WIP introduction : Teacups and Ticking Clocks. (TW: mentions of schizophrenia, delusions, narcolepsy and ADHD)
This is my newest WIP (it's literally only a couple days old) but I treasure it with all my heart, honestly I don't know why I just do. Kinda similar to Aurabreak, it's very different to my other WIPs. This time it isn't because of the audience though, it's because of the genre.
Unlike most of my WIPs, Teacups and Ticking Clocks isn't really a fantasy novel, despite being inspired by fantasy. As the name might have suggested, it's a moderen day parody of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll. Also, it isn't by any means a one for one parody, a lot of the stuff has been changed, such as relationships between characters amd the overall story. I also added some extra characters as well ;D
Since it isn't Fantasy, there isn't much world building to cover so I'm probably gonna dive into the characters cause well, I feel like it.
Alicia Lennings (Alice) - Alicia is an 18 year old girl with diagnosed schizophrenia. She lives with her older sister Lori, older brother Garrett and one of his boyfriends Derrick. Her parents work away from home (a different city) so she doesn't see them too often. Alicia currently attends Silver Creek Community College and studies Media Studies, History and Art there. Her, Bianca and Chester often visit Grey's tea shop together. Alicia also has appointments with Dr. Caroll twice a week.
Bianca Harely (White Rabbit) - Bianca is extremely shy, though fiercely protective of those she loves. Like her girlfriend Alicia, she is 18 years old and attends Silver Creek, where she is studying Psychology, English (Literature and Language) and French. She also loves to write poetry, though she would be sooo embarrassed if anyone actually read it. Which is kinda a problem since it's what she's planning on pursuing a career in.
Chester Kade (Cheshire Cat) - Chester may not be the most academically minded but they try their best. They're a little older than the other members of the main trio (19 years old) but are still at college due to having to redo a year. They are ultimate chaotic neutral energy but are always there for their friends. The courses they're studying at Silver Creek are drama, geography and law.
Rosalind Heartman (Queen of hearts) - Rosalind (or Rosa for short) is 18 and attends Silver Creek, like the main trio. She studies food and nutrition, art, film studies and drama. However, she finds them (and almost anyone else who is different ) as far lesser than herself and those few whom she holds in high regards. Rosa often expresses her distain to those around her, especially Alicia, who she often calls crazy and other ableist insults.
Grey Conwell ('Mad' Hatter) - Grey is older than most of the main characters, not by much though, he is 21. Throughout his teenage years, he apprenticed at a small tea house. When he graduated, he ended up buying the shop when it was up for sale. It is now known simply is "Grey's Hat and Tea Emporium" as he also sells hats he creates. Grey has ADHD and like Alicia has sessions with Dr. Caroll, though his are only once weekly. He's also in a polyamorous relationship with Garrett and Derrick.
Mars Harely (March Hare) - Mars is Bianca's younger cousin. He is best friends with Dorine and the two are pretty much inseparable. He doesn't attend Silver Creek College since he only just turned 16 (he goes to the local high school instead) but he does work a couple of weekend shifts at Grey's.
Dorine Abbot (Dormouse) - Dorine is a sixteen year old, who like her friend Mars works part time at Grey's when she is not in school. When Dorine is on shift, there always has to be someone extra working with her, just incase anything happens due to her narcolepsy.
Dr C. Caroll. - Dr Caroll is a psychiatrist originally from a small village in Cheshire. He has many clients, though out of the main cast he works with Alicia, Bianca and Grey (who was the one who first told Alicia of him). He is a kind and gentle man, who is always very patient with his clients.
I think that's pretty much all for now!
Also, now that this monster of a post is done, I can get back to answering asks and tags! :D

