I needed an excuse for this one ☺️ so thank you, anon, for this req.

When Eli finds out his partner is pregnant, he's starstruck. He looks like he's just been told he's the most famous, richest, and loved man alive - and that's pretty much how he feels too. He is 100% smitten with his partner all over again as if it's the first time they've kissed or said I love you for the first time.

He's very excited, getting way ahead of himself as he talks about room preparations and not knowing any good baby names. Once he's calmed down - after an hour or two - he sits with his partner, one arm around them while his opposite hand lays over their belly. Just knowing their lil baby is in there fills his chest with all the warm feelings.

However, at night he worries a lot. His thoughts wander and get the better of him. Being born with a cleft lip and growing up with a surgery scar takes a whole new toll on him. He worries about whether or not his kid will be born with a cleft. He fucked up by researching the risks, which only sent him into a small spiral. He lays in bed beside his beautiful/handsome partner, holding their curves and rubbing their belly (that isn't even showing yet) and worrying about whether or not their baby will have a cleft lip or palate.

In the meantime, he's staying by his partner's side as much as humanly possible while also giving them the space they need. He's a bit of a worrier in those first few months of pregnancy, but does everything in his power to hide that.

He gives in to food cravings very easily. He can't help it, especially if his partner uses the "but it's what the baby wants" excuse. He's pouring chocolate sauce onto potato chips like it's nothing. And no, he is not going to try any of the weird food combos, no matter how curious he might be.

He feels so guilty when his partner goes through bouts of morning sickness or their body gets achy. When their breasts get sore, he offers to give them a gentle massage to help. Same goes for their shoulders to help get some of the tension out of them. He's so good at it, and his hands- fuck, his hands.

When it's time to go to ultrasound appointments, he's always going to make time for them. He doesn't care about whatever else is going on, he's going to go to those appointments no matter what. He loves to see the shape of the baby on the screen and he's smiling the entire time. He's so overjoyed and he cannot put it into words.

When they were far along enough in the pregnancy, he asks to have a 3D scan done to see if the baby had a cleft. Up until that point, he's kept his fears a secret from his partner because he never wanted to worry them, though they are already well aware of the risks. So when the topic of the 3D scan comes up, everyone is on the same page.

He holds his partner's hand through the whole process, watching the doctor with baited breath as they do their thing. When they tell the parents-to-be that the baby is developing just fine, no signs of a cleft anywhere, he feels extremely relieved. It's not that he wouldn't have loved or thought of his child any different if they had a cleft, but he never wants his child to go through what he went through - the looks, the whispers, the bullying. So he teared up with the relief when he got the news.

As for the nursery, he goes for an animal theme. He transforms the room he and his partner picked out for the nursery into a zoo. Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), but also plenty of hawks, falcons, and eagles. Sock monkeys and pillows that look like sloths. The room is green with jungle leaves painted on the walls, all the furniture a deep mahogany. The toys and other decorations give it pops of other colors.

When the baby gets restless, he reads to them. Sometimes it's a baby book, other times it's whatever he's in the middle of. From time to time, he picks up one of his favorite comics and reads it to them, adding the extra details the pictures give. Sometimes he does voices for the characters and sound effects, amusing himself and his partner, as well as their little one.

He already couldn't keep his hands off of his partner before, but now it's 10x worse. He loves having a hand on their belly at all times. He puts his arm around their waist when they walk or holds their hand (while also carrying anything they might have brought with them, like a purse or bag). At home, he's handsy, running his hands up their side or over their ass when he walks by. He loves seeing the way their body changes with pregnancy and shows it in those touches.

Eli loves making out while they sit and cuddle. His hand is always on their belly when they kiss. He's so passionate and soft for them, but he can't even try to hide it or act normal when they're so close.

He also gets a little turned on whenever they're changing or doing the most mundane thing ever. He'll be nearby, watching and licking his lips as he takes in the godly figure before him. There's no way for him to hide that either, not that he was ever trying. He wants them to know how hot he thinks they are, especially if they have some insecurities surrounding the way their body has changed.

Presses his hard-on against their ass and tells them, "Babe, you were hot before, and now... you're still fucking gorgeous."

