HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYUUSAKU/Q!!! ( and me :D )
+ the camera man
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A digital illustration of Yumeno Kyuusaku from Bungo Stray Dogs. They have a golden party hat on their head as they eat strawberry cake. Crumbs are all over their mouth as they look up into the viewer/camera while they eat a piece of the cake. On the upper left, it says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Q!". The artist's signature is on the rim of Yumeno's party hat. Below the illustration, there is a black and white doodle of Paul Verlaine and Chuuya Nakahara from Bungo Stray Dogs. Paul Verlaine is recording Yumeno eating the cake with his camera. He has a slight smile on his face. On the side, Chuuya stares in confusion at the strange way Verlaine holds his camera. They both are wearing matching party hats with Yumeno.\.End ID]

I'm sorry but how does anyone think that RIMBAUD would be the shy/inexperienced one in a relationship vs VERLAINE the literal man made being who hasn't properly experienced anything before
Like you're telling me Verlaine wouldnt crumple like a soda can in a hydraulic press and be hyperventilating in the corner, clothes messed up, hair in disarray at being called "Honey" for the first time but Rimbaud would???????????

We always talk about how lovesick Verlaine is, but what about Rimbaud
Yeah Verlaine sulked in a basement for six years but Rimbaud gave up the last scraps of his identity, broke his own self-imposed rule of not having friends/lovers, wrote in his journal like a lovesick teenager about how he would "walk through any hell for his partner", insisted he would bring Verlaine back to France, put Mori's hold on the mafia at risk and attempted to kill two children to find Verlaine, used the last moments of his life to console the child Verlaine had cared so much for and then became a singularity to maybe see Verlaine again.
Bro was whipped

Supernatural beings in Bungou stray dogs.
HP Lovecraft: Eldritch being. He's able to transform parts and even his full body with tentacles. His true form is a giant entity made up of squid like tentacles and bat wings.
Dazai has confirmed that this form is not be an ability, and can't be nullified by him.
Bram Stoker: Vampire, referred to as the undead king. His ability can turn others into his kin and works like an infection. Bram has quite typical vampire abilities.
He has caused one of the 10 great calamities.
Atsushi Nakajima: Weretiger. His ability can transform parts of and even his whole body into that of a tiger. Including gaining tiger like senses and speed.
Atsushi can negate physical wounds, returning his body to its original state. And has previously transformed under a full moon.
His ability has been called the antithesis (opposite) of all special abilities. It is also the guide to the book. Atsushi had stated his ability isn't an ability, it's himself.
And has been called a beast of calamity.
Chuuya Nakahara: Vessel of Arahabaki. Arahabaki is referred to as a god of calamity. Arahabaki first appeared as a 4 legged black beast of fire and smoke.
Corruption, aka the true form of Chuuya's ability is the result of Arahabaki overidding Chuuya. Turning him into a being wanting and relishing in destruction.
Paul Verlaine: Vessel of Guivre. Guivre is referred to as a demonic beast, as it was named after said mythical beast. A giant black beast that appears reptilian, but not made of physical matter rather as limitless energy.
It reacts to emotions, primarily hatred and would become hostile to anything it perceived as a threat. Becoming overridden by Guivre has a similar effect on Verlaine as Corruption has on Chuuya.
Spotting quite the similarities 👀

The God era has fallen a long time ago. Many names were lost in time, along with their greatness and wealth.
The only ones that remained were the ones that could be associated with historical things and other religions.
You knew them all, or at least, most of them. After all , You mother herself was one of those that were forgotten, and let's not talk about your father, who everyone knows but forgets about at the same time.
Your mother was the goddess of nightmares, your father the one and only god of reality
Now, the titles were revoked from your parents a long while ago, which means that You aren't a Goddess anymore, but You could be considered one of the most powerful witches. Your powers are based on those of Your parents, which means You could transform horrible nightmare like creatures to reality. Monsters under the bed, big spiders, people from the past with a more deranged personality, You name it.
Of course, in the witch world, You are very respected for your abilities (feared as well) but to the people that don't have powers think You are a crazy woman with a rather sinister look and a raven that hisses at people (sometimes with a cat that caws too) even if You were of a rather young age
One day You were reading alongside your pet a fantasy book at the local library when he observed You from a distance
“that's not how magic works” You mumble and the crow nods
“oh, and how are you so sure?” he asks as he sits down next to you
You don't respond to that, which he finds interesting to say the least
He quickly grew interested and when he wanted to ask around about You, he soundly faced a problem he didn't think would occur : everyone described You differently.
Now he clearly was interested in finding out everything he can about You, after all, if You were just what he expected, he could use your powers to make his plans so much easier
But no, You were too smart for that. No matter how much he tries, he can’t make You do what he wants, You never fall for his words. And truth be told, he found that at the end of the night when he replayed all of your conversations in his head, he was being played by You
And gods above, how he started to like it, like it so much that the next time he saw You, he brought a little present with him, one taht he knew You have never seen before:
The limbs of the suitors You had. And to your horror, he threw them around the house, your house, in all the places your creatures were hidding, even giving one to your crow that was actually one of your most trusted nightmares hidden behind a harmless form
You didn't know how he figured it out, but looking into his eyes, seeing that crazed looked made You sure of something : he was the nightmare that became reality for you

Not to talk about The French but I'm going to talk about The French (Stormbringer Spoilers)
I've been hyperfixated on Rimbaud and Verlaine for 5 months and I'm going batshit insane about them (I feel like my obsession is dying down but let's hope I'm just feeling the general affects of mental illness, anyway) and due to my regular perusing of Stormbringer and Fifteen, I noticed something that stuck out to me.
In Rimbaud's log-book entries, the moon is mentioned a total of six times,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Initially I wanted to use this to calculate the time between entries, thinking I could estimate the time frame between them (since Asagiri won't even bless us with the DATES) but then I noticed just how many times the moon is mentioned in reference to Verlaine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is all in the epilogue of Fifteen, but it's so evident in Stormbringer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, all of these are from scenes that include Verlaine, or are in direct reference to Verlaine, or in lines said by Verlaine. The real kicker for me though was this next one.
Tumblr media
This is the last time the moon is referenced in Stormbringer. After the Singularity Beast within Verlaine is killed, the moon is never mentioned again.
Now all this is Super Exciting and all, but just you wait.
Tumblr media
MOTHERFUCKER
Mind you, I figured this out after researching moon phases for half an hour so I was PISSED. (Seriously my notes about Rimbaud's journal just turn into incoherent rambling about here)
But read the actual poem and tell me this isn't Verlaine
Tumblr media
Firstly the imagery of songs and dancing fits with the metal particles that were used by Pan/N to control Verlaine
Tumblr media
Also the disguise/mask imagery connects with the cold demeanour that Verlaine presents
"Singing all the while, in the minor mode, Of all-conquering love and life so kind to them They do not seem to believe in their good fortune,"
Not believing in good fortune???? Like Verlaine didn't believe in Rimbaud's love for him?????
Now I can't tell if I'm going insane (I am) or if this makes sense but I've been told this makes sense so hopefully it does.
In conclusion, I think Verlaine's ability is called Clair de Lune, thank you for coming to my tedtalk.