Thinking of some Pokémon related flavour text again and something happened.
Ingo: Hello Farmer. I have to ask, have you ever been to Galar? No? Sorry, its just that I could imagine you with a Galarian Pokémon. I'll have to tell you about Galar some time, they have the second best railway system in the world. First place being the Battle Subway, of course.
Emmet: Hello Farmer. I challenge you to a friendly Pokémon battle, tomorrow at dawn. A 1V1. Be warned, you may be verrry resistant to Electric but Galvantula can counter with Poison and Bug! Huh? You don't have a Pokémon? But I am Emmet! I swear I've seen a Shiny Applin following you around! Strange.
(Junimos make me think of Shiny Applins since they're both apple shaped, I know they're considered fairy tale creatures in Stardew but maybe prolonged exposure to a Ghost-type would allow them to see the little forest spirits?)
Funny you bring up Junimos and people mistaken them as Pokémon…
In Stardew Valley they are basically forest spirits. You go see the wizard etc to be able to read Junimo text and talk and understand the Junimos. The strange creatures in Stardew aren’t Pokémon… (or maybe they are… who knows… no one does) so people outside of Stardew could mistake them. (Which can be dangerous if you ever go to the mines)
One of the many item drops you can give Ingo is Void Essence and Solar Essence basically the Stardew Valley equivalent of souls… which he will give to Chandelure to consume.
As for Junimos well… people don’t see them. Not unless your the Wizard or Abigail.
When you yourself the farmer first see Junimos which is in the first community center event with Lewis you see them try to point them out and well he just thinks your seeing rats.
Ingo and Emmet prob won’t notice the Junimos… Chandelure most definitely will. Ingo small maybe but he is to busy with the railroad alongside Emmet to see them.
Now you as the farmer. You can see the Junimos. You can understand them. And strangely enough…. You can understand the Pokémon too…
The heck did the Wizard give you?!?
When 1.6 comes and we are able to implement non-standardize NPCs sprites. You can interact with Ingo and Emmets Pokémon but instead of hearing their crys you can actually talk to them like a human would to another human.
Think like N from Pokémon BW/BW2
(Plus… it fun and easier dialogue wise to not just type there crys out or repeat there names… or text boxes that say a narrative. Plus we can come up with fun heart events for them!)
Ingo and Emmet have no idea that you the farmer can understand Pokémon and it basically kept as a secret between you and the Pokémon themselves…. Plus.. be kinda a crazy claim to say - I can talk to Pokémon.
Here are some dialogue we have come up with. Of course all the Pokémon have there own personalities.
Just one of the many examples. (Yes I used Dark Mode….) You the farmer can understand the Pokémon everyone else can’t.. and that all thanks to that weird drink you took with the Wizard and saw all the trees…… swirling…..
During heart events where the farmer is with other people with Pokemon around. The Pokemon when speaking will either say there names or sound effect dialogue prompt thing..but there actual translation which you the farmer will hear will be in ()
For example.
Joltik: Hi! Your going to give me that battery right?
Joltik: *Squeaks* *Squeaks* (Hi! Your going to give me that battery right?)
That way when during events.. with say People around.. they will hear the sound of the Pokémon. While you the farmer well… you can hear them talk!
We will be posting an event soon that does have this kind of dialogue as an example.

So, a good many months back, after finishing the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC, I had been in quite the Xenoblade spirit, and decided I had wanted to make a few cool little crossover artworks between XC3 and Cherish to celebrate that fact.
Due to a number of circumstances that I can’t seem to recall at the moment, the project eventually got shelved, however, and it was only now that I was finally able to return to those artworks and complete them.
For Arthur, I’ve drawn him to be an Agnian offseer, as I feel it best befits his rebel attitude in not wanting to directly partake in the cycle of death and war, and for Paul, I’ve depicted him as a steel-rank Kevesi commander who has dual-wielding swords — to portray him as someone who is not by any means an amateur at war, and to reflect the deadly nature of his ability as we see it at the end of Fifteen, and also in Storm Bringer. They are both in their eighth terms.
I think the idea of a Paul who, despite being a fairly high-ranking and trusted commander, would one day meet Arthur and feel compelled to defect from their lives in the colonies and protect him, despite Arthur being an Agnian and in spite of the danger it puts them in to do it, would very much capture both the spirit of Cherish and Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s overarching theme.

