West Endsies Sprace is peak "badass woman who is so deeply in love with her pathetic wet cat of a boyfriend" energy except Race is actually just as capable as Spot and she will kick your ass if you imply he is anything less.
Spot: Wow my boyfriend is such a loser
Anyone Else: Lol yeah he is
Spot: Tf did you just say? *beats them up*

Racetrack "physical touch is my love language" Higgins and Spot "if you touch me and I'm not prepared 23 days in advance at least I'll punch you in the face" Conlon.
Race who actively has to restrain himself from shaking Spot every time something exciting happens and Spot who is trying his best not to crave death whenever Racer can't actually restrain himself.
I think that at the end of the strike Spot initiates a group hug and there's a moment of hesitation before all his friends go "fuck it this isn't gonna happen again". I'm fucking insane about these people.
I need to write about them tbh. I need to write the whole of 92sies from Spot's point of view.

Finch doesn’t sleep talk….he sleep sings!! Just imagine at two in the morning or whatever, the boys just hear something like “I dunno about you! But I’m feelin’ 22! Everythin’ will be alri-” Returns to snoring. Any song is fair game but more often than not it’s a feel good, speaker blasting, pop song

Mush Meyers headcanons (92sies)
Mush Meyers is the resident flirt of the lower Manhattan newsies, but he has one of the saddest backstories.
Mush was born as Nicholas (Nick) "Mush" Meyers to an African American mother and an American father. Both of them died from pneumonia when he was seven.
Had an older brother named Mark, who was shot in the chest and died.
Mush decided to start selling papers when he was eight years old because he needed to be able to fend for himself.
He met Jack Kelly, Racetrack Higgins, Skittery, Kid Blink, and a few other newsies.
At first, it was hard for Mush to get settled, as some of the older newsies at the time (save for Dutchy, Specs and Skittery) were jerks. So he, along with Jack, Blink and Racetrack, made a pact to never let them treat them like that. They didn't want to be pushed around any longer.
It was during this time where he met Kid Blink. It was quite hard for the latter, who doesn't warm up to anybody for easily. But Mush is just too sweet to not be friends with, so Blink hit it off with him right away.
Everytime he sells papers, he sweet talks his customers. So far, it's always worked.
Mush meets different girls every night, but is still looking for that special somebody to share his life with.

I wanna hear your thoughts
OKAY SO-
Given that basically the only interaction they have is Katherine going 👀 at Crutchie's leg while he snarks her, safe to say it's a lot of headcanon
- Katherine means well. She truly does, she's got so many good intentions, and she very quickly becomes fond of the newsies
- But the class divide becomes very clear at times, and one of the most obvious times is when she's around Crutchie. She's rarely ever come into contact with disabled people before, especially not to the extent of making conversation with them. And she never got the chance to get to know Crutchie like she did the other newsies
- Whenever she's spending time with the newsies, she goes out of her way to try and help Crutchie. A bit too much, sometimes
- Crutchie appreciates the sentiment, but explains to her that when he needs help, he asks for it. If he hasn't said anything, it's fine to leave him to manage by himself
- Katherine does her best to learn, even though she still doesn't quite understand. She watches how the other newsies interact with him, careful not to be overbearing but also to be aware of the limitations he does have
- She invites Crutchie to tea one day (when her dad's away on business). He's not very keen on the carriage ride there, and the food is a little too rich for him, but he loves asking questions and making silly comments about Rich Person Stuff
- It takes Katherine a while to stop snatching glances at Crutchie's twisted leg, or instinctively going to help him up from where he's been sitting. Crutchie appreciates her efforts
TLDR Katherine has never met a polio survivor before and she has to learn not to treat him differently

i’m thinking about Davey being the first to kiss Jack. Cause Jack is too focussed on wanting to do it right and finding the perfect moment (cause he is a complete mess when it comes to flirting) and Davey is just done at one point and kisses him in an alleyway before they are heading back to the Lodging House

Jack having abandonment issues nd that's part if why he's always talking about Santa fe cuz he wants to leave before they leave him first it hurts less that way.
Omg yessss
Jack's dad may have died, but he didn't have to immediately fend for himself.
Until his mum bailed on him, of course.
He didn't know what to do. He found the lodging house, he started getting acquainted with the newsies...
...but what if they left him too?
He remembered his old man's stories of the western frontier; of Santa Fe. That's where he was gonna go. Because in Santa Fe, dads don't die and mums don't abandon you.
Nobody leaves you behind.
That's what he tells himself.
He stays friends with the newsies he grew up with. He's a big brother to the little ones. But he makes it clear he doesn't plan to stick around. He's going to Santa Fe.
But after the strike... he realises something.
If he goes to Santa Fe now.. he'd be abandoning people who need him. Like his ma did.
He knows now the newsies aren't planning on leaving him anytime soon. They need him, and he needs them.
So he decides to stick around.