When his partner's belly is huge and heavy, he does the thing where he lifts the weight off of them and lets them rest against his chest. He's lean but strong, so he can stand there holding their belly up for a good 35 to 45 minutes. It's literally a weight off of their back and he's more than happy to do often.

However, expect him to say something like "I've got my whole world in my hands right now" while he does it.

As it gets closer to his partner's due date, he's surprisingly calm. He's already got the car seat installed and secured; the nursery is complete and there's plenty of diapers, wipes, etc; the hospital bag is ready to go. Everything leading up to that moment has prepared him, as well as some advice from his mom that he keeps in mind as the days dwindle down.

Unfortunately, the baby chooses to take their sweet ass time and ends up overdue, which makes him feel guilty all over again. But of course it would be his baby that's a stubborn lil thing. (but birth hcs like that deserve their own list lol.)

Nine-months of excitement - happy family au

If anyone where to ask Macaque what Wukong’s pregnancy was like he’d say it was like ‘nine months of excitement.’ However, not all of it was as peachy perfect as he made it out to seem and both him and Wukong know that.

Anyone can tell you that when trying for a baby it isn’t always easy and can take some time. Macaque and Wukong both knew this when starting to try but they couldn’t help but be hopeful, however, eventually that hopeful attitude runs out.

It had been maybe a year, possibly longer, since Wukong had mended his relationship with his older brother and soon after that they had finished the nursery for their long awaited baby. Wukong had actually let Macaque painted the walls himself. He wanted the baby to know it’s home from the day they were born so Macaque hand painted a mural that flows across all four walls of the nursery, showing the mountain where Wukong was born, the snowy mountain tops where Macaque is from, the beautiful, vibrant jungles and lastly the golden beaches of their island home. Macaque really hopes their baby likes it.

Meanwhile Wukong chose out all the furniture and when he couldn’t find a crib that was good enough for his baby he decided to just make one himself. He chopped down the tree, prepped the wood and carved it (Macaque couldn’t keep his eyes off Wukong when he carried back the wood over his shoulders while wearing a sleeveless shirt). When the crib is done Macaque helps carry it into the nursery and they both admire it. The front is simple wooden bars but the back is solid wood with a curved top that has what looks like carved vines and flowers following it and a blank space in the centre, “why did you leave this blank?” Macaque asks curiously which makes Wukong smiles like he was hoping Macaque would ask that before saying “I was hoping to carve our baby’s name into it once they’re born.” Macaque stares at Wukong with so much adoration because how can someone not love this gorgeous and thoughtful god.

The nursery is decorated with other objects of course; they have toys (Wukong even carved a few from some extra wood), clothes and Macaque didn’t forget that kind woman’s advice so they have many warm and soft blankets. They also got a bassinet that can be easily moved into their bedroom because Wukong suspects Macaque won’t let they’re baby out of his sight once he’s born because he’s taken to the habit of pressing his ear up to Wukong’s none existent baby belly at night.

The completed nursery makes them feel actually ready to start trying and Macaque is more than… enthusiastic to be trying for a baby. However, after a year of trying Wukong still isn’t pregnant and he’s starting to get worried. Maybe he’s just being paranoid but he truly did try to make a baby by infusing a rock with his magic but it never worked and maybe that was the universe’s way of telling him he can’t have a baby. He doesn’t want to mention it to Macaque because his husband was still so happy at the prospect of having a baby and was trying his best.

He honestly feels like the universe is punishing him for his years of being an absolute brat but when he’s laying in bed while his husband snuggles up to his back and kisses his neck he can’t be sad, he’s just frustrated with himself. When him and Macaque first got married neither of them were ready to have a baby and agreed that if one where to appear they’d take the necessary steps to… Wukong wouldn’t use the words ‘get rid’ but in his opinion it’s better than saying stuff like ‘da tai’ and ‘xia tai’ but let's just say some tea and medication would be involved. However, now that they both want a baby to appear Wukong just can’t do his stupid job; Macaque is doing his so why can’t his uterus get the memo?!

The other mothers on the island tell him it will happen in time but Wukong is not known for his patience so he goes to someone he hopes will be able to help. Plus, his dear sister-in-law is a lot more hospitable now that DBK is back and doesn’t mind the help with Redson.