The beloved A-10 Warthog has a brand new role: bomb truck
Bombs away!
Photos recently published to the Defense Department’s Defense Visual Information Distribution System and first spotted by our colleagues at The War Zone show an A-10 Thunderbolt II assigned to the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron taking flight with 16 GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) mounted across four separate BRU-61/A bomb racks during one of several test missions that took place between April 19th and 20th at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
The test was intended to evaluate an updated version of Operation Flight Program 11, a major software upgrade that included a patch to allow an A-10 to support two additional SDB racks. While the 40th Flight Test Squadron had flown an A-10 with 16 SDBs before during developmental testing at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida in February 2022, the Nellis test marked the first time the 422nd TES in particular “carried and employed all four bomb racks of GBU-39/Bs on a single jet” using the new software, according to the DVIDS photo caption.

While the A-10 is mostly known for its beastly 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon (and associated ‘BRRRT’ report), the Warthog already has air-to-surface precision strike capabilities in the form of the AGM-65 Maverick missile and the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance kit. But as our colleagues at The War Zone note, the 250-pound SDB would provide the A-10 with a significantly improved precision strike capability over ranges up to 40 nautical miles away.
The integration of the SDB into the A-10s — initiated in 2018 under the Air Force’s Common Fleet Initiative raft of upgrades for the airframe — will “give the A-10 a four-fold increase in standoff bomb capability and allows the A-10 to provide weapons effects in much [greater] threat environments than before,” as Maj. Matthew Kading, the A-10 Test Director for the 59th Test and Evaluation Squadron, told The War Zone way back in 2020 while detailing the Warthog’s biggest upgrade in decades.

Deploying the A-10 as a bomb-laden precision strike delivery vehicle is a change of pace for an aircraft explicitly designed to provide blistering close air support for friendly ground forces, a design that proved particularly effective during the U.S.-led military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last two decades. But with the Pentagon retooling for a possible near-peer conflict with China, Air Force leaders remain convinced the aging airframe would not survive contact with advanced enemy air defenses.
While lawmakers have fought to keep the A-10 flying into the 2030s, keeping the venerable airframe in the fight means finding new mission sets. As A-10C weapons officers Maj. Maurice Grosso argued in Task & Purpose last year, loading up the Warthog with both standoff weapons (relatively long-distance missiles and bombs) and airborne decoys could give the aging aircraft new life in a high-intensity conflict against a sophisticated air defense network.
“The A-10C has up to 10 weapons stations available,” Grosso wrote. “In today’s Air Force, where new fighters have fewer weapons stations in order to prioritize internal carriage and stealth, the A-10’s sheer volume of available weapons stations is a force multiplier.”

Indeed, the Air Force is clearly embracing Grosso’s logic not just with standoff weapons SDB, but with those airborne decoys as well. In December, A-10 pilots from the 74th Fighter Squadron flew from their home at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia to Guam for an integrated strike mission with B-1B Lancer bombers while loaded up with ADM-160 Miniature Air-Launched Decoys (MALD), 300-pound miniature aircraft designed to launch mid-air and duplicate the signature and flight profile of other aircraft to confuse enemy air defenses.
At least one B-1B pilot appreciated the A-10 assist.
“Having a combat-proven platform like the A-10 provide support through their MALD decoys increases the probability that our aircraft and weapons successfully strike their targets,” Maj. Daniel Winningham, a B-1B instructor pilot with the 37th Bomb Squadron, said in a press release about the exercise at the time. “The training opportunities provided by sorties like this are invaluable.”

It’s unclear when A-10s might deploy overseas touting MALDs or SDBs, but one thing is clear from the Warthog’s slow and steady transformation from CAS darling to armored bomb truck: you absolutely can teach an old dog new tricks.
“The A-10 is famous for its 30-millimeter Gatling gun and ability to carry large weapons loads,” as 74th FS squadron commander Lt. Col. Matt Shelly put it in the press release after the MALD exercise. “But we must move beyond the weapons and mission sets that made the A-10 famous in the low-intensity conflicts of the Middle East and accelerate change in this way to be a force multiplier for combatant commanders.”

