Past Present Future WIPs

Rules: past is a WIP you stopped working on/finished; present is a WIP you're currently working on; future is a WIP you want to write.

Past: A lot of my stuff didn't have titles. Uh, there was this one I started during NaNoWriMo one year about a girl who pretty much couldn't die traveling around with a blue skinned woman and a vampire whose ex tried to kill him at one point. They stopped at a haunted hotel, which tried to kill all of them. I'm not really sure where the plot was going. It was NaNo. I was just letting the characters do whatever.

Present: My Veil Ridge series. I'm currently working on book 5 of it, though at some point I should probably go back through all of them and edit stuff. I'm pretty sure a lot of things still need to be named. Each book is about a different character. Right now, I'm working on Chloe's story in which she has to deal with a lot of cursed objects.

Future: Hm, maybe get back to Brynn's story? I started working on it on the side while writing Chloe's story, but I've kind of put it down for a while now. Brynn's story is pretty much about a girl whose village was suffering from an unknown disease. Bad shit happened. She lost her best friend and parents. She suffered a lot. Now she's traveling around and trying to not get killed by the Royal Hunters. Other than that, I don't know. More stuff with supernatural elements? I've always kind of wanted to do a superhero story though nothing ever stuck.

so first of all: i saw that you really liked blue period, and I was wondering how you'd recommend it? I keep on wanting to watch it but my mind goes "but you have this thing" and "what about the other three animes you're watching" but who cares! It looks really pretty tho. (if no, it's just another alphabet with the same order and sounds, except different characters. i hate katakana :,>) because i can't type in japanese on my chromebook, i'll just use the romanji. BLUE PERIOD IS SO SHHEHEHEHHE esp if ur an artist like myself, it gives u a different and probably more professional view of art ^^ For wat i like abt it, i'd say da characters and how theyre written. The main character is pretty relatable. Theres another character who has family issues and may be trans (or genderfluid? it isnt confirmed but she was born male, currently dresses feminine and hates it when people uses her dead name). Another one who was born a 'Genius' but doesnt really understand art, hes only doing it bcs its basically wat he can only do. Another character who'm gets compared to her older sister and so on. Grammar Tip #1

The following are brief explanations of some grammatical terms I will use in this blog most of the time, so take note!

Active and Passive Sentences

An active sentence is a sentence that describes an action from the doer's point of view, while a passive sentence is an opposite.

Examples:

Active Sentence: ジョンはキムを叱った (Jon wa Kimu o shikatta)

John scolded Kim.

Passive Sentence: キムはジョンに𠮟られた（Kimu wa Jon ni shikarareta）

Kim was scolded by John.

Appositive Clause (Construction)

A clause that modifies a noun (or noun phrase) and explains what the modified noun is.

Example: メアリーがトムに会った事実を知っている

Meari ga Tomu ni atta jijitsu o shitteiru

I know the fact that Mary met Tom

"Mary met Tom" is the appositive clause while "the fact" refers to the clause.

Auxiliary Adjective

A dependent adjective is preceded by and attached to another adjective.

Example: わたしはジョンに行ってほしい

Watashi wa Jon ni ittehoshii

I want John to go there

I'll explain this as we progress, but the auxiliary adjective in this sentence is ～てほしい which is in bold letters.

Auxiliary Verb

A verb which is used in conjunction with a preceding verb or adjective.

Example:ビルは手紙を書いている

Biru wa tegami o kaiteiru

Bill is writing a letter

Compound Particle

A particle which consists of more than one word but functions like a single particle.

Example:僕は泳いだが、スミスは泳がなかった

Boku wa oyoida ga, Sumisu wa oyoganakatta

I swam but Smith didn't

Compound Sentence

A sentence which consists of clauses combined by coordinate conjunctions such as "ga" meaning "but" or by the te-forms of verbs, adjectives or the copula meaning "~and"

Example: 鈴木さんは京都に行って吉田さんに会った

Suzukisan wa Kyoto ni itte Yoshidasan ni atta

Mr Suzuki went to Kyoto and met Mr Yoshida

Contrastive Marker

A particle which marks contrast.

Example: わたしは来たが、彼は来なかった

Watashi wa kita ga, kare wa konakatta

I came but he didn't

Coordinate Conjunction

A conjunction that combines two sentences without subordinating one to the other. A typical conjunction is "ga" which means "but"

Example:走っていますが、ちっとも痩せません

Hashitteimasu ga, chittomo yasemasen

I run but I don't lose weight at all

Direct Object

The direct object of a verb is the direct recipient of an action represented by the verb. It can be active or passive.