Wukong bounces the little baby on his lap and smiles as the little one coos at him before looking up at PIF who is practically melting into the chair now that she can relax. He takes a deep breath before asking “how long did it take for you to become pregnant?” PIF rubs at her eyes tiredly while sitting up before mumbling “we didn’t exactly plan Redson… I was just late and then nine months later he appeared… why do you ask?” Wukong is definitely nervous and is trying to stop himself from fidgeting by grooming through Redson’s hair as he says “me and Macaque have been trying for possibly over a year and I’m still not pregnant… I’m worried I’m doing something wrong or that… something is wrong with me.” PIF seems a little more awake after that and gives Wukong a sympathetic look, “I’m sorry but if I know Macaque and you I’m sure your not doing anything wrong but if you need… help; there was a potion I use to drink which helped to fix my cycle but had the added side effect of also improving my fertility.”

Wukong gets the recipe and thanks PIF emphatically before flying off home to brew the potion; it’s a very simple one which he’s thankful for and he manages to get it done before Macaque gets home. He’s just downed the tea when his husband slides up behind him and wraps his arms around him before kissing Wukong’s shoulder, “how are you doing, my beautiful gem?” Wukong leans into his husband’s embrace while purring before turning around and kissing Macaque passionately which a surprised Macaque happily accepts. Wukong’s threads his hands through Macaque’s hair while trying to subtlety pull Macaque towards their bedroom or the sofa, he isn’t that picky. However, before they get there Macaque pulls away from the kiss and while out of breath huffs “why the sudden interest? You haven’t seemed as up for trying recently which is okay but… I don’t want you to force yourself just because I want it.” Wukong brushes back Macaque’s hair and gives him one last kiss before saying teasingly “I’m not forcing myself, you just look very handsome today”, Macaque looks a little unconvinced so Wukong says “I. Want. To. Do. This… now, sofa or bed?”

After that Wukong feels a lot more hopeful and takes the potion every month like PIF suggests but it doesn’t take long before Wukong’s period is late. He’s still nervous and doesn’t say anything to Macaque for the first couple of days, or the first week, or the second but once it’s been a month he can’t hold it in anymore. So, Macaque wakes up to Wukong on top of him looking like the cat that got the cream and originally he thought it was going in a different direction but then Wukong finally tells him, “I’m pregnant!”

The entire island was buzzing with excitement at the news of a royal baby on the way but no one is more excited than Macaque and Wukong. Everything is in order and all they have to do now is wait which isn’t exactly fun.

Wukong can deal with the sleepless nights, he’s been haunted with far too many throughout his long life, and the aches aren’t fun but the morning sickness hits him the worse. Macaque often wakes up to the sound of Wukong throwing up in a bucket they keep next to the bed; trying to be a supportive husband he’ll rub circles into his back and bring him water which Wukong appreciates. However, after Wukong starts to show his personality takes a very hard punch and Macaque would say the mood swings were the worse part.

Around the third month Wukong is getting changed like he normally does while his husband lounges on their bed next to him when Macaque says “you have a baby belly!” He sounds shocked and excited but Wukong is just confused; he looks down at himself but can’t see anything different so he turns to Macaque for answers, “what do you mean? I’m not showing yet.” Macaque has a huge smile on his face as he pulls Wukong over to the floor mirror they moved into the corner of their room (Wukong jokes that Macaque is like a bird, constantly preening his feathers) before smoothing his hands over Wukong’s stomach to show that, yes, he has a baby bump. Wukong is in absolute awe as he rests his hands over Macaque’s, it’s a barely noticeable baby bump but it’s there, and Wukong couldn’t be happier as he bends his neck to look up at his husband, “I have a baby bump!”

After that the mood swings kick in which Macaque can deal with at first; the sudden switch from being insanely happy at some snacks to yelling at the book he’s reading. However, then his mood swings get aimed towards Macaque for better or worse. When Wukong is happy he’s practically glued to Macaque’s side; giving him all the kisses and cuddles Macaque could ever want but when he’s angry Macaque decides hiding is the best plan of action. Once when Wukong was particularly angry he had started yelling at Macaque and when Macaque said Wukong was being irrational (which was not a smart idea) Wukong picked up a side table like it weighed the same as a feather before chucking it at Macaque’s head, luckily he managed to sink into the shadows before any real damage was done.