I too think it is the sexiest plane ever and we see them flying over Tucson almost every day (for a little while longer.) But the A-10 hasn't been a survivable airframe for decades. Davis-Monthan has a new mission and a big boneyard. It's time to let these venerable aircraft rest in peace.

Why aren't they sending a few of these monsters to Ukraine for their counter-offensive? 6 of these with air support could do a lot of damage and might even blow a hole in the Russian line.

Can Someone explain to me why no one uses
A-10s in Ukraine? When I saw those multi mile
long convoys of Russian Tanks, ETC. standing
ready to be sent out, I thought that this would be the perfect
Weapon to take them all out quickly and with no loss of our lives.

The Ukrainians have been begging for them, but our leaders don't think it's survivable. Between MANPADS, SAMS, and the MiGs, it would be a rough mission.

So I've posted about my OC, Olive, here and there but I haven't actually introduced her.
Olive is my MC from @absentia-if. Absentia is an interactive fiction game where you play the role of a school teacher who was ripped away from everything you knew and loved when you were abducted on your way home from work 5 years ago. After your escape you have to navigate a world that left you behind and piece together clues to figure out who your abductor is.
There are 5 gender selectable LIs to choose from. I'm choosing Kade - your spouse you left behind when you were abducted. You also get to have a dog.
Full Name: Olive Lewis née Moore
Nickname: She goes by Ollie/Oli with the people she loves and considers family. She hates being called Liv/Livy and will not respond to it.
Age: Unless there is a concrete age chosen she was 26 when she disappeared
Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Birthday: Undecided, born in September unless a concrete birthday is chosen.
Sexual Orientation: Bi/demisexual, though it’s not something she neccessarily knows about herself.
Body Build: Pre-absence she had an athletic build full of muscle from all her outdoor hobbies. She lost much of her muscle tone in captivity and has to work to get it back.

Pre-absence - long brushing just past her waist. She usually kept it braided or a low bun. She had been talking about getting cut and had asked Kade if he thought she'd be cute with a bob cut. She had never cut her hair so short, but she wanted to donate her ponytail to charity (something like wigs for kids) and raise pledges among her friends and coworkers.
Post-absence - pixie cut. She doesn’t want it to be grabbed.

Dark/medium brown with grey. Pre-absence her hair had natural highlights from her always being out in the sun.

A faint scar running through the right side of her upper lip from when she was thrown off her bike while mountain biking when she was 14. She cut her lip on a broken branch but was otherwise unharmed.
A scar from when she had her appendix removed.
She has 3 tattoos. A paw print just above her left ankle , two sunflowers on her inner right forearm, and an apple surrounded by blossoms on her left shoulder blade.

Olive would leave Kade silly little love letters and doodles on sticky notes hidden around the house in weird places for him to find.
He was still occasionally finding them months after her disappearance, each one breaking his heart more than the last.

Olive knows the language of flowers and she sometimes uses them to express how she's feeling when she’s having difficulty being open. (for example Kade might find a blue pansy pressed in one of his favourite books, Blair might come home from work and find a bouquet featuring zinnias in a vase on the dining room table) Olive never gives somebody a flower without taking the flower’s symbolism into account.