Example: 山田先生は学生をよくほめる

Yamada sensei wa gakusei o yoku homeru

Mr Yamada often praises students

The catch: Although direct objects are marked by the particle を, nouns or noun phrases marked by を are not always direct objects

Example: 花子はサムの大学入学を喜んだ

Hanako wa Samu no daigaku nyuugaku o yorokonda

Hanako was glad that Ichiro was accepted in College

*Hanako is not happy about College but Ichiro's acceptance into College.

Double Particle

A sequence of two particles. The first particle is usually a case particle and the second is an adverbial particle.

Example: スミスとも話しをした

Sumisu to mo hanashi o shita (I spoke with Smith too)

Embedded Sentence

A sentence within another sentence.

Example: 山田は頭が痛いと言った

Yamada wa atama ga itai to itta（Yamada said his head hurt)

Imperative Form

A conjugated verb form that indicates a command, as in 話せ（Hanase: talk）

Indefinite Pronoun

A pronoun that does not refer to something specifically.

Example:どんな辞書がいいですか

Donna jisho ga ii desu ka?

What kind of dictionary do you want?

Intransitive and Transitive Verb

Intransitive verbs do not require a direct object. The action or state identified by the intransitive verb is related only to the subject. It typically indicates movement, spontaneous change, and emotions.

Example: マリーは走った

Mari- wa hashitta（Mary ran)

On the other hand, transitive verbs are verbs that require an object. It usually expresses an action that acts upon or is indicated by the direct object.

Example: わたしはお金がある

Watashi wa okane ga aru（I have money)

いandなAdjectives

i（い）adjectives are those i endings.

Example: やさしい (yasashii)　たかい (takai)

na（な）adjectives are however similar to nouns.

Example: しずかな (shizukana)　おおきな (ookina)

Nominalizer

A particle that makes a sentence into a noun phrase or clause. There are two nominalizers no(の) and koto(こと). No represents the speaker's empathic feeling towards an event/state expressed in the nominalized noun phrase/clause; koto represents the speaker's relatively anti-empathetic feeling towards an event/state. Either can be used in a sentence, they speak for themselves when used in a sentence.

Example: にほんごをよむの/ことは難しい

Nihongo o yomu no/koto wa muzukashii

Reading Japanese is difficult.

When translated into English, they both mean the same. But in Japanese, using no is better.

Potential Form

A verb form that expresses competence in the sense of it can be changed into many forms. I'll skip this for now, it gets confusing actually.

Prenominal Form

The verb/adjective form that immediately precedes a noun and modifies it.

Example: わたしがよむ Watashi ga yomu (I read)

*This sentence has a nuance of YOU ARE going to do something because others don't want to, or you're emphasizing you are better than them or you're pissed. So, don't use this in a sentence especially when talking to your seniors.　

りっぱなたてもの Rippana tatemono (magnificent house)

Punctual Verb

A verb that represents momentary action that either occurs once or can be repeated continuously.

Example: しぬ (shinu: to die) which you can only do once not unless CPR worked

おとす(otosu: to drop) which can occur many times right?

Stative Verb

A verb which represents a state of something or someone at some point in time.

Example: ある(aru: to have)

Subordinate Clause

A clause that is embedded into the main clause with a subordinate conjunction.

Example: スミスは頭が痛かったので、学校を休んだ

Sumisu wa atama ga itakatta node, gakkou o yasunda

Smith was absent from school because of a headache

Volitional Sentence

A sentence in which a person expresses his will.

Example: わたしはいきましょう

Watashi wa ikimashou (I will go)

WH question

Same with English grammar, Who What When Where How

Who だれ（dare）

What なに（nani）

When いつ（itsu）

Where どこ（doko）

How どう（dou）

Hey! Rei here! I hope you aren’t disappointed that it’s always been me posting the last few weeks, but Kimu is away for this week and is unable to complete any requests, so well… I’m uploading again!

Thank you so much for the request! I think it’s an incredibly brave thing - to shave your head for charity… I really admire you! This being the first time I’m writing headcanons that aren’t relationship headcanons, I hope you enjoy this, and that you have a great day ahead!

Note: When I wrote things like how the members would love you more, I just meant that they’d realise how much they actually love you. It doesn’t mean they love you any less if you didn’t do anything of the sort!