Macaque kept away from the stone mansion for awhile but when he finally summons the courage to walk back vines gently wrap around his legs; not strong enough to stop him but almost like they were trying to apologise with tiny hugs. Macaque opens the door to the mansion and instantly can hear Wukong crying so, of course, he sprints towards the sound to find Wukong sat on the floor in the kitchen while eating red bean buns, “gem… is something wrong? Did something happen?!” He slides over to Wukong on his knees and cups his husband’s face which has tears streaming down his cheeks and red bean paste in the corner of his mouth. Macaque wipes away the bean paste with his sleeve before gently rubbing away the tears with his thumb, “beloved, what happened… you’re making me worried?”

Wukong hiccups before wrapping his arms around Macaque’s neck and snuggles into his shoulder, mumbling “I hate being pregnant.” Macaque shushed him gently while bringing Wukong as close as possible, being cautious of Wukong’s growing belly, “if this is about our fight it’s okay; I know the pregnancy is putting you a little on edge and honestly I’m okay if you need to yell sometimes but maybe no more throwing stuff, at least not at me.” Wukong pulls back so he can kiss Macaque before sobbing “I’m so sorry, I- I’m not like that anymore but these stupid hormones keep making me so emotional! I won’t throw anything again and- and I won’t yell at you… I’m gunna get mad sometimes and I might yell but I promise it won’t be at you.” Macaque leans forward and gently kisses Wukong forehead before nuzzling his nose against Wukong’s.

After that Wukong does his best to control his outbursts and Macaque can see he’s trying but sometimes he encourages Wukong to yell because he can tell his gem needs it. However, once Wukong enters his 3rd trimester he gets far too tired to be throwing furniture or even yelling, all he wants is for Macaque to rub his feet then give him cuddles and kisses.

It’s all wonderful for Macaque but recently when Wukong looks in the mirror he feels like he’s the size of a whale. He’s started to get ugly stretch marks that taught him everytime he looks in the mirror and eventually it gets to the point where he can’t stand it anymore and covers all the mirrors with blankets which Macaque couldn’t help but notice.

He brings it up to Wukong while they’re snuggled up on the sofa. Wukong is eating some peaches while giggling at the book he’s reading and his tail is thumping on the sofa happily so Macaque thinks now is the best time. He links their tails together which gets Wukong’s attention and when he looks up from his book he sees Macaque staring down at him lovingly, “mmmm why are you looking at me like that?” Macaque purrs while nudging Wukong’s head with his before saying “I just think you look especially gorgeous today… and I’m confused why you wouldn’t want to see yourself.” Wukong huffs in annoyance while struggling to sit up because of how big his stomach had gotten, “I should’ve known you had some alternative motive.” Macaque tries to reach out for Wukong’s hand but Wukong pulls his hand away while growling, “don’t act like you’re still attractive to me, I’ve see you looking at my stomach! We both know I look hideous like this!”

Macaque is almost frozen in shock at that but before Wukong can stand up he jumps into action and pulls Wukong back down onto the sofa, “Of course I’m still attracted to you! You’re my husband and currently carrying our child! You’ve never been more beautiful to me… except maybe on our wedding day… or after we had are first kiss… or maybe even when we first met, but that doesn’t matter!” Wukong chuckles at his husband’s rambling and even blushes a little; he could stop him now because he gets the point but listening to his husband go on and on about how beautiful he thinks Wukong is does help his self esteem. After about 15 minutes of Macaque trying to convince Wukong that he’s beautiful Wukong stops him by simply holding up his hand and saying “okay… I believe you but I’m still not really comfortable with how my body has changed.”

Macaque nods in understanding before leaning forward and kissing Wukong but when he pulls away he just can’t help himself because Wukong has little sparkles in his eyes and is smiling, so happy that Macaque is still attracted to him, he just couldn’t stop himself from going back for more and kissing Wukong passionately. Slowly, he slides his hand down Wukong’s side before landing on the small of Wukong’s back; bringing him close before asking smugly “so, sofa or bed?”

