Fic Auction for Charity!
Alright y’all! The time has come! Now through Sunday, August 28th 11:59PM (Central Daylight Time) YOU have the power to guide my hand and decide which of my many, many, (many) kaishin WIPs will take priority and ascend to the top of my list!
This is part of a charity event run by @ficwritersforreproductiverights !
How??
Well, I’m an accountant. So we’re gonna use money. Every dollar donated to any reputable charity anywhere in the world that is fighting to support and protect reproductive rights will be 1 vote. (More details below the cut.)

Vampire!Shinichi
Gay drama! Kaito’s deeply closeted and dealing with some internalized homophobia and it’s ruining his and Shinichi’s relationship. Can love conquer all?
Porn! Starts out with a sexy dream and a bit of voyeurism, ends with actual sexy times~
Other porn! Involving blindfolds and a bit of roleplay
I’d be happy with any one-shot fluffy get-together fic if it means you’ll have something new to post faster~❤
Detective Conan Movie Cut Scenes: Private Eyes' Requiem
Look, DS, I just want you to focus on the the next installment of the Fall into Flying universe!

There is a $1 minimum as $1 = 1 vote (If donation is in a different currency I'll go with the closest reasonable equivalent.)
First, pick a charity. If you already have some that you like, that’s great! If not, try this helpful list!
Next, make a donation and take a screenshot of your confirmation that shows which charity you donated to and the amount donated.
Send that screenshot to me either on tumblr, on discord (DragonSorceress22#9937), or by dropping it in this google doc here – whatever you find easiest. (Please be sure to black out or exclude any sensitive personal info in your screenshot! Safety first!)
Along with your screenshot, tell me which option number(s) you want to support:
For example, if you really really really, want vampire!Shinichi to win, and you made a $10 donation to Charity A, you can send me your screenshot and say “all 10 of my votes are for Option 1!”
Or what if you can’t decide which is better: porn 3 or porn 4? You could split your donation total and say, “5 votes for Option 3 and 5 votes for Option 4!”
Or any variation thereupon
There is a $1 minimum but there is no maximum! If you want to come in absolutely wreck the system by making it rain because you’ve just GOT to have that Gay Drama™ in your life, you can do that! If you want to give a little to a lot of different charities, or go all in on one charity you really love, it’s all good!

Vampire!Shinichi. Working title: Different Means. This fic would also feature magicalblood!Kaito (he’s basically vampire catnip in this scenario, let’s be real) and would be rated E for sexy times as well as for violence. (Whump? You better believe it.) The idea belongs to @kiwilart and their friend, but I got real obsessed with it and they said it would be okay if I wrote my take on it : ) This would be a little bit of a longer fic. Probably with chapters instead of a one-shot.
Gay drama! Working title: runner. Kaito’s deeply closeted and dealing with some internalized homophobia and it’s ruining his and Shinichi’s relationship. Can love conquer all? Well this one’s got a happy ending, so yeah, I guess it can lol It will be rated either E or M for sexy times – not sure yet. I’m guessing this will be a one-shot.
Porn! Working title: It Was Only Just a Dream. Starts out with Shinichi having a sexy dream and Kaito having a bit of voyeurism. Ends with actual sexy times~ Rated E. No plot. One-shot.
Other porn! Working title: Rival Fantasy. Involving blindfolded Shinichi, a bit of bondage, and a bit of roleplay as sort of pre-relationship thief and detective (instead of the practically married couple they already are in this fic). Rated E. No plot. One-shot.
Any one-shot fluffy get-together fic. I’ve got a fluffy get-together G-rated one-shot that I could probably crank out pretty quickly if it’s what the good people want :) Working title: In My Dreams from the song of the same title by Ruth B.
Detective Conan Movie Cut Scenes: The Private Eyes' Requiem. Has it been two and a half years since I posted one of these? Yes. But that doesn’t mean I’m not still working on it. But now you have the power to say, “No more waiting! Give us Kaito’s perspective on the hostages in a theme park and detectives wearing bombs movie!”
Look, DS, I just want you to focus on the the next installment of the Fall into Flying universe! I’ve been working on Blackout for probably three years now, and I’m still only halfway through the eighth chapter. The pandemic messed me up for a while, but if the people decree, I will get my butt back on track and focus in on this mighty beast of a story! This one comes with the bonus factor of tumblr teaser posts every time I complete a chapter! The first seven are already posted ;)
Some general notes:
You are only voting for which of these WIPs I bump up to priority status. If your favorite doesn’t win, that does not mean I’ll never write it, but it could mean you’ll be waiting a much longer time to see it finished.
You may well see me posting items that are not the winner of this auction before the winning fic from this auction. That could be due to the fact that I owe specific people specific fics from other charity auctions, or as part of a commission exchange, or because I tripped and fell on my keyboard and oops I finished this other fic and what am I gonna do, not feed you guys? Please be patient with me.

