to be clear: i don't particularly care about whether or not this website allows porn.

what i do care about is the way that tumblr has historically handled the concept of "adult" as being such a broad brush that it collects SO many things in its path that aren't even adult. like how they censored the results of LGBT tags.

there are so many toggles you have to click now to see even normal safe for work content on your dashboard. like someone reblogging a blue slime gif. like someone who tagged a post as "girl."

and that's insane. people say we have less censorship than other websites but that just isn't true. this website marks so many things as "sensitive"

i mean, hell, i can't even tag my posts to indicate content that is has adult humor in it. i have to use "NSFM" (w upsidedown) so that tumblr doesn't think i'm trying to post or reblog pornography here

i have a sideblog where i reblog gay artwork and SO much of it gets flagged. there's a lesbian artist that dared to draw her characters cuddling and tumblr nuked that into orbit

what i would love is for tumblr to stop treating EVERYTHING with kidgloves, and focus on people actually breaking TOS. people who harass others, people who post glorification of ED, racists, transphobes, etc.

and you may think "but jay, isn't that what they're saying? that they'll now allow artwork provided it isn't pornographic? maybe they won't be flagging these innocent artworks as much?"

i highly, highly doubt that. name one time tumblr's moderation hasn't caught countless innocent people in its net. and the nazis remain!

Seriously not a fan of the BP release regarding Lady SH and Marlene Headley. Looks like the race baiter's being treated with kidgloves yet again. I can only hope the people investigating her charity do a proper job of it.

i used to rp dave religiously and my hc was pretty firm in the "he was abused by bro" take but i always had like a kinsey scale from "bro went a little far and didn't understand how his being neurotic had a bigger impact than he meant to on dave" to "kill him with fire" and you really just have to read the room and assess everyone's comfort levels first. i'd often go with the lightest side possible going into something without knowing what the mood is yet, never wanna be a party pooper

i'd especially hate to run into like, a john who wants to play the savior without asking for that kind of plot first, sometimes a guys abuse is just part of his backstory that comes up in more emotional scenes from time to time and doesn't have to have the whole plot revolve around it if youre just including it to implement little behaviors and symptoms into how you write him. ESPECIALLY if those johns just automatically start handling dave with kidgloves like he's some wilted flower who needs to be coddled and comforted and like... arm chair psychiatrized

Kid Gloves - Lucy Knisley uses her own personal life story as a way to examine the history of woman's health and how the subjugating of woman's rights led and the misconceptions and misinformation surrounding pregnancy that still exist today. This is by far more than an informative journey, as Kinsley opens her life up to demonstrate just how emotional things are and how unexpected life can progress. I learned a great deal to the point I wished I read this before my kids were born. However it does not matter if you have kids or have no interest why it works is her ability place you within each moment and deepen the understanding of where we are by going back to how we got to our current understanding and the issues that still need addressing. I have read a lot of graphic memoirs and what tends to separate to mundane from the great is having a strong voice and purpose behind the retelling of past events.