(He gets a soft punch in the arm for taking Wukong’s line but Macaque regrets nothing.)

As his due date comes closer and closer Wukong starts to prepare his nest for the birth; filling it with pillows and blankets till it was like sleeping on a cloud. Once that was done he drags Macaque into the room they decided to use for the birth with the nest in the centre and pushes Macaque toward it, confused Macaque says “it’s a very nice nest.” Wukong growls in annoyance before huffing “I didn’t bring you here to admire it, I want it to smell like you so get in it!” Macaque blinks a few times before asking “and how exactly am I supposed to do that?” Wukong puts his hand on his back and leans on it until he hears a pop, his pregnancy belly starting to give him some back problems, before grumbling “I don’t know try rolling around in it.” He thought that would be the end of it but then Macaque smirks and slides close to Wukong before teasingly saying “I have an idea of how to spread both our scent on it.”

Wukong is heavily pregnant at this point and has zero interest in that so he gives Macaque a glare before pushing him forwards again. Sadly, Macaque rolls around in the nest with his arms crossed like a pouting child which makes Wukong laugh but it does make the nest smells just like Macaque and after seeing how happy it made Wukong he decides the embarrassing technique was worth it.

When Wukong finally goes into labour it’s later on in the day just after him and Macaque had finished dinner. He felt the painful jabs in his abdomen but had mostly ignored it because he’s had plenty of aches and pains throughout his pregnancy but when they kept coming back he starts to get concerned and asks Macaque to go get PIF. She had basically become his midwife and had answered any questions he had so hopefully she’d be able to help him. Macaque seems a little hesitant to go but two older, demon monkeys who are mothers themselves come in and help their king to stand, “I’ll be fine… just go get PIF, please.” His husband quickly kisses Wukong’s forehead before sinking into the ground and racing through the shadows towards the Demon Bull family home. However, almost as soon as he’s gone Wukong feels water start to trickles down his legs and dread creeps up his spin.

His water just broke.

He takes deep breaths and lets the mother monkeys lead him to the birthing room; Macaque will be back soon with PIF so he has nothing to worry about.

He definitely had something to worry about because Macaque can’t keep away from trouble even if he tried. He’s thankful that the sun had finally set, casting the world in shadows, because it meant he could quickly slither across the ground and he was making good time when something stabbed his leg and pinned him to the floor. In panic Macaque desperately tries to pull his leg free but when that doesn’t work he looks around trying to figure out a way to escape. The clearing in the woods he’s found himself in is covered in shadows the stars above him are twinkling brightly like they’re trying to taught him but there’s no way to escape.

Macaque takes a closer look at the spear sticking in his leg, his ears fluttering curiously as his eyes glow a brighter purple, when Erlang storms into the clearing while barking “heaven demands you, six-eared Macaque, tell us your plan?!” To say Macaque is confused would be an understatement and when he doesn’t give an answer Erlang steps on Macaque’s shoulder, further pinning his, “first Wukong releases the Demon Bull king then we here word that he’s joined leagues with you once again and is apparently pregnant! So what is Wukong’s plan? Is he forming an army to go against heaven, once again?” Macaque shakes his head with is hard to do when you’re 2D before saying adamantly “we’re not planning anything! DBK is Wukong’s brother and Wukong missed him dearly so he freed him and we wanted to start a family! Heaven has nothing to do with it!”

Macaque is still trying to wriggle free desperately, dragging his claws through the dirt to try and claw his way free, because his husband needs PIF and the quicker he gets to her the better but Erlang just scoffs at his explanation, “please! I’m begging you! Something is wrong with Wukong and he asked me to get PIF! I just want my husband and cub to be okay!” That seems to at least get a more empathetic response out of Erlang and he grabs his spear while leaning down, growling “if I find out you’re lying I will personally be responsible for taking your working eye.” Macaque is shocked at the threat but when Erlang lifts his spear he’s brought back into the moment and gladly slithers away from the homicidal maniac.

