imagining tommy finding a kazoo on patrol and giving it to ellie and all hell breaking loose. all joel hears every second of every day is ellie blaring the kazoo noises around the house. she stands outside his door in the mornings and wakes him up when it’s time for him to go on his patrols by making rooster noises through the kazoo. when he asks her what she wants to eat she responds with the kazoo. when he asks her where she wants to go she responds with the kazoo. when he asks her how her day was she responds with the kazoo. when he asks her why she’s doing this to him she responds with the kazoo. one time she’s drawing something and when he asks what it is she shows it to him and it’s that damn kazoo again. he wants to get rid of it so bad. he hates tommy so much for giving it to her. he can’t believe his problems went from killing life-threatening infected to being harassed by his kazoo-playing daughter

he finally confiscates the kazoo and that’s when ellie tells him that tommy specifically told her to annoy him as much as possible as a “special mission.” she’s laughing so hard she can barely breathe at his reaction

the next day joel shows up at tommy’s house with one of those obnoxiously loud rubber chickens and gives it to his brother’s year old child. tommy comes to joel’s house a day later with bags under his eyes, promising that he’ll never tell ellie to annoy him ever again, as long as joel NEVER gives his infant child anything noisy for as long as they both live

they come to an agreement, but vengeance has never felt so good (ellie’s never touching a kazoo again, though)

hi pokemon fans. pokemon was kinda my childhood but i never dedicated much of my time to it because of my various other interests but i want to get into it more now (better late than never) !! how do i. get more into it

Yeah. I do think that it really caught hasbro off guard. My little pony, becoming super popular? you probably want to keep that going then, since that probably wasn't expected. like they expected a audience, but not the audience it got.

It would have been better to end sooner, arguably. But at the same time I really love some of those later episodes. So I still respect the show.

My Little Pony becoming super popular wasn't surprising at all. G1 and G3 were both enormous money-makers for Hasbro. So that's 2 out of 3 previous generations.

I've noticed G3 gets mischaracterized a lot as "unpopular" and uh, no. G3 was ubiquitous in the early 2000s, kids loved it. (Collectors also loved it. But kids drive sales.)

G3 ponies are about 5" tall, a little shorter than a G4 Fashion Styling pony. This set included four G3s and a proportionate playset. Picture in your head how much shelf space this would take up.

Now imagine the three OTHER similarly sized playsets on the shelves next to them, plus the "big" playset, the castle. And above them an army of individually packaged ponies . . . all 60+ of them.

MLP FIM had some strong years (especially the year with Cadence's wedding) but I don't know if it was actually more successful than G3. Being noticed by adults is not a measure of success. Wooden blocks wouldn't suddenly "become successful" if an adult fanbase of Blockies emerged.

Ultimately the success of FIM came from kids too. That's why Hasbro introduced the school element when G4 started listing, because kids love boarding school stories. It's why they made Equestria Girls, because kids loved Monster High with its werewolf girls etc.

Hasbro will gladly take the money of adults, they are happy and proud to see that kind of love for their brand. But ultimately they do not plot MLP's course based on how adults feel.

I saw some people complaining about the G5 "Clip Trot" webisode; they didn't like it because they don't like TikTok.

And yeah, I don't use Tiktok either.

But all the kids do.