Yoosung

- He would be shocked. Incredibly so. To think that you’d do such a thing…

- As you sheepishly rubbed your head and explained your new appearance to him, he’d just blink rapidly and wide-eyed at you, countless of feelings swirling in his chest. It takes him more than a second, but he finally sorts them out and realises that they’re all of admiration and respect.

- But while he sorts them out he’s just staring at you, and uncertainty would creep into your expression, at which he’d immediately balk at and pull you into a tight hug.

- “Don’t cry…! I was just.. amazed at your bravery.” Cue the blush materialising slowly on his cheeks as he stumbles out his next words. “I- I love you, you know, not in spite of what you did but even more so because of it.”

Zen

- Out of all the other RFA members, he’d miss your hair the most, even if he doesn’t voice that out. Though, don’t get him wrong! He didn’t love your hair because it made you look prettier, like what you believe, but he loved it because he always felt much closer to you in the moments where he’d run his fingers through your hair, deftly braiding it before you go to work - meeting up with party guests to maintain healthy relationships with them.

- His first reaction would be the same as Yoosung’s - to blink wide-eyed at you, surprised that you’d do such a generous act. And then he rethinks and realises that he shouldn’t be surprised at all - it’s just like you.

- He’d let out a small laugh and pat you on your head, gently scolding you for thinking he’d ever think you less beautiful.

- “I never thought it was possible to love you more than I did, but apparently I can.”

Jaehee

- She’d be surprised, for sure, but a gentle smile would immediately spread across her face, and she’d probably ask why you didn’t tell her about the event and what you were going to do.

- “I don’t know if Mr Han would have let me, but I would have loved to do it with you.”

- She’d be super accepting - in fact, she’s supportive - of it, and though it might seem unlike Jaehee, she would totally gush to her friends about how brave you were (and are) to be willing to do so. And every time someone blinks twice at you, she’d be proudly telling them about how you shaved your head for charity before you can open your mouth to explain yourself. You blush every time, and that only makes her think you’re cuter.

- Conclusion: Jaehee would be the most supportive girlfriend if you ever shaved your head for charity? She’d sing countless of praises about you.

- Not gonna lie, for a long time, this guy probably wouldn’t understand why you’d do it. I mean, if you wanted to help those who needed it, why didn’t you just go to him and ask him to donate to them?

- But ultimately he wouldn’t mind what you did. If it’s what you want, then he wouldn’t question it. He doesn’t look at you any different, and if you voice out worries about whether he found you less attractive because of your new appearance, he’d only sigh and tell you that he doesn’t like you for your appearance.

- It’s only when he watches you smile while telling him about your act that he realises the joy that doing such an act had brought to you. And it might take awhile, but he’ll come to realise that maybe giving money isn’t everything you can do to help others, and then he’ll support what you did.

- He’d bring it up as a passing comment on the RFA chat that he was considering doing the same, but Jaehee brought up concerns about how it’d affect his work and unfortunately, the idea was shot down.

Seven

- He’d cry.

- Honestly though, he’d be touched beyond words that you were willing to do such a thing to help others. Being someone who once needed that help - someone who’d reach out to him and offer him support - he finds himself reaching out to tug you into his arms, resting his chin on your head.

- It feels weird without your hair acting as a barrier, so you shy away, but he only holds you tighter.

- “You’re just too amazing… I just want to make sure you really exist, so let me be for a while.”

- You let out a gentle laugh, albeit relieved, and find your arms curling around him too.

V

- He’s smiling the entire time he watches your hair fall. This is V, the person who takes pictures and sells them to donate to charity, and he’d likely be the one who told you about that charity event anyways.

- Much to your displeasure, he’d take a picture of you right after you shave your head, while you were probably still unconfident of your new appearance. You scold him afterward, trying to snatch the camera from him to delete it, but he holds it high above his head and insists that you’re beautiful.

- You’d probably find that picture printed and sent to your apartment later.

- There’s a small handwritten message at the back of the picture that you don’t notice until much later: “I’ll say it a thousand times until you believe it, but you’re beautiful.”

Appearance: Medium-length bronze-coloured, almost metallic hair, styled in a large ponytail at the back. Red strings are attached directly to her wrists, ankles and nape. They're prehensile but usually tethered to her limbs when not in use. Most often, they're seen tethered to a large (1.1 m in diameter) and exceedingly heavy gong that she carries on her back like a turtle's shell. It appears to be made of brass or a similar metal but is far heavier than it should be. It's patterned with black hexagons and has the character "轟" written in the centre in bold. Due to its weight, she can't stand up entirely straight. Attached to her lower back is a thicker red rope with a large wooden mallet tied to the end. Usually bears an expression ranging from a blank stare to a slight frown: not very visually emotive when it comes to positive emotions. Has brown eyes that are reflective.