When he appears in the demon bull family’s living room DBK shatters the glass he’s holding while letting out a hushed curse which makes Redson laugh as he sits on his father’s lap. He looks around for PIF in a panic and the princess quickly rushes to his side because Macaque looks like a mess. There’s dirt under his claws and he’s panting like a dog sat in the summer heat, “what is wrong six-ears? Is something wrong with Wukong?” Macaque nods frantically as he squeezes PIF’s hands, “husband, look after Redson!”

Macaque would teleport them back but because his shadow form got injured he’s not sure if he’d land them in the right place so they have to fly back which is not a short trip. They rush into the mansion and can hear Wukong groaning in pain which does nothing to help calm Macaque’s anxieties. Wukong is sat, hunched over, in the birthing nest but reaches out to Macaque when he sees him stood in the doorway, “where the hell have you been?! It’s been 4 hours, usually you’re back in under 2!” Macaque kisses Wukong’s forehead while slicking back his hair as PIF urges Wukong to sit up straight, “I got into some trouble.”

It takes another 3 hours but eventually the little one is born, just as the sun started to peak over the horizon, and Wukong isn’t going to lie he was happy it was over. However, he was even happier when PIF hands over the screaming cub and announces it’s a boy.

Once the little one is in Wukong’s arms he grabs tiny handfuls of Wukong’s fur and begins to cling. He’s still covered in some blood and other fluids but Wukong just can’t get over the shock of finally holding the tiny creature that’s been kicking him every night for the last 3 months. He brushes through his son’s black fur and chuckles when he grazes the little one’s ears, which he has four of, and they flutter just like Macaque’s. Wukong thinks his son is adorable but is a tad annoyed he turned out to be practically a clone of Macaque, however, when he turns and sees the complete awe on his husband’s face he decides it was worth it, “what do you want to call him?”

Macaque’s eyebrows knit together in thought which makes Wukong chuckle wearily as exhaustion finally starts to kick in. The light from the sunrise slowly crosses the room and covers the baby and Wukong in a golden glow, sparking an idea.

“What about Xiaotian… our little sunlight?”

so obviously babies only need a safe place to sleep diapers of some sort food and some love yknow. but i have a fun, maximalist decorated house so ive been enjoying kitting out the nursery esp since I’m strictly goodwill/value village for baby clothes. (I don’t know why you’d do otherwise. The most expensive it gets at value village is $1.98. I found a bamboo onesie at goodwill for $1.50 that retails for $38 doll hairs. Insanity. They have blow outs and spit ups and grow exponentially.)

anyway my nursery theme is jungle and grey/green colors. I already had a lot of leaf art, it’s easy to thrift and create a bunch of animal themed stuff, and i like animals. Grey as neutral to help with the inevitable clutter and brightness of kid stuff and because im a millennial. The bathroom closest to the nursery/ kid bedroom has always been “what if you took the usual ocean themed bathroom but instead of seashells and the beach it was forty leagues under the sea with epic naval battles and large krakens” so that whimsy is already taken care of and kid-approved. but the bedroom is gonna be animals, zoo animals, safari animals, whatever.

Anyway. We were gifted this very cute sheet set from target. Animal themed, named “two by two” because i think it might lowkey be a Noah’s ark reference but my atheist ass cant really care since there’s no proverbs or big boats on it, just little zebras and such. And i really wanted to get a changing pad cover in the same print. Unfortunately it’s sold out! So i just turned on the notif for restock. And guys. Guys.

What the fuck is wrong with target.

They keep dropping this changing pad cover like they’re Beyoncé tickets. I get an alert its back in stock and i guess the fucking target factory makes one (1) single ass changing pad cover to sell. And it sells out instantly. It is driving me CRAZY. Do i need this changing pad cover??? No. Of course not. It’s not a necessity. I have other prints on my registry, yknow. Plain greys and monstera leaf prints because my ass will perpetually be stuck in 2015 and earlier. But I NEED to get this changing pad cover. I need to buy it. I need to fucking buy it and rate it one star on the target website and go why the fuck did you people do this to me and what i imagine are a bunch of other pregnant people waiting for this stupid ass changing cover drop while we’re pissing every hour and our backs hurt and our last two braincells are rubbing together like the squeaky pickles in SpongeBob. In terms of redecoration - the living room was made a lot cosier and more cohesive (no more random stuff from the student times).

