Had the thought of Joel smallishbeans hels being almost like a version of narcissus or some other Greek hero. He's tall, almost too tall, he's handsome, almost too handsome. He's often spoken about like he's a gift from the gods, but it's a death sentence. Respect turns to jealously quickly in hels after all
Hels!Joel is Junji Ito's Tomie confirmed?
No but I do really like this Narcissus/Adonis style paragon of beauty and perfection, and he is doomed to walk a fine line between needing attention to thrive, and too much attention inevitably leading to downfall. It's like when Hamlet recognizes he's in a tragedy, but he has the will to break the fourth wall and fight it. He can't fully predict how everyone else will act though, and will always have mixed success. Doomed By The Narrative vibes in a self aware character who's trying to beat the allegations.

Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared is a Roald Dahl story for adults and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a Junji Ito story for kids. Agree or disagree?
Disagree - Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is incredibly critical of authority figures and favors disobedient children, which isn't very Dahl-esque to me. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is in the slasher movie mold despite predating them, while Junji Ito's stuff is much more cosmic horror, even when the premise is seemingly simple.
