Where dark woods hide secrets and mountains are fierce and bold. Deep waters hold reflections of times lost long ago. I will heed every story, take hold of my own dream. Be as strong as the sea is stormy, be as proud as an eagle's scream.

The hare he waits on the highest hill
But the snow is no more falling
The hare he waits on the highest hill
Oh the dark is rising
By the rock of the stag
He shelters in from the weather
He prays for the veil of snow to come
And cover him over

DANCE WITH MEEEEE 💃🕺💃🕺
~~lyrics below~~
I.
Dá bhfaigheann mo rogha de thriúir acu,
De thriúir acu, de thriúir acu,
Dá bhfaigheann mo rogha de thriúir acu,
Cé hé acu siud do b' fhearr liom?
Ó mo mhíle gille thú,
Grá mo chroí is fiche tú
Ó mo mhíle gille thú
'S tú peata geal do mháthar
Ní phósfainn féin an táilliúirín,
An táilliúirín, an táilliúirín,
Ní phósfainn féin an táilliúirín
Bíonn codladh grifín on gclár air
Ní phósfainn féin an gabha dubh,
An gabha dubh, an gabha dubh,
Ní phósfainn féin an gabha dubh
Mar bíonn sé dubh sa cheartain
Ní phósfainn féin an t-iascaire,
An t-iascaire, an t-iascaire,
Ní phósfainn féin an t-iascaire
Mar bíonn sé fliuch go bhásta
Sé mo rogha an veidhleadóir,
An veidhleadóir, an veidhleadóir,
Sé mo rogha an veidhleadóir
Sé an veidhleadóir is fearr liom
II.
Dhannsadh, gun dannsadh
Dhannsamaid le Ailean
Dhannsadh, gun dannsadh
Dhannsadh Ailean leinn
Ruidhleadh Màiri Tàillear
Dhannsadh Màiri Tàillear
Ruidhleadh Màiri Tàillear
Gus na dh'fhàs i tinn
Ged bha Màiri crùbach
Agus car na glùinean
Dhannsadh i gu sunndach
Air an ùrlar ghrinn
III.
Hao hil o il
'S i Cairistìon' nighean Eòghainn
Hao hil o il
Cha mhòr nach do chailleadh i
Hu hil u bhi
Seinnidh Cas Odhar a phìob
Hu hil u bhi

Someone tell me why the creators of Brave hired a native Gaelic speaking singer and folk musician to sing all of the English language songs in the film, then got an English person to sing the one Gaelic song
I would kill to hear Julie Fowlis singing A' Mhaighdean Bhàn Uasal

O, bu bhinn a caoidhrean brònach
“Tha mo ghaol air àird a’ chuain…”
//
Rinn an ceòl le deòin mo thàladh
Dlùth do rìbhinn donn nam blàth-shùil
‘S i ag ùrnaigh ris an Ard-Rìgh:
“Bìon mo ghràdh ‘th’ air àird a’ chuain!”
Oh, how sad her plaintive keening: “my love is out on the wild sea….”
This music brought me to her willingly, close to the brown girl with flower-eyes, while she prayed again to The Lord above: “protect my love who is out on the wild sea!”

Day #230: Today I Listened to ‘The Lost Words Blessing’ by Spell Songs. My partner and I sometimes like to give Karine Polwart an affectionate ribbing by listing bird names in a Scottish accent – “the crested grebe, the yellow-throated barnlark, the red-tipped wingblade” – since a lot of her songs tend to string together bird-themed similes. And it seems she’s carried that fauna-based lyrical inspiration over to Spell Songs. Drink every time she names an animal.
The combo of warm piano chords and muffled ambient samples, reminds me of something maybe Sigur Rós’s Jónsi would do in his solo projects. It definitely sounds like a finale. You couldn’t put this anywhere else on the album. As beautiful as it is, I feel like I’m missing the context, like if you only caught the final scene of what seemed like a really good film. So I’m excited to hear the rest of it, and maybe then ‘The Lost Words Blessing’ will move me to tears.

Lá Róúil
Lá róúil, lá róúil, déanfad lá róúil,
Lá róúil, lá róúil, déanfad lá róúil,
Lá róúil, lá róúil, déanfad lá róúil,
Ní fada go bhfeicfidh mé arís thú.
Tógfar ár spiorad s'ár gcroí
Beidh orainn athas an tsaoil
Tógfar an cian mór dúinn
Is ní fada go mbeidh muid mar a bhí.
Scartha ní bheidh mé go deo,
Ó do lámh, ó do mhuirneadh is ó do thaobh,
Sinn a bhí lúcháireach lá,
Is ní fada go mbeidh muid mar a bhí.
A Great Day
A great day, great day, I'll have a great day,
It won't be long till I see you again.
Our spirits and our hearts will be lifted,
The joys of life will be upon us,
The great grief will be lifted from us,
It won't be long till we are as we were.
I won't be separated forever,
From your hand, from your embrace, from your side,
We, that were happy once,
It won't be long till we are as we were.