The nursery got a forest/jungle theme - so Liam is forced to love animals ;) And I am convinced that the next expansion pack will be African/jungle themed there are just too many lions, elephants, monkeys and sloths in the decorations and clothing patterns to ignore (and it kind of fits with that world picture they teased during the sims summit - the one that isn’t San Sequoia).

Wonderful Top 7's

Top 7 Walt Disney World Queues (a.k.a. Where You Wait In Line P.S I Am Counting Interactive Elements And Pre-Shows)

#7: Pirates of the Caribbean: Pirates of the Caribbean is a pretty iconic ride and as a bonus, it comes with a pretty iconic queue. You wind your way through a dilapidated Spanish fort with cannons, dungeons, and skeletons while George Bruns' Pirates Overture plays in the background granting a sense of whimsy and intrigue to the setting. All before you reach the boat loading station set under a starry sky with a pirate ship floating in the background. Great stuff and it even comes fully air-conditioned which is certainly a plus.

#6: Star Tours: To put it simply, this queue oozes Star Wars fanservice and fun all throughout. You start off winding through a movie set of Endor before heading into a large area with your ride vehicle alternating instances of R2-D2 and C-3PO performing diagnostics while bantering and travel videos for locations throughout the Star Wars galaxy. Then you ascend several ramps containing more hilarious banter from droid security from reaching the pre-show. It's almost disappointing that it goes by so fast due to the ride's large capacity (almost).

#5: Peter Pan's Flight: Since it is a homing beacon for the young and young at heart inside another homing beacon, Fantasyland has several queues with many interactive elements to keep those idle hands very busy indeed. While The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train do this really well too, I'm going to give the spot to Peter Pan's Flight. The recreation of the Darling's Nursery, playing with the shadows, Tinker Bell flying around, it makes you feel like you stepped into the original film more than any other attraction. Most certainly a step up to the originally sparse fairground decor.

#4: The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: To be honest, it's the brief middle portion of this attraction's queue that is mostly responsible for its placement. The dilapidated, abandoned lobby of the Hollywood Tower Hotel is a spectacle dripping with mystery and atmosphere followed up by the second most iconic pre-show of all time. Although, to T4's credit, the (at least in my opinion) legitimately creepy boiler room and the overgrown and slightly angled exterior are both impressive in their own way and manage to help sell the ride's off-kilter vibes. But man, that middle part is worth the wait alone...the attraction is too.

#3: Flights of Passage: When WAITING for the attraction feels like an adventure in of itself. This queue is super long and the designers made use of that length by giving guests a smorgasbord of Pandoran environments. You walk through a jungle waterfall, winding caves, a overgrown bunker teeming with bioluminescence, a functioning lab with a bunch of fantasy science projects and a big blue man in a tube, all before you reach the main bunker, loading areas, and pre show with awkward intern and Sigourney Weaver's descendent who looks exactly like Sigourney Weaver. Quite a lot before you sivako (rise to the challenge).

#2: Expedition Everest: Detail is something that Walt Disney Attractions have excelled at and this ride is the grand prize winner. Your runaway tea train ride through the Forbidden Mountain starts in the Himalayan hamlet of Serka Zong where you pass shrines dedicated to mythical Yeti, a mountain climbing supply store run by two newcomer entrepreneurs, and an entire Yeti museum offering history and even evidence of the reclusive guardian's existence. Not only does it truly feel like you've stepped halfway around the world but it's a queue that tells the full prelude to the story of the attraction without the need of a pre-show video or presentation. Simply fantastic.

#1: The Haunted Mansion: Kind of an obvious pick but it's an obvious pick for a reason. This queue has it all. You have the ookie spooky atmosphere. You have all the fun games and activities to do while you wait. You have the Easter eggs in the graveyard. You have the most iconic attraction pre-show of all time. It even has partial air-conditioning. The only thing that would make it even better is if it had even more chills running down your spine as you made your way into Gracey Manor...as in full air-conditioning...because it can be very hot in Florida.
