Chronic shipper brain disease aside, my greatest hope for the HD re-releases of AJ, DD, and SoJ is that it reels in some more naruodo enjoyers / tolerators.
Not shippers, per say (although that would be nice), but at least people who see their fun broken-but-then-mended hero worship dynamic across all three games,
look at the fan art and fan fics made about it, and go, “It may not be my thing, but I get the appeal,” instead of picking up their metaphorical pitchforks because of an 11-year age difference between two unrelated adults who met as adults.

Urusei Yatsura 'One Step' the Squad characters design
They're not really "wow" design, not really that much change except they wearing different clothes and Lum is human sgsgs
I scatered this squad. We can see Lum isn't in same school with the others. While Ataru actually join online school but he always skip it lmao, he thinks Why he need to study anyway? And yea this man is lazy.
Why only Ataru and Lum have game persona? Because Shinobu doesn't play it again while Mendou never touch any game because how busy he is with his family stuff and all so yea. Kinda sacrifice the adventure with them together for the plot 😔
I do planned to draw more of the characters that have yet appear in this au. Maybe. Probably.
So for now I guess I give you little info about them:
Ataru and Lum
Well ofc they're main protagonist, we already know their summary and roles in this au. The story still early so its more focused on their game persona and some bit with their real self in prolog.
They both even though already shared IDs and play game together, they never meet each others. This is one of plot that will be important later for the story.
The disease that Ataru suffers from is a disease that is difficult to cure and he has suffered since childhood, idk because its fiction should I name the disease. Just to be clear he is sick.
Shinobu and Mendou
Mendou has yet appear in this au, he did get mentioned and don't worry he will join the squad.
Shinobu always visit Ataru for time to time, fun fact she date Ataru for a week back then and they broke up because it doesn't work and stay as friends again. There's also Kosuke who always visit Ataru too, he will appear before Mendou later.
Shinobu and Mendou are dance partners after Ataru doesn't active again so Shinobu need to change partner.

Trying to brainstorm Tokyo Ghoul inspired Monster High dolls. Thinking 5/6 main ghouls inspired by TG characters (they would all be femme/girl dolls. I don’t like the boy dolls as much and when i make custom dolls of this they would NOT be boys)
What characters would the main group and what monsters do u guys think they would be?
I’ve got Kaneki (duh), Touka, Shuu (:DDDDD) and Rize but idk who would be good for 1-2 other main dolls???? Idk. For monster types i was thinking maybe Kaneki as the Frankie-type, Shuu as plant-monster type (like Venus), Touka as a werewolf and Rize as a vampire but idk. (Don’t say shuu would be a vampire bc the flower monster is right there!!!!!!!!!)
Anyway. I’m just engaging in the arts and crafts cringe equivalent of a plot bunny. Don’t take this too seriously. But making TG/MH art or customs is something I’d wanna do srsly tbh

THATS NOT HOW LANGUAGE WORKS#not that i am even an 'expert' but still#[man gripping sink voice] i don't need interesting linguistic worldbuilding in every book i read. i don't. i do not#books#my posts#talking to my scientist friends about the martian they were so annoyed by the science. whereas i was having a grand old time#the thing that annoyed me most about the martian was how all these world governments banded together to spend billions#of dollars just to rescue one measly astronaut? there's asking me to suspend disbelief and then there's whatever that was.#this book also features a lot of international cooperation at an unrealistic scale but it has a better excuse#so i'll allow it#i'm still having fun i do find his books eminently readable i just. sir please talk to one (1) conlanger i'm begging you#there are aspects where i'm like okay i can see how you needed to fudge that to get anywhere with your plot#but there are other aspects where i'm like hey you actually could have made this part less inaccurate. and didn't for no reason. boo!

