You got to the Inugami agency in a similar fashion to the boys - you were looking for your parents.

Before arriving you lived at an orphanage. You were one of the eldest children and one day, while playing outside, a younger child ran to the street.

You tried to save them but you ended up being run over by car. You should be dead, yet you got up and walked away after a short while. Everyone freaked out.

That's how you ended up at Inugami's

Agency. You fitted in pretty well, got along with Akira - you both often went to try sweets and sightseeing plushies.

Now, getting along with Shiki was trickier, but you managed it. You got interested in his games and watched him play, sometimes cheering for him out loud and you both jumped up and down when he managed to win.

The one you had… a little odd friendship was Kabane. Despite you both being ghouls, he was very aloof and oblivious.

Nonetheless, you spent most time teaching him about social cues - the other two helped a lot.

It was fairly amusing to see both you and Kabane going on missions. Kabane didn't mind walking through whatever, but you were more careful. It didn't mean you didn't lose a limb or two, but you rather not go through that ordeal.

Which made Kabane not quite understand your carefulness - it grew back anyway.

You two shared a special bond, though. Something only you two could understand - the odd feeling of losing a limb, of getting used to pain, of just being a head.

That also opened a room for good tactics. You could coordinate fighting just fine - although you would rather not to.

You acted as a kemono shield for the other two children anytime. Meeting Kabane was very important for both of you.

To have someone to share what happens to your kemono side and new abilities that can awaken.

Sometimes it sparked a little jealousy from Kon - she disliked how you two could understand each other so easily - but you promise a million times Kabane was just another ghoul, like she would find other kitsunes.

You tried your best to protect Kabane from being tricked by others - specially Nobimaru's nonsense - but sometimes he was too oblivious to see what you meant, leaving you and Shiki frustrated.

Kabane also protects you from fights. As he knew you disliked it, he tried to call all fights to himself, usually letting you take care of bystanders or Akane.

All in all you both had a cute and sibling-like relationship!

Characters: Grave, Billy (very implied fem-reader), and Jyuji

We need more Gungrave fanfiction, cause *cracks my knuckles* I’ll just do it myself if I have to. Might be some self-indulgence lol

Grave

— gets really concerned and doesn’t exactly know what to do, you just get really good at hiding your tears and emotional sadness. From a lot of the group apparently.

— now he just knows cause he had happened to catch you off guard is all.

— Grave really does get worried about you, but his intelligence on the perceptive thinking of emotional intellect hadn’t exactly come back to him fully.

— He was so glad Mika offered some tips on how he could help, he genuinely was a little stuck sometimes. Albeit stunned too.

— when he had noticed you were sitting by yourself in the metal van, (or truck? Idk what it is.) he had simply turned to sit by you and engulf you in a very warm and large hug.

— obviously you were surprised and caught off guard by this sudden display of affection that Grave was showing for you, causing you to stop in your tracks of crying - but upon realizing what he was trying to do for you, you couldn’t help but appreciate his efforts.

— eventually you had fallen asleep upon his chest, he didn’t mind though, Grave may be an old deadman but even he still knew that people needed rest. Especially every kinds of rest.

Rocketbilly Redcadillac

— this ghost man knows. Billy is exceptionally perceptive and in tune to people’s needs and emotional states; ladies like you in particular.

— a very firm believer in treating all women with respect, regardless of which age you are, and it’s the job of a real man to supply that kindness.

— albeit, he was simply a ghost unfortunately. Billy couldn’t embrace you, hold you and tell you it was gonna be all okay - alright.

— Billy just hated himself for that, having to go about other methods of cheering you up within proper reasoning to be able to support you in your difficult situation.

— His go-to option was playing some music Billy had thought you were familiar with, as he was taking a shot in the dark; he was extremely glad, very much so once he saw that you began to perk up and the tears had stopped streaming down your beautiful face.

— “You alright there miss?” He would offer you a gentle smile, taking a deep pause in his playing to look you over. You couldn’t help but laugh, thinking of his actions to be cheesy.

— “Billy what the hell are you doing?”

— “Trying to cheer you up, one cheesy thing at a time.” He grinned, closing his eyes once he knew he heard your laugh. “Is it working?”

— You nodded, trying to stifle your giggles and laughs. “Yes, thank you Billy.” Letting yourself feel a new wave of calm, you smiled properly toward the very sincere ghost-man.