shipping aside... making them related just ruins one of the most fun running gags which is that kaito can pass off as shinichi by pure coincidence because gosho has same face syndrome and can only draw like three unique male character designs at best and also because he just smooshed the worlds of detco ang magic kaito together for funsies

I've realised I write consistently for only one fandom at any given time (DCMK lol), so here are some of my (completed!) works that I'm quite proud of! (Titles in order of posting, newest to oldest)
Yōkai? Ryōkai! : Chps 1/1. 12k words. KaiShin. Shinichi and Kaito finding a place with each other while solving a yokai murder mystery. (Written for the DCMK Secret Santa Event 2023!)
All Things Bright And Beautiful : Chps 1/1. 15k words. KaiShin. In which Prince Kaito and enemy Knight Kudo Shinichi really have no business falling in love, stuck on the brink of a political firestorm, but they do so anyway. Enemies to friends to lovers. (Written for the DCMK Secret Santa Event 2022, rated E)
Wilting Beauty, Blooming Nightshade: Chps 7/7. 22k words. KaiShin. Hanahaki AU! Kaito has been pining for nearly 5 years now, as the flowers he coughs out reminds him. Caught in a murder mystery on a cruise liner, he has (probably) his last chance to confess his feelings. (Written for the KaiShin Reverse Bang 2022.)
Includes 4 gorgeous pieces of coloured artwork and 5 sketches by my artist partner of the event @rux363
Two Is Company : Chp 1/1. 2k words. KaiShin. Post-canon slice of life, where Kaito and Shinichi meet as professors in a university.
The Ace Up Your Sleeve: Chps 7/7. 16k words. KaiShin. Post-canon. Kaito attempts to play detective when a case involving a BO member surfaces after years of inactivity. And the enemy is not who he expected at all. (Written for the KaiShin Reverse Bang 2021)
Under The Full Moon: Chps 1/1. 4k words. Gen fic. There is a ghost on the loose, with spirit detectives Kudo and Hattori on the case. Kaitou Kid would just like to get out of this mess. (Written for the DCMK Halloween Exhange 2020)
In the Name of Science! : Chp 1/1. 1k words. Crack fic. Humor. Akako and Ai decide to collaborate on a project, and Hakuba suffers for it.
Jar, Not Jewel: Chp 1/1. 1k words. KaiShin. A take on the acquisition of Pandora, and its aftermath. (Written for a Fandom Games event on Tumblr)
Hyacinths and Roses : Chp 1/1. 5k words. KaiShin. A heist stake out and a police stake out cross paths. A thief is asked to "lend a hand" in help. (Rated E)
A Case of Identity: Chps 10/10. 49k words. KaiShin. Identity reveal AU. Post-Conan, Shinichi meets Kaito, as Ran's to-be-boyfriend.
Silver Bullet: Chps 3/3. 7k words. Vermouth, on meeting the two most important people of her life.
Kindly Cruel: Chp 1/1. 2k words. KaiShin. Detectives are like sharks in the ocean, ruthless hunters after blood, and Shinichi especially so.

Kaishin being cousins is so fucking funny to me because it means Yusaku and Toichi really decided to just never let anyone know they were related??? Also Yusaku and Yukiko and Chikage are all contenders for worst Uncle/Aunt awards for never checking on their nephews after emotionally devastating events.