When she and Kade moved into their home together Olive devoted the first spring and summer to building a beautiful flower garden. She used to help her mother in the garden growing up and ever since she was a little girl Olive wanted her future home to have a big flower garden featuring sunflowers and she was determined to get it. She poured herself into researching plants, soil, and gardening zones eager to make her garden the best she could. She tended to it year after year and expanded it as she learned, creating a truly incredible garden.
Kade does his best to maintain her garden now, but he doesn’t know half as much about gardening as Olive, and it hasn't been truly beautiful since she's been gone. He makes sure he replants sunflowers year after year and brings cut ones to her grave.
One of the ways Kade can see Olive healing, at least in the spring and summer, is through their garden. Even from the beginning it shows how far she has come that she can finally pick back up something that used to make her so happy. The garden flourishes when she is, and it declines when she's not. When he notices the garden is struggling or that she's not tending to it like she normally would, he knows to reach out to her and remind her he's here for her, and he's not the only person who is. He also puts an effort to help her in the garden, not necessarily on his hands and knees in the muck as it rains like Olive sometimes is, but enough that it's their garden now not just Olive's anymore. And for the times she's out there in the muck and rain he's got a warm drink and towel heating up in the dryer waiting for her inside.
(Gardening is one of the hardest hobbies for Olive to pick back up because it requires her to feel like she has a home again. She doesn't want to put down roots (literally) if she's going to be leaving. While it might not be something she would pick up fully again during the game as it depends on how Kade's route progresses, I could see her starting to help her mother in her garden and growing some sunflowers in a pot later on in the game, but before they're together again.)
(Any houseplants have always been Kade’s responsibility- Olive always manages to forget about them. That didn’t stop her from sometimes buying them though 😅 She’d try naming them to make her remember to take care of them but it rarely worked. She had a christmas cactus that she got as a gift from one of her students that she managed to keep alive - its name is Fred.)
(Lavender was one of the first things she planted in her garden at the request of Kade.)
Olive had set up a little seed bank on her and Kade’s front fence where she put extra seeds she didn’t need for other people to take because she wanted everybody to have the opportunity to garden. She had been in the process of helping build a community garden at her and Blair's school when she had been taken. She had intended to move the seed bank she had on her fence there once the garden was complete so it could reach more people.
Now that she’s back she gets to see the community garden not just completed, but flourishing, and the positive impact it's had on the community in those 5 years she was gone. She wasn’t around to complete it, but other people cared just as much as she did and it makes her very emotional in a bittersweet way, but mostly sweet. Kade and Blair had moved the seed bank to the school after the garden had been completed and the community has it filled with a huge variety of plant seeds. The seed bank is where Olive gets her first seeds when she starts gardening again.
(Olive had been thinking about getting a little beehive as her next summer project after the community garden was completed, but still had to talk to Kade about it.)

Morning had always been Olive’s favourite time of the day. She’d always wake up early, usually before the sun is even up, and just revel in the calm and quiet, a sacred moment for her to be alone with her thoughts before the chaos of the day begins. She’d get to enjoy watching the sunrise and the animal activity in her garden through the window as she made her and Kade a good breakfast every morning. She always tried to have it ready for when Kade wakes up, not out of a sense of obligation, but because it's a small, simple thing she could do to make him happy and helps start both of their days off well. In return he’d make both of their drinks because she likes the way he makes it best. He doesn’t do anything special, but she insists it tastes better when he does it.
Post escape mornings are a much more conflicting time for her. Stillness and quiet that used to make her feel calm now bring her anxiety and a feeling of loneliness - she had 5 years of being alone with her thoughts. Getting Ghost helps make mornings special for her again, using her morning to focus on him. Her mornings now start with getting him fed, a training session, and taking him for a morning walk or jog before coming home to prepare human breakfast.
When together again Olive still wants to make her and Kade breakfast every morning, even if she doesn't always have it ready by time Kade wakes up anymore. I don’t imagine Kade would mind that at all.
(Breakfast food and baked goods are the limit of Olive’s skills in the kitchen. She tried to bake something every Saturday to bring to the Sunday family dinner. Olive helped with prep work for dinner, but it was usually up to Kade to do the seasoning and cooking.)

Hunting and fishing is something Olive did since childhood with her father and/or grandfather. She didn’t go hunting and fishing as often as an adult with a busy life, as it was more about the bonding experience for her, but when she did she used it as an opportunity to support her community by giving any surplus to the local food bank or soup kitchen. Outside of hunting she would never hurt animals if she could help it, being the type that catches spiders in cups to put outside instead of squishing them. She feels guilt with every snail crushed by a poorly placed step on a rainy day. (She wanted her students to develop empathy for all creatures big or small. Every living being is important, you can’t just hurt something because you thought it was insignificant.)
After her escape Olive never hunts again. She has no moral opposition to it, she just understands what it feels like to be prey far too well to ever feel comfortable killing again.