— a chilling wave swam through your cheek, causing a warm heat to bloom to your cheeks. You realized what he was doing, you knew he was trying to caress your face. You had stopped him, he let you.

— Billy still felt angry for himself not being able to properly soothe you like an actual man. But he managed to bring a smile to your face, even if it was through rather… cheesy means.

— “That’s good, I’d rather be damned to limbo if that meant I could see such a pretty smile on your face beyond words miss.”

Jyuji Kabane

— an extreme sense of smell, it wasn’t limited to things ordinarily such as organic smells; smoke, water and the occasional poison. He could quite literally smell the lethargy of sadness that had irradiated and wore down your body for quite some time now.

— He didn’t know how to take an approach to comforting you, as he is like Grave - emotionally constipated. Which would make for some difficulty in dealing with people who are more empathetic then he is.

— definitely hates it, not knowing how to do this for you. How to comfort you properly, like a ‘friend’ should. Though he isn’t completely sure if what he feels towards you are platonic feelings, like the dumbass he is, he suppresses them.

— Billy decided to nudge him with a helping hand and offer up some advice to the (very disgruntled) half-seed, half-deadman.

— Jyuji decided to opt for getting you your favorite snack and just offer a hug or two. Something of which was completely a little out of character for the hot-headed bundle of a man to do.

— “How’d you remember this? I only mentioned this to you two days ago!” Jyuji looked away when you had looked at him with very surprised eyes, you noticed the pink blush dusting his cheeks to the shells of his ears.

— Jyuji was never gonna admit it, but at least he managed to crack a smile on your face. To which he was thankful to be able to distract you from all the stress, however long he could for a while.

— He huffed, “Yeah, well we deadman also happen to have extremely good memory.”

♡ VIDA (Kujo Tenn)

“Lay your burdens on me, I can bear all the weight of the world with you on my shoulders.”

— Vida, strongest fighter on the Surface, leader of Kokujohyako, wielder of a mighty scythe that can slice through anything as long as it's guided by his hand.

— In truth, he’s just a lonely man, whose heart had to become of iron and barbed wire in order to not sink alongside district 12.

— Bloodshed and death are his closest comrades in this desolate plane.

— And they must continue to be in order to keep those he loves safe.

— That’s his two friends, and, above all else, you.

— How did someone as bright as you bound up in such a region in the first place?

— You always had that sweet smile dancing on your lips, becoming sharp edged and mischievous when needed; you weren’t afraid to get your hands dirty and fight.

— Vida wishes you didn’t have to. What would it have been like, if no blood had ever stained your skin?

— From the top of a building that somehow has endured all disaster, he sighs. A gust of wind ruffles his hair, akin to threads of stardust carrying scattered wishes into a sunless sky.

— He hears steps. He knows that pattern by heart, his muscles relaxing; no need to draw his scythe, for no surprise enemy attack is coming.

— Just your footsteps, followed by your arms wrapping around him from behind.

— Your head rests on his shoulder, lips brushing the shell of his ear, his sweet scent dancing all around you, as the evening begins to settle in, the wind picking up with darkening skies.

— “Something on your mind, my Vida?”

— He sighs, those sunset eyes of his fluttering closed, hooded by the constellations in his lashes, at the same time the horizon dyes starlit.

— A soft sigh escapes your lover’s lips.

— “Nothing, nothing.” He says, that unadulterated smile that only appeared next to you, now on his features.

— “Are you sure?” You hug him a little tighter, your gaze focused on his perfect profile.

— He never really wanted to tell you when something was burdening him.

— Vida was always the type to shoulder everything alone, for the sake of those he loved.

— And yet, you knew. You knew what weighed down over his imaginary angel wings that at some point became tainted in soot and the darkness of death.

— He turns around, his warm stare and the crimson of his jacket, seemingly the only things still not devoid of color in this decaying world.

— “I am, now that you are here.” He whispers, with a kiss to your forehead.

— Vida is also the protective type (Tenn is too, if we consider how he acts towards Riku; in the same way he wants to keep his brother away from harm, he would do the same for his s/o, which applies to Vida as well).

— He doesn’t like it when you have to get involved in quarrels, and even less when you get hurt.

— The fate that awaits the unfortunate soul who ever dared to touch you in the first place… Well, let’s just say they’ll be begging for death soon enough.

