that special day here so that we can go on with the true purpose of this post – the palettes, silly, don’t let Julianna, Miya and Keira’s cuteness distract you further.
Tumblr media
With the guidance of Petra and Pixi Beauty, Judy and the other #PixiPretties collaborators have created their “dream” beauty products that not only represent their individual points of view but parallel Pixi’s philosophy of fuss-free in a few minutes. Judy transitioned to a mom on-the-go (which she does gracefully) who loves glamming herself up from time to time over the years. So I expected her product to be practical, no-nonsense and efficient. And we got it; actually, we got two! A 12-shade eyeshadow palette called ItsEyeTime and its lipstick counterpart called ItsLipTime.
Tumblr media
ItsEyeTime – Retailing at Php1,495 at Glamourbox, this eyeshadow palette is very Judy. Do you see it, too? You get equal amounts of matte and shimmer neutral shades, which lean on the warmer side. The colors are pretty true to what is in the pan, and the actual formula is pretty hard to beat – I’m talking about nice pigment, very blendable and long lasting. The dark shades have better texture compared to some of the light mattes, but all they ever need is a slight boost of an eyeshadow primer.
Tumblr media
Order of swatches is from bottom to top, left picture first then right. Sorry, I kinda messed it up.
Snowflake – Light champagne color that’s really creamy.
Bubbly – Another beautiful shimmery color in gold.
itsmommyslife – My go-to soft, warm brown shade.
Good Morning – Good transitional peach color as it’s sheer enough for that purpose.
Brick – True “brick” shade and very pigmented. One of my favorites!
Honey Bear – Typical matte light brown. Good coverage for a matte finish.
Tu Tu – Another favorite! Reddish brown that looks great on brown eyes. Take note!
Getaway – Ahh, look at that rich pigment! It’s a copper shade with loads of shimmers.
Ping – Deep brown complement of Getaway. Shimmer-wise.
Dark Chocolate – Chocolate brown. ‘Nuff said.
Aww Snap – Brown with slight red undertones. Quite patchy but doable.
Night Night – Black with bluish silver sparkles. I wish it’s more intense and not “soft” because blacks are not soft!
Tumblr media
ItsLipTime – To start, I’m a big lipstick girl but not a fan of it in a pan. My old all-in-one palettes have lipsticks still untouched. Maybe I never got into using my fingers to apply, and I’m all like “who has time for that?” to look for a lip brush when I’m rushing in the morning. However, I find that Judy’s take on lip palette is actually good. The colors, albeit not created equal, are beautiful and creamy. The lighter shades require at least two layers using your finger (yes, it’s better than a brush with this palette) for the full opaqueness to show. They are lightweight and with decent wear time. If nude and berry lipsticks are your jam, you get a color for Php125 as this retails for Php1,495 at Glamourbox.
Tumblr media
Again, order of swatches is from bottom to top, left picture first then right.
Ta-da – A very sheer, very pale nude. I cannot wear this on its own unfortunately; I think its better to pair with another color to create an ombre look.
Peaches – A peachy kind of nude with a good color payoff.
Julianna Bear – JB! LOL It’s a pinkier nude, very versatile and everybody can wear it.
Milk Chocolate – This one looks soft brown on my arm yet sheer dusty pink on my lips.
Kiera Bear – The rosy peach twin. It looks similar to Ate JB. LOL
Miya Bear – The muted rose bordering brown twin.
B Did It – Barbie pink with just enough brightness.
Falling Leaves – My favorite! Like the warmness Autumn color on my lips.
Chewy – Describing shades is tough! Does this look like reddish Miya Bear to you? It does to me.
Fierce – A deep berry. Perfect for night outs, but then again I don’t do night outs. Haha
Sweet Cherry – Classic red shade. Because it’s not a lipstick palette without it.
Sultry – Intense wine red. Another favorite because it has the most perfect formula from the bunch.
Tumblr media
Wearing Pixi + itsjudytime ItsLipTime Get The Look Palette in Fierce
Tumblr media
While I think they are good travel palettes, the Pixi-signature light green packaging has a flimsy clear cover. It feels like a toy, which was the first thing that came into my mind. I appreciate the mirror you can stick on though, that’s a lovely bonus.
--
Overall, I’d bring these when I go on vacations because it’s practical, I cannot complain that I cannot find a suitable eyeshadow or lipstick shade. But not when I’m going to have a long day here in the city, because imagine if I need to retouch my lipstick and a whip out a palette – a bullet is just easier, right? Get them because the darker shades (in both palettes) pack quite a punch, or if you need new colors to play around with, or if like me, you feel the need to get every makeup with Judy’s approval. Haha!

Luckily for the wedding celebration, the rain held off as she arrived at the church in a Rolls Royce only a few mins overdue. The luxury transport featured a customized registration code, analyzing ‘Suzanne & Dylan’.

Blogging Tools: The Importance of Video Equipment for Bloggers
In order to have the weblog, this is relevant in contemporary marketplace area, I suppose having a text is no longer sufficient. Writing a weblog post most effective in phrases limits your readerships’ potential to devour your content. Because some human beings want to examine, a few humans want to listen and some people want to see things on video. Another tool to have is possibly a digital camera, a video digital camera. In many instances, human beings these days have a very superior video camera proper in their pocket with their clever smartphone. It’s quite enough.
