Under The Mistletoe
for @newsies-are-the-new-best-thing
Miss Medda was hosting a Christmas party at the theater. Every single Newsie was there including Katherine, Sarah, Davey and Les. Race had garland draped around himself, laughing at some joke he had just told. Some of the younger newsies laughed along with Race, for some reason they saw him as some sort of role model. Jack would say that he was only a role model in goofing off and getting into mischief.
Jack was sipping some eggnog when Davey walked over towards him. He felt his mouth go dry and his hands began to get warm.
“Enjoying the party?” Davey asked moving to stand closer to Jack so they would be able to talk.
“Ummm…uhhh…yeah..um…yup. Definitely” Jack stuttered trying not to appear too flustered.
Davey raised an eyebrow and Jack’s reply. Surprised that his usual cool manner had faltered suddenly. Deciding to push Jack further, Davey moved to be even closer to him. Jack nervously licked his lips trying to avert his eyes.
“I wasn’t sure if I was actually going to come tonight. But after I heard that you were going to be here I thought I would show up.” Davey said grinning at Jack.
“That’s…um…nice…” Jack trailed off. He knew Davey was loving the position he was in.
Race suddenly popped over.
“Hey look everyone! Jack and Davey are standing under the mistletoe!” Race yelled excitedly.
Jack and Davey’s eyes shot upwards at the same time.
There was indeed mistletoe above them.
“I only really see one choice here” Davey said now only an inch away from Jack.
Jack felt like he was stuck in place.
Davey leaned in and kissed Jack. Surprising himself, Jack reciprocated, placing his hands on Davey’s face.
Race was loudly cheering and the others clapped.
“Worked out that the mistletoe was there” Davey said with a little laugh.
“Even if it wasn’t I still wanted to kiss you, but the mistletoe gave me a good reason to”
Jack smiled and took his hand.
“I’m glad too”
Behind them Katherine nudged Sarah.
“Shall we?” She said slyly.
“I think it will take them all by surprise,” Sarah said.
“Well Jack and Davey have had their spotlight, I want us to have ours tonight” Katherine said.
“Lets steal that light!” Sarah agreed.
Katherine pulled Sarah under the mistletoe. She pulled her in, hands wrapping around Sarah’s waist. Jack and Davey looked shocked as well as the others.
“Oh my God if one more couple kisses tonight I swear to God” Race said staring unabashedly at Katherine and Sarah.
“Wait…it might just be that my brain is broken after Davey kissed me but you are together?” Jack asked.
Sarah and Kathrine were beaming.
“Yes, we are,” Katherine said.
“It’s not that we didn't want to tell you guys, we just wanted to keep it our little secret just to make sure that it would last” Sarah told everyone.
“I knew it was going to last but we both wanted to be careful” Katherine agreed.
Race stole back the attention by pouring the punch over himself and yelling.
“Merry Christmas everyone!”
Laughs were shared and the party got underway once more.

Katherine, who accidentally ate Albert's pot brownies and is incredibly high: It got taken by the flamingos.
Racetrack: The flamingos?
Katherine: Yup. They took it. They're naughty.
Albert: What did they do with it
Katherine: They ate it. Slurped it up like spaghetti.

New Year’s Resolutions - Newsies Headcanon
Warnings: none? Stereotypical resolutions if any may be triggering for you
Summary: Let’s just be real and know none of them would follow through except for Davey... maybe. These are unconventional and some are not common but if you think someone would have something else I will definitely change/add it :)
-----------------------------
Jack Kelly: Save more money (probably for everyone else)
Davey Jacobs: Work on self care, go out to eat less
Crutchie Morris: Learn another language
Racetrack Higgins: Quit Smoking
Spot Conlon: Be nicer to his friends, get better sleep
Albert DaSilva: Quit drinking (He definitely planned this with Race)
Finch Cortez: Get organized
JoJo De La Guerra: Travel
Katherine Plumer: Eat healthier (probably some diet) Use phone less
------------------------------
The morning after New Year’s everyone would be on their resolutions
Race and Albert would have to watch each other so neither of them would cheat
Katherine would probably confuse everyone with her new and probably weird diet
Everyone would also have to endure Crutchie butchering whatever language he was trying to learn
If Davey would come around with fast food everyone would tease him
Spot made a deal about being nicer
Having to pay for at least the first two months of the New Year if he was mean to anyone
Finch and JoJo were the only ones with easy resolutions
That didn't mean they would go through with them, but they wouldn’t get teased for any of it
Jack had to help Katherine use her phone less by holding it for her
Katherine would 100% help Davey with self care
Spot would have to get ready for bed sooner, but he would always just stay in bed awake, giving up on the resolution by the first week of January
