Both HBomberguy and Defunctland have recently (November 20th 2022) released new videos which, surprisingly, touch on very similar themes. I highly recommend watching them. Especially if you are worried about the topic of authorship and want to learn more about music and sound in media.
And remember, your media is made by countless invisible individuals, not a faceless company or just one person
love it when kevin defunctland perjurer lulls you into a false sense of comfortable serious documentary when he drops an absolutely deadly one liner like "the wiggles empire"
Me: *stumbles out of the latest Defunctland video sweaty, shaking, and overwhelmed by nostalgia for a version of a theme park that never existed, trying to reconcile that while what the Disney Corporation did accomplish has a place in my heart as a profoundly impactful part of my childhood, it could have been something completely different, more public-minded than both Disney's original plan and the eventual corporate sponsored shadow of itself that it became by opening day; coming to terms with the thought that even if it had made it off the ground as a world-changing force of collaboration between that generation's greatest minds, capitalism is an inherently cancerous, corruptive influence, and the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow would have become warped and bowed to corporate interests anyway, so maybe it's better that it didn't have much in the way of real-world policy influence; that maybe it's better that it became what it was to my younger self: the park with that Norse Mythology Boat Ride Where You Meet A Three Headed Troll*
everyone in the world needs to listen to adam conover's podcast (called Factually) where he had kevin "defunctland" perjurer as a guest purely for the moment where kevin realizes that adam doesn't know who the wiggles are and promptly loses his mind