— Feelings of guilt are not unusual guests in the strongest warrior on the surface’s mind either.

— For you to have to live like this… In absolute misery, quite literally fighting to stay alive every day… Vida just wishes, one day, district 12 could become a safe and happy place for you.

— Please, take his hands and comfort him in moments like this… No matter how deadly he can be in a fight, his soul is fine glass, the rose thorns enveloping it, a double edged blade, piercing his heart at the despair surrounding you.

— If it’s with you, however, Vida feels like blue skies are at the edge of his fingertips. The vivid gazes you send his way, all the sunshine he needs.

— He’ll find a better life for the two of you, and for his friends, he thinks, tightening his fingers around his poleaxe.

♡ SCHAU (Osaka Sogo)

“I’ll be there when the guns break out, ‘til the storm is over.”

— Schau, the apathetic and cold sniper of the Unity Order.

— To anyone else, he’d seem unapproachable, completely disinterested about everything happening around him. A conformist, if you will, as long as his peace and commodity are not disturbed.

— However, what most people don’t know, is the violet garden flowering on the other side of the icy waterfalls of his harsh stare.

— In the middle of that secret paradise, there was you.

— You, whose gentle fire melted the ice bullets lodged into his heart.

— By your side, the sharpshooter’s expressions became more noticeable, his lips tilting up in a rare crescent, often only seen on the sharpness of his precise shots.

— Schau might have held no regard for anything or practically anyone surrounding him, however, when it came to you, his blood pumped vigorously.

— His cool aura fell away, a rainbow of emotions gathering in whirlwinds ready to ride or die next to you.

— When it comes to romantic gestures, turns out the Unity Order’s marksman is quite the charmer.

— And without even trying.

— His touches just fluster you at the most unexpected moments.

— Like Vida, he is protective. Very protective (so, if anyone pursuing you is smart enough they’ll keep their distance. The guy carries a rifle around… I mean, I would not risk it.)

— Sometimes it’s one of his hands on the small of your back, as he escorts you to safety when he has training or duties to attend to. The way his touch lingers, hand hooking a little around your waist if anyone looks at you for too long, to let them know you’re taken… it makes your knees weak, butterflies spreading their wings in the pit of your stomach.

— On other occasions, were you to find yourselves under enemy fire, Schau shields you, one of his arms wrapped securely around your shoulders, pulling the two of you behind a wall.

— Using his other hand, he fires his rifle, taking down anyone who could ever pose a danger to you, no questions asked (he is very much like the actual Sogo in this aspect, you see).

— Honestly, it’d be pretty hard to fluster him.

— You’re his, so Schau just sees it as the most natural thing in the world to show these small (and a little possessive) affectionate gestures.

— However, when you return the actions, a warm feeling he hadn’t quite known before spreads through his chest.

— He likes it.

— He lives for those special moments with just you and him.

♡ KABANE (Iori Izumi)

“We knew this day was set long ago; and when the sharks smell the blood, they will all see it’s their own.”

— Smart, cautious and sharp, Kabane often lets out remarks laced in dark humor, regarding the regrets he holds for his immortality.

— If you happen to be a mortal, then his sorrow is infinitely more unbearable; condemned to endless wandering amongst the shadows of an underworld that won’t get to see your light anymore after you inevitably part.

— Thoughts of a future ominously nearing, compared to his centuries of existence, are enough to keep him awake at night.

— It doesn’t look like the moon will keep him any company down here.

— Rainy midnights are contained in the depths of his deep stare as he looks up at a solid sky.

— “Can’t sleep?” A voice he wishes would never be snuffed out asks, followed by the sound of light steps landing right by him.

— He lets out a breath, shoulders slumping. This isn't good, he isn’t being rational… Of course your paths will diverge someday but… that’s just how it’s bound to be.

— And he could never take that away from you, even if you’re the only thing that, right now, makes his existence bearable.

— “No, I guess I can’t.” He mumbles, to himself or to you, he is not entirely sure.

— You reply with a tender smile, scooting closer to him.

— “That makes two of us, then.” You rest your head on his shoulder; the lit torches, the closest thing to stars you could wish upon down here. “It’s hard to sleep when you’re not around, you know.”

— Those last words resonate in his mind like the chimes at midnight, as reality comes crashing down on him.