the thing that helps me sometimes wrt numbers brain is that the most popular fic isn’t actually gonna be the best fic, pretty much ever, bc the things people gravitate toward are the things that appeal to the largest number of people instead of the sort of weird offbeat passion projects i frequently throw myself at. the things that do numbers are bigger fandoms and popular ships and (often) watered down characterizations or popular tropes, none of which is what i really enjoy doing ninety percent of the time.
#what are my most popular fics you may well ask?#o/f/m/d by a long shot.#then a t/a/a/kitz fic from AGES ago when t:b was winding down#then a very fanon-compliant jason fic.#then a very fanon-compliant j/o/y/fire fic.#and i like all of these fics a reasonable amount. they’re fine.#BUT.#they aren’t the ones i go back and reread all the time.#those ones are the ones that are more personalized and particular to Me.#even in blaseball like. the most popular ones are the ones that comply with popular lore.#and if i were to go in and rework them it would be to make them Weirder and Less Palatable#bc then i would be more fond of the actual content of them#of course that’s not always true. im still baffled by the reception to the scorekeeper fic and various other weird projects#looks at margeese pointedly#but like. those are outliers in the broader spectrum of my works.#idk im just rambling#point is i tend to fall around 30-40 kudos regardless of fandom#and that’s in part bc 1) smaller fandoms 2) less popular ships 3) secondary or tertiary characters 4) in a weird plot#and it’s GREAT it’s so fun to do#okay I’m done that’s it#tam.exe

i need to write so bad
#but if i don’t sufficiently plan my writing will be bad and i’ll get bogged down and stop#i can sometimes wing it but it’s a mystery story. not very wingable#i mean what i actually need to do is sleep. alas i am rotating characters in my mind#sometimes the planning is fun. i’m enjoying the worldbuilding bits#love creating insane pseudoreligions and culty groups#and the magic system has been ready to go for ages now#i’m happy with the characters too!! imported a couple from my unfinished nano project and it’s made everything much easier to deal with#it’s literally just piecing together the plot and pacing and figuring out what needs foreshadowing where that’s tearing me apart#’write a mystery book’ i said ‘it’ll be fun’ i said. i don’t hate it in all fairness#it’s just proving much harder to plot than anything else i’ve written. let’s call it a learning curve#writing tag

i'm bad at watching shows but i'm interested in their characters/plots so i've decided to try and guess canon based off of reading a bunch of fanfics. so far i don't think i'm very close because it's something my sister has watched and the characters i keep reading about are like. the sidest of all side characters. but i will find canon somewhere
#i cannot sit down and watch something i can cook and listen to something i can draw and listen but i cannot sit and watch#so i am bad at the tv shows#but words i can get into#they should like. convert shows into words so i can read them instead#which is why i have chosen fanfiction#you may wonder why i chose fanfiction of all things? surely there's a summary?#well u see i believe it is much more entertaining to uncover canon through different interpretations of characters and how they're explored#and tbh i care more about characters in these cases than the plot. though i love plot i'm just more interested in characterization#bc plot is good and all but if you're characters suck then no-one cares#and in fanfiction people often play with characterization and explore them in ways that can go beyond canon#i'm trying to find the heart of these characters based on the way people write them#and even when characters are heavily changed for an au there will have to have been something to inspire that change#and i must decide if it's projection from the author or coincidental or there is a deep-seated reason that that character was altered#and i besides reading fanfic where you have no idea what's going on is pretty fun ngl#obviously i will need to read a lot of fanfic for sample size or whatever but i will get there and then i will double-check w my sister#to see how correct i can get it#she's more of a casual enjoyer of things so idk if my characterization focus will resonate or not but eh idc

ngl i kinda hate how fate in every aspect where emiya can excel as a servant is always snubbed or nerfed. would you all be mad at me if i went canon divergent and buffed him ^_^

the story doesn't start with the beginning or the end, the story starts with the moments that spark it. the story starts with that idea you had that made you want to sit down and write, the story starts with the moment the characters have that branches out and out, blooms into so many different choices and paths and conversations. it's okay if you don't know how to begin or how to end or even if you don't know what the story wants. just write the moments. follow them and see where they lead.

lila/tanya is. first of all a severely underrated ship but second of all perpetually funny to me because i always picture it in one of two ways, those ways being "seriously angsty enemies to lovers that may or may not also involve william in some way" or "lila has an existential gay crisis because she's never had a crush on anyone before and it's on the ONE girl she's decided to have a (probably one-sided tbh) rivalry with and that's terrible. for her at least. everyone else thinks it's kinda funny"