penny for your marie thoughts??????
Marie Delancey
I hold her gently in my little hands real
She is a solid mix of OBC and Livesies Morris
If you can't guess from me referring to her as Marie, she's transfem
She has all the gender. All of it. She is the only one of the siblings with any concept of it and I think it's really fucking goofy
Older sibling, obviously. Like, 2-3 years older than Oscar
She has much better memory when it comes to their parents than her younger brother. She was old enough when they were handed off to the Refuge that she could vaguely understand what was going on. It made lying to Oscar all the bit more difficult about their parents coming back for them
Marie straight up was the one who taught Oscar how to tie his shoes. W Marie arc
She enjoyed reading and taught Oscar how to while they were in the refuge. She also taught him other skills like writing and counting
If anything, she was the one who cared for him the most before they were taken in by their uncle. This included defending him while he was still little, and later teaching him how to defend himself against the bigger kids without her help
As they got older, she became a lot quieter. Words weren't her strongsuit anymore and she opted to being more physically intimidating. She left the whole barking up a tree thing to her little brother
Marie being the "muscle" of the two isn't for shits and giggles either. She is much stronger than Oscar and has often threatened people (usually their uncle, sometimes other newsies) for attacking her little brother with malicious intent. There have been times they've tried to call her bluff and she gave them a WONDERFUL reason to believe her
She absolutely ADORES cats. She was never able to properly keep one as a pet due to Weisel, as well as the fact she was never home, but she took care of nearby strays quite often. One that stuck around for quite a while (and she even snuck into the house during the winter) was a little white cat with heterochromia 💚
The cat's name was Snowball

Spot Conlon and the rest of Brooklyn all being girls actually means so much to me and not in a "See women can be strong too!!!" kinda way because like. It just makes so much sense???
Like, okay so if you stop thinking about it as "the strongest and most fearsome group of newsies is also all girls" and instead think of it as "the group of newsies that are all girls is also the strongest and most fearsome" it all starts clicking into place.
Because if you were Spot Conlon, if you had a group of young girls who all live and work on the streets to take care of, of course you would want to have this big, intimidating reputation of being the best fighter and strongest leader. If every other borough, most of which are made up of dozens of teenage boys, believes you can and will soak them for so much a stepping foot in Brooklyn, they won't dare think about so much as touching one of your girls.
Of course you would make sure all of your girls know how to beat an opponent much bigger and stronger than them. If someone does mess with them, they have to be able to fight back. Not just to protect themselves, but to make sure that whichever idiot thought it was a good idea to mess with Brooklyn never dares try it again. They have to be able to win that fight and all future fights.
Of course you would be super territorial and make sure you don't give a single inch of leniency towards the other boroughs. You can't show any kind of vulnerability, no matter how capable you are. Being "just as strong" as the other boroughs isn't enough because they will never see you as an equal. So you choose to be seen as a threat.
Brooklyn has to be strong. They have to be scary. They're not any more violent or mean than the other boroughs, but they need the others to think they are because the alternative is being seen as an easy target. That can't happen.
I also feel like Brooklyn wouldn't have this reputation unless they were forced to. Like, if it were up to them they would be kind and welcoming and friendly. But whenever they gave an inch the other neighborhoods took a mile. Whenever they showed even an ounce of kindness there was always someone who took that as a sign of weakness.
It's not fun being isolated. It's not fun being feared. But it keeps them safe and that's the most important thing. I think Brooklyn only has a reputation of being strong fighters because they keep being forced to fight.
I have no idea if this is even remotely comprehensible but do you see my vision? I just. The idea of Brooklyn being the strongest borough out of necessity instead of desire. Spot Conlon being a girl has so many implications about this character's backstory and motivations that we've never had before and it's so much more than just "Hey did you guys know women can be competent leaders too? I know, WILD"

jack talks about That Scene again and no one is shocked
I feel like Spot is quick to anger (obviously) but he's not irrational with his anger. He's snappy and brash but he's not going to ACTUALLY beat you up for no reason. He has a plan and it's normally to intimidate until the other person backs down. If his goal is to pick a fight then he goes into the interaction differently, but he very rarely gets into actual fights in an uncontrolled rage. And sure, this leads people to think that maybe he's all talk, but there are definitely stories of him fighting and winning, so that sort of talk tends to get squashed.
I think he only gets into controlled fights, things like fights over the leadership of Brooklyn, or the strike, that sort of thing. He talks about throwing his friends off the bridge, and offhandedly threatens people with a soaking, but he tends to not follow through unless it escalates to that point.
All this is to say. No one's really seen him lose his cool. He's even joking around a little during the strike, he's so confident that he seems to just have it under control. So when he's desperately trying to calm people down when Jack's standing in front of the union dressed in the clothes picked out by Pulitzer, no one's really expecting much. A loud threat or two, as he keeps Race and Hotshot calm, sure, but not for him to get everyone silent and to then turn heel to face Jack and just scream himself hoarse. He just lunges straight for him and half the newsies immediately grapple him and frantically try to simultaneously calm him down and keep him AWAY from the guy he seems to be trying to actually kill. Spot's screaming and yelling about Jack being a traitor and it's set all the newsies off again, the littles are crying in anger and fear, the older Manhattan newsies have seemingly been given the go ahead to start yelling as well, and all the Brooklyn lot are (obviously) ALSO absolutely livid.
And, yeah, they quiet down soon enough, with Spot being held tightly at the back of the group like some sort of hostage, and Davey's speaking to Jack and telling him that even he's feeling betrayed. But even after they disperse, everyone starts treating Spot like glass, because Jesus Christ NO ONE knows what to do in that situation. And he HATES it for sure, so off he goes, back to Brooklyn, furious at both Jack for scabbing, the Manhattan newsies for changing their treatment of him and himself for getting that emotional.
This ALSO works well with my post about Spot getting REALLY overstimulated in that scene because that has him on the floor sobbing, unable to speak or feel any sensations at all. Yeah. All in all the only people that don't treat him differently afterwards are Davey (because Davey gets it, he understands what it's like to deal with that - autistic Davey for REAL) and Race (because they're best (boy)friends, nothing would change that, no matter what).