— There will come a day, when you will go your separate ways. What will it be like, when eternal sleep wraps their cloak of darkness around you forever? When an empty space is all that remains by his side?

— No, Kabane shakes his head. He can’t let such baleful thoughts take command of his mind.

— For as long as you’re here, he’ll protect you.

— He shrugs off his cape, wrapping it around you. You’re here with him; his coat, akin to a spell, making you invisible to the cold claws’ of the bitter end.

— At least, for a little longer; a lifetime to you, milliseconds to him.

Ah, the cruelty of the curse.

— If, on the other hand you’re immortal like him, then well, the withdrawn underworlder has at least one reason to not despise his existence so much.

— With you, the bleakness of the Underground lights up in colorful sparks, the glow of a thousand galaxies causing heat to rise to your partner’s cheeks, reflecting the colors you ignite inside his heart.

— Like the previous two boys, Kabane is pretty protective too. He’s always the one to patch up the bruises you get while exploring, his deft fingers delicate against your cheek as he disinfects the small cuts.

— His brow furrows in concern; no matter how much you insist that he needn’t tend to you like this, that your wounds will heal alone.

— You always love to pat his head in these instances, if only to see the cute blush that tints his pretty face.

— And honestly, eternity sounds very appealing to Kabane right now, if it means being on the receiving end of your tender affections.

♡ KUON (Nanase Riku)

“Our stories are past the horizon, we’re chasing the sun till we find them.”

Character(s): Kohachi Inugami x Tengu!Reader [gender not specified, can be seen as platonic or romantic]

Request(yes): Could you write kemono jihen Inugami x reader? Something like reader is new coworker in his office and she’s nice but always gets into trouble and he is really worried about that and one day just gets angry because she did that again. I wrote “she” cause it was easier for me but if you want it can be gender neutral.

Warning: Mentions of injury and anger management? Nothing angst, just some mention of Inugami’s anger.

Note: I honestly have not yet figure out how to write Inugami- but I hope this portrays him well!

Generally, Kohachi is a very relaxed and laid back person.

Despite him often being in a near-death situation with the kids, or even on his own, he seems to have always gain control and have the situation to turn to his favour.

Hence why it's hard for his worry to last for long.

That is, until you, a Tengu who decided to stay in the city and came to his office.

Your natural instinct are composed of general mischief and self-ego, one that at first, he tolerate quite easily. (Looking at Mihai who are also somewhat troublesome with his pride, but useful nonetheless.)

At first the relationship between you two are similar of his and Mihai,

You with your capable swordsmanship and him who keeps adding more and more orphan hybrid under his care.

Sure he trusted you with the kids, specifically Akira when his brother are away, but also Shiki and Kabane. Just to make sure those three doesn't do some weird investigation on their own.

But somehow, along the way, he started to realized that you too, is a problem magnet.

At first he thought it was just bad luck that you and the kids are having; but maybe, maybe not.

Though with your guilty facial expression and you boosting that you’re ‘fine’ each time he caught you coming home injured from another 'incident', he can't really tell anymore whether it's caused by your intentional mischief or your incredibly terrible luck.

But then it keeps happening again; with, or without the kids, it seems like trouble is always up on your wings.

Early time there isn't much damage inflicted on you and the kids, just some trouble that occurred in public that he's sure Inari manage to cover.

He scolds you all often, obviously. Kabane, Shiki and Akira, and not to forget you too, the one who's supposed to 'watch over the kids'.

Though it's hard to simply keep it as 'scolding' when every time it happens; your health is often at stake.

His patience was broken when you came home with bullet holes and small ice shards on the tips of your wings, along with a terrified Akira clinging to your side, supporting as you walk, injured.

You know; everyone who know Kohachi's nature as a bakedanuki would know of his anger when it comes down to it.

You were scared, obviously, by his aura alone. You’re old enough to sense when another kemono is angry.

Though you were thankful because he ordered Akira to immediately call Aya to come assist your injury.

He doesn't face you, you don't know whether it's because he doesn't want to lash out on you or because he feels guilt after seeing your injury. You can't tell, and perhaps, even he can't tell.

While the half-arache girl heals you, he had a talk with Akira about the situation.

He was angry, yes, even after knowing the reason behind your injury, he still is.

So he took a break from the office, giving temporary control over the agency to Mihai (but not in a way where he can mess with the kids again).