To appease my frothing rage and remind myself why I love the ship, I would like to offer you and the lovelies a few of my very favorite KaiShin fanfic recs. My personal favorites on AO3 are "A study in scarlet" by kittebasu (casefic + character study), "Dominoes" by scratchienails (superhero au), "The suffering of fools" by Angelicsentinel (what happenes in Vegas), and on ff.net "(Not) Supernatural" by cursed detective (fake supernatural shenanigans). All of them are fantastic, though they can be kind of heavy, and I reread them frequently! (Not) has shinichi somewhere on the ace spectrum, though I don't think the author ever explicitly states that, and is a bit more humorous than the others if someone wants a slightly lighter hearted take. If anyone is interested and feeling as inclined to ignore stupidity as I am, please give them a try!

It's then, that he hears it. The melody that has been stuck in his head all day, the clear chimes of bells, the rising voices of the choir, the energetic, forceful movements of the orchestra, it's all exactly what Kaito's mind has supplied him with. It fills up the redecorated temple, completing the illusion of being in a church. Every Sentinel perks up at the powerful sound that is almost physical, and they seem confused, instinctively looking around as if they can't make out the source. Kaito, however, hidden on a beam high up, surrounded by his doves, doesn't have any trouble locating it. Their eyes meet. A flimsy fragment of a thought, a tendril of emotions connects them as their rhythms align effortlessly and the music seems to swell, growing into a breathtaking, speedy fortissimo, before falling silent.

Kaito: Oh, right. I forgot. (turns back)

Kaito: (kisses Shinichi's forehead)
Shinichi: (startles)
Kaito: I promise I'll be back soon before you know it. So, wait for me okay! See you in two weeks, Shinichi! (walks out from the house.
Shinichi: (stares at the closed door)...
Shinichi: (smiles) Idiot. (put his hand on his chest) Don't make such a promise like that.

Does anyone else have two or three OTP they continuously hyper-fixate one after the other? And then you need to read all the fics, all the doujins and then when you read all of them, you go back to the other pairing and hyper-fixate yet again and by the time the cycle of that one is complete, the other pairing already got new content out so you go back to hyper-fixate yet again on the first pairing?

Or is it just me?
For me it is a never ending cycle of obkk and kaishin…

KaiShin fic idea: Post-canon Kyoto arc
Somewhat based on this old drabble of mine when Kaito followed Shinichi to Kyoto
I've thought and thought and thought some more on what kind of fic I'd like to see when it comes to the Kyoto arc. In the end, I thought that it'd be nice to see the Kyoto arc that's set in Post-canon BO takedown
Shinichi can finally return to his old life after weeks of recovery and the 1st thing he gets to do is to go to the Kyoto field trip
The school field trip is set on Shinichi's 3rd year of high school which makes him 18 in this
Since I tend to HC that Kaito is a year older than Shinichi, Kaito is in his 1st year at uni which makes him 19
after the takedown, Kaito disappeared for awhile to recover and to think what he wants in life now that his dad is avenged and the BO can no longer hurt people anymore
so when KaiShin meet like in my drabble, it's not only the first time they meet as Kaito and Shinichi but also the first time they've seen each other since the fall of the BO
while he hadn't realise it before, Shinichi's feelings for Ran had slowly changed from romantic love to sibling love when he became Conan. He started to understand whenever he's around KID and ultimately accept it when instead of a blushing flustered mess at his classmates' teasing about him and Ran like he used to, Shinichi finds himself calm. He'll always love Ran of course....just no longer in love with her
now free to be around each other without worry of hidden crows lurking about, KaiShin tends to unknowingly act like a couple. Not like in a lovey-dovey way per say. But more like something from the victorian era? as in, Kaito always offer his arm to Shinichi like the gentleman he is as they walk and Shinichi always accepts it, holding onto Kaito with this content smile on his face
It doesn't help that Shinichi tends to have this adoring look on his face as he holds onto Kaito's arm which clued pretty much everyone within the vicinity that Shinichi's irrevocably in love with Kaito
While hakase was the one to reach out to Jii out of concern for Shinichi's still recovering health, Jii was the one to suggest about Kaito going to Kyoto. Not only as way to give his bocchama some much needed relaxation but to also give him and Shinichi the opportunity to spend time together without worry now that the BO is gone
Basically, the Kyoto arc is set post-canon with KaiShin recovering from the takedown by spending time together in the ancient capital