Newsies dog or cat people headcanon
Brought to you by @newsies-but-theacadianway because she asked which newsies would prefer dogs or cats in a discord chat and these were my answers
Crutchie: loves both
So does Mush
Albert is very middle ground. Likes cats because they’re independent but he can run around with dogs
Specs, Elmer, and Buttons are cat people
@skywalkin-in-the-papes put in my head Race is a cat person
Jojo is a hamster guy. Don’t ask why it goes with his randomness
Davey has a mild allergy but likes cats
Sniper isn’t an animal person but animals love him
Romeo…I dunno. Gives me rabbit vibes
Les isn’t allowed to own anything that isn’t a gold fish
Tommy boy is ok with whatever. Long as said animals leave his stuff alone
Finch is and forever will be a bird boy
Jack is a horse person. Duh

🤝 ask game:D
🤝: A plot bunny inspired by a friend/another user.
Ok idrk if ‘inspired by a friend/another user’ means i got inspired by smth a friend/another user had written alr or got inspired directly from that person. But i can def answer one where i’m inspired by what one of my friends, @smallsies ,had written:)
Newsies in a zombie apocalypse. But before they were in an apocalypse, they were college students. I’m thinking like they were getting their masters when the first zombie outbreak happened. But they were all in the same campus in manhattan, so to survive they used their campus as a base camp. They made tall fences, utelize the med school equipment, utelize the labs to looks for cures/vaccines, take care of the library in case they need extra knowledge.
Albert is a med student, Sniper is a nursing student, Crutchie is a vet student, Elmer is an architect student, Race is a mathematics students, Davey is biochemical engineering student, Sarah and Ike are mechanical engineering students, and so on. I’m too lazy to list them all sorry hehe.
Here’s the thing: not all the newsies that we know and love are within that campus. A few went to college in california. There was Mike, Jojo, Specs, Blink, and Mush. With their very own campus overrun, they make a run for it. Mike had a hard time trying to keep surviving without knowing whether his twin brother was still alive or not. He cldn’t contact him when it first started. So he’s pretty hurt with the knowledge that he might just be dead.
A couple years went by, and the gang are still trekking the state bcs they’ve never had permanent shelter before. They didn’t realize they arrived at new york. They ran into another gang that showed hostility. They know with how tough supplies can get and how scarce safe territory is to look for, ppl get extra greedy and lose their minds to keep/get some. They squabble, not long before mike and ike realize they nearly killed their own brother in the process. The reunion was emotional and heartfelt. Ike convinced his gang to let Mike and his friend stay. Besides, they cld use more help in figuring out how to make a cure/vaccine.
Thanks for the ask:)
Send in some asks for the plot bunny ask game!!

I would love to hear you ramble about Kenny
And I would love to ramble about Kenny🥺
Okay all of this has literally no basis or grounds whatsoever, because Kenny was Denied a personality in Livesies (I literally didn't even know he existed for the first few watches). But he's my little guy and I'll be damned if I don't have Thoughts about him
- Kenny's one of the more reserved newsies. The lodging house is just a place to get a meal in the evening and have somewhere to rest at night. The newsies aren't his "family", he doesn't need one
- He starts adjusting this mindset after the strike, though. Seeing the other boys look out for each other.. maybe he does want in on that. So the first night after the strike's over, he asks to play cards with Race and Buttons
- But that's not to say he didn't get on with the others. He played with the younger newsies if they needed someone extra in their games (he even helped Crutchie make his "STRIKE" banner) but just kept his distance regarding opening up about things
- Once he started socialising more it turned out he was one of the best stickball players in Lower Manhattan. The younger boys always want him on the team because it gives them a fighting chance
- As I've mentioned in a previous post I headcanon him to have been brought up in a church orphanage, but unlike JoJo he had a very, very poor upbringing. He ran away when he was twelve
- As a result, he didn't get on with JoJo for quite a while. He felt angry that JoJo still had a good relationship with his faith and the nuns who raised him, and took that out on him unfairly
- JoJo doesn't pass judgement on others though, and didn't hold it against Kenny. He gave him space and was nice to him if they ever interacted
- Eventually Kenny asked to join him for his nightly prayer. Only once, just as part of his attempt to socialise with the others more, but it made a difference. He started letting go of the resentment