It could be that he's off to cooldown, or perhaps off to release the pent up frustration away from you and the kids, and everyone else in the city.

Or perhaps he would try investigate, find out, and deal with those who hurt you all by himself.

After all, no one wants to face the anger a Tanuki, right?

You has been in so many jobs lately you were barely home. A home you shared with three kemono kids, Inugami and kind of MIhai.

You usually didn't go out this often, most times you stayed home around noon to make lunch for the kids - sometimes it ended up being their dinner, but it was better than eating pizza everyday.

You also took care of their injuries - except for Kabane's - despite the many screams and protests from Akira whenever you would try to clean his scratches - he claimed it hurted a lot to clean it, but.... it needs to be done.

At times you also became the one they asked for hugs, not always sharing what was wrong, specially Shiki who would just appear out of nowhere mumble something and wait for head pats.

Kabane would often ask why you did those things or why Akira asked for hugs, but honestly? You had no good answer besides " sometimes, a hug is all you need to drive sadness away and give you strength!" You were not sure he got it.

BUt lately none of this is being possible. Your ability was requested by one job, but this single job became a chain event that needed you going around the city a lot.

After a tiresome 6 days going everywhere, you finally could go back home. You were pooped. You arrived quite late at night, all the kids were already asleep. Inugami had told you they were worried sick about you.

The man was the only one awake, besides Mihai. He greeted you whit a side grin when he saw how tired you were. You could see the place was a bit of a mess, a lot of take out boxes around, some of Akira's plushies forgotten in a corner - they were probably thrown during a fit of frustration by someone.

You sighed and slowly walked back to your room and to shower. Before you made it there, Inugami patted our head telling you did a good job. That made you smile you bit. but just a bit, you were too tired to actually smile.

The next day you woke up at the same time as the kids - not too early, not too late in the morning. They were super happy to see you!

Akira hugged you tightly, Shiki nervously stood near you asking a million questions about your job and Kabane was awkwardly asking if you were hurt and if you would stay around more.

You reassured the kids that you were fine and there were no jobs in sight. But you also noticed how they didn't seem to buy the " i am fine bit".

You decided to go back to your normal routine by going groceries shopping. Inugami offered to go in your instead, but you gently declined - the lack of food, spicies and many other things was driving you crazy.

While you were at it you received a few texts from the kids asking you to find some very especific stuff like a x flavour of ketchup or a y brand. A bit odd you thought. But ok, they must have ordered something with this especific kind of things and now they were addicted to it, which wasn't uncommon to them.

Thanks to these extra requests you took a lot longer than expected. When you were heading back, you met Inugami half way home. He commented something about checking if the job was real when he ran into you.

He also offered to carry half of the bags you had on you. This time you gladly accepted the offer.

Upon getting home, the Tanuki opened the door for you and gestured for you go in first. You felt like something was odd, not like he wouldn't do this kind of things for you, but... something in the air was fishy.

You took a few steps inside and soon you saw a big cake on the table and a small envelope next to it. While you look surprised at it, you didn't even hear the footsteps that approached you. Suddenly a burst of loud voices calling your name and saying " welcome home" filled in the room.

You couldn't help but smile at the scene. Akira was talking about the cake, Kabane took your bags while Shiki gave you the envelope. You couldn't help but giggle.

They have gotten your favourite cake! Inside the envelope was a ticket to a movie you wanted to watch for sometime, but lost the premier date sue to the last job.

You beamed a very beautiful smile and thanked all of them. Inugami also added on that everyone was going to the movies - the kids wanted you to spend some time relaxing, but he knew how much you liked spending time with them. Thus he got everyone a ticket!

Upon that announcement a lot of excited noises came from Akira and Shiki. Kabane remained confused as to why that would be that fun - for him being with everyone was already good enough!

After eating the cake you resumed your daily activities of your normal routine - which you could see everyone missed, maybe except for Mihai, who complained that there was a lot of noise.

You had a big smile for a the whole day and this didn't go unnoticed. Shiki looked prideful for making you smile, Akira was very very happy to see you smiling so brightly again and having your hugs on demand. Now, Kabane was the one who voiced the change:

" It's been a while since saw you smile like this, Y/N-san. It looks a lot more... better."

Akira corrected him on the spot:

" He means beautifully. "

You saw Shiki face palming at them and you just laughed at the boys quarrels.

You were so happy to be back home.