A lot of instances, you must not even make investments to the special, committed video camera which you might need however you constantly deliver one with your self in your pocket. I recommend you operate it more often. If your mobile phone or clever telephone has the capability to report films, then, take out it more regularly and record on every occasion you feel like you’ve got a top notch concept for a blog submit, for a teaching to your topic, to your vicinity, whatever.
Because no longer handiest it could be an awesome extra, extra records for your readership but you may even set up a blog, that’s a video blog. Basically, often updated video content that you are providing on your video audience. That’s some thing plenty of people are doing pretty efficiently and they’re having tens of millions of humans watch their films time beyond regulation.
Of path, having simply the smart phone isn’t enough. You ought to have the proper kind of modifying software to edit and to upload your videos to the video sharing sites consisting of YouTube or Vimeo. Basically, you need to add extras like advent or finishing or song background. Something that can not genuinely be brought right from the benefit of your clever phone proper now.
You may want to have the quite simple gear to your laptop and even as you teach human beings in a video, you upload this video to your computer and edit the video content material right there. Then, once you’re geared up, you can upload the very last video, edited the video to the video platform that you choose which include YouTube. Where probably, hundreds of hundreds of human beings can watch your vlog. Keep in thoughts even though that video content takes up quite a few space, both on your digital camera or your clever telephone and on your laptop as nicely.
When you upload, you need to take heed to your limitations. Does your net plan offer unlimited records transfer? I recommend you check this out and in case you are extreme about producing and importing lots of video content material, then you definitely must actually have the unlimited amount of bandwidth on your internet plan.
Personal Color Analysis – Suzanne Caygill, Color: The Essence of You
Suzanne Caygill posted Color: The Essence of You in 1980, the identical 12 months Carole Jackson got here out with Color Me Beautiful. Suzanne Caygill is looked on as the pioneer of personal coloration evaluation and picture consulting. She became a friend of the well-known Edith Head who in turn become a cloth wardrobe designer and representative to in Hollywood.Caygill.Jackson life annuity
Caygill used an accelerated and extra complex model of the “seasonal” shade idea. Artist’s had been first identifying this idea about a hundred years ago. Caygill believed that someone’s season, and sub-kind seasons, should be matched with their personalities, and with their body type. In fact, she believed that a newborn little one’s coloring might then heavily contribute in the direction of shaping the child’s personality.
Her beliefs critically clash with our contemporary ideas. For instance, we trust that women with any natural coloring can appearance quite. Caygill, but, taught that Autumn ladies certainly have robust facial features that might ward off the possibility of her ever searching “quite.” If in fact, she had the misfortune of searching quite, this first-class turned into to be downplayed, in order that her look may be in sync together with her robust personality.
Caygill espoused a private analysis system that corresponded with the four seasons of the 12 months. She assigned colors to different seasons than professional Johannes Itten advocated. Johannes Itten and different shade theorists had agreed that summer time is a bright season with lengthy sunlight hours and vivid blue skies and vivid colorful landscapes; even as winter has a good deal much fewer sunlight hours and is a season of muted colorations, along with blue-gray skies. In different words, she dubbed wintry weather as a vivid color category and summer season as a muted class, despite the fact that picture experts have persisted with this classification machine ever given that.
The Nitty-Gritty’s of a Shia Muslim Wedding Ceremony
It is a first-rate enjoy to be part of the Shia wedding ceremony. Every ritual is self-contained with cultural affluence and distinctiveness. Laughter, pleasure and amusing are the essentials of a Muslim matrimonial event. Unlike Sunni weddings, Shia ceremonies are achieved on a notably marvelous scale. Every ceremony is made grand through lavish feasts and celebrations.
Shia Muslim Wedding – The Ceremonies The bride’s special day starts with the rasam of Mangini. This is the respectable engagement. The reliable wedding date is decided and introduced at this event. As the D-Day tactics, the celebrations begin, with Mayun being the first wedding ritual. According to this, the groom and the bride are not allowed to satisfy from Mayun until the wedding day. The bride is secluded 7-15 days prior to the wedding. She isn’t allowed to do any family chores.
The subsequent interesting ceremony in a vital Muslim wedding is Upton. The groom’s mother and sister put together a paste with haldi, sandalwood powder (Chandan), aromatic oils and herbs. They convey this paste for the bride and follow it onto her face, neck, and palms. A similar paste is prepared and despatched for the groom by bride’s mother. This ceremony is observed with the aid of dholki, Mehndi, and Baraat. The Baraat is acquired at the bride’s house through her sisters and friends. This is an amusing ceremony that involves gently hitting the guests playfully with a stick adorned with plants.
Then, court cases are made to carry out the Nikah (the marriage ceremony). This ritual is conducted by the authentic priest (Qazi). The Nikah is attended best by own family contributors and near loved ones. After the Qazi pronounces the accomplishment of Nikah, the bride and the groom’s dad and mom congratulate each different and bless the couple. Nikah is observed by means of the Muh Dikhai rasam