Clothing: Wears a black samue with metallic bronze lining, the sleeves of which have red string woven into them. She also wears knee-length pants that follow the same style. On her head, she wears a metal object resembling a takuhatsugasa. However, it's actually a decorative gong she wears as a hat (what an odd choice). Due to the sheer weight of the gong on her back, she's unable to wear shoes unless she puts the gong down (its weight breaks them).

Personality: Quite stoic and sometimes almost emotionless to the point where she may seem aloof. Despite how it'd appear, she's very emotional on the inside. If she's feeling exceptionally emotional, she often repeatedly strikes her gong with the mallet attached to her rope-tail-thing, sending loud GONGS throughout the nearby area. Several topics can cause this state, the most notable being inquiries about her past. She's also a bit eccentric, occasionally speaking as if writing a poem with her words. Not opposed to using violence to get what she wants.

Background information: Kimu is a tsukumogami that was born from an old, long-forgotten gong that was never used, not even by its creator. She was created from the Miracle Mallet incident, but due to something not even she knows the true cause of, she persisted after the incident ended. Plagued with insomnia around most of her past, she wanders Gensokyo in search of answers as to who made her, why she was never used, and how she persisted after.

Abilities: Manipulation of resonance and vibrations: Kimu can control the resonation of anything struck by her mallet, ranging from slow oscillations to buzzing vibrations. This ability will function on anything that can vibrate.

Predicting future events: By striking the gong on her back and reading its frequency, Kimu can predict events up to 7 days in advance, the margin of error increasing the farther ahead she predicts. She usually uses it to predict the weather, though. This ability takes a few seconds to work, making it unviable for combat.

Likes: Enjoys loud noises and metal polishing. While she carries it around for a reason, she also likes taking a minute to set her gong down for a while. She also appreciates having her presence recognized, even if she doesn't usually go out of her way to make it known. If you strike her gong yourself, she'll remember that for quite a while.

Dislikes: Hates being ignored, though she won't go out of her way to tell you that unless you make her mad by doing it. Strongly dislikes being told to smile more. Doesn't like feeling useless, either. Being reminded that she doesn't remember a lot about her past is a slight peeve, but nothing she'd fight you for. Has a lingering resentment for humans: one of the only things she knows about her creator is that they were human, so she always goes in with the assumption that any human she talks to might be related to her seemingly ungrateful creator.

Strengths: Being high in physical strength (due to the giant gong) and heavily armoured from behind (also due to the giant gong), she's tough and resilient. Her gong appears to be almost indestructible. While she seems aloof, she's a good friend if you treat her with the respect she wants. Her legs are strong, so when she puts down her gong, she can run alarmingly fast.

Weaknesses: The nature of her gong as an immovable object comes at a price. Due to its immense weight, she's incredibly slow while holding it. She also can't protect herself entirely with it, only one side at once. Her tendency to bottle her emotions up can end with her lashing out at people when it becomes too much. This happens a little more frequently with humans due to her resentment for her creator.

First of all, I gotta say: @queen-kimu-chan and @nagisas-things, reading both of your comments made me super giddy. To answer your question: I would definitely be willing to do more with this. I really enjoyed writing it and I think it's fun to explore the possibility. The "reunion" would absolutely be interesting to play around with. I thought about putting it in that fic, but it was getting super long as it always. Haha. I can't make promises about when it would happen. It's no secret by now that I'm absolute garalbage when it comes to posting regularly or even posting things on time. I do really like this idea, though, and I don't want to lose interest like I've had happen in the past when I wait to long to do a project. Hopefully I'll be able to focus on it and get another chapter out once Lotura Week has concluded. :) (For any that may be confused, the fic in question is the one I wrote for Lotura Week Day 4)

First three panels to a small little thing I’m doing that sums up part of Koki’s backstory I might end up just writing it out because I’m just aggressively lazy

Characters (so far) Koki (Kona Kimu) - main character, obv, the larger child small child - Koki’s little brother, I’ve yet to name him Lady Jirae Lunette - just called Miss Lunette by Koki b/c that’s what she was taught by her mom (who was friends with Jirae so its a little less formal), also one of the High Mages of the Duskwatch. This is before she becomes a Shivarra demon hunter (since its before the civil war) and at the time she’s Koki’s mentor and the Kimu’s babysitter, essentially- she doesn’t mind, anyways