Olive keeps little bags of lavender in her pockets because she likes the scent - she finds it very calming and helps with her stress. She started the habit because as a teacher she couldn’t wear perfume and kept up with it outside of the classroom because she ended up liking it more. The lavender would come from her own garden.
Post-absence you can tell when she’s upset and trying to hide it because you can suddenly smell lavender; she’s squeezing the little bags in her pocket as hard as she can like they’re stress balls.

Often, especially in the beginning of her recovery, Olive is kept up at night thinking about all the people in the world that are currently in the position she had been in. Alone, scared, and feeling abandoned while waiting for a rescue that may never come.
When together again, She and Kade have a lot of late nights with tea as he holds her and runs his hands through her hair. Sometimes, during these moments she tells him things about her time in captivity, but mostly they sit in silence as shes comforted by the warm mug in her hand and the sound of his heartbeat as she lays her head on his chest, often finally being able to fall asleep while listening to it knowing she's not alone anymore.
Post game Olive is able to regain her sense of self, agency, and power by doing all she can to help people like her (both living and deceased) be brought back home. She gets heavily involved in charity for missing people donating her money, time, and labour. Ghost helps her in this because through him she gets involved in dog training and cadaver dogs specifically. There are times she's travelled across the country with Ghost to participate in searches for missing people as a volunteer. Cold cases are particularly important to her, as she was one, and she reaches out to the families of missing people volunteering her services. She can't say this work makes her happy because it's often grim and heartbreaking, but it's satisfying and allows her to take back the narrative of her life. Horrible people exist and there is nothing she can do about that, but she can help the people they’ve hurt because she’s not helpless anymore.

My Thoughts and Theories on The Future (SPOILER WARNING AND CUSSING!!!!)
.So... The new Mystery Skulls Animated video was released yesterday and all I have to say is. I’M LOSING MY FUCKING MIND. So much happened at once that I’m kinda reeling from the ideas and theories swirling in my head. But first things first Arthur is alive but it seems that Vivi’s life might be on the line as I does not seem like her wounds were taken care of and she might bleed out. Second, the image in Lewis’s Locket changed. Could this mean that his motive has changed as well? Third, WHAT IN THE ABSULOTE FUCK IS THE DEMON FROM THE CAVE DOING THERE?!?! Because you can’t tell me that he was just in the corner somewhere. Fourth the tails and Mystery himself. As soon as this happened me and my friend were shocked and immediately started theorizing. Ok. Now that I've basically done the online version of screeching out my thoughts, I have a theory that surrounds mystery’s tails.
Those nine tails must represent someone that he was close to as before he transformed Arthur’s arm started to glitch out with yellow electricity and Lewis cringed. But who this tails represent is hard to figure out but I can guess a few of them at least. The light pink to blue must be Lewis. One of the blue tails has to represent Vivi while the other is Moshi. The yellow and orange ones might represent Arthur and Lance (maybe. maybe not. I do know that one of them has to be Arthur’s). The red one must be Mystery’s. The black and white ones might be representative of Shiromori. But the main one that I’m concerned about is the green one. Only one character is that color and that is ??? (who I call Kade). Not only that it would seem like Kade has been chipping away for a long time. How can you tell? His tails. If you were to pay attention to the video you can see with each new event happening, a shadow of mystery appears, a shadow that we have seen before.
We originally see his shadow with six tails in Ghost during the flashback scene. But now after what’s happened to him...
He has nine tails now. It is not to long after this that he passes out and we see his left ear and front left front paw turn green. But the signs of Kade show up earler than this.
In these images we see that mystery’s eye and mouth have a green color to them a color that we associate with Kade. Meaning some how before this situation Kade had already done something to Mystery or has at least gotten into his body. But how? Now this might seem like a stretch but what if Kade’s spirit was in Mystery’s body this entire time but was hibernating until now and saw it as the perfect opportunity to come out. But when would of Kade gotten the opportunity to possess Mystery? Why the cave incident of course. Mystery was biting the area where Kade had possessed Arthur. Honestly there is so much to unpack. Plus there is going to be the search of what the song for the next video going to be. But when I get the chance I’ll talk about some more of these things later.
